First day of San Diego family trip - wow, Angelina NEVER shuts up, ever.  Half hour of her not really even making any sense.  I just wanted to go to the pool party too!  I can just bet Uncle Nino is going to show up.

That's got to be egged on.  She probably is too much to be around but she and Jenni were going at it and everyone else wanted to get outside.

I guess that's what they have to do for that TV money, try to have some beef on social media to drive story ideas for the show.

Producers aren't going to have them be civil or even friendly all the time.  This is a reality show and it's suppose to be JS.

At first I thought they must have a huge budget.  But Hard Rock Cafe probably comped them all the rooms.  Still, they were bringing the whole extended family, not just spouses and kids but grandparents to watch the kids.

In previous trips they've gotten private jets for them.

I looked up ratings a bit.  In the OG run, they were reaching like 10 million viewers a week.  That's just about 10-12 years ago.

Now they're getting 300-500k and while that's a fraction, it's enough to win the night among cable shows for the week.

So that's why the cast all bought big McMansions, all have nice luxury cars.  Probably why Ronnie is itching to come back.

BTW in the opening credits, one of the pictures in the montage shows Ronnie.  I don't know if that's always been the case this season or they just slipped that in there this week.

I don't know why Pauly wasn't there, since he's nearby.  But he supposedly arranged the pool party -- like there wouldn't be a pool party at a big hotel pool all the time -- then said it was radio silence so they must be fighting.

Talk about scripted.

I do think Angelina and Jenni do get agitated and they don't mind screaming, ultimately they know MTV wants that, the way they repeatedly run clips of those arguments.

Angelina's role is to be "messy" on the show.  The meatballs still get drunk on the show but otherwise live sedate lives.  So they have to have Angelina have the wild single life.

Is that what she's like on camera?  When her sister appeared a couple of times, she was nothing like Angelina -- no heavy makeup with those lashes, clothing style different, sounded more educated.  Angelina may have taken a different path but what is her nickname, the "Staten Island dump?"

She also said last week when she's always around, Vinny has a boner.  This week she says Vinny has been hiding a girlfriend, either from the other cast or maybe from the show?

I still don't understand how Angelina's messy has to do with anyone else. Why if she's cheating and messy is it Mike and Jenni's job to call it out and get involved. Podcasts, DMs with the other parties, investigating, telling the others in a group chat Angelina's not in. Spending all their time focused on Angelina's mess. It's her mess, say out of it. 

Where was Mike doing all this when Roger and Jenni's mess was all over the tabloids? The rest want to claim family privacy and respect for kids, but they bring all of Angelina's mess to talk about.

Mike especially has a motive to have it blow up into social media spats and then these scenes of them badmouthing each other, some behind their backs, some to their faces.

Whether it works or not, producers probably like not having to come up with story ideas, they can just continue on the IG sniping on the show.

But they bickered, even got physical with each other back in the day.  It's part of what made them famous.

Now they're settled, with parenting responsibilities.  Deena and Snookie aren't getting heated, at least this time around.

Mike, who knows, does he want to be liked more by others or does he want to stir up shit, even if it makes some of them hate him for it?

Because he's probably thinking he's making up for lost time, to maximize that TV money which Snookie and Jenni have done.  Also Paulie, using his TV fame to get huge DJ gigs.

Mike is a real dick this season. It pisses me off that he keeps causing problems and then portrays himself as the wounded victim when he gets called out on his crap. (Although I wish the fam would call him out to his face; they really have him pegged in their talking heads.) I guess he hasn't changed as much as he wants to believe he has.

Snooki is really an alcoholic, she drinks more than everybody put it together, she drinks everyday.

I can't imagine she gets like that at home.

She may drink a few glasses of wine but can she be like that around the kids or her husband?

Or maybe she uses her TV money to hire maids and nannies and she doesn't interact with the rest of her family that much.

She's doing a second TV show and I won't watch it but it sounds like she won't have the chance to drink so much because it's in studio and she has to do things in a structured way.

So she may cut loose on these trips but presumably she's not doing it every day when she's home, which would be what an alcoholic would do, they couldn't just binge like that just some of the time.

