Re Shawn:  To paraphrase one of my favorite movie characters, her shtick had everything but the bloodhounds snapping at her rear end.

Watching this little melodrama play out, it confirms to me that Claire is the talented one of the two, and this is just my perception, but her emotions during this whole thing seemed a lot more genuine than Shawn's, who is probably the biggest phony I've seen on this show since I-don't-know-when.  I'd even go so far as to say if you split those two up, Claire might actually be a smidge OK to hang out with in real life.  MAYBE.

Sigh.  The big twins spectacular they've been building towards since before the show began!  I'm glad it's past.  No surprise Shawn just threw a fit and cried and couldn't come up with anything and quit, then made it sound all noble.  "I've conceded".  Love how Claire just kept her head down and worked while Shawn flitted all over the place ineffectively.  

I understand a special twins connection and closeness in everyday life, but for goodness sakes, if you can't function at all without another person attached to your side directing your every move, and are devastated to be apart for them, maybe rethink your life!  The way they were wailing and collapsing on the runway you'd think Shawn was talking about laying down her life for Claire, not getting sent home from project runway and being apart for a couple weeks!  Geez!  

Dixie, as in Dixie cups?!  And the segway from coffee cups into friends and family was a real stretch!

Clearly Shawn's ability to sew let alone design was very limited. So it really pissed me off when she tried to turn her ineptitude into an act of nobility - "I concede." Concede, my ass. The judges would have sent her home anyway. And l for one would have liked to see how Claire's blue outfit turned out.

I think Tim Gunn had  some very much needed critiques. 

Loved that the designer (bad with names) re-dyed that fabric. The turquoise color really brought some life into that pattern as well as toned down the fuchsia.

Yeah, I can't figure out what Michael thinks Claire did wrong? From what I understand, they aren't just free to go back to their rooms whenever, are they? If she designed pants similar to ones she had then ... yay for doing something you know you've done before so you can accomplish it in the time frame? It's not like pants are all that innovative. I mean, one leg, two leg, crotch if you're lucky. Not a lot of variation there. If I remember right haven't other designers used pants they're wearing to try and make a pattern for themselves??

I think Michael was just pissed she won. If he had a real problem with it, he should've brought it up to Tim before the runway show and judging.

For all of Margarita's bitching, Claire's top didn't end up looking anything like Margarita's after Tim's consult. So shut up, Margarita.

The grown up thing to do, without putting Claire on the defensive, would be to say "Hey, I think the judges might say it looks too similar to the top of dress I did, and you don't want them knocking you for that."

Margarita really shot herself in the foot by focusing on something that turned out nothing like her dress. And she screwed her client over in the process.

I'm no Claire fan, but I liked her design. And let's be honest. She is not going to win this show. I think everyone in that work room knows it, so to throw a fit over this seems really unnecessary.

Shut up Margarita you didn't invent the wheel. It's a top you didn't invent that type or style so stop crying about it. There is nothing truly new or original in fashion anymore. It's just different variations of the same things. It's not cheating it's not stealing just just freaking fashion. And if Margarita has such issue that she is crying just talk to Claire. The runway was just on and I don't see anything similar in Claire's top and Margarita dress. Maybe I need a side by side but I just don't see. Unless Claire changed it after Tim's comments.

I don't know why Micheal is backing Margarita so hard it's not like they have is life long connection. You just met this girl don't get so worked up over her made up problems. They were designing clothes for real people. Why wouldn't the clothes be ready to wear or sell or whatever. His model would probably only wear the top he made. 

I feel like Kenya would do wonderfully if this was project runway 70/80s. Everything seems to be very dated. 

I hate to say it and paint it all with the same brush my these damn millennials. Everyone gets a damn trophy.

Maybe if Margarita hadn't been so obsessed with Claire and what she was doing and focused on her design she wouldn't have tanked. 

The designers were lucky they had nice clients. Kenya and her lady were so cute together but that top was not flattering. But why did the judges excuse it as 'well, your client likes it so that's all that matters'. Batani's client liked her dress too but the judges blasted Batani ' you can't just brush it off as it's what the client wanted'. Not fair. 

And when are they going to comment about Brandon always sending hanging car wash strips of fabric on all his designs down the runway almost every week?

I liked Claire's design. It's something I would wear. Not sure if she deserved to win though. Kentaro's was pretty cool too. 

and now we have to wait AGAIN to find out what's going to happen with this cheating drama!? Ugh!

I also liked Claire's design.  The best part of the judging was the shock Nina and Zac had when Heidi said she didn't like Kentaro's look.

The bad acting from Heidi at the end was painful. Of course the producers told them ahead of time to expect some drama. That's why she kept poking at Margarita. 

I thought nearly every outfit was dreadful. Claire and Kentaro were the best but even then I still didn't love either. 

Amy actively saying she didn't want to be in on the drama was the only adult thing that happened all episode.

Claire should never have won the round.  Her outfit was so so ordinary.  The judges even said they'd seen it before.  Kentaro produced a masterpiece.  He was the clear winner by a mile, IMO.  

There was something about Claire working when she wasn't supposed to be.  The way it has been presented to us is ridiculous, because we don't have enough information to be as upset as the producers want us to be.  Jerking us along for another week is absurd.

