I think Sierra's attitude toward Kyle changed (and rightfully so) when Kyle insisted she sit on his lap on the fishing boat.  Attention whore Kyle hated when Sierra didn't fall for his agressive romantic overtures.  Back in the day aggressive physical flirtations like this irritated the shit out of me.

Shame, because I think Kyle is good looking and generally a cool guy when he's not being a dick, but he's clearly got issues, one of them being anger control.

Those are the scariest kinds.  Many (many) years ago:  A cool guy, all smoothed, polished and the epitome of a gentleman until one night at a club, our 3rd date, he got drunk and handsy with me.  I stepped outside to get some air.  He followed, and sneered in front of a bunch of people: "After looking at you,  you're really not as pretty as I thought you were".  Then he told the valet to get his car and he drove his drunken ass away, leaving me in a bar in downtown Detroit.  I wouldn't have gotten in a car with him anyway but what came as a slight, embarrassing blow to my ego turned into, "Whew.  Dodged a bullet."  Huge bullet.  Prior to that night there was NOTHING to indicate he was like this. I can recall his sneering face today like it was yesterday. Guys like him and Kyle, with these hidden anger issues are the ones who turn into full blown abusers.

@queenjen, I think you're right that Kyle reminds us of those kooks in our past life that set the alarm bells jangling and subconsciously that's why we could never get onboard with Kyle.  He's that guy.   He seemed cool - although somewhat dysfunctional - until his ego got bruised and then the crazy came out.  Sierra picking up that radio was such a non-issue but he used that, in front of everyone, to once again try to embarrass her.  It's really a shame that there's not going to be a reunion as I'd like to see if Kelley and the others see what we see, now that they've seen the entire season.

I think it started when he told her that his baby mama would never have to work another day in her life.  After that, she seemed tentative and wanted to make the fishing trip a double date.  But then he acted playfully angry and she caved. However, if you watch that scene again - he seemed genuinely pissed, storming thru the crew quarters.  But yeah, I agree - him trying to get her to sit on his lap was probably one of many weird attempts aboard the fishing boat that made her try to escape and hide behind her phone.  Damn, I wish there was going to be a reunion.

Kyle seems to be stirring up memories of the aggro weirdos in the past, for many of us.  Gee, thanks, KYLE.  LOL

No reunion doesn't mean no renewal, Bravo doesn't usually announce renewals until spring along with the other networks.

This season was marginal at best; Bravo better dig out Kat's number for next season.  Too much obviously contrived drama and not enough landscape/yachting porn.

Yeah, would like to see more landscape and travel destination clips.

I haven't seen anything as lame as the deck crew parties since high school.

This show has never been about the travel and since Bravo typically increases the drama not downplay it as season go on I can't imagine that changing given the ratings which are good, not to mention the failure if their travel show Tour Group that was much more about the travel porn and was even retooled to showcase more drama.

I generally watch it a) not for the travel sights b) not for the crew drama but

c) watching rich jerks show how much of jerks they can be. The occasional nice guests are like a palate cleanser :)

Can someone tell me what it is they're spraying over the sheets after putting them on the beds?  I know about spraying lavender water over sheets before ironing them, but is that what they're doing in this situation?  Seems like it would make the bed damp....

Most likely linen spray. it comes out in a fine mist so doesn't make the bed damp.

I totally agree this season feels different. Like more canned. It reminds me of road rules semester at sea but like it shouldn't, if that makes sense?

Off topic but there's no forum for it the timber creek lodge show looks kinda dumb

I'm not sure this is a shame on Kyle as it is a shame on the producers.  They really wanted the trans storyline, but they didn't control the cast well enough.

Like Cass Elliot, donn knots & Tim Conway, Harlem Globetrotters, ect. I forgot they also had the Addams Family and Jabberjaw on. I think when a show starts getting a fuck load of guest stars is when it's in trouble, like out of ideas or being bitched at for ratings.

Arrested Development did the guest  spiel a lot and made a meta joke in show at the time.

Your reference is all over the place and...? I don't think BD had guest stars...really?  Just Bravo-adjacent people.

I don't believe that Bravo thought letting us see Ro, Ashley, or Ben's brother would really drive ratings. More like I think the storyline this year was driven more towards the crew's personal lives and they thought bringing their SOs on the boat might make things interesting.

I was making an analogy and talking about a tv trope. It's ok if you don't agree or understand my point.

I *get* the analogy.  Another is the Love Boat.  At first they had a stream of charter guests and the show did great. They started bringing the crew's family aboard.  I think it started with Captain Stubing's illegitimate daughter, Vickie, who came on to appeal to a younger audience. She stayed forever. Then Gopher's dad paid a visit to mend his relationship with the bumbling purser.  Cruise Director Julie McCoy's sister also visited and eventually took Julie's place (actress Lauren Tewes) when Lauren found her IRL personal life in a mess - in addition to a cocaine addiction.  Her contract was not renewed.  Prior to that, they also tried a Gopher/Julie (Gophulie?) relationship to up the sagging ratings.  Sound vaguely familiar?

