In the first part of a combined Season 3 finale, a new angle in the DA's case forces Annalise to change her strategy, and the Keating 4 react to a revelation about Wes' death. In the second hour, details from the night of the fire show who killed Wes, testing Annalise's and the Keating 4's desire for self-preservation.

OK, overjoyed with Asher and Michaela, let me get that out of the way.

Holy shit, it was Laurel's father?! WTF is his problem? Why on earth would he order a hit on some poor young man that was going out with his daughter, it wasn't like they were getting married.

And my biggest question is did I not see/hear Anna go from saying that he felt like my son, to he was my son?

Oh I forgot, I literally fell in love with Wes well maybe that's a stretch, but I sure did feel like cradling him in my arms while watching that young man fight for his life. That was so fucking AWFUL to watch.

I'll take this as a partial victory...Laurel indirectly...by accident...killed Wes...by being in a relationship with him. Close enough. She did it (unintentionally)!

Yeah, Wes' death scene was not cool, and it was all the more infuriating that it was done by some random dude we meet ten minutes before the show ends. Just nonsensical, and there's no way in hell I will ever be convinced that this was part of the main plaaaaaan all along. They killed off the character and then decided to throw something together later on.

And I'm certainly not here for Laurel: The Miniseries. I'm good on this show, I'll catch Viola in every other awesome project she will be part of.

Yup.  She said it.  It was after her speech about wondering how Wes's holidays were, etc.

Was Wes her kid and she paid Rose to raise him?  They did bring upAnnaliese  getting raped again.

I just think the whole Laurel's father is something they did on the fly....It just makes no sense..and there's no way Wes was AK's son...I am happy for Asher and Michela..but the rest seemed like a letdown..

I can't see me watching next season...

Knew we weren't done with the Mahoneys when Sylvia said Anna had it wrong. I don't think it was a wife and mother in denial. The flashback showed Sylvia wasn't as much a cold bigoted bitch towards Christophe and his mother, There's more to the story with Wes and Charles that we'll get next season.

Of course Laurel in all her self righteous anger has the person she's looking for in her own damn family. Why her dad had Wes killed is gonna be a doozy. Laurel was looking for someone to kill all episode. Connor is lucky she didn't put a bullet in him.

I hate that the DA's office was so twisted but I gotta say, like with the Keating 5, Annalose has a habit of getting people so twisted that it turns them REALLY ugly. Atwood and Co. literally became the monsters they think Annalise is and while Annalise hasn't killed anyone she and the K5 and Frank, and Bonnie have done horrible shit that they all deserve hard time for. There really are no heroes on this show. Only people who have done bad things trying to protect themselves from other people who have done bad things.

ETA: Wes's death was absolutely brutal. To fight off your attacker and crawl on hands and knees for the door calling for help only to lose control of your body and be smothered by someone for reasons you'll never know why. His life was so hard he didn't deserve that death. And yet he still did Annalise a solid by leaving that VM they could use.

Oy.  Wes' death scene was brutal.  So not fair!  And yeah I was like.. waaah?  They are pinning it on the dity DA.  But then the reveal that Laurel's dad is the murderer?  That brought it home.  I LOVE that.  Need to re-watch it, but man.

Ok, Oliver won me over with the kiddie porn idea.  That is how you think outside the box!

But seriously, what kinds of helling hell police state are they operating in?  Connor shackled in some bunker?  WTF?  That DA needs to go down.  That is the one part in all of this I actively hated  He needs to go!

Awww, Asher and Michaela!

Anna was just saying, to her he felt like her son. Sigh, we had moved past all this speculation about him being her kid. He isn't her son. That would make the entire Mahoney story make no sense.

Mahoney Snr NOT being a rapist/Wes's Dad --- that was Mahoney Jnr.

We speculated that the son was the rapist back when the ep around Rose first aired. I think most people were saying his age at the time made it seem like he wouldn't have been the rapist.

I wanted someone to slap Laurel every time she opened her mouth this ep.

So clearly Laurel's father just can be some big man in the tech. industry right? Isn't that what she claimed when Oliver made that stereotypical comment about what her father  did?

Clearly Laurel doesn't have the 411 on jack shit in terms of what her father is really about, and when she finds out he had Wes killed, she's going to end up committed just like her mother, because she's going to lose it.

Denver was really rabid about taking down Annalise, but can anyone really blame him? He's watched for years as she's played dirty to beat his office. Guess he figured he had to fight fire with fire.

Poor Wes. Dead and now under the bus for everyone's crimes.

I've been waiting all of season 3B to see Annalise really get to mourn Wes, so I absolutely loved the last scene of Annalise talking about him in her AA meeting.

I call bullshit on Charles Mahoney being Wes' father. He looks the same now as he did 10 years ago. He must be on one helluva skin regimen. That or he's a vampire.

Great scene between Annalise and Mama Mahoney, though.

I'll admit that the first half of this finale dragged for me. The stuff w/the DA and Atwood was too dragged out. It's like they tried to stuff as many red herrings and as much misdirection as possible into the two episodes, and after a while I was tired.

The last 20 minutes or so were pretty good. Glad we got to see what happened to Wes. Poor kid, what a horrible way to die. What on earth did Laurel's father have against Wes that he had him killed?

On a shallow note, I noticed that Dominic (the guy who actually killed Wes) is played by the hot Nicholas Gonzalez (at least I think that's him). I could live with seeing more of him next season - as long as the character ends up the next murder victim.

ETA: I don't think Annalise was saying Wes was actually her son. I think she was finally admitting that he felt like a son to her. That was something she had resisted admitting for a while.

It really was! As a Wes fan, it hurt watching him being killed so brutally.

