I'm really enjoying Svengoolie's presentation of the 1940 comedy scifi movie The Invisible Woman on MeTV.
Too bad their schedule link is down.

That is one dude that I just can't get into.   I do like most of Scifi Saturday, but Svengoolie for me is very hit and miss.   I will watch if I am interested in the movie, but that is about as far as I go with it.

I know what you mean, but this was one of the instances where he actually gave interesting background info —and the movie was worth it

Good grief, Perry Mason xxxx'd out 'turnip' and it took me a minute to figure out why. It was  the 'nip' the censoring filter caught.  'Nip' was on their bad words list. Sigh.

I remember there was a newspaper article years back where the owners/whoever objected to the word 'gay'. They always replaced it with 'homosexual'. Which led to a headline regarding the atom bomb drop anniversary that referred to 'the Enola Homosexual'.

We need human editors. Seriously.

I am right now chatting with a live person regarding picking up a Home Depot order.
I just typed:

Thank you for this.

The Wild Wild West also airs on FETV.  A couple of hours in the afternoon.  I used to have the lunch box back in the day.

The Odd Couple runs for an hour in the afternoon on Decades.

I am looking forward to all of the binges with the exception being The Mod Squad.  I can watch episodes here and there, but not a whole bunch back to back.   The series doesn't hold up very well now, but I still can get some enjoyment out of it.

I do like The Twilight Zone.

So, that is what got censored.  By today's standards, that word is pretty tame.

The last time I watched a movie he was airing was a long time ago.   I think it was The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.  That movie still scares the crap out of me, even though as far as scary movies go, it is on the milder side.  Still, one of my favorite movies.  And yeah, Svengoolie can be very informative, but I really have to be interested in the movie to watch.

I got an email from our cable provider, Verizon, saying they had not reached an agreement with the company that owns, among other channels, the MeTV Baltimore station, which will go away at the end of the year. The last time I got such an email from them they went to great lengths to explain the highway robbery rates The Weather Channel wanted, and dropped them, to be replaced by Accuweather, which is useless. Then 4 years later, with no notice, TWC reappeared. We also get MeTV on a Washington station, so it won't go away. I'm still irritated with Verizon.

How close are you to Baltimore? If it's within 30 miles, you should be able to pick up MeTV over the air for free with an antenna. If you don't want to deal with a spaghetti mess of cords and connectors, you could just hook up a small separate TV to the antenna. Maybe watch MeTV in the kitchen?

I can still watch MeTV on the Washington station, so it's not going away for me completely. When Decades changed to Start TV in my market, I bought an antenna that is supposed to pick up stations within 60 miles. I'm about 30 miles from both Baltimore and DC, and can get exactly 3 stations with the antenna. I think it is because we are in a valley. My alternatives are Xfinity (Comcast) which I've had before, and their customer service sucks. Dish doesn't have the stations I would want. I get annoyed with Verizon when they play the we're too poor card.

I apologize in advance if we've already had this conversation, but on the outside chance that this would be helpful (even if just to someone else happening to read), have you tried putting your antennae in a window facing the source of your signal (Baltimore and/or DC)?

I am moving 700 miles away in a couple of weeks, and this discussion makes me realize I want the TV on the second floor, where I should have unobstructed signal.

I've tried most windows, and can get Maryland Public Television and 1 or 2 major stations. I was hoping to get the on-air station in Baltimore that carries Decades, but no go.

It seemed one of the higher numbered over-the-air shopping stations is now the sci-fi Comet station.

For me it’s 62.8——out of either Chicago or Milwaukee——I’m about halfway between them.

I just watched a Ray Bradbury episode with Jean Stapleton and a very young Lucy Lawless. Beautiful white dog in this episode too. Comet has some great older shows.

I'm quite impressed with the MeTV airings of the classic cartoon shorts so far. Looney Tunes, in particular, has been on auto-pilot on Boomerang for the past several years now. So having them on MeTV now is great.

Their weekday morning cartoon hour with Toony the Tuna is awful.  It is strange, I assume it is geared for young children, but all of the commercials I keep getting during that hour are geared for people who want to reduce the massive bags under their eyes.  In other words, people that are well beyond childbearing age.

I'm not even watching THOSE. I'm watching the Saturday Morning ones, with Popeye, Tom & Jerry, and Bugs. And I love that they don't edit out the violence. Well, if they did, what would be the point of airing them? I'm waiting for that one Bugs Bunny episode, where Elmer quits because he keeps losing and tears up his "contwact" with Warner Brothers and goes fishing. Bugs finds him sleeping and pops some sleeping bills to invade his dream. I know when Loony Tunes were airing on TNT a few years back, they cut out that scene of him taking those pills because DRUGS!!!!

That said, I'm PISSED, PEEVED and ANNOYED that MeTV took I Love Lucy off their schedule. For WHAT? WHY? Only after bringing it back for a year, when they had removed it from its schedule in 2019! Asshats.

I don't think there will be anything shown differently in terms of edited cartoons.  In other words, how they were shown on the other network is how they will air on MeTV.  No one wants to risk offending anyone anymore. it is like walking on egg shells.   I blame anti-bullying campaigns for much of the hyper-sensitive behavior.  I think there are and were better ways to handle bullying situations than the way they have been handled.   I have been on the receiving end of pretty bad bullying back in the day, so it isn't as though I don't sympathize with people who have been treated badly, but I am getting a bit off topic.   I will just leave it at that.

I Love Lucy airs in the early afternoon on Decades for an hour.

There is no question that MeTV could find a way to put it on their schedule.   There is no reason to air so many episodes of that craptacular series Saved by the Bell.  Six episodes of that crap on Sundays?  No thank you.  MeTV could easily wedge in an hour of I love Lucy on Sunday, and still air all of the series that they are currently airing on Sunday.

