Graham Norton's guests are the double-Oscar-winner Tom Hanks, who stars in Steven Spielberg's new political drama The Post, world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua and Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams, who talks about her role in the upcoming Aardman animation Early Man. With music from First Aid Kit, performing It's a Shame.

That was a lovely couch with good chemistry all around.  The first Red Chair woman's story was probably worth hearing, but she dragged it out so long in the beginning I couldn't blame Graham for flipping her, and then at the end all she said was that it was Tom Hanks. I wonder what we would have heard if she knew how to tell a story.

Yep, great couch.  I really wish they'd let us have the full version in the U.S.  I promise we could handle it.

How are there enough hours in a day for Tom Hanks to produce movies, star in movies, do publicity for them, write books, indulge a typewriter obsession, AND spend what he says is a lot of time in tavernas in Greece?

And for you cultural ambassadors, when they were discussing the fighter shaving his armpits, what did Anthony Joshua say that was so funny?  Even the captions didn't make sense--something about a Lynx at Aldo Tesco or something like that.  I know Tesco is a store.

This couch should be Exhibit One when bookers contemplate overstuffing the couch with people. Three! (well, and the singers.) So good, and they all talked to each other.  I think I may even be developing a crush on Anthony; he's exceeeeeeedingly charming.

He really is. And did you notice his hands? They're beautiful, which is surprising to me given he's a boxer. I know they wrap their hands, but I thought they took some damage.

I think the first lady in the red chair deserved her flip. Her story desperately needed editing. The second story was good, and I loved Graham's enthusiasm for it.

Yes indeed. Plus, he's funny and quick. I love his sense of humor.

I did notice them and was kind of mesmerized by them. Very beautiful.

How cool was Graham’s plasticine doll?

I LOVED that! What a fantastic gift.

Good show, although I thought Hanks was a little TOO "on." Usually I adore him on talk shows, but here I thought he was trying a bit too hard. Still, I will always look forward to his appearances. So funny what he did with the book to Graham.

What are we missing? I wasn't aware that we don't get the full show.

I think, though I'm just filling in stuff, that the "lynx" (or whatever he said) is some kind of shaving device, and I believe Aldo is also a store. So, something like "buy my razor at Safeway and Target"

I love the way Hanks and Anthony just riffed off of each other. Don't tend to think of boxers as quick thinking and articulate, but boy, he's all that and more.

Oh my God, wouldn't that be the coolest thing to get something like that? I'm not a collector, but still, I had serious envy.

Whenever anyone asks the rhetorical question "who, living or dead, would you like to sit down to dinner with" (or whatever version you've heard), I always go for the people who make me laugh.  Hanks is always the number one choice, since he's been making me laugh (as himself) since the first time he left David Letterman speechless way back when (when DL was not the nice fella he is now).

i thought hanks was a little too hammy myself. but then again, that's why most of these actors are ...actors. they live for the attention.

Re: Anthony Joshua & Lynx thing, he said "Shave those armpits, man! Or you can buy my Lynx (??) at Asda, Tesco."
Apparently he has an endorsement deal with Lynx and there's Anthony Joshua special pack (deodorant / body wash products) or something like that.

Lynx is a razor company in the UK; Aldi is a discount grocery store (we have some here in the US as well) and Tesco is a UK megamart.

I think it's an hour-long show, but in the U.S. the hour has to include commercials, so they edit it.  On this episode, at one point during the big red chair, Norton said, "Third time's a charm," so I think they cut one of them.

The thing is, BBC America used to show the full version of Top Gear, and they'd put it in a 1 hour and 20 minute slot to make room for commercials.  I wish they'd do that with this show, but right now I'd be happy if they'd just rerun it once, in case the rain wreaks havoc with my satellite for that hour.

We're just thrilled we even have it. We had it for a while, then scaled down our cable package (which BBC America was in). I was heartbroken. GN cheered me up more than any other show on tv.  We found out it's now part of our package again quite by accident.

There was that terrible period in season 18 when BBCAmerica didn't transmit the show At All.  Apparently some fat slovenly unshaven slug had acquired the rights in order to launch a new television network.  It didn't happen, we got season 19, and season 18 was slotted in without fanfare.

I so despise unshaven slugs.

Sometimes what we get is chopped down to a 45 minute time slot - this is when BBCA is debuting a series that runs long.  I don't think they've done that for a while.

Loved this couch!  Who knew all those years ago when I was a kid watching Bosom Buddies just how much I would grow to love Tom Hanks.  He seems like such a nice person, and I really hope he is as genuine as he comes across.

Kassygreene, I, too, remember when we were GN-less and it was awful.  I also remember when bbc America had tons of awesome British shows on it.  What on earth happened to it????

It's apparently become the Star Trek Rerun Channel. Which, at least would make some sense in the case of ST:TNG since the lead is a British national treasure, but I don't recall any British regulars on the original show or Voyager. Surely Scotty can't be enough justification for the former?

BBCA is apparently the one major channel my cable system doesn't have an On Demand service for, and I've never managed to successfully navigate all the hoops one has to jump through to sign in to the online version, which makes it very frustrating when I miss a Graham Norton episode.

That stinks, BBCAmerica is available on demand on my system.
