On Graham's sofa are four-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening, starring in the critically acclaimed 20th Century Women, former Spiderman Andrew Garfield, appearing in Angels in America at the National Theatre, Britain's longest-serving female MP, Harriet Harman, to discuss her memoir A Woman's Work, and rising British star Asa Butterfield, in new sci-fi The Space Between Us. Plus music from Elbow, who perform their new single Magnificent (She Says).

If Miriam Margolyes was listening to Harriet Harman, she probably stroked out hearing "like" every other word. I was kind of surprised to hear all of them, as I'd think someone with as much public-speaking experience as Harman has had would be a smoother speaker.

I've never heard of Elbow, but the sound was familiar. (In a good way; I don't mean to slag the group.)

I've enjoyed Elbow for a long time, since the early 00s.  Guy Garvey has a good radio programme in the UK too.

I liked Graham's connecting Elbow with Annette Bening's contortion.

It could be that Harriet Harman's public speaking has been limited to using notes, cards, teleprompter and she may just be uneasy speaking off-the-cuff.

I've been drenched in politics lately, so my brain might well be over-saturated, but: Annette Bening should be the first choice to play Elizabeth Warren whenever people make movies about 2016-2017. Also, the Elbow lead singer was giving me a super-creepy Steven Bannon vibe. I mean, SB is super-creepy; I don't know anything about this guy.

I was harrumphing about the gravity-McGuffin in Asa's movie. A body becomes accustomed to a new gravity situation pretty fast. He wouldn't be 'heavy walking' very long. Sure, his musculature/skeleton would be unready, and he'd probably tire quickly at first, but that kind of thing resolves fast. (Yes, that's the nit I'm going to pick on a sci-fi teen romance movie.)

I was delighted to see a cold-open skit for a change this season. I get wanting to change it up after so long, but god help me, I love that cheap-laff shit.

Omg, I was watching the show and surfing the web and an article came up on Warren and I too noticed the resemblance, basically in the facial bone structure.

This was such a low-key, blah show. I find Garfield generally insufferable but he's gotten more tolerable as he gets older, now he's just kind of boring. I will say tho, I find Bening just lovely - low key, gracious, and beautiful. She's done nothing stupid to her face.

This. Just on physical appearance, though, I don't know anything about the guy either, so I don't want to judge him based on who he resembles...

It wasn't as zany as some episodes get, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I was underwhelmed by Asa Butterfield, but his  peevishness over the "wrong" alphabet program cracked me up.

I appreciate that he's matured. Many people who get intense attention when they're young never do. A certain idiotic Canadian singer comes to mind.

I was saying the same thing to my sister. Bening looks beautiful -- showing your age isn't bad -- and her face is natural. I also love her voice.

I liked listening to Garfield speak.

I could have done without Asa.

I hadn't heard of Elbow before, but my sister and I were having fun with the name. "Oh, there's a bunch of Elbows." "He's the head Elbow." Well, it was funny at the time.

The one guy in the red chair designed shoelaces? I guess someone's got to do it.

I thought he was adorable.  That typing thing was crazy, and I just wonder what these people's lives are like--famous child actor, but somehow finds out he has a unique gift for typing the alphabet amazingly quickly.  I'm a very fast typist (okay, I'll brag--I won the typing award in 9th grade), and the alphabet is tough.

All in all, I greatly enjoyed the show, and almost always do.  I think I just like the format.  Kind of like how I'll read just about anything if I enjoy the writing style, even if it's something I'm not interested in.
