Simon is slimy and gross but I'd rather have him for the main villain than Negan.  Simon can be accidentally and even deliberately funny, Negan is just annoying.

The only time I enjoy seeing Negan on screen is when Eugene is outsmarting him.

I hope the theory of Eugene's Long Con is right! It would suck for him to go from someone willing to complete a suicide mission for CDB back to a little pissant. I would just think he'd have a different reaction to Rosita than literally falling to the ground and crying. He doesn't have to tell her he's going to sabotage their ammo and find a moment to slip Negan a death pill. "I have to stay here. Trust me on this," or "If I go they'd take it out on Alexandria" would have sufficed. But, yeah...tv show, suspension of disbelief and all that. Here's hoping he's not being a dick.

Why does he owe her anything though? She browbeat him into making a bullet, essentially got someone *else* killed. I wouldn't want to deal with her either.

Did Rosita even think about the fact that Negan or his crew would burn Alexandria to the ground and mount everyones heads on sticks if she was found dead or alive?

I'm surprised no one brought that up. Actually, no, I'm not surprised. "She's going, no matter what." Uh, no, I'm not getting shot because Rosita thinks she post modern Rambo. So if it means I'm breaking her leg, then find her crutches.

This episode highlights how vulnerable the Saviors really are, when a couple of yahoos can access an easy sniper point right outside their compound, and then easily infiltrate without detection.

1. yahoos. 2. The fact that this is actually so easy underscores how ridiculous this whole plot is because someone actually competent should have done this already if it's that easy.

All that said, I think they abandoned their hide-out and snipe at him plan because the radio said that the Saviors were going to search the surrounding buildings to gather more walkers.

Yes, so then you abort and try again another time. Now, saviors are going to find the dead guy, and know something is up. And they lost a bullet.

If they only had two bullets, does that mean Sasha, Rosita, and Daryl get to fight over who gets to kill themselves with the remaining bullet?  Because they don't want to be caught alive, and maybe get the people at Alexandria and the Hilltop killed in retaliation.  {face palm}  Then the other two kill themselves how?  {double face palm}  If they had used both the bullets to kill Negan, and gotten caught by the Saviors, how were they going to kill themselves then? {triple face palm}  I guess they could have stabbed themselves, or let the Saviors shoot them.  The more I think about this half-assed no plan really at all of Sasha and Rosita's the worse it sounds.  However, it doesn't even begin to compare to the stupidity of the Negan SL in general.  Apparently, these people can't sneak off and get away from Negan and the Saviors by getting the hell out of the state, but they can wonder around all over the place, and sneak up on the Saviors main compound with no problem.

Both Sasha and Rosita knew going in this would be a suicide mission, so forget the whole "save the last bullet for yourself" stuff.

  • Rosita has already demonstrated to the nth degree that so long as she can bust a cap in Negan, she has zero concern for whatever consequences befall her.  Rosita will die happy so long as Negan dies first.
  • After the passing in fairly short succession of both Bob-B-Q and Tyreese, Sasha was working on her own little Death Wish sequel; remember her laying in the pit of dispatched walkers? Sasha's only diversion from a path of self-destruction was Abraham, right up until he took it like a champ.  I think Sasha's scenes with Maggie were illustration of the desolation of Sasha's soul.  Both she and Maggie have lost their loves in a most brutal and shattering fashion.  Maggie is carrying Glenn's baby, however, so (a) Maggie has that as a reason to keep going, and (b) a part of Glenn will continue to live on.  Sasha has nothing, though, other than a necklace made by Abraham's previous girlfriend; aside from memories, Abraham and all that he was has been erased from the face of the earth.

Yeah, I was saying, Eugene doesn't have an obligation to tell Rosita, "hey, I'm working on something here." Unlike her, he has the patience to bide his time. If anything *she* should have said, "we're going to snipe Negan, don't stand so close." But of course, they couldn't just abort and come back another time.

But how is it a suicide mission when you only have a couple of bullets and your target is really motivated to capture you alive and make someone else pay?

Carl isn't necessarily useless. He saved his dad's ass and helped him take down that massive herd of zombies back at the prison. Given Daryl's refusal to grow and his penchant for moping, I wouldn't really trust him much.

Carl has grown leaps and bounds because earlier seasons his death couldn't come fast enough. He's so much better now and growing into a little bad ass with sneaking onto Savior's truck and taking out two of them. He's not afraid of Negan.

If I was with that group I would have Michonne, Carl, Jesus, & Sasha with me cause I know they woudn't hesitate to kill some Saviors.

