I’m glad she explained why she talks so much during procedures (to calm patients who are only under local anesthetic and might stress if there was silence). 

She seems very kind and she is very pretty.

I had a hilar cyst removed from my head a little over a year ago.  I actually watched Dr. Pimple Popper videos on line to quell my pre-surgery anxiety.  ( I joke that I need to premedicate when I have my bangs trimmed.  It's not really a joke.)  My surgeon was also good at  giving running commentary.  

Is this going to be a series, or was it a one-off special?

 I really hope they do a patient follow up after this first episode. The man with the mystery growth on his back broke my heart.  I’m so glad Dr. Lee was able to figure out what was actually going on with him.  I really need to know that she was able to find a doctor to fix the underlying issue with his lymphatic system and that he is better now.

I've been watching her on YouTube for years. Love her. Always very kind and engaging. I wasn't sure how it would translate to a reality show but I think they did a great job. Looking forward to more.

I'm embarrassed to admit it, but I watched the premier and will watch more episodes.  It's interesting . . . I had a lipoma, it was interesting to see what they look like.  Mine was tiny compared to what the premier episode had.

Re the chatty woman with the cysts on her scalp that she named -- why wait 30+ years to have them removed? I fear this is going to be my constant cry/whine.

I wouldn't have been able to resist squeezing them myself as soon as I could feel something there, then gone to a dermatologist right away if they keep filling up again. I'm surprised it took this long for a stranger standing behind her in a line to gasp. It was funny when Dr. Lee asked her if she wanted to pop them after removal.

I felt bad for the young guy with the huge lumps of lymphatic fluid; hopefully he can get the underlying problem fixed. Aside from the esthetics, it can't be good for a liter of fluid to be diverted from its proper function that way, right?

I am thrilled this is a show.  I've been following her YouTube channel for a long time.  She has such a great disposition and I love her office staff.  I find her experienced and professional.

 I hope so! when I originally heard about the show, they mentioned that it would be a whole series.   My DVR keeps doing the same thing and I get really hopeful ... only to be disappointed.

I've seen a few articles that said it was a TV special and Facebook series, so it might be that there is only one episode on TV and the rest are on the FB page.

I have to admit I have a pretty strong stomach but when I see all that sebum coming out - and often it is A LOT - I can queezy.  One lady had this bulb on the back pf her scalp and the amount that came out was like.....yikes!!!!

Like the posters above, I've been watching her Youtube videos for years.  There's something satisfying about watching her pop those cysts.  Maybe because I had cystic acne years ago, I became inured to it.

I had Dr. Lee confused with another tv doctor from years ago.  Her name was Dr. Linda Li and she was a plastic surgeon featured on the Dr. 90210.  It was one of the first reality shows about cosmetic surgery.  Here's a link with her.

 

Dr. Sandra Lee, is a dermatologist.  I like her show too.

Let's consider it a Freudian slip since James K was on my mind.  I wonder if we'll see Dr. Pimple Popper address skin issues beyond things that need to be popped.

She's obviously an amazing dermatologist who cares about her patients,  but I just have to make the completely superficial comment that she has the most glorious and striking cheekbones I've ever seen!!

Wouldn't those 35 year old cysts stink when broken open after surgery? Urg. Am I the only viewer thinking Dr Lee hasn't located a surgeon for Delano cuz Delano doesn't have decent insurance?

I think they mentioned an odor on one, at least.
Probably he doesn't have insurance, but I think she was looking for someone who'd treat him for free.  I'd guess the problem would be costs for a hospital and staff, even if she found a free doctor.
I really hope he gets help.

The guy with the bumps on his chest and neck -- aren't they going to come back? He's been getting them and squeezing since he was 18. I hope there was a discussion of some sort of long term solution for him that we didn't see.

I couldn't believe the keloid woman was wearing earrings again in her follow-up! I hope they were clip-on, but personally I wouldn't even risk that small amount of possible irritation.

The surgeries are paid for by the show, I guess? Keloid women said she hadn't had them taken off before because of the expense.

Loved this show!  I wish it was 2 hours.  I follow her on YouTube and have watched 100s of her videos.    Can’t wait until next week.

As a long-time viewer of Dr. Lee on YouTube, the key to keeping cysts and steatocystomas from coming back is to remove the sacks after removing the contents. With the steatocystomas, the little sacks are very easy to take out. Dr. Lee has several of these patients that she has highlighted on her channel and it can be mesmerizing watching her removing them for 15-20 minutes.

I had ear keloids that took 6-7 years of repeated removal and steroid injections before they finally stopped regrowing. It was brutal. Never, never get your ears pierced anywhere except a piercing shop.

While these “poppings” are gross & disturbing,it’s oddly entertaining to watch?

Great show to watch if you’re someone who likes to go overboard with cookies or chips during tv. Appetite/cravings gone.

I found it kinda sad that a few of these people put off any kind of treatment for years,especially the lady with the large hump on her back! I can only imagine the stress/frustration it caused her marriage when it came to being Intimate with her husband,who He hasn’t seen naked in years. 

