It is never flattering or okay to say a women will be blowing the guy.  Especially when the woman is engaged and you despise her.  It doesn't make it okay or any funnier because one says it about themselves.  It only means the "joke" wasn't funny the first time.   It would not be any funnier if Bethenny said it about Sonja or Ramona or Carole.  No one wants that said about them.

Carole and Bethenny for all their combined sophistication take cheap shots at people's physical charactericts looks and sex lives.  I have a hard time when either of them play victim about something said about them.

Dorinda said in the off season she wanted limited John this season.  It detracts from her air time.  Essentially her gig and she wants to be front and center.

This is what's so irksome. The random cheap shots just  because.

I mean I understand that Lu isn't their favorite person but the exaggerated torture that seems to warrant all these unprovoked cheap shots is just so overdone and tired already. We all get it already. Lu gets on your nerves. Ugggghhhh.

This is one of the biggest reasons I don't like Beth. Simple fact that all she does is pepper her dialogue with cheap shots and disparaging comments about someone else ALL. THE. TIME.

Jokes are never funny when delivered by someone you don't like.  I heard the comment, and its intent, differently.  I don't think it was a big deal.

So you thought it was funny/cool when Luann referred to Bethenny's "ex porn career"?  That seemed like the definition of cheap shot to me.

I haven't re-watched the episode so I can't remember, but did Bethenny suggest working for the Clinton campaign or working for Clinton? I ask because if Bethenny only said Clinton (without specifying campaign), my guess is that Carole was thinking that Hillary Clinton would be the next president and was wondering if Bethenny was suggesting a move to DC to work for a President Hillary Clinton.

If Bethenny said "Clinton campaign" then I can't hazard a guess as to what Carole would have been thinking lol.

It was just a couple of days before the election. Bethenny said work for Clinton, and Carole assumed she meant after Clinton was elected. Carole had actually been working on the "get out the vote" campaign.

I took them both as cheap shots, and didn't find either to be funny, just kind of desperate.  ymmv.

At least Beth was right there to hear it.

Beth bath mouths and continues to have some corny thing to say for no other reason than her wanting to say something not nice about someone Like. All. The. Time.

Whether she's interacting with them or not there she is randomly blurting out cheap shots just because.. well because she's raised by wolves Beth.

I don't think it's nicer to say something nasty about a person not to them, but to someone else, knowing that the object of your nasty comment will hear you.  I'd prefer Bethenny's aggression to anyone's passive aggressiveness any day of the week.  And I have a feeling there was something we didn't see/hear just prior to Bethenny's little quip, which would put it in a different context.  It was said as Bethenny and Carole were opening the door, Bethenny looking over her shoulder at something. I think we all too often forget that what we see/hear on the show isn't all there was, it's just all we're shown.

She didn't specific the "campaign" but to me, it seemed obvious she wasn't saying "go work for Hillary if she becomes president" and instead was talking about the campaign!  When Beth followed it up with she could do that in NYC, Carole didn't say anything.  I almost got the impression it was like, yeah, I support her and everything but I don't want to actually have to work at a campaign office!

Again, that might be me reading a little too much into it...

Well Beth's mean in general and on the regular so it isn't hard for me to believe that she was being nasty just for the sake of being nasty.

It's not like we don't have plenty of examples of when Beth just decides to be mean for no other reason than to be mean.

These shows are just a circle of the women saying mean shit just for the sake of saying mean shit. Some are bigger culprits than others but one's that stand out to me are Beth, Ramona and Carole.

Just spewing nonesense and negativity, no rhyme or reason and in no real context of anything.

Yuck! and Yawn!

But that's also what BRAVO has hired her to do.  They know it's the "villains" with these types of shows that generates the most talk.   And when you get down to it, her barbs and snarks aren't really that bad - when compared to what other HW's have pulled.

And BF usually has no problem taking jabs at herself.  Can't say the same of other HW's who insists on playing the innocent victims who never do anything wrong.

