I think our speculation here that they’re trying to drive viewers to Q2 is accurate. Having David on ITKWM, while Mary is also there, seems designed to get people to tune in.

David's fans will watch him anywhere.

But from what I've read, even his most ardent ones call his "Home" show a dud.

I don't know what they expected.  Q has a roster of product to push, and David is their Main Man to do it.

I think some of them expected him to hang drapes and reupholster a settee.

I think quite a few people were expecting new show = new products.  Instead it was new show = same old stuff.

To me it seems like David is getting more air time than Mary.

Definitely. At the top of the show they mentioned something about it being like the old days when MD was his side-kick on ITKWD so she's just doing occasional spots (like Stacy does on his shows now). Is this Q2 appearance supposed to accommodate his usual Saturday morning show being pre-empted? (But last I saw it, doesn't he share airtime with Kerstin?)

Over on HSN, Colleen has a new show called 'Saturday Blend.' Callie recently added 'Sunday Fashion Edit.' Just feels like they're slapping together new shows with their heavy-hitters or inserting them willy-nilly. But, as with DV's new 'Home with David' ...which offers nothing new in terms of concept or content...don't see the staying power of these shows just because X is hosting. And some of those hosts are really having to dig deep to feign enthusiasm for their new show (while they remind viewers to watch live on FB and post comments (which was commonplace with the Q for a long time, new to HSN). I'm sure some of the junior-league Q hosts love having their name attached to a certain gig but do they really have a large enough fan following to warrant it (CourtneyK, MaryN?)?

I think that’s in Alberti’s wheelhouse more so than David’s.

Last night during the Beauty Show Sandra was with facialist Olga who said her product was in high demand for the Golden Globes and made a point of mentioning Halle Berry twice as a client.

Usually they say they can't mention names and are coy about it.  What's the rule?   Maybe Halle gave permission, or doesn't give a ****?

I guess celebs don't want to be viewed as endorsing a product (unless compensated).

Good Lord! Where does Blabby find these dresses?? Can I declare a winner of the next fashion poll six months early?

Blabby is starting to look like a later years Liza Minelley. Her make-up looks like she’s trying to be seen in the back of the theater.🤡

Yas - but her hair looks good today, piecey/spiked.  It's thinning & wavy - I know that struggle...Jane does have good legs, IMO, "dancer's" calves being more attractive than sticks. Now, just learn to dress for age & attributes!

My guess is one of her daughters whipped it up. It definitely looks like a costume for a high school production of Saturday Night Fever, the Musical.

Does conjure up my sewing adventures back in the 60s when manufacturers were somewhat new to poly. They were quite heavy, but slimy feeling, slippery and, too often, gaudy, to distract from the 'fabrication.' Wasn't thinking SNF...but yodeling comes to mind.

These three look lovely this morning! Yeah, I know Jen is in an off-the-shoulder dress again, but it’s so nice to see the hosts dressed up for a change (athough these three generally dress nicely, unlike some of the others). I guess the ladies have to up their game for Beauty Day.

Too many neck strings in that picture for me. Poor MBR.

I think it's fine and everything that Leah has dropped whatever weight she did because she wanted to, but I am mildly PO'd at her for doing so because she no longer represents the "larger" viewership. In my mind, she's sold us out in order to join the Smaller Size Club.

A High School Sound of Music production?

Did they show the two of them together in a shot? Because I was flicking through when she handed it off to him for the Le Creuset cast iron casserole dish presentation, and I could have sworn that it was a repeat of a presentation I had previously seen.

It also looks like the garb of a magician's assistance on Ed Sullivan, circa 1960 - just before stepping into the box to be sawed in half.

I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps that's the reason behind wearing all those hideous dresses - she's trying to get a daughter's (non)designing skills noticed.

Thanks to the poster in qvc thread that sent me over here....I have been over there all alone repeating WHAT THE F is she wearing???  WHAT THE F????  How in the hell did that awful thing make it on live tv????  Now I have to know everything about it......who makes it...where did it come from....how much is it?  What is it?  OMG I can't stop watching!  Did she lose a bet and wearing that on LIVE TV is her punishment?  Or is it like the puffy shirt on Seinfeld and she didnt know she agreed to wear it?   It has to be a joke, right?  RIGHT??

