cherryblossom October 21, 2017 Share October 21, 2017 CMT has posted on FB a video of interviews with girls concerning travel-where are you dying to go, best family vacation, what do you drink on the plane etc. It starts off with Erica! She says her best family vacation (not with her family) was when her friend on the team, Jenna, invited her to join her family on a cruise! Kashara said she forgot she had a minature taser in her purse and TSA did not catch it. Lots of Erica, more than I wanted to see. Link to comment

Dccfanatic October 21, 2017 Share October 21, 2017 My unpopular opinions are.. I think it is time for Judy to hang up her boots and let someone else have a chance. It’s not that she is bad, but I think they could stand for some new blood. I think that the uniforms could use some updating. They have some great elements and I understand them being iconic, but I think that the shorts need to be refigured. There is a move during Thunderstruck where they turn to the back and pop and I think it is so unflattering. I think that the new dance studio looks awful. Hate the huge life size pics on the wall. Not impressed with Charlotte. I hate her slogan of “it’s not a right, its a privilege.”I am pretty sure that no one thinks it is a right to cheer for the DCC. I get the sentiment, but the slogan is dumb. Thunderstruck is the worst song and does not fire anyone up. When I look at the audience of videos, whether at the stadium or at events, I don’t see people get excited about the song. I don’t even mind the dance itself. I think the song is so dated and almost embarrassing. They could do way, way better. For ex, I loved the dance for the HoF. I don’t care about Phil during the try outs. I like Kitty, but I think she is laying her persona on thick. I am not sure how much she is like that in person. I do think she is harsh, etc, but I don’t see her throwing chairs in her studio like she did this season. That was so lame. Too much playing up for the cameras. Just be natural. I thought Whitney Isleib should have been canned for her Halloween outfit. How can you think that is OK in any world. She could have just dressed like him without the skin makeup. Come on girl. The incessant “Yes Ma’am” is lame. I think it is nice only if it comes natural to the person saying it and that is how they speak during their real life. Otherwise it comes off as fake and brown nosing. Do not like Salon Tangerine and their results. I think that Kelli is extremely beautiful and put together now, but I don’t see it when they show her earlier days. 5 Link to comment

LynneH October 21, 2017 Share October 21, 2017 (edited) Sorry so long: unpopular opinion my All time favorites: Kandi Harris - I loved that she didn't have the "DCC look" but she was a powerhouse dancer. Natalie Woods - loved her looks, personality and perseverance Brooke Sorenson - She tended to blend but her fun loving personality won me over Melissa Rycroft - she always had a smile even when the bosses didn't really like her. Abigail Klein - she was a shoo-in based on her looks but turned out to be an excellent dancer too and used it as a stepping stone to acting. Loni Lindsey - didn't have the "DCC look" because she looked "old" but loved her personality Meagan Sharp - not a stand out personality or dance wise, but she looked like she could handle whatever they threw at her. Tia Williams - she looked like she was always having fun Jacki Bob - same as Tia Ann Lux - - Same as Meagan Sharp - not a stand out but loved the "attitude". Brittany Schram - She had the DCC look they were after as well as maturity Mackenzie Lee - looks, personality, perseverance. Danielle Marie - I was/am envious of her hair! Loren Roeder - not sure why but, but was rooting for her. Holly Powell - powerful dancer Kelsey Lowrance - Stunning beauty Maddie M - non DCC looks but loved her personality and perseverance Yuko - terrible dancer but love her personality. I guess based on the list above I tended to prefer the "older" girls and girls that didn't have the DCC look. I absolutely despise the hair whipping of late. I mean sure, it's okay to have a few that do that, but the majority??? not so much. Wish they would make over the girls with hairstyles that actually flatter them. Also have some of them use ponytails for heaven's sake!. Most don't look good with long hair. I'm not a big fan of Christina personally but her shorter hairstyle absolutely flatters her. Most of them have too thin hair for the long hair look. Wish they would make the shorts bigger. I mean yeah, they look great on Jinelle who is a teeny tiny under weight person, but absolutely horrible on Kashara, who looks like she is actually at a more 'healthy" weight. Also, comparing the "foot attire" to other cheerleader organizations, I think the cowboy boot is much more flattering than the normal dance/cheer boot. And on another note: hate the Yes Ma'am", not only because it sounds ridiculous, but also the way they use it 80% of the time the girls do not appear to have a clue as to what K&J are talking about. This "Yes Ma'am" thing doesn't appear to allow them the opportunity to give a response of "I'm confused, can you show me?" Edited October 21, 2017 by LynneH 3 Link to comment

