That's kind of funny b/c I can't stand the fountain diet Coke at my area's McDonalds. They used to have low-sugar lemonade that was pretty good, but now I just get Dr. Pepper.

I'm not sure she paid it. That was her fine, and she had to pay it by 12/31/2021. But records indicate that she is listed as delinquent as of today.

For a person who has no criminal record to plead straight up guilty to a misdemeanor ……..I just find it difficult to fathom.  Maybe, it’s some kind of bizarre court system there, but I’ve never heard of a system not having deferral programs available for cases involving those with clean records and where there are special circumstances. It boggles the mind.  I wonder if there is just something else about this case that hasn’t come out yet.  I guess time will tell….maybe.

I won't be at all surprised if there is more to this story.  We really don't know many facts.

My guess is they just want the story to go away and want to keep the details quiet after Jana was roasted over it and the family's collectively inept "Leave Jana alone!" moment did nothing to quiet it. So, if that means she eats a sizeable fine and it goes on her record but doesn't go to court and the details don't become public knowledge, then so be it. They really should have tried applying that not-going-to-court-to-avoid-negative-publicity lesson to Josh's case. . . .

Where I am, even a deferred program, I think you have to plead guilty to DO the program.   Then you it gets changed to wipe it off the record.    So if you don't follow through on the program, you get the original sentence.   Even with a deferred program, you still have to pay the fines and court costs.  Failure to pay the fines on time could be a problem with any deferral program, though.   So this could be interesting if Jana and her Duggar time really do what she is supposed to do when she is supposed to do it.   These folks do not have a concept of deadlines and sustained follow through.

Most people don’t want a criminal record of any kind because of the potential effect on being hired for a job. Jana doesn’t have to worry about that.

Not defending any of them in any way but given the holiday weekend it is possible the fine was paid on time but then office was closed and the system did not process it immediately and automatically listed it as delinquent.

I also think they just want it to go away at this point.

For a deferral program, Jana would have to take a class and read material not approved by Gothard. There might be people in the class who don't believe in the right Jesus. The instructor in the class might not think that the Duggar-method of child care is the absolute best, and most godliest way.

There might be "counseling" involved with actual, certified counselors instead of Jesus-certified counselors. Look what happened to Jill.

I honestly don't think this is over because I don't think JB will ever pay that fine. Hundreds of thousands of Josh's defense? Sure. A couple million for a theater in Branson? Okay. Eight hundred dollars to the government? A hard no.

I think JB will just ignore it, and "forget" to pay it until it blows up at least one more time. I also think that JB is going to be the one who pays the fine; I don't think that there's any way that any of the kidults has that kind of pocket money.

I still believe that one of the M7 escaped the warehouse while Anna was sleeping, or while under the care of an older M. The warehouse is close to the road; the TTH is not.

The police brought the child to the TTH because it didn't occur to them that someone was living in the warehouse, and Jana said that she wasn't watching the child because she wasn't.  She then backtracked because she didn't want to send the police down to the warehouse where 8 people are living without an occupancy permit and a 10 year old child was in charge of a half a dozen siblings.

Because of her contradictory and incoherent statements, the officer asked her to follow him to the station. She agreed and got in the car, but also got on the phone to JB. I think it was JB who told her to go back into the house and called the lawyer.

It's all just so on-brand for JB: throwing Jana under the bus to protect Josh's family; expecting to be the one in control when dealing with the police; and, of course, overt lying. It could be on-brand for Jana, too, for all we know, but I'm still betting on JB pulling the string on another epic fail.

I don't know how these things work, but is it possible the kid had to remain with police or social services until Anna got there? Jana isn't the parent or legal custodian so maybe they couldn't release the kid to her?

The child would be in the care of social services until either put in care or returned to the parents.   The child would NOT be returned to Jana because she was not the child's parent.   You can't send your sister in law to get your kids from CPS like you can send her to get them from a friend's house.   They can ONLY release a minor to a legal guardian (parent).   

As for her deciding not to follow them to the police station, oh HELL YEAH for her.   You never ever ever ever talk to the cops without a lawyer present (is someone downloading child porn?).   I don't care if you are a Duggar, the local drug dealer, or Mother Theresa.   You never ever ever ever talk to the cops without a lawyer present.   It is not a sign of guilt to insist on a lawyer.  It is your constitutional right.

This is what's seemed likely to me, too.

According to most accounts, though, the kid went to a different road. The road that's not in front of the Duggars' property but the crossing road that's about 1000-ft away or so across their property and across somebody else's property.....

If that's true, then I think it's likely that it was a slightly older kid. ....

But if it's true, no matter what the age of the kid, they were out of the house for longer than just a couple minutes because while 1000 ft isn't that far, you wouldn't be traveling it on a path or street or sidewalk but across lawns and through somebody's wooded backyard and so on.... Even as an adult, you'd probably wander a bit rather than just make a beeline as you would from the warehouse to the road they front on. 

You could get to the crossing road by walking about the same distance from either the TTH or the warehouse, though, of course. So the scenario of a kid escaping the warehouse and Anna and then the police surprising Jana instead could still be true. After all, as you say, it's unlikely anybody passing through would think that a bunch of kids and their mother live in that warehouse.

Wasn't the warehouse listed as the Family Felon's primary resident when he was arrested? I would think the neighbors and the police would be aware of the fact that Anna and her children are living there.

In this case, it seems that Jana getting a lawyer ended up causing more problems than it solved.  Of course, that lawyer was probably Travis Story who is not known for his legal smarts.  Otherwise, he or someone in his office might've contacted the police and let them know that he had advised Jana not to talk to them without his presence and that he was calling to arrange such a meeting.

I doubt this is the first time the cops had someone refuse to talk to them without legal counsel, I presume that Story mishandled letting them know what was happening.  And, of course, Jana lying to the police either initially or later.  They aren't too fond of that, either.

the address I saw listed for the felon was not the TTH or the warehouse. It was another little building next to the warehouse along the road. It is the address listed for JB, Joe, Jed, Jere's Good Neighbor Realty office. It is also the address Matthew Waller used when he registered to vote in 2019.

I did see the warehouse address once on an official thing. Late taxes or something. It was the warehouse address Suite D

I am beginning to like Jason more.  They also seem to be towing a motorcycle. I know the Spiveys are not much of an improvement over the Duggars but still an improvement.
