I agree. She also spent how many months in that unhealthy relationship with Ro and fighting the felony charge of Domestic Battery By Strangulation in court. She leads a "colorful life" shall we say.

Jen is really lucky she doesn't work for Jeff Lewis or her outfit would have been way worse.

He would have made her wear that outfit all day and out in public.  But then, he would have fired her lazy ass by now also.

Agree with everyone about the Bananas Foster. I had it once at a wedding and it did not look anything like that.  And it was personally flambed for any guest that wanted it. If nothing else, he should have had Bruno flambe it at the table.  When I had it, it had a caramel color to it from the flambe'd alcohol.  Also.  there should always be vanilla ice cream available. Who knows when a guest would want a sundae, milk shake or even a brandy Alexander.  Bruno's cheesecake balls looked great.

Agree with all of the guests saying boat people.  Do they go to a hotel and say hotel people?  Very condescending.

How quick the world changes, the Harvey Weinstein name drop carries different meaning now.

We started to watch a movie on Netflix the other night and "The Weinstein Company" came up in the opening credits.  All three of us said, "Eww" at the same time.

Cheers to Bruno. I disliked him at the beginning of the season and thought that he'd be the first with a plane ticket home. He's kept his head down, learned the job (somewhat but he was totally green) and seems to be willing to pitch in wherever needed. He's been a sushi plate, deckhand and now sous chef.

I like Bruno a lot. He'd be great in the interior. He also seems to understand that you don't motivate your employees or coworkers by being dickish. coughKatecough.

Now, there would be a different storyline we haven't seen yet - next season move a deckhand into the interior. #bringbackBruno.

But at this point, the premise is so tired. And Kate and Lee are just going through the motions. I wonder if there will be a next season

Nico is childish and entitled. There's something about his looks that turn me off and are not interesting to me at all.  Plus, he and Bri are disgusting to watch.  His girlfriend better watch carefully, what he'll do once he'll do again....   Bri knows exactly what she's doing.  I wanted to like her but she's just boring and a sneak.  She knows Nico has a girlfriend but still encourages him at every turn. Gah!

The Chef is not fun to watch.  Drunk or mooning over his ex girlfriend....  I'm not interested.  I need Food Porn on this expensive yacht!  And sadly I don't think this guy can deliver it. I miss Ben.  Heck I miss ol' Beef Cheeks!  sigh....

Why would you need a theme on a beach???  How about enjoying the insane beauty of being on the beach?  You need football crap to make it fun?  If you need a theme for everything, that is very sad.

Right? Football and tailgating is likely a very normal part of their lives. A yacht vacation should be taking a break from normal life and enjoying NEW experiences. Ugh, the themes just do my head in.

I would have liked to see Kate having to manage a male steward and I think Bruno might have been better suited there.  Every season there's a big deal made about a female deckhand, why not a male stew?

Matt, I'm gonna need to stop making bananas foster.  Just.  Stop.

No one forces anyone to cheat, so I can't drag Bri for Nico's decisions. No, it's not classy to get with someone who has a partner, but the real shit here is Nico. If he was a good guy, deeply committed to his relationship, Bri could shake her ass all she wanted and it would make no difference. The responsibility for remaining true to his girlfriend is Nico's, not Bri's.

Matt is also a disappointment, not just in the cooking area, but in the relationship area, as well. He dumped his girlfriend due to her disapproval of his drinking, but it's also likely he wanted to be single for this cruise. Then as soon as he got dumped he suddenly realized his girlfriend was the one for him. I hope the girlfriend saw through the ruse even before she saw the episode.

I'm thoroughly enjoying Nico looking like the complete entitled brat and whiny two faced douchebag that he is. He really sucks at his job too. He is also a cheater as well and with someone as unappealing and boring as Bri. lol.