I do believe tina kalina was one of the ones dancing around with a fake dinosaur bone, ha! And the white trunks over the blue body suits- wow, that was certainly a look. And this video made me realize I've been wrong about something for a while. I always thought that prior to the tv show, they only asked a few more women to training camp than would make the team. I thought they'd inflated that number to 45ish so they could cut a lot more of them for the purposes of the show. But in this video, they took 45 to training camp back in 1989, so clearly they've been doing this for a long time. Link to comment

Anyone else hungry? Okay, after sampling this program and this site occasionally for a few years, I finally found excuse to register. I have literally been astonished that the topic I quoted is not front, center and everywhere on this forum. It overwhelms every other aspect of the program, and that's been true for years. I can't think of any reality program in which one tendency stands out like this one, year after year. In my household we never fail to be amazed and laugh out loud, as one wide eyed petrified rookie after another is so pathetic that she robotically nods her head and blurts out a submissive, "Yes, ma'am," as Kelli or Judy offer yet another meaningless brief summary. The odds of that rookie fully understanding and applying that pointer are roughly the same as Kelli never using the term world class again. I loved Chelsea. It may not have been the brightest move toward her roster status but after season after season of wimpy refusal to ask basic necessary questions at least somebody eventually displayed some spunk. Melissa Rycroft is ridiculed around here, and dismissed as unnecessary. I couldn't disagree more. She is the one who recognized that the cheerleaders couldn't be expected to grasp those absurd simplistic tips. Melissa instituted a video review, one by one. Well isn't that a breakthrough? My wife and I had only been calling for that since the first time we saw the show years earlier. No kidding you see the girls suddenly perk up and smile during those individual sessions, once they finally see on tape what the heck Kelli and Judy were referring to. It's hardly a surprise that someone who participated in a dance program would understand the value and necessity. But here's the problem with that type of segment. Rightfully it should be included every week. Essentially it's like a mulligan for Melissa to touch up everything Kelli and Judy failed to accomplish. But since the show doesn't want to concede that type of thing is necessary, they find bizarre detours for Melissa like those smiley exercise bikes. We howled. 1 Link to comment