Actually I think Bethenny must have liked the porn credit as she is claiming, "I am elated my crappy acting career has been upgraded to me being a porn star. If anyone can monetize that now, its me."  The impression I got was originally as presented by Ramona Luann thought it was a more recent event.  http://www.bravotv.com/the-real-housewives-of-new-york-city/season-9/blogs/bethenny-frankel/bethenny-frankel-you-decide-for  I guess if one runs around making derogatory remarks about people and claims that is who they are and the others need to suck it up and their opinion of them is meaningless, it should not matter what the person says.  Contrast that with people saying they are offended by the comments.

I hope to see the part where Carole was part of the Get Out to Vote in PA.  Maybe it was the day before the election and she attended the great concert in Philadelphia. http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/real-time/Hillary-Clinton-to-hold-Nov-7-2016-rally-in-Philadelphia.html  I am not certain when she did her get out the vote as Pennsylvania does not allow for early voting.  I am just assuming it was the day of and day before the election.  https://ballotpedia.org/Voting_in_Pennsylvania

Is it me or does Beth seem to not respect Carole anymore?

In the first couple of seasons together, I think Beth dug Carole.  She seemed to be her partner in crime and she seemed to treat her with more reverence.  I get the feeling that Beth initially thought Carole was Ms. Serious Journalist who is brilliant and cavorted with the Kennedys to now seeing her as a bit of a fun sucker at times, who doesn't know as much as she thinks she does, and who has a May/December romance that Carole seems to think is more May/May romance cause you know, she's so hip and cool.  It just seems like Beth is treating Carole like she does most of the RHONY cast now.

I work in a crappy retail job and put skinny girl products on the shelf many days.  Mostly the drink mixes.  Popcorn didn't last long.  There is also drink mixes with a similar name. We are told to put them next to each other.

Never been a fan of Bethany and don't care how much money she makes just find her a mean spirited person.  Isn't she Carole's friend?  Why would she embarrass her about the toe fungus?   Or talk down to her about her fears and concerns ?

It was an ongoing legal action. It wasn't that Bethenny was too precious to have her private life discussed; she was prohibited from talking about any of it while it was going on.  If any of the other women were going through any time of litigation, they'd be saying the same thing.

Except for Carole, Bethenny has no problem with Carole talking about it! LOL

It's not nice, no question about it, but she isn't pretending anything. I mean, Lu would hardly be shocked to hear those words, after being called a whore and a fuck doll. And Lu was right there to hear it, which I am not sure made most folks think the words any better. Beth is just keeping it real. She didn't get amnesia over the hiatus like maybe Ramona did. Beth has always thrown out those types of shots. From the very beginning of the show. She doesn't change because it makes her unpopular or makes a certain segment of the viewing audience detest her. I prefer the open honesty any day.

As a former fan of Bethenny, I can say that she's earned her reputation, based on what I have seen since she left Housewives the first time.  I suppose that I was blind at first, but, by the time her own show went off, the cat was out of the bag about her.  So, I went from former fan to someone who did NOT want her to return to this franchise.    Still, she can be charming and make me laugh, but, I never forget who she really is.  I never decided if it's personality disorder or just plan mean.  HOWEVER, her popcorn is yummy.  I'm addicted.  That kills me! lol

Beth does not suffer fools gladly.  Especially fools who barely have a pulse.

I would also think Adam's vocal fry would drive her crazy.  She's used to surrounding herself with billionaires, movers 'n' shakers and people who can do things for Bethenny.  Like the Fredrik Ecklunds' and the Dennis Shields' of the world.  Carole and Adam just don't seem to fit the mold. Unless by some slim chance they are hilarious and fun to be with in person.  Anything's possible, I guess.

Yeah..... Beth's brand of "snark" repulses me.

Carole is a close second

I think the pleasure I see under the surface with some of the ugly stuff is what has sealed the deal for me.

Others have been catty and gone low sure but the fact that there's usually some context to it: A fight, a disagreement, some conflict, a situation that draws out these less than stellar confrontations is the reason why to me it's different.

Beth just vomits stuff all the time, randomly. Just spewing dislike left and right and is so jovial about it.

Very disturbing but that's our Beth...

Carole just comes across as completely vapid.

So not having amnesia means one should continuously bad mouth someone every chance they get?

That's what some people think keeping it real means?

Interesting.

Girl is doing just fine but the brand is not what is used to be.

