UPDATE 7:42AM, after Previous Exclusive: AMC has made official what we told you earlier: The Walking Dead and its standalone series The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Fear the Walking Dead will be at virtual Comic-Con over July 23-25. Below is AMC’s schedule which includes V/H/S/94, Slasher: Flesh & Blood, Ultra City Smiths, Creepshow, Horror Noir and Doctor Who. All AMC Networks panels will be available on AMC+ the day after their Comic-Con@Home debut.
*  *  *
FEAR THE WALKING DEAD

Panel Time: Saturday, July 24 at 1:00 PM PT

Chris Hardwick (Talking Dead) will chat with the feature chief content officer of The Walking Dead Universe, Scott M. Gimple, showrunners and EPs  Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, and cast members Lennie James, Alycia Debnam- Carey, Colman Domingo, Danay Garcia, Jenna Elfman, Karen David, Mo Collins and Christine Evangelista about season 7 with an exclusive first look. Premiere date is later this year. At the end of last season, Teddy (John Glover) brought about his vision of “The End” when he detonated nuclear warheads across the Texas landscape.  In the series’ new season, it will be up to those who survived to decide what “The Beginning” will look like.  And they’ll have to do it in a world devoid of light and hope, where the outside air is just as deadly as the walkers they face. The survivors will find out who they really are and what they’re really made of. Some will rise to the occasion, some will find new purpose, and some will redefine themselves — even if it comes at a terrible cost to those they once considered family.

THE WALKING DEAD: WORLD BEYOND

Panel Time: Saturday, July 24 at 2:00 PM PT

Hardwick will talk about season 2 and provide an exclusive first look with Gimple, showrunner and EP Matt Negrete, and cast members  Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston,  Nico Tortorella, Annet Mahendru,  Julia Ormond, Jelani Alladin and Joe Holt. Season two of The Walking Dead: World Beyond concludes the epic story of Iris (Royale), Hope (Mansour), Elton (Cantu), and Silas (Cumpston) — four friends who journeyed across the country on a mission that transformed everything they knew about themselves and the world.  As they face off against the mysterious Civic Republic Military and fight for control of their own destiny, goals will shift, bonds will form and crumble, and innocence will be both lost and found.

THE WALKING DEAD

Panel Time: Saturday, July 24 at 3:00 PM PT

A big conversation here about the upcoming 24-episode finale. Hardwick, Gimple are joined by showrunner and EP Angela Kang and cast members Norman Reedus, Melissa McBride, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Lauren Cohan, Khary Payton, Christian Serratos, Josh McDermitt, Eleanor Matsuura and Michael James Shaw as they tease how it all ends. In the series’ final and 11th season, the carnage and devastation of the Whisperer War has left Alexandria a former shell of the home it once was, and its residents are struggling to refortify its walls and feed its increased population as survivors from the Kingdom and the Hilltop join their ranks. Meanwhile, part of the group is being held captive by mysterious soldiers who are members of a larger and unforthcoming group.

Am I interpreting this correctly, that it's a trilogy meaning only 3 parts?  It says part 1 coming in August but the other 2 parts of the trilogy coming in 2022.

I'm so confused.

But then again, so are the show runners of this mess.

I wonder if AMC is regretting canning Darabont for not wanting to stick with the AMC budget bullshit.

Probably would have worked out cheaper for them and gawd knows better for the show just to have loosened the purse strings way back in the beginning.

Has there been any confirmation that Andrew Lincoln is coming back for this final cycling down the drain?

If he's really returning, I do hope he demanded a ridiculously high salary.  He deserves it.

Happy Sunday, posters  🥂

According to this November 29, 2020 Insider article,, Scott Gimple said that the 11th and final season will contain 24 episodes, which will "likely" be split into three parts - 11A, 11B, and 11C, each with 8 episodes. The first part will start airing August 22, 2021, while the other two parts will air in 2022. (However, Gimple also said in that interview that things could change.)

A veteran writer-producer of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead will serve as showrunner on Tales of the Walking Dead, the anthology spin-off series in development at AMC Networks. Created by former Walking Dead showrunner and current Walking Dead Universe chief content officer Scott Gimple, Tales is an episodic anthology that tells tales about new or existing characters — including returning fan-favorites who have already died. According to Gimple, Tales is a "grab-bag" made up of individual episodes or arcs of episodes revealing backstories or other stand-alone experiences across different periods in the Walking Dead zombie apocalypse.

Channing Powell, a veteran writer-producer of The Walking Dead since its fourth season in 2013, will serve as showrunner on Tales of the Walking Dead. Powell revealed her showrunner position on Instagram.

