These seasons got so long, I can’t fault the writers for not remembering what they did or didn’t do in one season. I still have to say it’s so funny how long these seasons were- and I’ll say it again I never watched these in real time I always watched them on soapnet, I always assumed they were different seasons not all in one season.

I do love that the show has no subtlety as to set design.  Jim and Cindy are in Hong Kong?  Well, of course, every single thing in their apartment is Asian-influenced.  The doorbell sound is probably a giant gong going off.  I'd imagine if they relocated to Mexico City, they'd decorate their house with sombreros, ponchos, bandito-style art and Mexican blankets (with bonus points if Cindy is wearing one of those Mexican-style dresses that were popular in the 80s).

I thought our fearless hosts would have been happier to see Jim, but I guess Brandon's awfulness had to ruin that too.  It's insane that we're supposed to find Brandon and Kelly rootable here, nothing is standing in their way but their own stupidity!

Good lord, I never put my feet on the couch in my own home if I had my shoes on.  I couldn't even imagine doing that at my brother's home.  Jim should have kicked Brandon in the ribs as hard as humanely possible for that.

Yeah until this podcast (and I’m being dead serious as I only watched 90210 via soapnet because they would play mini marathons of this and the play The OC and One Tree Hill and they were my shows- not 90210) I thought that was a season finale for YEARS! Until this podcast. It was all one season. I’m real curious at how they were able to get these long seasons, I know when the kids were in high school, they did “summer” seasons but once they stopped doing those.. it was incredibly confusing. This podcast is at least helping me out as someone who has never watched in real time. I’m still totally confused on the timelines though because the kids are always on some damn vacation and flying off to trips and having parties for things but whatever.

"A little less than she cares about me... but she's eager to please and a warm body so...."  I really hated the whole Tracey storyline and given how it all resolves, *spoiler alert* the way Brandon fawns over her in the Hawaii episodes in the S8 premiere make absolutely no fucking sense either.

I'm definitely confused as to why these seasons were so long. And also why this season wasn't the last one. Did anyone really care anymore? My bf suggested the it was the liver spotted hand of Aaron Spelling controlling Fox but I don't know. He probably didn't care either!

Speaking of how long the seasons are, Jim and Cindy have been gone for less than 2! They left at the end of season 5 (sophomore year for the "kids"). I always remembered this episode as being closer to the end of the season, but there's still soon much to go. Although, I'm not looking forward to 8-10 because if you think it couldn't get worse...

Argh. Donna's plot here is one of my most hated tropes. It's anti-science bullshit. It's mildly alleviated here by the fact that they are rich enough to afford full time care at home and so probably can give him a similar level of care as a facility (but obviously this is far beyond Donna's ideas about helping him peel oranges and tie ties). The worst version of this trope is when someone in the ER crashes and the doctors perform CPR, but stop because there is no response, so another character kisses their supposedly dead loved one, or weeps on their chest, or pounds them screaming 'You can't die yet!' and brings them back. Bonus terrible points if the doctors then proclaim it a miracle.

I have done that in my parents' house. Fair to say they weren't too happy.

To be fair on Brandon. I would miss Tracey if I had to be with Kelly.

Seriously, with Donna's attitude, how could he not be Team Felice?  If this was real life, Donna would get a call from her mother at 9 AM, the day after he got back, saying that she was trying to help Dr. Martin to use the bathroom, was blinded by Donna's stupid glass prisms, dropped him and now he is dead.

And Donna was all “I will be there as much as possible”.. so, yeah, when? Like that means never or for weekly dinners and to help out with nothing.

I don't yet why she was flipping out either, Felice wasn’t sending him away forever, she was sending him somewhere where he could get better faster and find ways to manage on his own and Felice isn’t equipped to deal with this because she isn’t a medical professional! She doesn’t have The tools for this. Also it bugs because this isn’t like a 16 year old Donna crying about her dad not being home.. which even that’s too old to be doing that but it’s more understandable than a college aged Donna crying about this situation. She doesn’t live at home; she doesn’t know what it’s going to be like for Felice AT ALL. This arrangement would have hardly affected Donna. But she got her way so it’s all moot.

Also.. props to Steve and Claire and dealing with kelly buying the ring back and being like “yeah..okay” on the whole thing. I completely forgot she bought the ring back and it just is so desperate. I’m sorry it is. Like.. okay. I don’t even know what to say about it.

I wish Val had a better storyline. It seems like they ran out of gas in regards to her and her stories and now they’re just bidding time.

Seriously, Donna, overreact much?? She's not sending him out back with Old Yeller! It's a rehab facility, with trained healthcare PROFESSIONALS 24/7 and all the equipment they would need ALREADY on hand (sans prisms, tho).

Donna was flipping out because she is a child.  She's too simple to understand what a person might need after they have a stroke that leaves them in a weakened state.  She apparently thinks it is something like a 24 hour flu, and it can be cured with wuv.  It killed me that Felice broke down at the end and retroactively justified her daughter's complaints.

I became irrationally infuriated with Donna in this episode. Did it not occur to her that maybe being at a facility with professionals would allow her dad to maintain some dignity? Allow everyone to learn to adapt without having to direct his medical care? Is she going to schedule the physical therapist? Occupational therapist? Respiratory specialist? Speech therapist? Having a stoke, particularly if left partially paralyzed, can mean trouble eating because of numbness in the mouth or difficulty with swallowing. It can create respiratory issues. It's not just needing someone to peel your orange. I raged at my family about this because I was so angry about it. I know she's supposed to be a saint but these moments she has where we are supposed to think she's so wonderful are often her being very selfish.

This annoyed me. Do you remember when Joe had a heart problem and Donna saw something on tv about an experimental heart surgery? and she was mad at his brother for being skeptical about the surgery and of course ended up getting her way and told the brother he was just jealous of Joe? So you see an ad on a commercial for an "experimental" HEART surgery and without even knowing anything about it, Donna gets nasty with her father who is a cardiologist and Joe's brother because they didn't just want to jump right into it. Okay Donna.

But anyway she did it again with her father's stroke. Instead of letting professionals help him get better, Donna gets mad and insists her mother takes care of him.. but oh yea, she'll be there AS MUCH AS SHE CAN. He needs 24/7 care. If you don't intend on being there 24/7, shut it.

Also they're rich, it's probably a really nice facility with a fountain in the lobby and he has his own room with a balcony. It's not like he would be going to the kind of place that would be exposed as a death factory on 60 Minutes.

Even if Donna had intended on being there 24/7, she still needs to shut it, as it isn't her choice to make.   And as any caretaker can tell you, round the clock care for a person is hard, very draining and is emotionally fraught.

I had a thought - if they needed someone to parachute in and give Brandon and Kelly this last push towards each other, you know who would have made more sense?  Andrea!  Nanna comes to town to visit and, given how well she knows those idiots and given she was kinda part of the initial push to them becoming a couple, she would recognize that Brandon wasn't that into Tracy and push him to end it and be with Kelly.

This would have been spot-on perfect.  She was really into them hooking up and talked Kelly into visiting Brandon in DC.  And she full-on told Kelly to choose Brandon vs "herself".   A second runner up would have been Emily Valentine who could finally "let Brandon go".

What I don't understand is why Brandon never found Emily valentine after Kelly dumped him . Supposedly he was so in love with Emily even during Kelly . If I was him , when Kelly chose herself , I would have been like .. and I choose Emily