Yeah, it's pretty glaringly obvious; the desperate and ridiculous way she pimps her crap is like a bad SNL skit at this point. Too bad for her she lacks the self-awareness to realize her hosebeast demeanor offsets all the logo saturation.

Quote

Since Carole is more informed about the election than anyone else, I am still waiting to hear some kind of insider info dribble out of her mouth that the rest of us unconnected pleebs were not privy to.

Going by their conversation, it seemed Dorinda was sending her some kind of info.

LOL @ "Gutter Gums".

Was it B who was so excited that Carole was a "princess" and could stick it to "countess" LuAnn?  Now that LuAnn isn't a countess any longer (heck, it was always an honorary title and really lost the sheen after the divorce), maybe she just doesn't need Carole any longer.

Or maybe that Ramona.....or both of them.

I agree. I wonder if Carole will someday realize that the 'playful' barbs that Bethenny has directed at her (she doesn't have a pulse, etc.) were really not that playful.

We saw some indication of a divide during this episode and the last.  They are losing patience with each other and I understand that.  Sooner or later there will be a blow out, imo.  It's happening everywhere.

It's then that I think Carole will realize that Bethenny wasn't laughing with her as much as laughing at her.  Beth probably did start out poking friendly fun at Carole, as friends do, but these are weird times and I think Carole will move away because Beth isn't like minded and Beth will move away because Carole is teetering on obsessiveness.

Carole looked disturbingly like a koala in that first scene at Bethenny's house.

Look guys, all we're saying is 3+ pages of posts that spend most of their time discussing Beth/Lu from last season and beyond belong in either Beth/Lu or last season's topics.

No one is saying you can't reference a past event but the majority of your post should be about the episode at hand.

Additionally, if you have questions etc. about where a post went or any other mod actions please shoot the mods a PM (that's me, @Aethera, @Mya Stone, @OnceSane and @saoirse) but please don't talk about it in thread. That's going to get hidden as well.

I could see Carole reminding Bethenny constantly that she's a Serious Journalist and Beth thinking, girl please. You left the serious journalist thing a long time ago and now you are essentially a Housewife who is shacking up with her much younger boyfriend.  Wonder if Adam pays rent?  If not that's quite an incentive to stick around for him.

Your assumptions seem to be based on nothing more than your aversion to particular people. You keep making excuses for Luann's bad behavior while drilling down hard on what you perceive to be less than stellar conduct and/or comments by Bethenny and Carole.  As I said before, if you like one or more of these women, everything they do and say will seem great to you; if you don't like one or more of them, everything they do or say will, to you, be fraught with nefarious purpose.

Dorinda is what I would describe as a 'handsome' woman. It's really easy for her to look like Beaker from the muppets, especially when she's martini monstering. I thought she looked great this episode, I actually love her 'cool' aesthetic. I think Dorinda looks 'cooler' than cool girl hipster Carole. Dorinda continues to have a great eye for fashion and what suits her.

I wonder how long Sonja and Tinsley are going to last? At the production rental friend's hous, Sonja ceased to be amusing after she tried shifting Tinsley's Frette linened bed to see if it would move under duress. Ok, that was a little bit topical and funny. But she then extrapolated to the nth degree, and to crickets by jumping ON Tinsley's bed (I hate when people get on or in my bed in scuzzy street clothes, or generally take liberties with what I consider my sanctuary) and dry humping. It just went on and on and Tinsley looked pained about it. She looked 'how do I get this bitch out of my room so i can take my bra and heels off and chill for a minute?'. Sonja is losing her comedic timing and is in danger of really becoming an embarrassing old broad, which is sad.

LMAO!!!!  Damn you!  I can't unsee it.

To me Carole has resigned herself to the fact Bethenny is abrasive and a one of kind friend.  Bethenny pays for trips for Carole and Adam so there is that.  What Carole would never tolerate from another friend I don't think registers any longer with Bethenny.  Carole most likely considers it part of the RH experience.  The contrast in energy levels is amusing between the two.

I am not a producer or editor but if all they do is get together have scorched conversations and then refuse to attend or invite others it will be a fairly short season.  My guess is there will be a Berkshires party and a trip to Mexico.  Maybe it is time to reshuffle the deck.  Obviously the one with the most going on this season is Luann and her happiness is putting a damper on a dark season.