I would have loved to see Kate manage a male steward, especially because we've seen guests be so much more handsy with male crew that I wonder how that might have been with the interior crew that has more intimate contact with the guests. Not that I want to watch people get sexually harassed, but it might have been an interesting to explore our societal double standards.

Matt's chef repertoire is severely limited. He should have a couple of desserts that he can reliably bang out--creme brulee, crepes, cookies, mousse, cake, trifle, granita, and a tart. Nothing too fancy, but stuff he can dress up with fruits, whipped cream, a couple of different reductions. I'm just so appalled that Kate had to be the one who suggested that Matt recaramelize the bananas and make fresh whipped cream.

Totally agree.  So much so that for me it practically goes without saying: What Nico does to betray his relationship is on him.  If you're the outside party and you set your sights on someone in a committed relationship with the belief that everyone is fair game, you may not be a nice person, but at least you're honest.  However, if your mantra is a constant "I would never go after a guy with a girlfriend" and we see you doing exactly the opposite of what you swear you wouldn't do, then you're the worst kind of hypocrite.  And you're a little shit to other women.  She wants the halo while she's swinging the forked tail.  Can't do both.

Yeah that is my issue and based on her interview with Kate I kind of got the feeling that she was just doing it for a storyline because she said he wasn't really her type which makes her extra shady in my book though still not as shady as Nico. Seriously, it's six weeks it shouldn't be difficult to not be touching the ass of your coworker.

What exaI mlssed the second bananas foster.  I saw the aftermath and thought it was just too much non-vanilla ice cream.  What exactly happened that Kate had to suggest he recaramelize and make fresh whipped cream?

He originally served the mush with chocolate ice cream. The guests were not happy, sent them back asking for vanilla. He didn't have any vanilla, so Kate suggested sweetened whipped cream. So he scraped off the chocolate, and Kate suggested he re-caramelize the bananas. Mush getting mushier.

I also wanted to add that Kate originally asked Matt if there were any fresh bananas for him to start from scratch. Matt's response was no. So he used all of the bananas up on day 1 and had no vanilla ice cream.

I'd have to rewatch his cooking scenes, but I'm pretty sure Matt is using frozen bread. I believe there is a bread machine and an ice cream maker in the galley. I understand not making bread. I kind of suck at it too, but there is a ton of ways Matt could step it up. I also don't know why he can't make a 3 course meal unless told to by Kate or the guests. It's a special sort of failure of imagination.

And apparently they were frozen to start with so that is why they were so mushy, everytime I freeze bananas they are mushy when they are thawed which is fine because I just use them for bread, muffins or smoothies, so mushy doesn't matter but also made me wonder why he made the dish to begin with other than him being an unimaginative chef.

@biakbiak seriously?!?!??? Frozen? Ugh. Your average person knows that frozen bananas go mushy. I've used them for banana cheesecake, cake, muffins, and banana 1 ingredient ice cream. He could have done a riff on bananas foster by making cake or french toast/pain perdu, topped with 1 ingredient banana ice cream, bananas foster sauce, and vanilla whipped cream.

Maybe he should have just called it Bananas Foster Pudding!  They weren't really caramelized to start with, they were just warmed.

I feel like this season is definitely falling short if the only thing I can get worked up about, in more than one episode thread, is Bananas Foster (or the lack thereof).

I was only half paying attention to this episode so I don't have any cents to add in to the fresh versus frozen banana debate, but as far as not having extra fresh bananas, I kinda get that. With the rate at which bananas go bad (which is sooner rather than later for me, if not perfectly ripe I prefer then on the green side, otherwise banana bread it is) and the two or three day charters with the ability to get more supplies in between I wouldn't overstock fresh produce, either.

The vanilla ice cream is another story. I'd have tons of that. and hot fudge or chocolate sauce, just because.

I'm watching the episode.  Captain Lee was the one who asked Leigh Anne and her husband about the movie.  I'm sure that was producer driven, wanting we, the audience to get who they were.

