It has been 20 years since I first noticed Ming Na Wen/Agent Melinda May in her love scene with Wesley Snipes/Blade who may or may not be rolled into the MCU in the Johnny Blaze days, along with Crazy Cal Johnson/Hyde starring as part of the two lead couples in One Night Stand.  Robert Downey Jr/Tony Stark-Iron Man

I saw that Elizabeth Henstridge is going to be in one of the multitude of Hallmark Christmas movies (Christmas at the Plaza) this year. I guess you gotta pay the bills. It was weird hearing her speak with an American accent in a preview clip that I saw.

Right you are.  No doubt “paying the bills” speaks volumes.  Read one well-known Broadway actor's bio (he also dabbles in movie/and occasionally TV) where he talked about showing up in less than stellar roles/pictures. He said that whenever he was between shows and funds got iffy he'd call up his agent and say: "get me something". Suspect we’ll not find any of those somethings on his resume.

Well, she is still under contract with AoS, which limits her options. Small productions are a possibility, but she can't take another TV role on the side (unless maybe a guest appearance) and she can't do a big movie. Plus, she is the "type" which fits in those Hallmark movies.

Agents has wrapped filming for season 7, its all over. They are just doing any post production work as they await the ABC schedule slot next year. From here on forward anything connected to the show would be any last promo interviews and reunion panels at conventions.

She really does fit Hallmark’s type. I have heard a few interviews with Hallmark actors and they all rave about how great it is to work for them. Once an actor get on Hallmark’s list they can get a ton of jobs with that only require a short time commitment. Most of those movies are filmed in 2-3 weeks.

EXCLUSIVE: Uma Thurman is to star in a remake of Israeli drama False Flag for AppleTV+.

The Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction star will front Suspicion, a high-paced thriller about the kidnapping of the son of a prominent American businesswoman, played by Thurman.

Thurman, is joined in the series by Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory), Noah Emmerich (The Americans), Georgina Campbell (Black Mirror), Elyes Gabel (Scorpion), Elizabeth Henstridge (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) and Angel Coulby (Dancing On The Edge).

Twenty-one year-old Leo’s abduction from a large, upmarket hotel in central New York is captured on video and goes viral. Swiftly, four British citizens staying at the hotel become the prime suspects. But are they guilty of anymore than being in the wrong place at the wrong time?
*  *  *
It is based on the Hebrew-language TV series, which was created by Amit Cohen and Maria Feldman. The original, which first aired on Israel’s Channel 2 in 2015, tells the story of five people, who wake up one morning to find themselves implicated in a ruthless kidnapping operation following the disappearance of the Iranian Defence Minister. As news bulletins repeatedly broadcast their names and photos, their attempts at denial are all in vain – the coverage sweeps them up in a maelstrom of publicity. At first, everyone is convinced that Mossad was behind the operation – but then the five civilians are stunned to discover that the government, which is supposed to protect them, as well as Mossad itself, denies all involvement and accuses them as suspects.

Chloe Bennet will star in a new CW series...

‘The Powerpuff Girls’: Chloe Bennet, Dove Cameron & Yana Perrault To Headline CW’s Live-Action Reboot Pilot

The CW has found its Powerpuff Girls. Chloe Bennet (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), Dove Cameron (Descendants) and Yana Perrault (Jagged Little Pill) are set as the leads in the network’s live-action pilot The Powerpuff Girls.

Written by Diablo Cody and Heather Regnier and directed by Maggie Kiley based on the original Cartoon Network animated series created by Craig McCracken, The Powerpuff Girls follows Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, who used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes. Now they’re disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crimefighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?

Bennet will portray Blossom Utonium. Although she was a spunky, conscientious, Little-Miss-Perfect child who holds several advanced degrees, Blossom’s repressed kiddie-superhero trauma has left her feeling anxious and reclusive, and she aims to become a leader again — this time on her own terms.
*  *  *
The Powerpuff Girls is produced by Berlanti Productions and Vita Vera Films in association with Warner Bros. Television. Cody and Mars executive produce with Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, David Madden and Kiley. Erika Kennair produces.

ETA: Dove Cameron was also on Agents of SHIELD.

‘Young Sheldon’ Season 5: ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ Star Ming-Na Wen to Guest Star
Jim Halterman    JANUARY 27, 2022
https://www.tvinsider.com/1030102/young-sheldon-season-5-ming-na-wen-book-of-boba-fett/

Quote

And now the sitcom’s prequel, Young Sheldon, is heading to a galaxy far, far away by adding Ming-Na Wen, currently starring as Fennec Shand on Disney+’s The Book of Boba Fett, as a guest star! TV Insider has learned exclusively that the star of The Mandalorian spinoff will appear in a February episode titled, “A Free Scratcher and Feminine Wiles.”

