The yacht was up for sale a few years ago for 17 million euros ! It sold to a company based in London but is berthed in Douglas on the Isle of Mann. The company that own it is a charter company - they probably rent it to the show or have a deal with them.

I actually think it is one of the nicer yachts they have used - at least in terms of decor !

The shittiest was last year's Med boat.  It looked like either Bob Guccione's love tug or a televangelist's gaudy wet dream. One wouldn't want to shine a UV light anywhere near it. Shudder!

So Sandy is a competent Captain, imagine that.  I think it's awful that she's been criticized for basically being a woman.  She seems to have a real handle on everything going on on the boat.  And yes, being Captain is more than just steering the boat around.  She realizes how little experience everyone has and is on top of it.  I'm sure she has had to do the job twice as hard as any male equivalent.

It's pissing me off that suddenly we are seeing a lot of technical stuff that we never saw under Cpts Lee of Mark, like tonight's stuff with attaching the boat to a nearby rock (who knew? but I'm sure Lee and Mark did similar manoevres) and the 'shackle' issue (again, who knew? first time we've seen this) and yeah, I think it's because we have a female captain and now every normal thing a captain does is suddenly a novelty. Yes, they caught some issues with both the examples I mentioned, but how much filming of Captain Sandy doing her job did they have to do before this happened? She's docked the boat (with a tense edit) with no issues at least twice so far and we've certainly run into problems with that before. She's a bit of a micromanager, but this crew is green and inexperienced, both in reality and to reality tv. Only Bobby and Hannah (gulp, double gulp) are in their 2nd season. No Kate, no Ben etc.

I'll tell you who Bobby reminds me of: Hugh fckn Laurie. And a young Hugh Laurie at that. So, pre Dr House. A brilliant comic, but Hugh only got remotely a bit sexy after he became Dr House. Bobby is far from developing a sense of humor, so he's even further from becomng any kind of catch to anyone female.

I'm annoyed that Hannah is suddenly for the first time showing her bicurious nature so conveniently after a. Kate and Ro (look how that ended up) and b. right after Cpt Sandie talked about her last relationship with a woman and c. that it was with a drunk underling and she kept mixing her job and how it was all about 'being protective' with Malia and making Malia 'feel safe': mixing these 2 as a supervisor is not cool and difficult to navigate outside of mixing huge amount of alcohol up with it and d. right after Bobby 'showed interest' and Hannah just happens to have been knocked back by Bobby and feuding with Bobby anyway.

Hannah is a nasty sloppy drunk and she needs to watch herself.

Why exactly is the entire boat falling all over themselves over Malia?  I don't get it.  She's a cute girl but everyone is acting like they've been on a desert island with a volleyball named Wilson for years. What gives?

FFS at LEAST it'st not everyone with a hard on for rabbity Emily, now of 'Bemily' fame. That was even more bizarre. and poor Hannah. Everytime they do the seasonal sum up of onboard talent (gross), she never rates a mention. This is not going unnoticed by Hannah, believe me.

Here's an unpopular view. It looks like the girl deckhand likes to be the center of attention and is a mad flirt. Which doesn't make her a bad person and she has every right to do that. On dry land. But in close quarters on a boat she might do well to restrain that a little. Or else you fire her.

I mean she was all over Hannah and is sparking the Chef and has Bobby following her spoor like a bloodhound with hard on. Plus it seemed like she hooked up with the bosun from the previews. That is just not acceptable behavior for anyone on a boat man or woman. When you are living and working with a group 24/7 you have to have a modicum of self control and discipline. If  Captain Momanger (great name by the way) wants to manage something......manage to tell them to keep it in their pants or they get fired.

Meet Rocky....been there, done alla that with alla the boys...well before Malia and look how that ended up..