Well, they're showing Popeye beating the crap out of Bluto; Tom and Jerry being violent with each other--these were shown, I'm assuming unedited, when I was kid, watching when I got home from school. Even that one episode of Bugs Bunny? I remember watching Bugs popping those sleeping pills when I was kid, and then it being edited out on TNT.

Unless you mean, they'll air as they were back in the 70s and 80s?

I, too, was bullied, beat up on constantly as a kid. And I didn't turn into a sociopathic mass murderer.

They couldn't air Popeye or Tom and Jerry without the violence.  If they removed all of the violence there would be nothing left but the opening and closing credits.  Oddly enough, neither of those cartoons interest me anymore.   I do still like Looney Tunes.   I just saw, One Froggy Evening on MeTV this morning.

I was  a cartoon watching kid in the seventies.   I don't know if those cartoons were edited back when they aired then or not.    I don't think there is a chance that, "What's Up Doc?" would air today.  I do remember watching that cartoon in the seventies.

It really is a horrible feeling.  It is something that I have never forgotten.  I still run into former classmates now and then, and instantly get teleported back to that time.  I still keep my distance from them.

“What’s Up, Doc?” Did air on TNT when Loony Tunes aired a few years ago. I don’t see why it wouldn’t air on MeTV

I don’t have Decades so can’t watch. I do have the complete series on dvd though.

MeTV has taken the 3 hours on Sunday afternoon that shows Happy Days and Laverne and Shirley (the only day that show is on) for 4, count 'em 4, weeks of Gilligan's Island in memory of Dawn Wells. Cloris Leachman passes and they announce that they will show a The Love Boat episode today with Cloris. C'mon MeTV. 4 weeks for Mary Ann, and 1 regularly scheduled show to feature Cloris? They should be showing MTM shows with her, plus her spinoff.

Looking at her credits and comparing them to the series that MeTV are currently airing, they could certainly cobble enough episodes to give her at least a couple of afternoons if not longer.  I would cut them some slack if they didn't have access to some of the series that she was on, but it appears that there are quite a few series that MeTV airs where Cloris has appeared in a few episodes.

I believe that the Early Edition episodes that are airing will be from the middle of the series and beyond.   There is one episode towards the end of that series that looks like it was put together in the wrong order.

I am looking forward to Hawaii Five-0

I am not much of Cagney and Lacey fan.  I have nothing against the series, it just isn't my cup of tea.

The Love Boat episode is from season 9.  Surely Cloris must have been in another earlier episode.  Season 9.  Ace.  The Mermaids.  That awful updated theme song.  And the cherry on top is it's the infamous Andy Warhol episode.

MeTV doesn't have the rights to MTM but Cloris was in many of the westerns they currently air and they also show the Facts of Life.

It doesn't? I could have sworn that they did and ran the show for a short run; and now only sporadically air some episodes. But nothing about this channel surprises me. They've removed the Message function on their Facebook page so viewers can't ask questions/complain and actually get answers. Now they just have to accept whatever changes they make and sending an email only gets the auto response it will be sent to the "appropriate" department and they can't answer every single email. Whatever.

I suppose they could have the rights and just aren't airing it but that wouldn't make much financial sense.  It relative terms, I imagine it's one of the more expensive classic shows to license.

On one cable channel that airs a lot of westerns, they seem to have no problem with violence, but censor language.  Words that wouldn't normally be censored on over the air channels.  Don't get me wrong, I think some movies use horrible language to a point where the movie is impossible to watch.  An occasional swear doesn't bother me, but when it become more the rule than the exception, it makes me think the writers know they can't write for shit and they throw in unreasonable amounts of the "f" and "s" words to compensate for a lousy script.

Thank you for posting this.

The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts, IIRC, Decades aired them sometime around Thansgiving, really not that long ago.

That said, Decades I think binges the same series at least twice a year, perhaps more often.

Route 66,  I will probably watch some of that.  First run well before my time, but I have caught a few episodes in syndication a few years ago.

The Saint also airs on FETV.

The White Shadow, I was never a fan of that series.   It first ran during my grade school years in the 70s.  Ken Howard in that series, reminded me of one of my gym teachers.

I am looking forward to The Fall Guy.   Lee Majors, Heather Thomas, Markie Post, etc.   I watched that as a first run program.  I don't recall seeing Heather Thomas in anything after that.

There aren't that many episodes of Gilligan's Island to begin with, I don't know why they need to run it into a ditch like that.   Yeah, I get it three hours as in "three hour tour".  The novelty has worn off.  An hour of episodes is just fine.

I hate Saved By the Bell with a passion.  I would hope they would dump that, but maybe they have to air a certain amount of "children's" programming, no matter how obnoxious it is.

I was young and cranky and now I am old and cranky.

Speaking of Gilligan's Island, here's a 1988 episode of Fox's Late Night show I came across, featuring all 7 original stars of the show, along with creator Sherwood Schwartz. I have to admit I really enjoyed seeing them all together again one more time...

Thank you for the information.

I remember when Police Woman first aired.  I was not much of fan, though would probably watch a few episodes now for nostalgia reasons.

My English teacher back in grade school loved Police Story, and I have watched a few episodes back when it first aired.  I will prbably watch quite a few episodes.

The Beverly Hillbillies airs on other channels.  Even so, I will probably watch some of those episodes as well.

I think Mission Impossible still airs once a week on MeTV.  A very good series.   I do wonder what seasons Decades will binge.  Regardless another good series to watch.

I remember watching The Father Dowling Mysteries when that series first aired.  It is too bad that there weren't more episodes.
