S10.E08: A Frittered Friendship

I'm not even a Team Carole person, but I did think she did a really good job at diffusing a lot of the tactics that Bethenny/other housewives use as a way to distract from the point at hand. Bethenny likes to trot out "you're freaking me out" or "You're being loud" as a way to change how people are receiving the conversation. It's a classic Housewives move to try to make the other person look crazy.

Yes! Carole argued intelligently, and that freaked her out. I was loving her up until she started doing that to Carole. “I know you want to be 45”? What the? And she’s naked on camera in the next ep.

I thought Lu looked the best. Ramona, take that barrette out of your hair. Of course Lu was the first to give mouth to mouth. Hehe.

I think Milu - or however you spell it - was Sonja’s true fur baby and poor Rouge and Marley never got the same treatment.

I actually liked the show better when Bethenny wasn't on. These ladies will always bring drama.

Her phrasing and demeanor completely reminded me of crazy Kelly. And it was bullshit. I'm neither team B or C at this point,  but Bethany resorting to age shaming shows she was owned.

Wow, what a “mystery” that was - a whole 10 minutes of suspense until Dorinda confessed.  It was me, let’s eat!  Doesn’t seem like she should get a prize for confessing?

Up until the last 10 minutes, this was the most delightful episode. I was living for the Murder Mystery party! 

The butler named Rhett. 

Ramona's feathers are free range. 

Bethenny - "Help him! I have a fritter in my hands!" 

"Did he have a fritter???"

They even managed to work in another Lu-in-the-bushes flashback, but this time with a 1919 air date! 

It was just all so hilarious. I wish Dorinda hadn't suddenly ended it and then forced the Beth-Carole thing. 

 

I really don't want that storyline to play out all season. Everyone knows I'm a Bethenny fan, but even I'm not looking to malign Carole. I think there's a lot of miscommunication going on, and hurt feelings on both sides. I think there was a natural growing apart, due to just different interests. I think B gets this, and that's why she doesn't seem as worked up about it as Carole. 

I will say I trust Bethenny's version of things more than Carole's. I just do. But I am too exhausted to endure episode after episode of their issues. Move on and get back to the fun stuff!

(Like Ramona not knowing what a homie is.)

 

Ohhh, and how nice it was to find out that Sonja gave her dog and cat away because she needed to "lighten up."

It was also extra rich of Bethenny of all people to tell Carole to basically bring it down a notch when Bethenny lost every bit of her shit on Luann a couple seasons ago and was screaming about her fucking everybody and being a snake. But that's like Ramona deriding people for not supporting women. Self-reflection is never the game when it comes to Housewives.

I have a confused attitude about BF on this show.  Back when she left the first time, I was so fed up and full up that I wanted her to be gone.  Then I missed her contribution.  I actually didn't find the remaining group as adept at carrying the show.  I hate to admit it, but there it was.

Now, I'm finding myself fed up and full up again, and I'm exploring her absence in my head.  I actually think that if she does leave again, perhaps the whole damn thing should just be retooled.  All new blood.  I'm sure we'll have all the opportunity we want to keep track of the veterans via sm.

I don't think Dorinda knew ahead of time that she was the killer. I think she deduced it, by paying attention to various clues. I was disappointed that it ended so quickly, though.

I enjoyed this episode. I like it when they do fun stuff (OK, maybe it's just fun to me) and aren't screeching at each other. I actually wish the mystery wouldn't have ended so abruptly! Lots of funny things from Sonja carrying the calculator around, Ramona telling everyone the assistant hated his boss, Lu with the mouth-to-mouth, and even Tinsley got in a good one re: the police.

You're  right about Carole.  What was up with those circa 1960 hats she wore?

What the hell was that?  Dorinda calling a summit was a bad move.  Who does she think she is?  That conversation was between Bethenny & Carole .. No one else.  That friendship is finished.  No one appreciates being confronted in front of everyone.  Dorinda is the big honcho and should mind her business.  I'm liking Luann more and more.  Big disappointment tonight.  Screw the Berkshires.  Shit happens there.  Go to a hotel next time, and if you have to hear rules of engagement, don't invite people.  Carole just can't let the election go, still.  Get over it already, it's getting boring.

Dumb question here, but when Ramona outed the Assistant's comment about his boss ("I hate him,") was he in character or not?  The way Bethenny jumped on Ramona about it, I couldn't tell if they were still in character or not!  Bethenny seems to always be criticizing somebody, real or not.

The best part of it was that she wasn't doing it to be funny, she was serious as all get out which made it even funnier! And actually it was our crazy noodle Ramona that was taking the "before" evidence pictures.