Unless her drunken behavior is exaggerated for the cameras.  Or faked.

Nobody buys for one minute that Vinny is interested in Angelina, who may also be playing along for the camera.

For one thing, he gets a lot of attention from groupies who are drawn to him because he's on TV, like the ones they showed asking to take a picture with him.

Snookie booked after dropping in for her drunken Smurfette act, to do some other shitty MTV show.  Work on your repertoire Nicole, bring something more to the table.

MTV still paying them a lot and flying them around on private jets.  They're going to have to create some more tabloid or "gone viral" social media stuff.

I stopped watching this about halfway through the season. It was boring me, they were boring me. I miss the old days. I have had enough of Angelina to last me a lifetime.

Only watched the first half of the reunion.

The harsh studio lighting shows their age, despite all the professional hair and makeup.  Snookie looks bloated.  They're all under 40 right?

They really don't talk much about real things.  The show is now about going on weekend or week-long trips, a few confrontations here and there.  I guess they'll get into the big confrontation in the second half of the reunion.

Really the big challenge is how much more they can keep the show going, make it about more than mostly family people going on some fake trips.  So there will probably be some more scandal on social media that's ginned up to hype up a new season.

Probably find a way to get Ronnie back on, if the producers thought it would generate some drama and help draw in more viewers.

I haven't watched for a month, so I am playing catch up.  Just watched the Pool Party episode.  Or should I say Pool Party...NOT.  

I am by no means an Angelina fan but I get her frustration.  She is and always will be on the outside looking in with this group.  I believe most of them only deal with her because it is part of their contract.  Apparently so was having to stay in the hotel room for the big fight instead of having the option to go to the pool party.  Which Snookie so wanted to go to.  Ok back on track... So having them all discussing her in a group text she is not privy to has to hurt. 

She originally came back to cause drama.  I don't think she wants to be the villain anymore. I think she may have formed somewhat of a friendship with Snookie and Deanna, making this new round of "Lets gang up on Angelina" hurt because she thought she had some kind of friendship with some if not all the cast members.  This makes it very clear she has not.

It would have been nice if someone at least spoke up for Angelina.  To me, it was totally a big gang up on Angelina with Mike smiling like the DICK he is, while everyone fights with each other.  I have to give it to him, he is a master manipulator.  

Mike started this whole thing, played both sides, got everyone riled up and walked away with a smirk on his face.  And I liked the new Mike and hope he comes back.

I think by now the cast recognize their scripted roles and recognize that without drama, the show probably doesn't get the same ratings compared to if they were all peaceful and one happy family.

So to keep the gravy train going, there will always be friction of some kind.

The gender reveal skydive by the Situation was one of the best moments of the cast enjoying each other in a few seasons.

Laurens may genuinely have been pissed off to find out Mike was up there, about to jump out of the plane, but that soon gave way to anticipation and excitement.

Good bonding moment, one of the best in the show, but in the last couple of seasons, a lot of BS about Mike outing Angelina and then the fake moments earlier this season where Vinny and Angelina was supposedly becoming a thing.

Really shows how nobody cares about Angelina that Pauly announces that engagement 6 months ago to that crowd and nobody leaked it. LOL

Angelina gets bent out of shape over the dumbest things.  What did Jenni say that wasn't true?  Plus she was drunk!!!

Angelina just wants to be the center of attention in every scene.  She threatens violence at the drop of a hat.  (And sometimes follows through on them). 

I don't understand why they remain friends with her.

I don't either, she's toxic and not this fake family like the others. They seem to tolerate her because of contracts.

Will be interesting to see when Sammy comes who they were closer to the dynamic with Angelina.

I think Angelina, like all of them act a certain way to end up in more scenes that make it on the air.

If they're low key, they become invisible gradually and they'd have little reason to keep them on.

Snookie falls into this too, as does maybe Deanna.  Recently Deanna's husband didn't want to go out while she wanted to go out drinking kind of later in the evening, after they had dinner.  Honestly she might have felt pressured to participate rather than go to the hotel room and tend to her kids.

If Sammy is a regular next season and you know they want to bring back Ron if Sammy is going to be there, it becomes kind of crowded so they have to vie for camera time.