I agree, and I wish that the show would remember this. When was the last time we even saw Carl for more than a fleeting moment? I might be biased, because I like Carl, but it seems like a long time - since the midseason break anyway - since he's even been considered in the picture never mind the plot.

It's a suicide mission when you go in with zero expectation of personal survival - getting killed by your target if unsuccessful, or his loyalists if successful.

And your target's motivations don't mean shit if you annihilate his ass first.  In fact, I'm certain that is part of what is gnawing at Rosita.  Negan is only alive now (and Olivia dead) because of Negan's pure-born stupid blind luck in intercepting Rosita's bullet with Lucille - a maneuver he probably could not have intentionally pulled off on a bet.  Success would nullify much (if not all) of the threat of reprisal.

It's idiocy though when you know quite clearly that if you fail, regardless if you die, than someone else who is innocent in all this will die also.

So don't fail.  :)

So Jesus is gay. I said that aloud to my husband last night (who quit watching, but likes when I shout highlights from the couch), and he thought I was talking about the real Jesus and you should have seen his face.

I don't know if I'm allowed to say this but Jesus was gay in the comic.  I was wondering if they were going to go with that or just ignore it.  I always thought his name in the comics was pronounced th Spanish way: Hayzuz.  It didn't  occur to me he was really a Jesus, lol.

I could be wrong -- I haven't had time to rewatch this episode -- but my impression was the "bullets" Sasha took from Jesus's hollowed out book were the only rifle rounds that were appropriate for that nifty sniper's rifle Rosita gave her.  I'm pretty sure there were at least four rifle rounds in the book, plus a handful of bullets of assorted calibers.  I can't recall if she actually took all of the ammo, but Jesus said she could have them, so it's at least possible.

My recollection is just two rifle rounds, and some other rounds.

Okay, I finally had a chance to watch this episode again and froze the TV screen when it got to the hollowed-out book. There are four rifle rounds -- two of which look slightly smaller than the two Sasha takes -- and six bullets of assorted calibers, plus two keys. Also, when Sasha is packing stuff in her backpack to leave, she does not take the book.

Not that it matters; by going in after Negan, she's clearly abandoned her sniper plans.

So far as there being only two rifle bullets - nothing necessarily points to the rifle being used on the two-for-one shot.  Considering both Sasha and Rosita were johnny-on-the-spot in front of Eugene immediately after the shot, I'd say there's at least even odds a handgun could have been used.  Maybe more than even, considering (a) a suppressor (aka a "silencer") was used for the shot and (b) so far as I recall, the only suppressor-equipped weapons we've seen have been pistols.

This show should be called "The Talking Dead." So much dialogue and so much of it is bad dialogue that doesn't reveal anything about the characters or move the plot forward.

My sentiments exactly.  When the biggest thing that happened was someone knocking vegetables or fruit out of someone's hands, you know it's a snoozer.   Talk, talk, talk and do some gardening.

I'm such a big WD fan, but the season has been a disappointment.   From the Negan porn violence in Ep 1 to talking about way too much stuff and doing nothing.  When does getting rid of the Saviors begin?

And this episode was the most boring ever.  No idea what most of them were babbling about.

Me and a friend were watching S1 of Stargate during the commercials  and found it more interesting than WD.  I couldn't wait for the WD scenes to end so we could get back to SG.

The Cable Live +3 ratings are in for "The Other Side":

A second-round NCAA Tournament game on TNT ranks second in both adults 18-49 and total viewers in the Live +3 cable ratings for the week of March 13.

But in terms of how far behind the No. 1 show, “The Walking Dead,” it’s like a 1 vs. 16 matchup — no contest. The March 19 episode of the AMC show is at 6.5 among adults 18-49 and 13.880 million viewers with three days of DVR playback.

Those aren’t great numbers by “Walking Dead” standards, but as usual, they stand way, way above everything else on cable for the week. Its 18-49 rating is more than three times the 2.1 for the NCAA game, and its viewer total is more than twice as high as the hoops telecast.

And here are the Live + Same Day and Live +3 ratings for Season 7 so far:

10-23-16 “The Day Will Come When You Won’t Be” 17.029 million; 20.793 million

Here are the Cable Live +7 ratings for "The Other Side":

The March 19 episode of “The Walking Dead” tied a five-year low among adults 18-49 the night it aired. After a week of delayed viewing, though, the episode ended up beating the previous one in both the 18-49 demographic and total viewers.

The AMC show gained 2.3 points in adults 18-49, growing from 4.7 to 7.0 in the Live +7 ratings. That’s 0.1 better than the previous week. It also added 4.45 million viewers to finish at 14.776 million; both of those numbers are larger than the March 12 episode.
