PhD-Purgatory15 March 27, 2018 Share March 27, 2018 (edited) My hatred of the battles continues for two more hours. Looking at you, Adam & Alicia... Edited March 27, 2018 by PhD-Purgatory15 1 Link to comment
Lily H March 27, 2018 Share March 27, 2018 I hate it when they waste a steal on a mediocre singer and then complain the rest of the show that they would just love to save someone, but they can't, because they don't have a steal left! I'm talking about YOU, Kelly Clarkson! But this is the first season that there is really nobody I'm interested in hearing, or remember from one week to the next. 1 Link to comment
SunnyBeBe March 27, 2018 Share March 27, 2018 (edited) I was shocked to see so few posters over here. I caught a little of the show last night. I was surprised that Kelly saved that guy too. I did like him though. Maybe, it was a deal she made with Blake. Edited March 27, 2018 by SunnyBeBe Link to comment

Right. Can't tolerate AI, but, that's another story. I was pleased by what I did see. I like the guy that Kelly stole, but,......IDK..still don't get the strategy. He is talented though. One of the 3 NC contestants went home. I hate it, but, I think it was the right call. I thought the other guy was a better vocalist, than Molly, but, hey, what does that have to do with anything on this show? lol Edited March 27, 2018 by SunnyBeBe Link to comment
Wings March 27, 2018 Share March 27, 2018 I have both AI and this on my DVR and have not watched any battles. I may watch at some point when they are down to viewer voting. Link to comment
Keekski March 27, 2018 Share March 27, 2018 I was really surprised Alicia didn't steal Molly. Such a bummer nobody had a steal left. I hope she ends up as somebody's come back artist (if they do that again). And yes, this forum is D-E-A-D. 3 Link to comment

King (defeated Jackie Foster) Jamella (defeated Teana Boston in a montage'd battle) Jorge Eduardo (defeated Amber Sauer) Justin Kilgore (defeated Molly Stevens) Kaleb Lee (stolen from Team Blake) Tish Haynes Keys (stolen from Team Adam) *Alexa Capelli and Hannah Goebel are the final battle from Team Kelly --If Molly Stevens isn't a bringback artist, I may go ahead and just throw in the towel. She was miles better than maybe all but one of the people who benefited from steals this season. Agreed, although Justin deserved the win. If she were up against the other steals (with the exception of Jaclyn Lovly) I agree that she should have gotten the steal instead. I did like the camaraderie between the two of them--they both have great personalities, stage presence and voices! Genesis was robbed. I have no doubt that Mia was better technically, and all the positive critiques she was given, but Mia was completely overshadowed by Genesis's passion and dynamism. If Mia survives the knockouts, I expect her to be one of the first voted out. Britton Buchanon sure got a lot of screams from the audience. It would have been foolish to ignore that, but seeing Blake steal Jaclyn was watching the path to Chloe Kohanski's win all over again. I expect him to do great things with her. I liked Wilkes and Prior. There was something special about their voices that made me want to hear them do more songs. Hopefully that was Wilkes's Nervous Face that can be coached into something more neutral, because he was glowering in a way that was almost scary. In contrast, I'm not a country person at all, but I am kind of liking Trace Atkins' grump-with-a-heart-of-gold demeanor. His rejoinder to Blake about Blake not being memorable as a baby country singer did make me laugh a little. (And I like Blake!) 4 Link to comment
PhD-Purgatory15 March 27, 2018 Author Share March 27, 2018 (edited) Mia is...not good. She sings with a locked lower jaw (almost like she's doing singing & ventriloquism at the same time) and it's super unpleasant to listen to. Alicia's nonsense answer about Genesis (why she didn'the steal her)having a cold sounding voice was just patently absurd. I feel like this all but sets up a Pryor/Wilkes KO, and quite possibly an Adam steal of whoever loses. Edited March 27, 2018 by PhD-Purgatory15 2 Link to comment
viajero March 28, 2018 Share March 28, 2018 I thought this was one of the best battle round episodes we've had in quite some time. Not only did I like all 6 battles, but I thought all the contestants gave performances that ranged from at least decent all the way up to excellent. I thought Mia was much improved over her blind audition, though I still would probably have given that battle to Genesis. In fact, the only two that I would have happily sent home were Kaleb and Jordan. My biggest disappointment was that Kaleb got the steal that should have gone to either Genesis or Molly. I went in wanting Jaclyn to win, but by the end I was convinced that Britton was the better vocalist and performer. His performance was raw and emotional. Blake has worked with many female performers and has gone quite far with them, but I don't feel like Jaclyn is unique enough amongst today's popular artists to stand out. As for Chloe, there was something different about her. She was unique (especially compared to other Voice contestants), yet seemed familiar. She and Blake made some very smart song choices. There are many elements that have to come together in order for an artist to win. Edited March 28, 2018 by Jal Link to comment