The Walking Dead Creator Robert Kirkman: Long-Delayed Rick Grimes Movie Will Be “Worth the Wait”

"I wish that there were more updates. There's a lot going on behind the scenes," Kirkman said about the Rick Grimes movie during his pre-recorded Robert Kirkman@Home Q&A at virtual Comic-Con@Home 2021. "It's entirely possible that there are some details that are coming out around Comic-Con that I just don't know we're allowed to talk about yet, so I'm being a good boy and I'm not gonna spoil anything. But I will say there's exciting stuff happening behind the scenes and I am as frustrated as you guys are that we have not been able to reveal everything to you and talk about it nonstop."
*  *  *
"Andrew Lincoln is amazing, I miss seeing Andrew Lincoln running around as Rick Grimes. I can't wait until we're filming this thing and then this thing's coming out, it's gonna be awesome," said Kirkman, who makes his feature film writing debut with the script he co-wrote with Gimple. "Everybody's working very hard to make this thing as good as it can be. All I will say: we don't want a bad Rick Grimes movie. We want an amazing Rick Grimes movie, so everybody behind the scenes is making sure that when this comes out it was worth the wait and it is actually the special, character-building Rick Grimes journey that everybody wants it to be."

Kirkman continued: "We're not going to be rushing this thing out, and we're going to make sure that it's perfect. So that's what's going on behind the scenes. And when it finally comes out, when we're showing trailers and stuff, you'll see. You'll be like, 'That's exactly what we wanted. I'm so glad they waited.'"

"August 22 is the premiere [on the AMC channel]. Then, if you can't wait, August 15 on AMC+. That will extend to the entire season. You can watch one week early on AMC+, every episode," Walking Dead executive producer and TWD Universe chief content officer Scott Gimple said during the Final Season's San Diego Comic-Con@Home panel. "Then we have [seasons] 11B and 11C, those will be premiering next year. So we have a lot of Walking Dead coming your way."

"Acheron: Part I" is the first of eight episodes in Season 11A, the first part of a 24-episode Final Season Trilogy concluding with The Walking Dead series finale in 2022.

"It's a big story and it takes a lot of turns. We reinvent every eight episodes," Gimple said. "This is three sets of eight, so we're going to put people through their paces. We're going to put the audience through their paces. We're gonna give them an epic, extended goodbye."

I watched portions of the Season 11 Preview Special (even though I don't watch TWD anymore) - here's a recap of the Maggie/Negan discussion...

Can Maggie Forgive Negan? The Walking Dead Showrunner on “Emotional” Season 11 Story
By CAMERON BONOMOLO - August 15, 2021
https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/the-walking-dead-maggie-forgive-negan-final-season-11-emotional-story-showrunner/

Quote

The Walking Dead does the unthinkable when it teams enemies Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as part of an "emotional" story in Season 11, asking the question: can Maggie ever forgive Negan? More than nine years after Negan killed Glenn (Steven Yeun), Maggie's husband and the father of her son Hershel (Kien Michael Spiller), she finds herself living behind the same walls as her husband's killer in Alexandria — the last community standing. It was Maggie's decision not to execute Negan that pushed her to hit the road in Season 9, but now Maggie's back, and it's Negan at risk of pushing her too far in Season 11.

"A big part of the emotional story is how does this character mesh or not mesh with Negan, who killed her husband," showrunner Angela Kang said of Maggie's story on The Walking Dead Season 11 Preview Special. In Seasons 9 and 10, Kang added, "I think we've been watching Negan on this journey where he's trying to integrate into our group, he's trying to find some redemption, but he still has his Negan edge."
*  *  *
"We got interested in these questions of, can somebody redeem themselves? Can there be forgiveness? Is forgiveness owed? Is there an apology that can be made? Can enemies work together in a productive way, or are you always doomed to repeat the same patterns that got you to become enemies to begin with?" said Kang. "There's no easy answer to those kind of questions, they're things that society deals with, so we thought that was really interesting to delve into with those two characters."
*  *  *
For Reedus, who virtually appeared with Kang on the Preview Special, Daryl was "Team Kill Negan" when Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) defeated — but didn't kill — the villain to end the Savior War in Season 8. But after the events of Seasons 9 and 10, where Negan saved Daryl from dying in the Whisperer War, Reedus believes there could be forgiveness.
*  *  *
"After everything, he's done a lot of good stuff now, he's taken care of Judith (Cailey Fleming)," Reedus said on Talking Dead. "He's done a lot of things that are kind of redeeming, and people in that world, they always do horrible things. It's all about perspective. From Negan's perspective, we went and slaughtered all of his people. So there's a world where there's forgiveness, I think."

ETA: I kinda dread the possibility that the series might end with Maggie forgiving Negan and Negan becoming like a father figure to Hershel - even though Negan is the reason Hershel is growing up without his real father. Ugh.

Its already been ~33 months since the original announcement of said movie, RK, so please keep taking your time.  We got nothing but all the patience in the world for something that might come out after the franchise has gone fully dead & wilted on the vine.

