That's where ego steps in.  I used to work with an attorney who specialized in financial compliance.  I asked him once why people who have plenty of money as it is commit fraud.  They don't need it and they are putting their freedom at risk.  His response = "Because they can.  It's all about ego."

Anyone who's out there amassing more and more and more when they don't really need it have different motivations, I suppose.  Even if it's just for "the fun of it".  But, I think ego is the driving factor for many in the same way it is for rich people who steal.  Kind of a personal challenge that stokes/strokes the ego.

My dad passed in 1999, but I clearly remember him marveling when Nicole Kidman ( IIRC) was lauded as the first female star to get $22 million for a movie.  Dad said, “These people, they never have to work another day in their lives. Why dont they just retire & enjoy their money?”

I confess  I’ve wondered that, too.  @Jextella, your insights make as much sense as any other reason I can Imagine!

Actually they were friends the summer before she met Adam (she had been spending time with Lu), then she met Adam in the kitchen during the 1st or so ep of that season.  It was the season Lu had recently purchased her Sag Harbor home.

Yes, Heather asked Carole to give Luann a second chance because she liked both of them and wanted them to get along. Carole did and she/Luann became friendly but I still wouldn't say they were ever close/real friends.

Ramona/Bethenny fight - last year it started with the How does your daughter feel about the soft porn. Bethenny made it into a bigger deal then it had to be. While I agree it was a bitchy comment by Ramona, Bethenny went berzerk. The comment wouldn't affect custody nor did she have to fear Brynn watching the episode

I don't think Bethenny got mad because she thought Brynn or Jason was going to see it. The porn crap wasn't a big secret. It was HOW Ramona brought it up. She was just itching to say something about it, but didn't want to look like a gossip. So she tries the "concerned" angle. SHE was the one who brought up Brynn finding out about it.

She basically USED Bethenny's daughter to get the "scandalous" topic on air. It was cheap and low, and I would have been pissed too.

Bethenny is no saint this let’s deflect and make everything everyone else’s fault just doesn’t ring true. When everyone hase a issue how does it get turned around and it’s their fault? Am I saying she’s guilty of everything thrown at her no. However this she is ?% innocent and everyone else is just jealous is a hollow response. Why is it that no matter what she does she is not held responsible it’s always someone else that is the problem?

Bethenny is not always guilty or innocent.    Like everyone else she has her faults.    We just get to see them more often because as a fan favorite, she gets lots of camera time.   She's a smart ass and that's just one of the things I enjoy about her.

Kudos to Betheny for having created something Jim Beam wanted enough to pay umpteen million dollars to buy.   None of the other HWs have even come close to that level of success.  Ramona certainly can't say she created Pinot Grigio or face cream anymore than Kristen can claim creating nail polish.

My family's Italian heritage prevents me from discussing or even thinking about meatless meatballs.  ?

Ha, my husband is Italian, born & raised Brooklyn and I am not.  When we were first married, I made macaroni, meatballs, sausage & pork in the “gravy” as they call it.  He went and told his Mother it was the best sauce & meatballs he ever had.  Needless to say, she went Berzerk !!!  You just cannot say that to a Mother.  I still laugh when I think of it.  P.s.  I’ve never heard of meatless meatballs.

Just discovered that Luann wears (or wore) the scent Grapefruit by Jo Malone, she wrote about it in her book. Tom said Ramona smelled like a grapefruit, and she told the doc that it’s the citrusy scent she’s known for. Hmm

From the stand point of insisting she didn't want it discussed, I thought Bethenny's major misstep, if she didn't want the porn thing brought up would have been to diffuse Ramona's inquiry with a "I'm not really concerned about and if it happens, Brynn will ask questions and I will answer them.".

Or a simple "I'm not sure but if it comes up I'll deal with it".

Instead she flipped out and this was basically the season fight. People like Ramona are generally really easy to diffuse.

I go back and forth on Bethany,  but I am by no means a hater, however,  she's a miserable person. Divorce is hard,  hers was ugly,  but she has been extra bitchy ever since she had enough money to get away with it.

Bethenny normally would have diffused it, but she and Ramona have a long long history so Ramona can get her flustered.  The only person that has been able to get Ramona on the defense without even trying was Heather.  I'd like to trade Bethenny for Heather, please.

I agree. At first I don’t even think Bethany was that upset. Her first reaction was more “da fuck?”, but then Ramona kept on with her fake concern about Bethany and her porn past. I would have been pretty pissed at that point too.  Not because of embarrassment about the thing, but that the Ramonacoster was trying to create drama by upgrading a b-movie that had never been a secret to hard core porn and a blurb in the gossip rags to a media onslaught at her kids school. Ramona had an agenda and she wasn’t going to let it go until she created a scandle.

I was also thinking that regarding Sonja, Mr. Morgan is 87, and Quincy will inherit a boatload of $$$.  Maybe Sonja is counting on that event of his demise to rescue her financially.

I think it's also in the realm of possibility that JPM has been subsidizing Sonja since the divorce in addition to whatever divorce settlement monies was agreed upon.

Throwing an extra $20,000 per month at Sonja is pocket change to JPM. And let's assume he dotes on his daughter, he'd want to keep her happy by making sure that her mother wasn't on her way to bag lady status.

Does anyone know what Sonja's divorce settlement was?

Don't know the whole details of her divorce settlement, but this article tells the result of her bankruptcy proceedings in 2015.  Supposedly Morgan still owes her $3mil from the divorce and refuses to pay.  Makes no sense to me, but that's what everyone reported.  Sonja had to get a $3mil mortgage on the East Side townhouse to clear all the bankruptcy debts.  It's hard to see how she makes the payments on that plus pay the expenses on the house.

