Athena April 21, 2017 Share April 21, 2017 Quote Together on Graham's sofa are One Direction star Harry Styles, chatting and giving an exclusive UK television performance of his debut solo single Sign of the Times; Mrs Brown's alter-ego, Irish funnyman Brendan O'Carroll; Vicky McClure, star of police drama Line of Duty; and comedian Rob Brydon, talking about his new series with Steve Coogan, The Trip to Spain. dubbel zout April 30, 2017 Share April 30, 2017 That was an extremely British couch. I enjoyed it, even if I couldn't quite understand all of what Brendan O'Carroll was saying. Vicky McClure getting thrown off her eponymous tram was very funny. Rob McClure's stories about Mick Jagger and David Bowie were good, too. It always cracks me up a bit when there's a very young singer on the show and the audience screams, because according to the website, you have to be at least 18 to get tickets. No red chair, though. Boo! 2 Link to comment
attica April 30, 2017 Share April 30, 2017 I continue to be mystified about why "putting a dude in a dress" is considered reliable laff riot. The implied transgressiveness seems way out of date. I liked Harry's song. 3 Link to comment
peeayebee May 2, 2017 Share May 2, 2017 That's a very British thing, isn't it? (using men in dresses for humor) Certainly American comedy has made use of this, but it seems like it happens more in England. A couple of years ago someone forwarded me a clip from Mrs Brown, something with someone sitting on a phone while another person tries to answer it. I can't remember all the details, but I got the gist of the type of comedy on Mrs Brown. I enjoyed all of Rob Brydon's stories. He's a lot of fun. Link to comment
Mumbles May 2, 2017 Share May 2, 2017 Quote Rob McClure's stories about Mick Jagger and David Bowie were good, too. Especially Steve Coogan's reaction to the Bowie one! Lol. I agree, a veddy British couch but I enjoy them because in general I find the British guests less full of themselves than American guests. Link to comment