Or the young guy who was 25 (my age),who never got it checked out after 5 years.

I understand money can play a factor in that, but since none of them mentioned money issues,why did they wait so long for help?  I think fear is probably a big reason why, fearing the unknown or cancer, But knowing sooner rather then later,makes  big difference. 

Dr. Lee seems like a really nice doctor,her compassion is genuine & you can tell she really cares. 

Plus I’m jealous of her beautiful long hair! 

Also, loved that covered 3-4 people with results  in one episode instead of dragging it on for an hour only to show the outcome before the credits.

Was it cruel of the producers to make the forehead knob guy wait and fly to LA from NH again just to tell him he didn't have cancer? He was pretty anxious about it and most practices just call patients to relay negative biopsy results. As a viewer, I would've been just as happy to see a follow-up of him and Dr. Lee on the phone.

But that could be my own loathing of flying talking.

When you watch a few of her YouTube videos back to back, you get kind of tired hearing her say, constantly, "Are you OK? Am I hurting you? Tell me if you feel anything! I'm so sorry!!! You are so cute/handsome!" She is also SO invested in her patients' personal lives, cares so much about them and talks to them throughout the procedure to make them feel comfortable. She really is a nice doctor who cares about making her patients' lives better. If there is any drama in the show, it is going to be TLC-driven, because there is none in her videos. She doesn't want her patients to worry.

I wonder if some insurances won't cover these procedures since they are basically cosmetic rather than medical. I think if a patient can articulate that the lump or bump is painful or bleeding or infected, then it can be covered. I know that Dr. Lee will remove the problem for free in exchange for filming it and putting it on YouTube. Her husband is her partner in their practice and he will send over a person who has come in to see him for one derm problem, who also has a bunch of blackheads or a cyst, so she can film it and do it for free.

Even with insurance, it can be hard to get approval for things that aren't considered "medically necessary".  Sometimes patients need a really strong advocate. If a doctor assessed the facial lump or the enormous lump on that woman's back as a cyst and a lipoma, respectively, there's a strong chance insurance would not see their removal as important.

 OK I just watched the first episode of the actual series and I have to say I really enjoyed it.  There was just enough popping to satisfy my pimple popping enjoyment  and not too much of what would really gross me out.

The only thing I didn’t like didn’t like about the show is that I really don’t want to know the personal background  of every person that’s coming on the show. I do not need to watch their significant others reaction to the fact that they have a bump on their shoulder/chest/leg.  I just want people to go and get their stuff removed and then a very short follow up as to how things healed up. 

 I did get bummed out when I realized that if we had a better healthcare system in the United States none of these people would have to wait until they were disfigured and then go on a TV show to get their dermatological problems fixed.

I am usually very squeamish and have to close my eyes when anything surgical is on TV - but this show I don't - I guess I just find it fascinating why people let these issues get so big before treatment.  I get the money issue, but dang, I would beg someone for a payment plan. The other reason why I like watching is it totally makes me forget about Phish Food in the freezer.

Right?! I think we can all easily imagine that having disfiguring skin conditions makes life more difficult and depressing. No need to make the patients disrobe and cry for the price of admission.

I was wondering about removing that large of a mass with a local anesthetic. Dr. Lee said it was a concern of hers and she decided it wasn't an issue, but scheduling the surgery elsewhere would mean additional hospital fees, getting filming permissions, setting up lights, etc. So perhaps not entirely a medical decision?

The local certainly numbs the skin but I dunno about 5-6" deep where the tumor meets muscle. Dr. Lee brushed the sensation off as "pulling" but the patient said it felt like her insides were being yanked out ... tomato tomahto.

I had a 5" lipoma removed from my back and while the surgeon did it in his clinic, I needed a drain in the incision for several days afterwards (and there was a lot of fluid). If Dr. Lee inserted one, we didn't see it.

NOT THAT I'M  HEALTH PROFESSIONAL! But if the show is supposed to be educational as well as a satisfying pop-fest, it could stand to be a bit more thorough about the actual medical aspects.

I used to have a "5lbs of fat" visual aid in my gym ... what I learned is that fat is fluffy and not too dense. A 5lb weight loss looks great because it's a lot by volume.

I could see how that was 3lbs, although like you for that much effort I would have been more satisfied if it had been 10lbs. 

I'm so excited to learn there's more of this on YouTube. It's addicting!

God help me for watching this show. There are bonus clips (listed as a show called "Dr. Pimple Popper This is Zit") on the TLC app that aren't all on YouTube.

As a beard lover, I was very disappointed at the forehead cyst guy shaving his beard. He went from ruggedly handsome to looking like a character in an Archie comic book.

His work "friends" are assholes.

I actually thought beard guy went from trying to distract from his skin issues to wanting to show his skin off. He needed a break that I completely understand. 

I think he wanted to make sure he was going to have a completely different mirror reflection that wouldn't make his eyes always go to that spot, you know?

Oh, I know. I just really like beards. They are rarely bad, but when they are, they are really bad. His did need trimming and shaping. Moot point now.