What happened to Nikki this season?  Did Pauly break up with her?  Or maybe they weren't interested in paying her despite the big fight she had with Angelina last season.

Angelina goes from aggressor to victim and back so easily.  Deena was right when she said Angelina gets in her own head.   

It's pathetic that she has to embellish the events to get the fiance all worked up.   How can anyone stand to be around her?

The previews make it look like she's bringing Sammie in as backup for herself and to cause more trouble.  

If the producers are trying to morph this into a housewives type of show I'll have to put it on my don't bother watching list.

It has been interesting watching the majority grow and mature and settle down somewhat.  However with each episode I dislike Angelina more and more.  I get the feeling the rest of the group feel the same.

I don't remember Angelina and Sammi being close, bad script having her bring her but I guess they wanted the reaction of the real group. 

Angelina I am ready to go. Keep Sammi, alternate in Ronnie when Sammi not around and Angelina can go. With her fame seaking fiancee. 

The guy shows up for first time, never met the others, Angelina has never spoken about him to the others, she was lap dancing and talking about Vinny 1.0 feelings couple weeks ago, he proposes in front of the cameras and Jenni can't question that? They all should be questioning it.

They try to portray this cast as real life friends who bicker but are like a family.

Theres always the potential for Jerry Springer moments.  It started out tribal in the original show, the supposed guido subculture but otherwise they were strangers and had no reason to get long.

Then they came together, rallied around Snooki being punched and indulging in idiosyncrasies, like GTL, the over tHe top hairdos, etc.

Now edging towards middle age, they trade on the fmily who still bicker, who can still party excessively and project big personalities.  That’s their brand.

Except most of the scenes they end up airing are contrived and false.  The cast are playing parodies of their former selves and hamming it up for the cameras.

that’s not to say there aren’t real moments, like the skydiving gender revel when everyone seemed excited as well as peeved in the case of Laurens who didn’t expect to see her husband jumping out of a plane.

The reaction tO The proposal seemed genuine for tHe most part.  They saw it coming but they couldn’t believe it was happening.  The women seem flabbergasted because Vinny 2.0 probably proposed in a more heartfelt and gallant way than their own significant others did.

I can see in real time Angelina felt Jenny and Zack were slighting her, if not in words than with their facial reactions and body language.

most people would make a mental note of it, might tell someone else their impressions.  But of course this show can just leave it at that, they have to try to make a Big deal out of it.

So they set up a bunch of convos of several couples in the hotel rooms, with people in bed, as if they were having private, real honest conversations — in a way they wouldn’t be as honest around the whole “family” when they’re gathered together.

but obviously there are camera crews, producers and other crew behind the scenes in these hotel rooms.  If they go through the trouble to set all that up, they wouldn’t just turn on tHe cameras and film whatever was in the minds of the cast.

That is the illusion they gave but the producers have to have an agenda.  If they just leave it to the cast members to talk about whatever was on their minds, the resulting convos are unlikely to be “good TV.”

the producers are coaching them and suggesting what to discuss, in this case the smoke Angelina has for Jenny and Mike — the whole Mediation schtick a sure sign of them being performative rather than being real.

they probably do several takes until They get tHe discussions they want and it flows smoothly and seems natural.

meanwhile Angelina is being coached on how to show being offended .  Like I said it is more difficult to manipulate the big scenes, when they were ll at the restaurant, but not impossible.  But the talking heads and the voiceovers of Angelina complain8ng about Jenny not being happy for her were filmed AFTER the big restaurant scene but edited together to blend the, together, to make it appear like she was gettIng upset in real time.

Angelina will play the villain role, since she needs to have a niche on the show.  The boys will laugh and whoop it up when Angelina and Mike are accusing each other, because they know this is the show.

I guess that’s the condition they demanded from Sammi to join the show, come in and be another villain, all defiant and in your face, even though that wasn’t her persona in the OG show.

are they going to try to have drama between her and Ronnie?  Probably not and she probably said she wouldn’t do it, since she may be married or in a serious relationship with someone else.

so this villain role may be what the producers came up with.
