I came into this thread for the clothing porn and the mystery of stolen jewels. I look forward to the day we're drooling over coats and sweaters.

Yeah, that would be nice.

I think I'm here because those 2 motherless boys kind of imprinted on my psyche, in the same way the Caroline and John Jr. did.  I haven't given up hope that there's a little happier ever after for them. Along with some fabulous clothes and jewels.

Honestly that is hilarious.   Heaven forbid she mail her father a clean copy of her thoughts. Didn't Meghan work as a calligrapher?

I forgot about that, yes she did, I bet the newspaper forgot about it too.

Please let them win so much money in their case against the tabloids that they achieve the financial independence the taxpayers want them to have!

Please let them win so much money the tabloids go bankrupt and have to cease operations and her father (and sister) no longer get their payday by selling out his child. Maybe then H&M can live a quieter life and people will stop thinking they are entitled to have input on the lives of strangers. Maybe, eventually.

Of course it's not aimed at you, but at The Daily Mail and Thomas Markle. Sometimes, with news like these, I just don't feel there's a reaction button that suits my needs.

Gee, maybe I should send the Daily Mail ALL of Mama's grocery lists, to-do lists and thank you notes for them to publish because my mother has beautiful ,copperplate handwriting like the Duchess of Sussex does AND this is the first time I've ever heard of folks actually dissing others for having beautiful handwriting and attempting to say that the usage alone is the equivalent  to giving others express permission to publish it!

Oh, what creeps to taunt her for making such a hearfelt plea (to say nothing of her male parent for selling it to them rather than feeling any contrition- and jeers to him for testify for THEM instead of her).

You can always count on The Court Jeweller they seem to know a lot about tiaras and other jewelry.

From the Court Jeweler:

it’s probably helpful to review the way that royal jewelry is distributed and worn in the British royal family. Unlike some royal families – most notably in Sweden and the Netherlands – the Windsors don’t have a family jewel foundation that allows royals to borrow pieces with relatively few restrictions. In Britain, the jewelry belongs to the Queen, and she’s the one who ultimately decides who gets to wear it and when. Pieces are often loaned to other royal ladies on a long-term basis, sometimes for years or even decades, but the ownership of the jewelry remains with the monarch herself. For example, the Queen still owns the Greville Tiara, which is worn now by the Duchess of Cornwall; the Lover’s Knot Tiara, which is worn now by the Duchess of Cambridge; and the Aquamarine Ribbon Tiara, which is now worn by the Countess of Wessex. All of these tiaras are simply long-term loans from the Queen.

Interesting to know.

And?  Most people acknowledge there were multiple factors involved.  Diana not wearing her seatbelt doesn't excuse Paul's drinking nor does his drinking and Diana's lack of seatbelt excuse the paparazzi chasing them at speed.

The drunk driving is the cause of the accident.  Had Diana been wearing a seatbelt, she probably would've survived, but it was very unlikely that there would have been an accident had Henri Paul been sober.  The paparazzi acted badly, but they were not the cause of the accident.

I'm wondering if they don't have much of a case so they just want to punish her however they can. Or possibly they think that saying they're going to release more information will cause her to decide to drop her case.

I am so sick of the Markle idiots trading their biological connection (and after their actions, it's always going to be the only relationship they have with Meghan) for the money they can make off of giving stories out.      I guess Samantha Grant or Markle or what ever she's calling herself this week, is still working on the two books trashing her half sister, that barely ever met her?

Henri Paul was off duty when he was called back by the Fayeds to drive. He should not have been allowed to do so when he had been drinking. It's not just Henri Paul. Its his employers and passengers also.

This is definitely not my area of expertise (& hopefully there is someone here who can correct me if I'm wrong), & I have no idea if it's the same in the UK, but I believe that trials in the US are considered public information. Once something comes out during a trial, newspapers can publish it without fear of reprisals. I'm wondering if that's why they're really calling her father, because they can then print anything he says without fear of being sued again. Their lawyer can lead him to say anything personal about Meghan or Harry, he can even lie & as long as they say it's his testimony, they're covered.

All this talk of tiaras reminded me that I love tiaras that other people tend to hate: the Swedish cut steel tiara, Margrethe's golden poppies (I just don't think she's ever worn it in a way that would best feature it), the Furstenberg blackened steel tiara, Charles de Temple's brutalist tiara, the Linley wooden tiara, Queen Victoria's Orange Blossom Parure, the Phillips Brothers coral tiara, and Princess Mary of Denmark midnight tiara.

I also like Princess Mary of Denmark gold Ole Lynggaard headpiece, but it's not a tiara.

I can't tell if the Queen of Kilimanjaro tiara would look good if worn or like part of Maleficent's costume in the movies.

the Linley wooden tiara,

The whole point of a tiara is to wear something with lovely jewels on it.   A wooden tiara sounds like something a cheap husband bought and his wife was stuck wearing it (yes I saw a picture, it is beautifully carved.  but it's still WOOD).

I agree with this! On top of that, as a blonde, a wood tiara would just blend in with my hair. It's a hard no for me.

You don't announce your intention to stage a heist, Blackberry!  That just creates a trail that leads right back to us you.  I will DM you to reiterate that we cannot steal the tiara.  Nothing to see here, administrators.  Just two people minding their own business and obeying the law and NOT planning a heist of a gorgeous tiara.

The carving on the Linley wooden tiara is just lovely.  It needs some diamonds or emeralds to see it off, of course.  Maybe both.

The Swedish cut steel, brutalist and Furstenburg blackened steel are bada**, IMO. I'd love to see one of the younger royal women try a modern take on the tiara with any of them.  The Golden Poppies would be stunning on a dark haired royal. Too bad Meghan didn't marry into that family; she would rock it against her gorgeous dark hair.

Part of the reason people wear tiaras is to display jewels, but not every tiara has jewels and not every tiara has precious gems in them. There are tiaras with cameos, coral, turquoise, malachite, enamel, lapis lazuli, and moonstone. The Swedish steel cut is actually called the Napoleonic steel cut tiara because it was made for Josephine's daughter Hortense. It doesn't have a single jewel. It is expertly cut and highly polished steel and gold. The reason a steel tiara might be highly prized in the late 1700s and early 1800s is because getting the super pure steel you'd need to become jewelry and a tiara would have been really expensive.

I feel about the Linley Beechwood the way I do about Margrethe's Golden Poppies, these are probably not best worn by blondes.

The golden poppies looks less tiara and more head covering to me.  Beautiful, but I don't think tiara when I see it.  The Linley wooden is also beautiful, but casual - like the day tiara you wear helping wash dishes someplace.

I am considering printing a color photo of one of those tiaras, cutting it properly and putting it on my head as my "reviewing documents and responding to emails" tiara.

Well, and isn't that just the definition of good tiara-wearing?  I see the Linley as an informal daywear piece.  It should be worn while hiking, camping, canoeing or pursuing other outdoor activities giving the wearer the aura of a woodland sprite.  It could go well with plaid flannel and hiking boots.

I work in a medical office, a few years ago, for Valentine's day, I gave my coworkers tiaras and we wore them all day,  I could only afford the plastic ones, but our tiaras looked entirely appropriate and professional in the workplace and set off our scrubs to good advantage.
