Athena April 13, 2018 Share April 13, 2018 Quote Graham is joined by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Oscar-nominated star of Moonlight and James Bond Naomie Harris, starring together in monster movie Rampage, and Sherlock and The Hobbit star Martin Freeman, appearing in horror anthology Ghost Stories. Roger Daltrey performs his new single As Long as I Have You. Link to comment

dubbel zout April 21, 2018 Share April 21, 2018 I guess Johnson was so casually dressed because he was waiting for the call that his wife was in labor? Why was Roger Daltrey all alone at his end of the sofa? LOL. 17 minutes ago, sugarbaker design said: Martin Freeman & Andy Serkis: Tolkien white guys! I loved that. 1 Link to comment

It was like they could fit 2 people in between him and the Rock. I didn't know if it was because Daltrey doesn't like having people to close but he was sitting on the edge of the sofa when talking to Graham. And after the musical performance he was sitting close to Martin with Naomi. Maybe because the Rock is so large he doesn't realize regular sized people don't need as much space as he does or he thought Daltrey would sit closer to him. Back to the show. Martin Freeman was great and funny. Naomi Harris was just there she didn't really add all that much. The Rock must have been thinking about his new baby coming because he didn't seem to be all that into it. To me the guests didn't really interact together all that much. 2 Link to comment

I think that's part of it, but also, Daltrey sat waaay over on the edge of the couch, kind of barely on it. So that made the empty space even bigger. It did look weird. 3 hours ago, notcreative enough said: Back to the show. Martin Freeman was great and funny. Naomi Harris was just there she didn't really add all that much. The part about their fears was exactly the kind of interacting I love about this show. Freeman got to the bottom of The Rock's fear of being strapped in to a roller coaster, and The Rock fleshed out some details on Freeman's choking incidents (after he asked what crisps were), getting clarification that he did indeed chew them. There was also a quick cut to Graham while Freeman was talking about avocados that showed how intently he listens to his guests, which is probably my favorite thing about this show. And I loved the look Freeman shot at the audience because of someone's reaction when he said The Rock was used to having people pressing on him in his former life. Plus his saying he was opening up about his choking fears because he'd had two gin and tonics, and ending the segment with his head buried in his hands. That's why I watch Graham Norton. 7 Link to comment
TexasGal April 23, 2018 Share April 23, 2018 I'm so glad to know that Martin Freeman literally could sing, but no one would want to listen to him. Between that and the choking on crisps story, I could not love him more. 3 Link to comment
attica April 23, 2018 Share April 23, 2018 I've been to the Rock Hall of Fame (if you've not gone, skip it - it sucks), and saw one of Daltrey's stage outfits displayed, so I had an inkling he is a tiny creature, but my, he is a teeny tiny creature. I found myself surprised his rock voice is still en effect, so good on him. I agree with Graham that being the only commited sober person (although I have a hunch tho he might not have been an addict, he sampled a time or eight) in a rock band is indeed a burden. Rock is just so fucking charming. This is what Cruise wishes his visits with Graham were like. 7 minutes ago, TexasGal said: I'm so glad to know that Martin Freeman literally could sing, but no one would want to listen to him. My husband thought they'd scooched down, and then he chose to sit on the corner - which might actually be more comfortable. That sofa always looks massively uncomfortable to me. 7 hours ago, attica said: I've been to the Rock Hall of Fame (if you've not gone, skip it - it sucks), and saw one of Daltrey's stage outfits displayed, so I had an inkling he is a tiny creature, but my, he is a teeny tiny creature. I was impressed with Daltry's singing, though I couldn't hear the lyrics that well. All too often, aging rock stars don't sound all that great anymore and you kind of have to grin and bear it. But I think I'd pay to hear him sing (don't do that very often, I'm picky). Of course, he was my favorite Who - I remember well how fetching he looked in tight faded jeans. And I'm going to have to read his biography, sounds like fun. Townsend's was a bit of a slog. I've also enjoyed Daltrey's acting, particularly in Highlander (the series) where he was a charming rogue, and in Sliders where he was the opposite of that. Martin Freeman is usually a bit of a miss for me (in talk shows, not as an actor) but I really enjoyed him this time. I'm totally with you when it comes to the grudge match. I'm not fan of wrestling, but back in the 1990s I had channel surfed by it periodically, and noticed this guy called The Rock, with his catchphrase about smelling something cooking, and his one raised eyebrow. I found him really charming somehow, but not enough to actually pay attention to wrestling. Then in what must have been around 2001, WWE came to my town and it turned out I knew someone connected to the venue who had a bunch of tickets to give away for free, so I snapped up some and started looking for companions. Nobody wanted to go, for understandable reasons, and the only thing I could bait them with was, "Yeah, I know it's wrestling but you've got to see this guy The Rock." It turned out the event wasn't wonderful just because the pacing was terrible, with lots of down time for some reason, but when The Rock came out, his charm made it up into the free seats section. Then I went back to ignoring wrestling, and the next thing I know The Rock is a full-on movie star, and all I can think is, "I called it." 1 Link to comment
peeayebee April 24, 2018 Share April 24, 2018 I didn't notice Daltry being far away from the others on the couch, but I did notice that when he came out, he seemed to be keeping his distance. My first thought was that he was a bit drunk or stoned, but maybe he was sick with something he didn't want anyone else to catch, and the others were aware of it. I thought it was an enjoyable show. Dwayne is always a pleasure. I remember being surprised years ago when I saw an interview that he was so charming and, well, nice. Just the opposite of what I assumed a pro-wrestler would be. Martin Freeman was also enjoyable. His movie looks pretty damn good to me, though, like Naomi, I generally avoid scary movies. 1 Link to comment