I realize that being on a ship, working hard, having to please others for a week at a time, might be a little stressful, but, still, I just don't get all the desperate guzzling of alcohol when they go out.  It's like they cannot get a shot into their system fast enough. Then they just guzzle.   It's such a college thing to do. How old are these people?  I thought they all were at least in their mid to late twenties.  Maybe, their maturity is stunted.  I suppose moderate cocktails are not sufficient OR they have to look like they are tearing it up for the cameras.  Whatever.....Reminds me of how the show The Real World would coup young people in tight quarters, ply them with alcohol and then watch the fireworks as entertainment......only now, it's on a boat and they actually have a job. lol

Thank you for clarifying that.  I know it flew a U.K. Flag but I have never even heard of the Isle of Mann.  I'll look that up.

It's where Manx cats came from!  I have a friend who is Manx and she is one of the few who speaks Manx.

I think this could fairly be said about nearly every cast member on every season on Below Deck and Below Deck Med.

Nah, Connie wasn't like that she liked to have fun but she wasn't looking to score as some other female dechands were.

LOL! I'm lucky my wife has a good sense of humour because I've said that Hannah's the only one I would be trying to get with if it were me on the boat, and that's true both of last season and this season. (Though, I also liked Rocky, but I still would have chased Hannah over her.)

I will pause the TV to make sure Mr. G gets a gander at a nice round behind. He hasn't seen any crew member he would want go after but there have been one maybe two guests that fit his aesthetic.

Whatcha gonna do men are gonna look!

There may be a lot of pausing this next episode with all the naked women running around. I'll never understand how guys who run/own porn sites manage to get married. ("Mr. Skin" and his wife are the next guests.) I would expect women would universally view someone like that as a creep.

As for men looking, I've actually gotten more into looking at the ladies' wardrobes. Sometimes they're wearing some really nice stuff that I would love to see my wife wear. (Dresses and such; stuff she can wear in public.)

Been in Guccione's upstate house many years ago. It was by no means tacky or gaudy. The things I found amusing there was his collection of turtle statuary (get it...Hefner collects bunnies) and his Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs (that had their own room and were very destructive...ate a fax once). I do love the other statement about the televangelist..gave me a chuckle.

Thinking of past boats (and Kate) anyone else miss her towel art?

I think everyone is forgetting how Captain Lee was in season 1. He micromanaged too even though he had a decently experienced crew. Alecks was a captain. Lee had the crew running multiple fire drills. He was constantly checking their work, which annoyed Alecks. Sandy has Hannah, Bobby, Wes, and Bugsy with prior experience on a yacht and only Hannah and Bobby have experience filming. If Sandy doesn't relax a little by the end of the season, then I'll call her a micromanager.

Not at all, tbh.

Perhaps I should have qualified it better. I saw another show featuring kissing swans and other towel art that far surpassed Kate's phallic happier for Dean. I don't recall anyone doing a lagniappe for this seasons guests.

OK.  The anchors.  Capt. Sandy wanted to anchor the yacht so the back of it would face a view of the cliffs.  This can be done if the wind is coming directly toward the cliffs.

Rule one of anchoring.  You set the anchor into the wind.  However, if the wind is a bit shifty and not too strong, and if you want to keep the yacht (or boat) in a certain spot, you set a stern anchor.  Thus, the two lines attached to the rocks.  However, if the wind, and/or the current if there is one, shifts...there can be a problem.

You always allow slack when anchoring a boat.  With a bow and stern anchor, if the wind/current changes, it places more pressure on the anchor lines.  In other words, if a boat is getting pressure from the side,  that pressure is higher than if the boat is getting pressure from the bow with one anchor line because the boat can spin with the direction of the wind.  It can't do that with a bow and stern anchor.  That seems to be what was happening.  So, what do you do.  You have to release the stern anchors.  Simple?  Yes.  Unless...if releasing those stern lines may cause the boat to swing into rocks, shallow water, etc.

I totally get Capt.  Sandy micro managing the deck crew.  Overall, they just don't have enough experience.  I forget who it was but really....leaving the dock and uncleating the dock line on the boat 'before' you pull that dock line into the boat?