I don't think Mr. Morgan was in the mood to pay her one more penny.  He went on to his next wife and he has two other kids, and they might not have liked it.  I suppose if push came to shove, he'd get custody of the daughter.

From that article:  "Mr. Morgan says he's destitute."   Looks like they also might be correct in saying that he will go to his grave not having paid Sonja the 3.3 mil he still owes her, if the article is to be believed.

Sigh.  So much for monthly stipends just because he can and because he's a nice guy.

I know one insanely rich guy who despises his ex-wife but built her an amazing house and gives her a generous monthly check just because they have a daughter together. (Daughter is now college aged) and....he also helps support this ex wife's other children that aren't even his that were born after they divorced - just because those kids are half sibs of his daughter.

So, being that generous when wealthy is certainly in the realm of possibility but apparently not in JAM's case.  Bummer, Sone.

Tins has been accused of dressing younger than her age, but her ex's new wife appears to dress younger than their 5 month old daughter's age. Topper appears to have a type.

Agreed. I don't get this line of thought. Just because someone thinks Bethenny isn't the one mucking up one particular situation does not mean she is without fault in every other situation. I love her, but she's a mess who screws up all the time. Brynn's pajamas and her slut shaming Lu are two specific situations in which I found her behavior to be totally horrific.

Some of these high-brow women are very eccentric.  Look at the Olsen Twins.  They dress like two old bag ladies, and they get away with it.   This bride looked like she belonged on a covered wagon.   Tinsley, although very pretty, dresses like a little girl, and those braids .. like she just came from milking a cow.

Did you see the fit on those jeans?? The crotch was ill fitting on most of them.

I was rather shocked at how bad the fit was on some of the models. Also, the repeated declarations of inclusivity showed that even Frankel knows the brand name is/could be a liability.

How are the jeans selling, btw?

I don't know that I would say the Olsen twins get away with being eccentric - I think they are often made fun of for it. But I think someone's personal style is different than someone whose job it is to tell others how to dress, and then dress like they belong on a covered wagon (and apt comparison, I might add). But then I don't follow "hi-brow fashion", so maybe that is what the editors of Vogue are telling the sheeple to wear.

Finally got a chance to see the episode.  A few questions:

  • How has Carole somehow managed to make me feel empathy for Bethenny?
  • Will we see the receipts from their text exchanges at the Reunion?
  • Are they really fucking going to film at Bobby's funeral???
  • When Dorinda said "Three mugshots is enough," did she misspeak or was there another cast member, besides Luann and Tinsley, who's had a run-in with the law? ; and
  • Are we all supposed to just pretend True Renewal skincare, and that whole season of Ramona using "renew" as a buzzword, never happened?

Wow, fourteen pages! I’ve been traveling and finally got a chance to see this episode - it will take longer to read all these comments than it did to watch, lol.

That conversation between Carole and Bethenny - run, Carole, run! She called Bethenny a narcissist earlier this season, but clearly hasn’t done enough reading about that disorder if she still thought they could talk it out in a meaningful way.

What in the world was Lu thinking going back to all those memorable spots in Palm Beach - but maybe she did need to hit a wall, so...

I hope Bravo paid for Sonja’s penthouse - can’t blame Tinsley for swiftly getting Sonja out of her space.

I still like Dorinda the best!

It looks like several dresses I remember from the 70s and early 80s, including a friend of mine's. Though both of my brothers got married in the 70s and it doesn't look like either of their wives' dresses. These were first weddings of young brides (and it looks like maybe that was the case with you?), 35 - 45 years ago. Tabitha Simmons is a 47 year old divorced fashion editor - she looks ridiculous.

Edited to add - there are some hilarious comments on Tinsley's thread. There is even a picture of Tabitha in her reception wedding dress compete with the unicorn headdress which features ears. OMFG! And LOL.

I’ve always ff’ed Past Ramona and did so in her lengthy discussion with Dorinda.  Then I ff’ed Thru Carole’s Long drawn out commentary on Lu’s arrest.  Then I ff’ed thru most of Beth (as I usually have) and Carole’s predictable makeup date. Long story short, I watched Sonja atthe event, Tinsley at the hotel, and Dorinda talking to Lu. Let’s hear it for ff’ing! An hour-long program can be enjoyed - so to speak - in under 10 minutes, and I’m not tired out from smh!

LOL - I'm rewatching the same season via Hulu when nothing else is on and I wanna watch TV - that was a good Ramona season, Aviva went from being not so bad to insufferable all in one season. My sweet lawd her arrival on the island and the expectation of everyone to bow down to her was mind boggling. After that trip I couldn't stand her - she just got worse and worse. Of course when I get the the "writer girl" season when she went in on Carole I might appreciate her a little, ha ha

I feel poorly that I was excited for that episode.  Why?  I have nothing but pity for poor Luann.  I guess the franchise handled it as well as they could.  It wasn't as embarrassing as it could have been, I guess?  I don't have much to say.

This cast is BORING without Luann.

I get Bethenny's argumentative techniques: Ad hominem attacks. Never addressing what Carole actually says just making some nonsensical attacks.  Like, "You're freaking me out right now."  "You're debating me."  Um, yes it's an argument with 2 different people who have 2 different POVs?  LOL.

I'm very Team Dorinda especially when it comes to versus Bethenny but I'll say this - Bethenny paid for everything, right?  Dorinda just like, found a picture and showed her on her phone?  LOL.  What did Dorinda even DO!?  LOL it's getting rIDICULOUS.  I hate rudeness and ungraciousness - I hate when I hold the door open for someone and they don't say thank you - but this is a bit weird.  Dorinda needs help.