I officially hate Margarita more than Claire.  "Not raised to throw people under the bus?"  Unless "throwing people under the bus" means "confronting people to their faces rather than gossiping behind their backs," I don't understand what she was talking about.  Because minutes 15-60 of the show I watched were largely Margarita saying nasty things, on camera, in multiple languages even, about Claire.  What a nasty piece of work.

The twins also suck, but at least they're just annoying and not actually evil.

To be honest, I'm getting more than a little tired of the show turning into Project Cliffhanger.  Amy''s rise above it attitude and the flow and back of Kentaro''s gown were the only positive things about this episode.

Michael and Margarita just need to shut their pie holes.  Claire designed pants.  There's not a whole lot you can do to pants unless you want to over design them and attach a blanket to a chunky girl's hips.  And as a fellow chunky girl, I don't want extra material on my hips and thighs.   It really annoys me that they got so worked up over her original design which did bear a striking resemblance to Margarita's dress (which I hated, btw), but she didn't end up using it and her top was a lot cuter than the original design. I'm especially annoyed that they made me pick sides and I picked Claire's side.  CLAIRE!  SMH.

Yes, that was definitely not fashion, but when they have these real world challenges, it's harder to go all high fashion when people need to wear their outfit in the real world.

Kenya and Batani need to go. Kenya adds a peplum in all the wrong places at all the wrong times. Her clothes are awful. Unless Batani is designing for the standard model stick thin, she doesn't know what to do and throws something drab on the model to hide them and make them fade into the background. Ugh.

Michael and Margarita were awful with their sniping and Margs walking around telling everyone that Claire was copying her design. I do have an issue if Claire is using a measuring tape at night and using her own, existing garments to figure out proper proportions. That's the same as looking at pattern making books which got someone in trouble before. Now if Claire had worn her pants to the workroom, stripped them off and used them as guidelines, like designers have done for menswear challenges, that would have been fine. But working on the structure of your garment outside the allotted hours is a problem.

That said, Michael, shut your piehole. I could almost see his wheels turning, "It's very possible I will be out this challenge and Tim doesn't like me enough to save me. I'm maybe the fifth best designer here. How do I maximize my attention-seeking?"

Loved Kentaro's. I think I bought Claire's outfit a couple of years ago.

What a joke. This outcome seems designed for drama. Claire recreated something done a million times and gets paid for it. THERE WAS NOTHING UNIQUE ABOUT HER OUTFIT! There is no integrity in the judging. If this is a winning design then all future contestants should simply redo classic versions of whatever is called for in the challenge.

Well, that was dumb. I don't know what Michael thinks is "unfair" about Claire's design. It's nothing spectacular, but there were so many missteps tonight that it was elevated just by a lack of competition. Margarita has always seemed like a "mean girl", and, while I am sometimes amused by her observations, she clearly went after Claire once she was weakened by her sister leaving, as she has disliked the twins for some time. Her anger got the better of her, and she lost the ability to focus on her own project. I think Michael was so invested in her drama that he lost perspective and went off the rails as well.

I think I wouldn't mind...oh, that's NOT what you meant! I agree, though, in seriousness, his design was a mashup of the stuff he's been doing each week, and the lack of an interesting pattern really emphasized that. I liked Kitano's, and would be interested to see it on a model type. (Nothing against the woman he designed for, but not everyone walks clothes well.) Ayana's also looked pretty good, and I think the judges gave it a pass again because of the model's figure.

  Kenya's model looked a bit like an older Maggie Gylenhall (SP?), and I liked their vibe together, but the judges were right about the outfit being wrong for the model.

And I just realized that Shawn's departure with her haircut made it seem as if she were auditioning for the role of Joan of Arc!

There must be something wrong with me because I liked Michael's top, at least the print - I will make an eye appointment in the morning.  Maybe new glasses.  And I loved Kentaro's dress, I imagine the client didn't want to wear a short dress to the wedding.  Shut up Heidi. 

Concede my ass.  Shawnie was confronted by her own lack of talent in assembling an outfit.  Yes I've been that frustrated where I'm doing the crushing cry myself but sheesh, she's been doing that quite a bit.  I'm just glad she is gone.  

The other twin...I can't say I care for her much either, because she's not designed anything spectacular.  Even if she's got a winning look I'm not feeling any particular emotion. 

This season just turned the corner for me into nothingness.  The producers, thinking they can turn the drama up to eleven for viewers, have so missed the mark.  If they'd take the time to seep the show with some more carefully picked challenges, more time in the work room, and perhaps rethinking how they select designers for the show they'd not only have a better show, but there would be a lot less of this filler 'did she/he or didn't she/he?' crap that wouldn't even cut it as the plot of a subpar bad B movie mystery.  I mean, what does that say about your show if you are supposed to be all about finding the best in undiscovered designers but all you can come up with is back of the house nastiness and mediocrity?  

I think I've been watching this show too long.

I don't understand what the controversy was all about. Yes, at first Claire's design looked just like margaritas buy then Tim told her to change it and her new design looked nothing like the other one . And I don't get what the problem was with the pants. 

 

Oh Kenya, what a mess. That empire peplum was so bad. And batanis looked like a cheap maxi dress from Walmart. I liked kentaros but it was basic. Brandon's was terrible and he should have been in the bottom. Michael's model looked like she was wearing a diaper. Ugh.