What the hell was THAT? Weren't we told that Karla Souza fought hard against her character's family being the mafia/cartel stereotype? And now we find out that her father put a hit on her boyfriend of 5 minutes (he had more of a problem with WES than FRANK?!!) for...what exactly?

So I'm guessing she lost the fight?

I don't watch this show regularly...and really I love to hate this show.  But everytime I watch Annalise  says, "I'm doing this for you!"  Every.time.  She's only known those kids for 3 years or so when they walked into her class.  Why is she doing this for them?  What exactly is she doing?  Getting them into more trouble? Ugh. *rolls eyes like Laurel*

Yeah that's him, the actor gets around. He was just over at this other show I watch Being Mary Jane doing hot sex scenes. His character is a lot nicer on that show, that's for sure.

That was disappointing.  The only interesting thing about it is that whiny Laurel's family is responsible for Wes' death while she's been crowing about everyone else being to blame all season.  It was a terrible death scene, just like Lila's and Rebecca's but was only done so they could say they killed off a main character - there was no other reason behind it, no fascinating mystery, nothing.  Unless Laurel's dad goes around killing everyone she's ever had a relationship with?

This resolution was almost as bad as a Mahoney cousin five times removed being the killer, which is what I was half expecting so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Correct, Wes wasn't Anna's son.  Mrs Mahoney said she knew he was her grandson.

I think Anna saw Wes as her son, that's it.

Her saying Wes was her grandson doesn't negate Anna being the mother.

I'd have been happy to do it. I have a deep down seething anger whenever I see her. I have yet to muster up any level of giving AF about what she's going through. Her reaction when she finds out it was her Dad who did this is the only reason I'll watch next season. Yeah, her Dad is something...

Can't figure out what the heck is going on with Annalise.

Michaela and Asher were cute. Could have done without the "I love you too" in a dramatic moment while also in the bathroom, but I should expect those adorable moments from this show.

Ha! A real shocker would've been if Wes had a identical twin brother that he didn't know about but that his mother had given away to protect him and all the darkness Annalise assigned to Wes actually was describing his homicidal twin. Hey it'd have been a way to keep the Wes actor for another season!

When I think about it, everything began with Wes's Rebecca obsession.  Had he not been obsessed with her, they never would have been in the house and Wes never would have killed Sam, to protect Rebecca.

Total reboot now, Novack is toast, Nate has his job back, Atwood is gone.  Now we need to figure out what's up with Laurel's dad.

So that's a lot of information to process. Granted, the finale was two hours.

So, Laurel's dad is behind Wes' death, so that's going to cause a bigger rift with them. And Dominic is a family friend? Or ex boyfriend of Laurel's? But hey, we get to see more of the Mahoneys since nobody knows about Dominic being the killer and Laurel's dad ordering the hit. Plus, Charles is Wes' bio dad? So...wait, Charles would have been eighteen or something when it happened? He was at least early twenties since Wes should have been around nineteen/twenty when he was murdered.

So...I might have given my TV the middle finger for that Annalise confession at the end. So, they're really going there with the Wes is Annalise's son theory that I thought they ended a while ago? Really, show? Not a twist, just annoying. I'd like to think it's another fakeout. It's just odd to end the finale on that particular note.

Connor is proposed to by Oliver. Blech. But Asher and Michaela love each other! Aww!

So, we're definitely getting some more background on Laurel next season. Can we get some background on Connor too? Because Jack got some excellent material to work with tonight and he's extremely talented as an actor. I'd like to think that Connor will turn down Oliver's proposal so he can get his own shit figured out. Plus, we can't have happy couples on this show. Happiness means death. That being said, leave Asher/Michaela alone, show. Let them be happy.

Also, I guess we'll still get some more of Wes/Alfred next season. There's still a LOT to be uncovered, like who he was calling that afternoon and who would know his name. Was he calling Charles Mahoney, perhaps? Or Charles' mother? She did say that there's so much that Annalise still didn't know.

I'll be honest; Laurel's gotten on my nerves. I guess I just am not here for the "woe is me" Laurel, the one that assumes that she knows Wes best and everyone else couldn't care less. Her grief is understandable, I guess, but it doesn't mean I'm still not annoyed by it all.

He didn't kill Frank.

He still could I guess!  Maybe that's what Dominik (?) is going to do next!  A bit belated but never mind, it's time for Laurel's dad to be involved in the story now, apparently.  I guess they're going to say he somehow found out Laurel was pregnant by Wes and decided to get rid of him...for some reason.  I mean, really, why?  Is he going to steal the baby if/when it's born and have it sent away or killed also?

I am going to go ahead and assume that maybe laurels dad told this guy to kill laurels boyfriend because he thought it was frank and maybe this guy followed laurel to find out who her boyfriend was and thought it was wes he meant? That's the only thing that makes sense to me.  Why else would he want to kill wes?

This would make sense, since the Wes hookup was pretty recent.

But what was Dominick giving to the crooked DA at the end?  Is he ratting out Laurel's  dad?

Wes isn't analises son we know that. Also, wes would have been at least 23 or 24 possibly older because you have to get an undergrad degree before you can go to law school and unless you are some genius nobody finishes that until 21

Did she not know?  I remember them saying Laurel didn't know yet, but then I thought they weaseled on that and it's awfully hard to remember anything on this show.  Besides, with this show, you never know.  Maybe Mr. Castillo somehow knew Laurel was pregnant before she did, just somehow.  I mean, seriously I would not be surprised if they said he had some secret way to test her for pregnancy without her knowing because I am so po'd at this show.  All that rigamarole and all that Laurel-whining and this is what we got?  Some guy we never saw before killed Wes at the behest of Mr. Castillo, who has barely been on the show before himself and whom we know Laurel doesn't get along with anyway.  Boring!  I guess they didn't want to risk losing another main cast member after already killing Wes off.  This was just messed up.  Sorry I am so negative.