I don't think Kate was mean to Jen; I don't think Kate was inappropriate to Jen either.  They are in a competitive industry and whomever has the best service, whomever makes the guests happy, wins.

I've been on more than a few cruises and a lot of times they do silly things for the guests; they do that because they want guests to come back, cruise ships depend on repeat business.

Supposedly you can increase the life span of bananas dramatically by wrapping the stem end of a bunch tightly in plastic or aluminum foil.  Haven't tried it yet, because we're a house divided when it comes to bananas.  My husband likes them just barely past green, and I won't eat them till they start showing brown freckles.  So I get his discards.  Matt should try that if he's going to be so reliant on banana-based desserts.  Or he could learn a few new recipes.

If you've got milk, sugar, eggs and vanilla, you HAVE everything you need to make VANILLA ICE CREAM ! (I like "simple" food, BUT it has to be perfectly made and the quality of the products is essential... And it doesn't appear that's the case now :( )

Kate: An abusive bullying type who tries to mask it by using humor and her job as an excuse.

Nico: Much like Kate and Bri, Nico lacks character. He's a whiney, immature, bratty and two faced. He is lazy in his work and a cheater when it comes to his love life. Not much else good to say about him although I feel bad that his brother passed away I find it  a little odd he is doing the show so soon afterwards.

Bri: She's not a good person.

The only people I would want to hang around in real life would be Baker and Bruno, EJ (although annoying I could get past it) and maybe Matt (even if he's not the best chef he seems down to earth)

EJ: Although he's dorky and annoying at times he seems to be a better leader and harder worker than Nico. He's also handled things more maturely than the rest of them have (he could have ran to Captain Lee and told on Nico for all the crap Nico did but chose not to). Kudos to him.

I think her alcohol related arrests are at least 6-7 years old and we haven't seen anything (that I remember) showing her having a problem controlling her drinking so hopefully it's under control at this point. I agree she looks shockingly old but she's one of the few crew members who hasn't gotten belligerently wasted and we've seen her through many seasons now. It's a mystery to me.

Whatever her drinking escapades were, it looks like they were in the past. Every time we see her socializing now she has kept her drinking well under control. Her old girlfriend Ro was gross.
I think living in the sun has probably aged Kate the most. The sun is brutal to skin and Kate doesn't look like she's got a lot of melanin protecting her.

Here's a mean question, why didn't Kate get her hair done right before filming started? She began with long, dark roots.

Where do they get these Randos?..and Who hired the Writers?

I want to see a show that emphasises the job, the journeys, the guests! Not a bunch of "summer job" non-drama. People making $ while fucking up their jobs and then getting drunk on day off. Same old same old. I did that shit every summer in Rehoboth Beach since I was 15-21. Except better.

100% agree. I felt the same way last season with the entire Eddie/Rocky debacle and felt like smacking people who pointed a finger at her. Rocky seduced him. Rocky shouldn't have done it. Blah blah blah. Eddie fucked up. Nico fucked up. Putting any blame on the person with whom the cheater cheated with is completely wrong, IMO. If my husband cheated on me, I wouldn't like the other woman - but 0% of the blame would go to her, even is she knew he was married. My husband is the one who is married. He is in the committed relationship. She should be able to walk around naked and giving him lap dances and he is responsible for saying no and walking away, not her. Doesn't make her a nice person, but also doesn't make her culpable.

Bri and Rocky can try and entice all they want, it isn't their responsibility or fault because Eddie and Nico are cheating cheaters who cheat.

I know I'm a bit late to this party, as I just started watching this show a few weeks back and of course I'm binging it. I will say, I'm 100% amazed at what a complete douchebag Nico is. If my manager brought in someone to supervise me after giving me a shot to have my own team and failing miserably, I would horrified and working my ass off to learn and prove myself. Nico is a terrible lead deckhand and immediately copped an attitude with EJ, his boss. I have honestly been scratching my head saying, "Is this guy for real? Seriously?"