Sorry, you were right it was SonJa and not Ramona that was taking the pictures. My mind just flipped it to Ramona since she was the one who tore down the lights and did the wall damage on the last stay.

Wow Bethenny was really feeling her “snowmies” sweater eh? I mean, it was cute but not so much that she had to ask every single woman if they “got it.”

I was loving the murder mystery- the costumes were fun! Clue was my favorite board game when I was younger. We even had an “interactive” Clue game on VHS at one point. 

Of course Sonja gave her pets away. She never seemed to like Rouge — and did we ever even see her cat? I hope she was telling the truth about rehoming them but I have my doubts..

I'm Team Carole because I can't stand Bethenny and I'm the only one who still likes Carole, lol. But everyone in their THs seemed to think that Carole was in the right and Bethenny was getting owned.

Carole really called out Bethenny to a tee. Called her on every trick BF has used in the past with every HW. Carole calls her out on parsing words, which she does.   Even Ramona said that none of the others can effectively argue with BF because her language skills are better. But she cannot call that on Carole. She says she did not call Adam, did not email him, well, obviously they did communicate so not acknowledging it is almost like lying about it.

BF walks in the house and immediately talks about her sweater, pulls out her new skinny girl jeans ( which I would look at to buy ) and seemed overall very uncomfortable. Rambling a lot like Ramona does.  I am feeling uncomfortable myself when BF is on screen. She is just so mean and nasty and she is not supportive of other women. She is dismissive and superior .

 

She is off this season. She is aggressive and very unkind. Her support of Sonja just seems like a ploy, not sincere.

Sonja sees this as an acting job. Whenever there is a camera around, she is acting for it.

I think that he was in character and made the comment as part of the game (meaning that even though it was said "in confidence" to Ramona, she was meant to repeat it in order to move the game forward) and that Bethany just can't help getting her digs in, even if it means bringing personal/"real" stuff into a literal game.  If he wasn't in character and said that, then he's pretty dumb because he was mic'd and on camera.

I'm not a Carole fan, but I'm totally Team Carole for this one.  Nice to see Bethenny on the defensive for a change.  Hope it serves to jump start a new attitude because Bethenny has become far too vitriolic this season.  No wit, all barbs.

No one will ever convince me that the back and forth between Bethenny and Carole was real.    It was totally staged and probably scripted as well.

The show did fine when Bethenny was gone, the rating are about the same with or without her on the show.

The miscommunication was that Bethenny was talking smack about Carole behind her back and Carole found out and called her out. I do think Carole is correct, Bethenny was mad that Carole didn't force Adam to go with Bethenny for free. I said it before and I am saying it again, No One says NO to Bethenny ever!

Well, Bethenny has been talking about Carole  in not so nice ways and doing so on camera, so the discussion should be on camera.  Oh, and I don't mind Dorinda going over the rules for staying in her house, this is the same group that stained chair cushions so badly they couldn't be cleaned, the allowed their uninvited dog to poop all over the house, that ripped lighting fixtures off the walls and damaged them, started a fire in a nonworking fireplace and went into her closet, took out lounge wear that was in a protective garment bag and then wore them even though they were too small on them. So, Yea, they needed to be reminded to behave. LOL

Carole has grown big balls this season.  Maybe she's always had them but I like how she's speaking up for herself more than ever before. I've always considered her to be one of the most genuine of the Housewives in this franchise, but she did go through a bitchy phase when she and Bethenny were closest (e.g., bolting out of Jules's Hamptons house a few seasons back). I've been there and done that when befriending people who don't have the best character.  Their bitchiness can infect you like a disease and you take on their ways. Maybe she saw herself on the show and didn't like who she saw. 

Dorinda does have a drinking problem but Bethenny considers herself to be so far above everyone else that her "concern" comes more across as scolding and putting others down. Her success has continued to make her ego grow.

This is how pets - especially older ones, end up at the shelter.  An owner doesn't want to deal with them anymore.  Yeah, I wanted to reach through the screen and slap her myself.  Give me a legitimate reason and I'll be understanding, but I have no respect for Sonja's logic (or lack thereof) in this situation. 

As I've said in previous Christmas episodes, I love Dorinda's decorations!!  She might be over-the-top, but that's the joy of Christmas, IMO.  I loved the TV with the little characters moving about.  I'd love to go see her house.  It must take a long time to get all of her decorations out and in place.

The reason it looked fake is Bethenny had that deer-in-the-headlights look and stumbled around with her words - she was called on her shit and was desperate to deflect. Next week we’ll probably see her move into rage mode.

That’s what happens when someone skillfully calls a narcissist on their shit - deflect, gaslight, rage if necessary. imo “Sharp Bethenny” is her public persona - a mask.
