thewhiteowl April 16, 2017 Share April 16, 2017 Quote The fall season begins with some uncertainty. A seismic shift in sea temperature sends the fleet searching for the displaced crab and then they must contend with an unseasonably large first storm. Link to comment
SweePea59 April 18, 2017 Share April 18, 2017 That's one of the two episodes tonight. Along with a two hour On Deck. That's four hours. Again. It's too much time for me to devote to one show all at once. Phooey. Link to comment
HoodlumSheep April 19, 2017 Share April 19, 2017 Sig, Sig, Sig. You should know better. Edgar shouldn't have to call your wife behind your back to have her knock some common sense into ya. Listen to edgar, listen to the producer guy, listen to your wife! At this point I'm like 99% sure sig plans to die at the wheel and edgar will literally have to pry the wheel out of his cold dead hands. Stubborn old man. :/ Wild Bill is still remaining calm. Playing it safe. The 'old' wild bill would have kept plowing through that storm. Did anyone else notice the consecutive cuts that went from his majestic hair down to in a ponytail to in a bun? All within a span of about 5 minutes. Lol. Kinda happy Andy is joining Johnathan on his final trip. I hope his season picks up for him! And keith has nice pink coiler now. Lol! 6 Link to comment
GreyBunny April 19, 2017 Share April 19, 2017 (edited) Jonathan is 100% done. He's wishing he was already home. Btw, dude, climate change is real, empty pots is what you get for poo-pooing it. Sig is going to drive himself right into another heart attack. He should have given Edgar the wheel hours before he started going loopy. Way to go driving over the crab pot line, that's a quick way to eat into profits. Dance for your new pink coiler, Keith! Edited April 19, 2017 by GreyBunny 2 Link to comment
terrymct April 19, 2017 Share April 19, 2017 Sig scared me last night when he started babbling. I was worried that he was having some sort of neurological crisis, more than just exhaustion. He and Edgar need to have a serious talk about splitting time on the bridge. It's good that Edgar was on board though, and knew to play his trump card (calling Sig's wife). Imagine if a deckhand was trying to deal with Sig in that condition. 5 Link to comment
walnutqueen April 19, 2017 Share April 19, 2017 At first I was really scared for Sig, but then I realized he was actually asleep. My Mum used to do the same thing when she was exhausted and I was trying to get her to go to bed. She'd insist she was awake, argue with me, and babble total nonsense - she had absolutely no recollection of it when she was finally awake & lucid. Funny how Sig's wife knows exactly how to talk him down, and Edgar knows she's the only one Sig might listen to. 4 Link to comment
AZChristian April 19, 2017 Share April 19, 2017 There was an earlier episode where Nick called Sig because he didn't like the way Edgar was running the boat. I thought that was a low blow - and I still do. But Edgar was absolutely right to call June. (Did you notice that Sig referred to her in the Norwegian pronunciation - "Hoo-na"?) It's only been 8 months since he almost died . . . and if he keeps doing 40-hour shifts, he'll finish the job right in that chair . . . and a lot sooner than he realizes. We were wondering whether the producer in the wheelhouse put a bug in Edgar's ear to let him know that Sig needed help. We've gone through the heart attack thing at our house. When hubby went back to work, I was with the same company and sat about 12 feet away from him. One day, I was talking to him and he looked really tired - just sitting at a desk in an office. I immediately said, "Log off. We're going home. NOW." It was with that tone of voice where he knew not to disagree. It was nothing serious - just the normal ups and downs of recovery - but he wasn't awake for 40 hours running a crab-fishing boat. Come on Sig . . . get smart. 3 Link to comment
NEGirl April 19, 2017 Share April 19, 2017 Can not believe Sig is still smoking ! I was also glad Edgar called Sig's wife. It sure seems he did not learn anything from Phil's death or his heart attack last year. If he keeps this up, he will be like Phil and die while on the boat. My BIL had a widow maker heart attack last year and he was only 52. Thankfully he is doing better and has quit smoking. Poor Johnathan, he looks so tired. I am glad he is by now retired and hopefully able to enjoy his time with his family. I was happy to see Andy with him too - just like the old days. Watching that special before the new episode, it was shocking to see how much all the captains have aged. They all look older than their years. Look how much Jake A. has aged, he sure looks older than 36. I remember that episode when Nick called Sig at home when Edgar was running the boat. I also thought it was kind of low thing to do. I was so happy to not have Jake A. on the show last night. I am more than tired of his temper tantrums and screaming fits. He will be the next in line for a heart attack with his smoking and inability to handle any kind of stress. Yeah, so much for all of those people who do not believe in climate change. 3 Link to comment

FishyJoe April 20, 2017 Share April 20, 2017 When somebody with CPD becomes incoherent, stroke is a real possibility. I know the camera crew isn't supposed to interfere, but I don't think I could live with myself if I filmed someone die and I didn't do anything. 4 Link to comment
Lonesome Rhodes April 21, 2017 Share April 21, 2017 It was nice of Disco to set up the dance before the season started. No way would that dude have the tie-dye shirt and afro wig and bell bottoms without it being provided before casting off. One thing which was shockingly kept on the down low: Freddie returned to the Wizard. Where was the typical Disco build-up? I'd have thought will he/won't he return would have been a major plot point in the story of 2016. Heck, he wasn't even the first crewman to dance! I thought the moment when the producer pointed out that Jonathan had pink paint on his hand was among the truly funny things I've ever seen on the show. It was a great TB moment. 5 Link to comment
Fostersmom April 21, 2017 Share April 21, 2017 And the guys watching the dance had score cards. I guess we know why Jonathan had to transport Keith's shit. 1 Link to comment
kassa April 21, 2017 Share April 21, 2017 Not sure when the season started, but in previous seasons they've been in Dutch Harbor for Halloween and had Halloween costumes (remember Spiderman?) So having a costume on board didn't signify much to me. I definitely assume the camera guy called his counterpart on deck and requested an immediate intervention. When the person at the wheel is asleep/completely disoriented, everybody's life is in danger, especially the people working on deck. Keeping that information from them would be wrong. I was in a motorhome once with a driver who fell asleep right before my eyes - I spoke to her firmly to wake her without scaring her and asked her to pull over. She refused, said she was fine, and I picked up the walkie talkie and called the motorhome ahead of us (a group of friends were traveling together) and asked one of them to pull over and have one of their passengers take over for us. (I've never driven one so would only have been marginally better than the sleeping driver.) My friend who was falling asleep was not pleased but I told her flat out that I had no intentions of dying or watching her kill anybody else. Similar to the Elliott drug thing, there's a point where even a documentary crew needs to say "Hell no!" 6 Link to comment

I have been in the company of someone having a stroke and that's just how Sig sounded. In the end, I guess he was dreaming as walnutqueen suggested. It's the only explanation that seems to reconcile hallucinations and aphasia one moment and coherent thought the next (where's House when you need him?). It was scary. When Sig started talking about hedges and the weather man and the power man and then lapsed into baby talk, my alarm bells went off. 5 Link to comment