His rejoinder to Blake about Blake not being memorable as a baby country singer did make me laugh a little. (And I like Blake!) Ed Sheeran is my ginger brother from another mother, so I was in heaven with the song choice for the Britton/Jaclyn battle. I couldn’t agree more - I had an instant moment of “Chloe 2.0” with that steal. I also saw how Blake responded to her when the camera panned over to him; he was on the band wagon for sure. I LOVE Blake, but I didn’t care for Chloe & I’m not a fan of Jaclyn at all. The “ethereal-rocker-raspy” sound isn’t my jam at all. Britton was amazing from the minute he opened his mouth at the Blinds. In my opinion, Britton is better than...wait for it...Noah Mac. Once Britton sang the Ed song and did it so freakin’ fabulously, I bought both of his singles on iTunes. I never buy music before the end of the season (the EP is always cheaper), but I had to have Britton’s songs, just like I had to have Lauren Duski’s songs ASAP. I thought Stephanie Skipper was robbed, but I should know better! You’d think I’d be used to Adam’s horrible taste in selecting winners to move forward, but I guess I refuse to learn! MaryPatShelby March 31, 2018 Share March 31, 2018 As I watch this, one thing strikes me (as it has in the past). I know these contestants are so-called music nerds, but can they really spout off the exact number of Grammys/ACMs /whatever awards and nominations that a particular mentor has won? My favorite artist on earth I couldn't do that. Yet they walk in the room and we hear a contestant say "Trace Adkins WOW! 4 Grammy nominations, 8 ACM awards!" (yes, my numbers are wrong) I admit that I'm old and have to leave shortly to get some kids off my lawn, but does everyone really recognize Julia Michaels by sight? 3 Link to comment

I wouldn't know her either by sight. I might be getting old too but not that old. If she sang, that would be a different story since her voice has been the source of nearly every Selena Gomez chorus for years now. 1 Link to comment
SnarkyTart April 1, 2018 Share April 1, 2018 I could (easily) be wrong about this, but I've always assumed the contestants were given some kind of memo before their celebrity mentoring session. The memo would tell them who their celebrity mentor is, and provide a list of achievements. I don't think the show would risk having a contestant go in the door for the mentoring session, see Julia Michaels, and ask "Who are you?", have Adam say, "Why this is Julia Michaels, silly!", only to have the contestant say, "I still don't know who she is!" Still, it would be kiiinda fun for it to happen. 5 Link to comment
viajero April 1, 2018 Share April 1, 2018 I think I first noticed Julia Micheals after she released "Issues" about a year ago, which went on to be a huge hit. But even before that, a lot of younger music fans would know about her connection to Selena Gomez and other big pop stars. It would have been kind of like asking people in my generation if they know who Bernie Taupin is. But in this case even more so, because she's released hit songs of her own. 1 Link to comment

I, for one, after all the seasons of this show, could do without each contestant showing/telling us how they reacted when they saw who the advisor was. Surely that time could be spent showing us more coaching. 1 Link to comment