The ratings are very close to last year and don't reflect the same success as Atlanta, Orange County and Beverly Hills.  So they are essentially pretty much in the cellar for the established franchises.    I believe NJ has had two short seasons in a row.  Maybe it will give the stars time to cool off in between taping the Reunion and return to filming.

Bethenny's bridge walk of shame was one of the standout episodes for me and will forever give Ramona a point: she basically spent that walk telling Bethenny if she didn't change her behaviour and the way she treated people, she'd end up friendless and alone and miserable and Jason wouldn't stick around.

Except, Jason wasn't in the picture yet.   The talk was just rude to B.  Also, Lu was always rude to B before she had money.  When B was on the Hamptons Magazine cover, Lu asked her if it was touched up.  Lu has always acted like the high and mighty countess when evidence showed she could be a fall down drunk.  Remember one article about her sloppy drunk, all over a guy, at a party, before the count left her.

They should have revoked her Countess decoder ring right then and there. FOR SHAME!

and I'm hoping there was a safety disclaimer in her book stating how people should take the advice in it at their own risk since the author has become intoxicated a time or two.

LOL....

This is the post Dorinda is quoting. It's from a Facebook Group. A lot of people remember it because Sonja denied it never happened and the alleged statement was lies.

First off they really aren't assumptions when it is either on film or in writing.  I think it is safe to say Bethenny Frankel does not care what either Ramona or Luann think of her.

I like jokes and one liners from plenty of comedians and writers I don't care for personally. Same with words of wisdom or observations for people who I am politically I am on the other end of the spectrum.  So please stop telling my thought process.  I am not really that much a devote follower or excuse maker.  I don't know if you are in a position to know what I like or don't like or how my opinions are formed..

Never, ever in my world is it acceptable or anything but a nasty jab to say a woman is going to give a guy a blow job.  I don't care if the speaker says the same thing about herself minutes later.   As to Ramona and Luann having the side conference, I find it weird, but I find Ramona weird and to me it was no different than many of Ramona's conversations where she starts talking about how stupid someone is because they don't get her.  I find mixing the failure to notify the  acquisition of puppies and a years ago soft porn movies weird and not in an endearing way. I did laugh along with Bethenny and Carole over the puppies comment because it was funny in the context Ramona used it.  The fact it only revved Ramona and her frustration with Bethenny.    Luann's comment about Bethenny's ex-porn career, I didn't find funny as much as poor choice of words and ten years from now, Bethenny will be throwing those words back in Luann's face.

There was no real wisdom coming from the Ramona/Luann conversation and initially I think Luann was trying to get Ramona to acknowledge she had offended Bethenny and her daughter.  Then it disintegrated into Bethenny making cracks about Luann's book and Ramona's face and references to Halloween and finally Ramona calling Bethenny a witch..  The other side show of Carole and Ramona and the childless stuff has already happened.  It is a dumb comment by Ramona, but it is so rare Ramona ever says anything that isn't patently offensive or untruthful, I believe Carole was easily dissuaded from arguing the point with Ramona.

Spoken like a true man. That Lu needs Tom to make her great again. Lol. Though I do believe that is what Lu thinks about herself. Sad.

Honestly though I would not want to be any of these women. I wonder how many women watch this show wishing they were one of them? No one that I know. But Lu would be at the bottom of the list of who I would trade places with, if it meant adopting her personality and low self esteem as well. And of course, Tom.

Let's go back in time about 60 years to think women need men to be "great".

the worst things about Luann and Sonja is that both of them needed men to make them rich and society women. Both had modest jobs as a hostess and nurse, both wanted wealth and married older men to get it. Both believed that they were more important than they were calling themselves Countess and Lady Morgan. Neither have actually accomplished anything by themselves on their own merit. Luann's silly etiquette book was only because she married a count.

Ramona and Bethany, both successful business women on their own merits. They didn't need men to make millions. Ramona would probably still prefer to be married, but Bethany has a full life. Full of friends, exotic vacations, her daughter, her business. Why would she be jealous of a woman like Luann ?