That...although, it has a touch of 'Renaissance Festival meets Grand Ole Opry,' (circa [insert any date]) as well.

I haven’t watched much over the past few months with the exception of a quick channel check during the day. I hadn’t seen Leah in a while and I didn’t recognize her. If it weren’t for her recognizable voice, I wouldn’t have known it was her.

Occasionally when I get up at 6 to get the kids ready for school, I flip to the two Q channels for a second or two. I caught a few of the new blonde hosts and they seem pleasant enough.

Here goes Urban Decay OAPS  piling on the makeup with frosted shadows no less enhancing crowsfeet, wrinkles and puffy undereye circles like I've never seen!!

Aims also has on sooooo much makeup. Too much contouring, bronzer and black eyeliner she looks 10 yrs older and you can barely see her eyes. Another one who loves her clavicles.  It's bitter cold here in the northeast.

If Amy isn't anorexic, she's darned close. And she needs to step away from the faux tanner.  It's overdone to the point where the palms of her hands are pumpkin colored.

I had a pair back then.  Pinstripe grey.  Nicely fitted through the waist & hips.  Looked nothing like the monstrosity in the picture.

I recently got the cutest pair of tie waist /high waist mustard colored palazzo pants for summer ( for cheap too at Boscov's). I swear they're cute LOL. And long enough, but not too long. They bring to mind 70s clothing, very Three's Company LOL. I love all those looks so much.

Hopefully, it's a one of a kind.

Sort of the Q version of haute couture.

But God love her, Janie treats every single presentation like a performance, with costume changes.

I was thinking that it was like an outfit that some alien culture would be wearing on Star Trek: The Next Generation. (Only they would probably add some sort of head dressing to it 😁.)

But Riverdance works just as well, lol.

That bib segment looks like Naugahyde. Luckily, since Naugas shed their skin, none would have been killed in the making of that dress. ~wink~

Quote

A marketing campaign of the 1960s and 1970s asserted humorously that Naugahyde was obtained from the skin of an animal called a "Nauga". The claim became an urban myth.[3] The campaign emphasized that, unlike other animals, which must typically be slaughtered to obtain their hides, Naugas can shed their skin without harm to themselves.[4] The Nauga doll, a squat, horned monster with a wide toothy grin, became popular in the 1960s and is still sold today.[5]

When I first saw Jane’s awful dress, my first thought: Gunny Sac, early 1970’s.  My mom made me a dress that style when I was in grade school.  It really looks like a vintage long dress that was shorten.

I used to get those catalogs and look at every page. I finally ordered a few items. Everything was noticeably smaller than the photos. My Dobosh Torte was dry, as were the petit fours. The candied apricots were good but again the package was much smaller than the catalog picture. (also a shopping channels tactic) I haven't ordered since.

January 12th is Antonella's and Rick's birthday.

Thanks for the input, TT.  I was reading some Dobosh reviews on line where they also complained about the product's dryness.  The petit fours too.   Drat.  Now I'm wondering about that cute little mousie Noel chocolate log.

Re: Rick -- I heard him say to Denise Austin:  "I'll be here forever -- I'm not going anywhere!"

Bronxoni predicts that Antonella will stay at the Q for just another year or so -- then depart due to some sort of intense family situation.

Was disappointed the couple times I flipped by. Had really enjoyed him in a late-night VPH show, last Fall(?), in which he offered some nice decorating tips, clearly enjoyed moving around the set, offering suggestions on how to incorporate her pieces, etc. Was surprised by how adept and comfortable he seemed to be with products I'd not seen him present before. His ITKWD shtick gets old, redundant, so was nice to see him genuinely enthused, thoroughly engaged. Had hoped the DHWD show would offer this side of DV, allow him to step away from his kitchen apron persona and show content.

I remember not that long ago David used to do this "retro" style Christmas show and the producers weren't exploiting his "bigness" then -- as I recall the products presented were normal sized and DV didn't seem as, for lack of a better word, desperate, back then.

I don't, however, really think of Venable as any sort of amateur decorator the way Alberti seems to be.  David says his favorite colors are brown and black, and apparently that's how he likes his kitchen and bedroom.  More, it seems, of a traditional manly vibe; i.e. boring, lol.

I agree with you about ITKWD -- I haven't seen him with Valerie but imagine it would be refreshingly enjoyable.
