Teen Mom superfan marries man child -- was she really clueless that he was addicted to opioids?

No, of course not.  It was a cover story.  She's part of the Edwards' family now.  Since she was the only one appearing at the reunion, her open letter accusations were written on behalf of his family to deflect attention away from their knowledge or culpability.  That's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

Oh, I'm sure that letter had Jen's blessing all over it. I also don't think Mack is smart enough to calculate all those numbers...

Mac should have at least known his behavior wasn't a case of Xanax gone wrong when he was singing "we going to get marrrrried, we going to get marrrIIIEEED," like Adam Sandler in bullet proof talking about "we going to Diiiiiney land." Xanax doesn't make a once manly type of dude act like that.

And when I say manly type of dude I'm talking about the old Ryan that would work on his truck or motorcross bike while whistling at girls from afar.

And I just got the correlation to Adam Sandler movie title and Maci's book title - you see? Maci is the all knowing. ?

That "can I speak to your manager" hair cut she was sporting at the reunion didn't do her any favors.

Dang! I use to have that haircut (after my third pregnancy my hair grew so long and thick and I wanted the "mom bob") and I didn't know it was associated with the annoying customers that feel super entitled when at retail stores or restaurants. ?

When I worked retail in my early twenties I use to hate the certain type of female customer that would act like the whole store had to cater to her otherwise "I want to speak to your manager" would slip from the lips.

I actually had one report me to the manager because I didn't make eye contact when I said "welcome to (store name)" as customers walked through the automatic door. Lol. I was ringing another customer up at the same time I welcomed her to the store.

Wow! I went on an off topic ramble. Sorry. Thank goodness I don't work retail anymore. Those jobs made me work EXTRA hard in College.

All this from a haircut? ?

How did his girlfriend not know that he was on drugs and his parents? Maci knows but the people around him couldn't pick up on it?

They all knew. The family and Maci covered it up for 5 years. Mac just pretended to not know.

Pretty sad because they all could have come together as one to show that there should not be any stigmas attached to a loved one with a drug issue. But when you deal with someone like Maci who clearly has issues with adult entertainment careers, she'd rather go along with the cover-up to get that paycheck. Mac is doing the same. Rather than stand up and admit she knew Ryan had a problem, she is pointing fingers (just like Maci does) and pretending she had no clue. Why she thinks that will save her from being bashed about that car driving scene, I have no clue. She is dumb. Perhaps her mother drank Bud Lites while Mac was in utero.

Everyone could have come together and issued an ultimatum.

Parents: You can't live with us anymore, including any of our rental houses.

Mack: I won't marry you.

Maci: You don't get any alone time with your son.

MTV: We will no longer film or pay you.

Everyone knew, lots of people at fault.

Ryan in response:

Parents: Oh shit, mommy please don't kick me out it's scary out there, I'll be a good boy I promise

Mack: who are you again?

Maci: Like I give a shit

MTV: Fine. Where is that Malibu place you sent Amber?

I agree. I didn't say they WOULD. Or that any of those people in my post would do what I wrote. I just said that's what they SHOULD have done.

MTV would offer him a rehab stint as long as they could follow his story by filming him the way they did with Amber, Leah, and Jenelle. They also paid for Cate's rehab stint. The cameras filmed all of that and followed her to the Arizona rehab place while filming her upon her release.

I'm confused about this chick's timeline. She was, apparently, born in December of 1996 based on this (https://www.famousbirthdays.com/people/mackenzie-standifer.html) even though she looks eleventy hundred years old.

According to this article, (https://www.google.com/amp/www.intouchweekly.com/posts/mackenzie-teen-mom-og-130894.amp) she filed for divorce of her first husband in July 2016 after 3 years of marriage...so she got married around July 2013....at 16 years old?!

She also claims to regret being on Teen Mom every day...sure, Jan!

I saw in another thread that she registered for expensive gifts and then returned them for $ as well? Please, someone tell me more.

At first she seemed kinda ok in spite of all the wtfness of her relationship with Ryan and why she would want one...now I think she's shady AF!

Edit: Maybe this has been mentioned in Ryan's thread (I'm not caught up there yet) but apparently Mackenzie used to get $503 in child support a month from her first husband but now according to Radar after their last custody hearing she now pays the ex $245 a month...did she lose custody? http://radaronline.com/celebrity-news/maci-bookout-baby-daddy-ryan-edwards-fiancee-custody-case-loss-drug-scandal-teen-mom/  Radar says Mackenzie is 21 here so they kind of suck at fact checking.

She didn't even FILE for divorce from the first husband until July 2016? Age be damned, this chick has issues!

All of this is in the Ryan thread.

We suspect her husband might have taken the initiative to take her to court when she moved in with Ryan due to his child now living with a drug addict. Another theory is, they still share custody, but he probably has the child a lot more throughout the school year. Perhaps it is due to putting their child in a certain school and the husband may live closer to the school.

Generally, when one has their child support reduced, it is due to a change in visitation, a change in income, or both. It could be a change of having the kid two extra days a week and depending on income, that would make the other parent have to pay.

We speculated Mac returned her wedding gifts for cash.

I'm still stuck on why the fuck she let him to continue to drive while he was clearly nodding out. That was a horrific scene that could have ended with fill in the blank. She wanted to get married no matter how fucked up  he was. Yet she couldn't be bothered to drive.

Once again, I find myself about a week behind in reading in the forum, so this may have been mentioned in one of the other threads.