Actually not true with LuAnn who had a career in Italy as a TV host before she met her husband, so really, your post is not at all accurate. She had success on her own before she met the Count and was living a really nice lifestyle.

Also how do you find "neither accomplished anything on her own merit?"  It's one thing to say someone married into wealth, it's another to belittle the accomplishment of being a nurse.

She's still scratchin' to catch up to Sonja who seems to know EVERYONE! The last time she was on WWHL it was revealed she went out with either Trump (w/ pic) or Johnny Carson; I think it was Trump, while I think it was Sally Fields who admitted to going out with Carson once! ;-)

You forgot to mention the accomplishment of a hostess too.  My point is that neither were satisfied with their respectable trades and both wanted to be rich. And it's doubtful that Luanne brought much money into their marriage. Did she continue her work as a TV hostess?  Probably not as soon as she snagged a wealthy man.

Many women who land on television and are considered quiet beautiful end up traveling in circles that include the wealthy.  It's not surprising LuAnn would attract a wealthy man. She seemed to love him too.  So I'm not going to cast aspersions on her first marriage as though she was only in it for the money.

Sonja is a different story.  Much has been made about her being a "hostess."  I'm not sure what that really entails.  I assume in NYC and probably the ritzy place she met a very wealthy man, she was probably a draw to the restaurant.  Sonja is a beautiful woman who has charm.  Did she marry for money?  Yes, I'm sure given her husband is significantly older than her, she more than likely did.

It would have been a good storyline for Carole to be working on the Clinton campaign. Carole was able to win a seat on her co op board a few seasons ago. She has political experience

I'm not a big Luann fan, but I believe she was quite a successful TV personality in Italy before she ever hooked up with her first husband. Credit where due.

I thought she had left that job when she moved to be with the rich boyfriend.  The one she was with for years before she eloped with the Count while he was out of town?

This is actually why I like this show with both Bethenny & Ramona.  There are lots of people in the world that say things that show both kindness or rudeness to others, and at the same time, we are surprised when they agree with each other...I felt the same way about Brandi and Tamra Barney.  They both have some evil intent coursing through their veins, but no one is all bad. (With few exceptions...Okay, Satan...)  People can contradict our preconceived notions.

R and B are both often rude, but I do agree with you and I think that Bethenny has some of the best jokes and one liners on this show, regardless of her evilness.  Just because I don't always like her, or her character 24/7, doesn't mean everything she says/does gets on my nerves.  Same with the Ramona coaster.  She's clearly unfiltered, but I agree with previous posters who says that Ramona usually nails the truth in those situations.  Carole annoys the heck out of me with her snobbiness but she's made me laugh several times over the years and sometimes I like some of the things she says, when she's interesting on occasion!

Most people in real life and the people on these shows are not one dimensional and I don't think it's right to put most people in a box.

I like Carole most of the time, but she is the must presumptuous of them all.  She's had some great thoughts as well as one liners.  However, She puts people that are not on the same side of the aisle in a box, closes the box and wraps it up...and gives no consideration for them to not fit her stereotype of them.  In her own words, "I'm inclusive, my election party is bipartisan, everyone is invited...sort of..." wink, wink. But really only if you agree with her thoughts on politics because you are obviously not informed if you don't.

Dorinda is fun too, but really, what she said to Carole about telling Hannah to just strip if Clinton loses?!  What in holy hell was she thinking?  I bet Carole thinks Dorinda is informed even though she sounded irrational at that table.  That doesn't mean I will never listen to anything Carole says in the future with an open mind but I do have no use for people that are so stuck on certain subjects.  It's like a child that isn't worldly enough to understand anything he/she hasn't experienced yet beyond their home, is still possible.

Honestly, I think that's what this show (all housewives shows) does...it helps you see both sides of the stories from each ladies point of view.  Since we don't them personally, you can be fairly objective...If you can't, you might want to examine how you judge others...

The point is that she became a success on her own, before she was married. I have no idea what the exact timing was, but I do know that her success came before she met Alex.

Dorinda keeps getting partially quoted, out of context. She didn't sound irrational.  She was making a valid point, using hyperbole.

So she traded in one rich European guy for another rich European guy, except this one had a title? I guess we can call that an upgrade of sorts.