Grace Sells would have been a good fit for the squad in every way. I especially liked her personality. Lauren came across as a little young. Now that she has more pro dance experience, I hope she comes back. Link to comment
Slew October 24, 2017 Share October 24, 2017 (edited) This probably won't be popular but IMO the two priorities should be appearance and personality/speaking ability. I'm a guy. Every comment I've ever heard about cheerleaders in the stands has been related to looks. Figure, face, energy and smile. It doesn't have to be huge chest, which is what many women think it means. I can't think of one time anybody cared about kicks or lines. The topic never surfaced in high school, college or all the pro games I've attended. For all the talk about blending, those are the aspects that blend. Nobody cares. If you want to know how many people in that stadium are preoccupied with Christina lacking 3 inches on her left leg kick, start with 2 max. Christina's hair is great this year and so is her smile. I've been rooting for her and I'm glad she made it. Romo's wife was seemingly the only one who understood this aspect, and prioritized appearance over irrelevant matters. Otherwise the public appearance significance is huge. I have a niece who is still a Jaguars fan based on meeting a cheerleader who was extremely nice and personable with her a few years ago. We don't even live in Jacksonville but happened to be visiting on a family matter and went to a Jaguars event. On this program it makes zero sense that the events receive so little spotlight, and specifically which cheerleaders excel in those matters and which ones mostly go through the motions. I think one time the specialist said something about a cheerleader who repeatedly turned down appearance opportunities. She should have been dumped immediately. On the other hand, I thought Kat really got a raw deal. Charlotte asked how could she be trusted to represent the organization. Wait a minute. She's already been on the squad a full year. You should know whether she can be trusted or not, in those public appearances and everything else, if you asked the proper questions throughout and actually cared about the matter, instead of mostly showing up when it's high profile CMT air time. When I look at the audience of videos, whether at the stadium or at events, I don’t see people get excited about the song. I don’t even mind the dance itself. I think the song is so dated and almost embarrassing. They could do way, way better. For ex, I loved the dance for the HoF. Thank you. Thunderstruck sucks. It reminds me of the old theory that a woman's hairstyle reflects her hair at the happiest time in her life. That's why you see 50-somethings with mall-bangs or kinky perns still. K & J are from the generation when that song was somewhat popular, and have apparently brainwashed themselves into thinking it's still a bad-ass song and have made it their tradition. I'm from the same generation, and I while I love AC/DC, Thunderstruck has always sucked. Join the 21st century, or retire already. 3 Link to comment
PBSLover October 24, 2017 Share October 24, 2017 I am guessing the choreography reflects times. I can’t find the words to describe the choreography in these old videos. It’s some ballet moves, some kicks and some jazzercise maybe? Link to comment
Slew October 24, 2017 Share October 24, 2017 The interview process is so random. That's what irritates me. On everything else you are asked to perform the same task. In gymnastics or diving terminology, they would share the identical degree of difficulty. Not in that interview room. Not even close. Some girls are handed lollipop questions while others are posed legitimate toughies. It's like a triple spinning double twist quadruple somersault dive being handled the same as touching your big toe into the water. I can't count how many times I've wondered if the squad makeup would have differed if the questioning had differed. Even when Kelsey supposedly nailed the question and the room burst into applause she didn't really have any idea what she was talking about. A linebacker is a defensive player but the responsibility is not often to sack the quarterback. Ask Kat and Kelsey separately to describe what a linebacker does and I wouldn't have had any problem assigning favoritism to who would supply the superior answer. Granted, we don't see everything in that interview process. I didn't care about Kat's dress. Maybe it was inappropriate although that didn't jump out to me at the time. In watching that segment I remember a distinct split in which Kelli seemed to think the criticism was overboard and so did the other woman whose name I forget right now. She normally sticks up for every borderline veteran and called Kat a "no brainer." Naturally the woman who asked the dress question went negative...prioritizing her own question. It was later during the review process that Charlotte sought her typical level. I never see any hint of rare insight. She zeroes in on one angle and pushes that to the exclusion of everything else. Kelli and Judy bow to her when they should ignore her. I think it's quite revealing that Charlotte will spend a partial day during tryouts because she knows that will be featured on opening episode of CMT but apparently never participates in training camp nights. She wouldn't stoop to devote the time and wouldn't know what she was looking at. Other than giving Danielle the benefit of a doubt I have little respect for Charlotte's participation on this program. 6 Link to comment

Leave the judging to experienced dancers and former Cheerleaders who know what it takes, and let Charlotte and the other C-list celebs judge show group. All those people do is get in the way and give us the one-and-done girls or the failed projects. 4 Link to comment
bk10 October 24, 2017 Share October 24, 2017 I just came here to say that this picture makes me uncomfortable. She looks like a child who should not be wearing that bathing suit or posing like that. Who picks these pictures? Link to comment

THIS. 10 hours ago, Slew said: If you want to know how many people in that stadium are preoccupied with Christina lacking 3 inches on her left leg kick, start with 2 max. AND this! I'm not sure this opinion is unpopular on here or just with Kelli. I've been watching several of the past seasons, so they're all kind of a mish-mash & I don't remember what season it was, but there was a TCC who said she was nervous with K & J watching her. When Kelli asked her if she can't handle that, how could she handle thousands of people watching her, and she said she finds that easier, which caused Kelli to more or less roll her eyes. Well, I completely agree with the TCC. I used to sing back in the day. For me, it was so much easier to see a bunch of generic eyes watching me than that one person you'd make eye contact with during an audition. 1 Link to comment

I could be totally wrong, but I think that this is actually a rule, that she can't mention being a DCC when dancing in a non-DCC capacity because it would imply it was DCC endorsed. 16 hours ago, HowdeeDo said: Shannon gave her more opportunities to talk than Jinelle it seems like, or maybe Kashara just talks a lot.