Can just imagine epic trailer voice guy intoning, "Remember when TWD was actually good, about a decade ago, and this guy was the one they all wanted to shoulder the ever-growing pile of sh*t they shoveled on him?  Now watch as Rick "Dirty Beard" Grimes does R"DB"G thangs, except with a lot less company and stuff".

Walking Dead's Jeffrey Dean Morgan Embraces Negan-centric Spinoff Idea: 'There Are Still Stories to Be Told'
By Charlie Mason / September 6 2021
https://tvline.com/2021/09/06/the-walking-dead-negan-spinoff-after-series-ends/

Quote

The end of The Walking Dead may not mean the end of Negan, the (mostly?) reformed villain that Jeffrey Dean Morgan has played since Season 6’s finale. “There’ve been things discussed with me and network people,” he tells TVLine. “We’ll see. I mean, Negan could still find his way six feet under [before Season 11 concludes], so that could be a problem unless it’s a prequel.

“But there are still stories to be told with Negan,” he adds. “I kind of know how the season has worked itself so far, and we’re cracking open windows here and there that would lend themselves to more Negan story.”

If a spinoff were to come to pass, Morgan, it sounds like, would be all in. “I do love Negan,” he says. “There’s an amazing opportunity to dive a lot deeper into this man who I think has become very interesting the last few years. I’m certainly not opposed to keeping him alive for a bit longer and finding out more about him.”

Specifically, in the future, not the past. “I’ll be very honest with you, if I was to do more, I would like to move forward with the story and not backward,” he says. “I loved what we showed [of his history] in ‘Here’s Negan,’ but now we’ve done a lot of that story. We could do a short series on how the Saviors came to be, which would be kind of interesting, but I’m more looking forward.

“We’ve shown these different sides of Negan over the past few years,” he concludes. “Now I’d like to see, after this ends, what happens to him next. I find that possibility to be a lot more interesting than going back in time.”

There really needs to be a puke emoji reaction option for things like this.

TPTB really want to ruin the show's overall legacy, don't they!?  A series just about Negan (& maybe the Saviors)??  Holy f*ing shit, what an absolutely horrible idea!  Not even a series that would be either a 'prequel', or in the early days of TWD, would ever make me consider wasting even a millisecond thinking about ever watching it.

Dude, I would watch those types of shows & documentaries on History and the Discovery(+) network of channels billions & billions of times over and over again before I'd watch a "Negan" spin-off series.

The fact that they think there's enough Negan fans out there to make a spin-off series about him worth the effort, is frankly scary.  It can't be because all of them are purely JDM fans, who just happens to portray Negan, instead of the actual character.

Recap of Laurie Holden panel at Calgary Expo 2021 yesterday...

Calgary Expo 2021 Laurie Holden Panel
By Joelle Rondeau   September 11, 2021
https://gamerheadquarters.com/articles/calgary-expo-2021-laurie-holden-panel.html

Quote

An actor’s work happens prior to showing up on the set, there’s lots of prep work. You must learn the entire character prior to shooting. With that, the first season of The Walking Dead was very hard on her. It was difficult dealing with the heavy emotional toll the character had taken. Your body doesn’t know you’re acting, so that impacted her directly. Mentions really immersing one’s self in the role.
*  *  *
Then for some fun chats about the zombie school folks around her went to, with a dance background. All of the zombies have their own back stories and they were very nice on set. Made it harder for her to kill them. On set, Scott Wilson “Hershel” was her favorite cast mate, like a surrogate uncle.

A question was then asked about what she learned about herself while working on The Walking Dead. A reply was given, ”I’m stronger than I realized”. Another note was that fans think she was that character, and that actors in general don’t have control over what happens so it’s rough to deal with an audience reacting in a negative way.

It’s somewhat of a compliment in that it means she performed well, but notes that actors are separate from the roles they perform. It took a more personal direction afterwards talking about her family’s history of acting, and how she missed acting while in school so she began to shift back towards it. That emotion is universal, with The Majestic being the role that rekindled her passion for acting.

A final note was on the suggested romantic combination of Andrea and Michonne. They loved each other, they were each other’s person. It can be whatever you want it to be, friendship or romantic and how you perceive it. That about sums everything up, we have additional panel and other coverage from the show in our hub.

The Walking Dead Fans Commemorate Fifth Anniversary of Abraham and Glenn's Deaths: "It Still Hurts"

"You can breathe. You can blink. You can cry. Hell, you're all gonna be doing that," taunts Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) before beating Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) and Glenn (Steven Yeun) to death in "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be," a gory and gut-wrenching episode of The Walking Dead aired five years ago today. Aired on October 23, 2016, on AMC, the Season 7 premiere resolved a nearly seven-month-long cliffhanger when the episode, scripted by Scott Gimple and directed by Greg Nicotero, revealed the fate of Negan's first Lucille victim after a deadly game of "eeny, meeny, miny, moe."

Wow, five years ago yesterday, where does the time go 😱