After the scene of Ryan nodding out while driving, Mack was getting trashed on Twitter for allowing him to drive. She went on a blocking spree, asked everyone to pray for them, again, then stopped responding. After the Reunion, she was again getting trashed badly, with people calling her and her parents stupid for not recognizing he was using, calling bullshit on her blaming his actions on Maci, and saying how they hope she is happy that she got what she wanted, to be a part of a reality show, and did it by marrying a man so wasted he probably didn't know where he was or what he was saying. The next day, it must have become overwhelming, because she deleted her account. Supposedly, her Instagram is set to private now, but I have no idea what her account name was so I can't look.

It really makes me wonder why she thought that letter was a good idea. We've talked about how Maci was using him as her story, just like she has from day one, but no one other than Mackenzie has accused Maci of being at fault for his embarrassment. Mack was expecting support for her assertion that Maci should have told her, since she knew and no one else did, but instead, the audience cheered Maci for saying, "Oh, Hell no! You point that finger right back at Ryan," and she stormed off stage, just like every other reality "star." For being such a huge Teen Mom fan, I would have expected her to know that she has to blame her failures on Jeff, and everything else on Miranda.

The producers may have pushed her to write the letter.

Wow, quite the backlash. Thanks for summarizing. I don't understand Twitter.

Mack could not have miscalculated the reaction worse, could she? On the one, I understand her thinking. Everyone else blames everything but themselves, makes ridiculous accusations, bitches people out for doing the exact same thing he or she is currently doing, and when in Rome, right? However, there's a certain social hierarchy in play here, and one just does not come charging in, picking fights with well established players as a way to fit in. It rubs people the wrong way.

Once Mac decided she was marrying this guy, stoned out of his mind, she already had an uphill climb in endearing herself to fans. This is someone who started dating him when he was already close to rock bottom (well, as close to rock bottom as he's gone yet, I suspect the real rock bottom is still coming)- other than wanting to lock down her meal ticket, this chick has no  logical reason for marrying him at this point. She can be supportive as a girlfriend- she doesn't have to be his wife to go to therapy with him and encourage him. She's outing herself as an opportunist by going through with the wedding, so she needs to really play it smart going forward. I'd recommend a full concession of denial and speaking out about the difficulty of recognizing the signs in loved ones and use that platform. It involves admitting some wrong doing, which we know these kids hate, but also could make her more sympathetic. Eat a little crow now, reap the benefits later. Instead Mack torched the whole bridge. She's probably more hated now than Brandon, Teresa, and Miranda combined.

There is something about Ryan having cheated on Mackenzie since the beginning of their relationship according to this Twitter page. Not surprised if he did. He is a drug addict after all. The site posted a video which is now set to private. The Grace Report mentions Ryan threatened the girl. The Grace Report jokingly points out Ryan should have done what Matt did, deny!

I'll never understand how that became a thing. I'm no prude (I mean, I'm really, really not)- but the pictures my unmarried girlfriends have gotten from men they are dating are...strange to me, to say the least. I am glad I started dating my husband before online dating and smart phones were the norm. Back in my day (which was like 2006, so sad how much has changed even in a short time), if you wanted to get laid, you had to move your ass to the bar and go work for it. There was none of this flirting via snapchat or what have you.

Send me an unsolicited dick pic and I'm going to send back a pic of a longer, stronger prettier dick.   Men are so stupid.

True story. Long, long, long ago when I was a young thing, I worked at a fast food place. I was the night manager. One employee was working the drive-thru. She came to me and had a look of shock on her face and told me she wasn't sure, but she thought the guy in the car was exposing himself to her. I was pissed. I walked over to the window, saw the dude's little pecker, and I told him, "Hey, if you are going to expose yourself, at least have something to expose." I laughed and slammed the window on him as he drove off. I had the giggles when talking to the police and having to describe things in detail.

It is a serious matter when unsolicited dick is in your face. It just goes to show how females are subjected to pricks (literally and figuratively) all of our lives. Reminds me of the Chris Rock joke about women having dick thrown at them every day..."Can I help you with your groceries? You want some dick?" lol

Perhaps it is just the ease in which they are transported, thanks to improved quality cameras in phones. I mean, digital pictures have only really been around less than 20 years. I suppose people could get pretty creative with a Polaroid, but I bet most people didn't drop off dick pic film at Walgreens. But I seriously didn't know it was a thing (I mean, sure, it wasn't shocking that people did it, but it wasn't like, a thing to do) until Brett Favre's surprisingly small pecker made the news in 2009.

As far as AOL, that became a pretty popular thing when I was about 12-15. Right around that time there were ALL these stories about young girls being lured out to meet what they thought were unusually sensitive and mature teenage boys only to receive a pretty nasty shock. Believe you me, my mom ruled my online activity with an iron fist.  There were no dick pics to shock this sheltered suburban preteen :).

I agree. MTV will stop at nothing to get a "dramatic TV moment". THIS is what makes me the most angry about the whole thing; their denial of involvement coupled with the fact that you know they relish re-airing it and shocking people.

I know! I feel like I can't call Farrah an asshole anymore or people will think I am making a joke about her porn movie. And asshole was my most common description for her.

Maybe Mackenzie and Farrah will become besties now that everyone hates Mackenzie too.

I don't know if Farrah is as comfortable playing the villain role and being hated as she makes out to be, but I definitely think Mack is too thin skinned to ever embrace the role and will likely run back to obscurity with her tail between her legs after this latest fiasco.

She did go after Chad's mother with ease. I can't imagine going after someone that cray-cray.

She may not be the best at it, but she can hold her own. We know the likes of Maci, Amber, and Cate act like their badass, but they can't hold their own as they are only limited to going after people they feel superior to.
