Athena December 31, 2016 Share December 31, 2016 Quote On Graham's star-studded New Year's Eve sofa: award-winning actors Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard, together in Assassin's Creed; X-Men star James McAvoy, starring in new film Split; Olympic golden couple Laura Trott and Jason Kenny, chatting about their book The Inside Track; and Irish rowing heroes Gary and Paul O'Donovan. Plus music from Pete Tong and the Heritage Orchestra. Link to comment
Bruinsfan January 10, 2017 Share January 10, 2017 Am I the only one disappointed that Fassbender and McAvoy aren't on to promote a shared film? Those two are talk show gold together. Link to comment
sum January 10, 2017 Share January 10, 2017 (edited) I doubt anyone on this board was going to watch this episode specially for the cycling couple ;) but either way they were replaced by Frank Skinner promoting Room 101. Edited January 10, 2017 by sum 1 Link to comment
attica January 15, 2017 Share January 15, 2017 I wonder if McAvoy is contractually obligated to ride cycles every time he's on Graham's show.... I will admit to an anti-M.Night bias, but that movie looks...not good. The rowers continue to be adorable, putting on their podium pants and all. 2 Link to comment

ETA: I thought Pete Tong's performance was underwhelming, at best. "Hooked on Classics" did that long ago. Edited January 15, 2017 by dubbel zout 2 Link to comment
kat165 January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 Too many guests, too many ridiculous comedy bits (the Fassbinder/McAvoy paintings/biking, Marion lipsynching) and no red chair. I did enjoy the Irish rowers. I'm Irish and I had a hard time understanding them! I like how they made fun of Fassbinder's Kerry accent. He didn't even sound Irish to me. :) 1 Link to comment
Bruinsfan January 16, 2017 Share January 16, 2017 We've finally found an acting challenge beyond Fassbender's abilities: convincingly portraying someone who thinks there are good reasons for anyone to pay to see that crappy videogame movie. 4 Link to comment

Yeah. "Assassin's Creed" was savaged by the critics. 7 hours ago, kat165 said: Too many guests, too many ridiculous comedy bits (the Fassbinder/McAvoy paintings/biking, Marion lipsynching) and no red chair. The Michael Fassbender/James McAvoy fanart was hilarious. I love that they're such good sports about it. I couldn't stop laughing after the drawing of them on the balcony. James: "I'm blowing bubbles." Graham:" Yes, you are. For the moment." The look James gave Graham was a riot, because we all know what Graham was implying. Was James McAvoy always hot, or am I being influenced by the trailers for his new movie? 1 Link to comment
Bruinsfan January 17, 2017 Share January 17, 2017 I found him hot with goat ears 11 years ago, so I'd say the former. 2 Link to comment
kat165 January 17, 2017 Share January 17, 2017 I saw him a movie a really long time ago when he was about 17 and played wild English boy who befriends a less popular kid. He was hot back then. And I too liked him with the goat ears. :) Link to comment

And one of my HS teachers was from the same part of Cork as the O'Donovan's. I felt like they brought out Fassbender's Irish accent. I'm a NYer, raised by an Irishwoman and an Englishman; I spent my HS years in Ireland. Whenever I'm surrounded by Irish people, my accent changes from NY to general Irish (as in: not Cork, not NI, not Dublin; just Irish). I did miss the red chair. 15 hours ago, SmithW6079 said: I liked Marion Cotillard's lipsynching. Was she the one with whom Brad Pitt supposedly had an affair while filming "Allied"? I think perhaps the fanart had an effect on you and McAvoy became more attractive to you as a result of your having seen it. [/kidding!] 1 Link to comment

Same here, I've never heard that level of Kerry before. 23 minutes ago, fastiller said: Some folks theorized that her baby-to-be is a little Pitt. Some have gone so far to theorize the baby is her husband's, imagine that. I feel bad that Cotillard, a true artist, has been unfairly tacked on to this sordid talk. 3 Link to comment
kat165 January 17, 2017 Share January 17, 2017 (edited) fastiller, yes, I thought so too. The only time he sounded Irish to me was when he was speaking directly to them. The same thing happens to me when I'm around any Irish friends or relatives. Although when I visited an aunt/uncle in Ohio I came back sounding like them! A neighbor family from my very early childhood moved to Pittsburgh when the younger boy was about 7 or 8 or 9 (I was a couple of years younger); he had 'stage-Irish' red hair. Apparently he spent so much time with my mother that her accent rubbed off on him: his Mum & Dad were asked where they'd been living in Ireland. Link to comment