In the episode, Wen plays Dr. Carol Lee, director of experimental cosmology at East Texas Tech University, who will butt heads with 11-year old student Sheldon Cooper (Iain Armitage). Given Sheldon has a knack for driving professors like Dr. Grant Linkletter (Ed Begley, Jr.) and President Linda Hagemeyer (Wendie Malick) more than a little crazy with his incessant questions and suggestions, will he also test Dr. Lee’s patience?

We’ve gotten used to seeing Wen kick some serious butt in Boba Fett, The Mandalorian, and previous series like Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., but she also has a number of sitcom credits to her name, so a guest spot on Young Sheldon wasn’t as much of a stretch as you might think. “I was really looking forward to it because I try to infuse as much comedy into all my characters as possible, even with Fennec,” Wen tells us.

She continues, “I love it when the fans are telling me that they’re laughing at this line or the relationship that I have with Boba. It just makes the character so much more interesting.”

The Young Sheldon episode featuring Wen is scheduled to air on February 24 at 8/7c on CBS.

I had not been spoiled that Ming-Na Wen was appearing on Young Sheldon. I actually screamed out loud, "Oh my God, it's Ming-Na!" The show has been lacking this season, but she makes every show she's in so much better. 🙂 She shared a scene with Wendie Malick near the end of the episode that was terrific.

I always love seeing her on my screen.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Vet Elizabeth Henstridge on Directing Big Superman & Lois Drama: 'We're Going to Break Your Heart'
By Matt Webb Mitovich / March 7 2022
https://tvline.com/2022/03/07/elizabeth-henstridge-superman-and-lois-director-season-2-clark-prisoner/

Quote

For Elizabeth Henstridge‘s directorial debut, as a cast member of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., she wound up delivering one of TV’s greatest time loop episodes. And while her second time behind the camera, for The CW’s Superman & Lois (airing this Tuesday at 8/7c), didn’t involve such a brain-hurting, circular narrative, it presented challenges of its own, which she details in the TVLine Q&A below.
*  *  *
TVLine spoke with Henstridge — who currently costars on Apple TV+’s Suspicion — about excitedly visiting Smallville, pulling no punches with a brutal fight, and lessons learned from S.H.I.E.L.D.

TVLINE | How did this particular directing opportunity come to you?
This is my dream show and my dream job, so I was gunning for a while to direct an episode. I love the superhero genre, and I kind of launched a targeted attack on Berlanti Productions [Laughs], aiming toward a lot of his shows. Superman & Lois is top of my list, so with my [directed] episode of S.H.I.E.L.D., I was able to get meetings with people over there and work my way through to getting to meet with [showrunner] Todd Helbing. I just love everything he does, I love what he says in the shows that he’s involved in, and I love Superman & Lois, so I basically just talked his ear off for an hour. I think that to shut me up he was like, “You can helm an episode!

TVLINE | The S.H.I.E.L.D. episode you directed of course handed you a doozy of a premise, and you in turn delivered one of TV’s great time loop episodes. What challenges did this episode of Superman & Lois present?
Thank you! It has a lot of fighting in it, and a lot of wire work, a lot of big green screen…. I’ve done green screen, but when I walked into this set I was like, “Oh!” I may have been overconfident.
*  *  *
TVLINE | Do you think that if you instead hailed from a procedural, you’d have been thrown by the amount of green screen, wire work, etcetera, or might you not have been pursuing an opportunity on a genre show?
It’s tough to know. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gave me many gifts, and one of them is the knowledge that I love fight scenes. I love consuming them as a viewer and I also love being there when they’re happening. I love stunt people and hearing how their minds work, and how diligent they are with training and creating these incredible, character-driven action scenes. I think what I love about Superman & Lois and some of these other superhero shows is you get the best of both worlds — in TV you get to know these characters over hours and hours and hours, so you care about them and you earn those very emotional moments. But then you also get to do this kickass fight scene with all his crazy stuff.

That's an understatement. I saw the name, and went "Who?" I looked up the episodes she was in, and went "Who?" again. Seems she had a couple lines over three episodes as a generic villain sidekick. Even after looking up the episode summaries, I have no idea who this character was.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. vet Iain De Caestecker looks to be having a royally good time in the first trailer for MGM+’s The Winter King, which premieres Sunday, Aug. 20 at 9/8c.

Described as a “a bold and revisionist take on well-loved Arthurian legends” and based on the Warlord Chronicles novels by Bernard Cornwell, The Winter King “is set in the fifth century, long before Britain was united, in a brutal land of warring factions and tribes, where lives were often fleeting,” according to the official synopsis. “The series follows Arthur Pendragon as he evolves from outcast to legendary warrior and leader.”

Jordan Alexandra (Bridgerton) co-stars as Guinevere, with Nathaniel Martello-White (I Hate Suzie) as Merlin, Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan) as High King Uther, Ellie James (I May Destroy You) as Nimue and Stuart Campbell (Rogue Heroes) as Derfel.