If the Harlem Globetrotter's are ever featured on board the Valor, then Houston we have a problem.  Because not only did they make an appearance when those last episodes of the original Scooby Doo were sagging, but they were also on the Love Boat when it finally sank.  Globetrotters = kiss of death?

Another similarity, is that Love Boat also did cross overs with other Aaron Spelling shows.  Charlie's Angels appeared.  Via Wiki:  "In one episode, actors Robert Reed and Florence Henderson, formerly of The Brady Bunch, guest starred in separate segments. In one scene, the two pass each other in a corridor, execute a "do I know you?" double-take, and then continue on their separate ways without talking."  Haha.  It was fun to go down this rabbit hole this a.m.

I'm so glad I'm old enough to remember these shows from the 70s.  Gems! compared to the drudge that is on today.  But I'm still watching.  Guilty as charged, your Honor.

Also, it just dawned on me - is Andy Cohen this generation's Aaron Spelling???

I noticed the biggest change in her after she found out about his kid. I thought she already had an attitude the minute they stepped on the boat. It was clear she no longer wanted to go out with him one-on-one, and she should have just said so. That being said, Kyle is acting like his wife of 10 years cheated with his best friend...not like a girl you've known 5 minutes decided she doesn't think you're all that charming after all.

They both need to simmer, IMO.

Same. I like seeing how the crew navigates various types of guest drama. I prefer inner crew drama to be at a minimum.

Yes toilet paper is changed when it gets to 1/2 full. I did a summer cleaning hotel rooms and that was the rule. The same way used soap is whisked out of your room and you get a new bar every day. I took all those "used" bars home. After a month of that I didn't buy soap for 3 years!!! The waste is phenomenal.

I was a teenager and in my 20's in the 70s. Don't wear those rose colored glasses. Those shows were BAD and corny and did I say Bad? I was a devoted watcher of Love Boat, Fantasy Island, etc. but watch them now! There better left to your memory.

The episode title is annoying me to no end. It is "bitchy resting face," not "resting bitch face." It is describing the state of one's face at rest as bitchy. Everyone has a resting face, which is why it needs to be described.

I was really alarmed by the deck crew's anger with Sierra, which seemed completely out of line. Clearly she is the new Trevor, the person they can all bond over hating. Of course, Trevor was genuinely terrible, while Sierra seems like she might be mildly frustrating at times (as we can all be) but is overall harmless. If Kelly wants to continue to be a boss, he needs to learn how create cohesion within his team without whipping up (or allowing an employee to whip up) hatred about someone outside their group. Kelly, Nico, and Lauren have no real beef with Sierra, yet they're acting like she is a terrible person who has done them some terrible wrong. And Kyle is just creepy. He seems to have a very fucked-up attitude toward women (be they cis or trans). There is absolutely no reason why a man who is in a relationship should harbor this much rage about being rejected, even if Sierra should've been more upfront about the rejection initially. I'd bet she's learned her lesson about that.

I have no interest in watching Ben and Emily make out. She looks like she's 12 sometimes. He looks older than he is. She's an adult, she can do whatever she wants, but it's still a bit offputting to watch.

Kate was in the wrong with Amy in that earlier season, but I think she's been in the right most of this season, and all of this episode. The walkie-talkie babies are hilarious.

And on the guests ... I somewhat doubt that woman is actually doing such hands-on philanthropic work and she says. But I'd buy that she gives money to charity, and I don't think that it's hypocritical to be on a yacht while talking about the importance of giving back. The optics are weird, yeah, but rich people can both indulge themselves and give money to charity.

I used to really like this show. But I had trouble getting through this episode, and season. There was no fun or joy here; it was all nastiness. And not even interesting nastiness.

Oddly enough I understood their frustration with Sierra.  She is basically not very bright, way too sensitive to anyone who corrects her and insensitive about how she just might have offended someone, and does not allow others to finish or really start a statement.  Her first meltdown over Ben's criticism to her last move about Kate's questioning her dish drying technique was pretty indicative that she either can't take direction well or she felt she was hired to do something else.  Sierra lacks any awareness about her surroundings-see Painkiller episode.

As a viewer the issue that I have with Kate, is that when she communicates she is usual very sarcastic, trying to land the one-liner and although it makes for good TV, it is hard to at the receiving end of constant barbs and the sarcasm.

Most of all this season, the downer was Dean Slover, three times is way too much of this guy.  Too much of Kate and the Captain falling all over the great Dean.  He is kind of an ass.

Off topic, I know, it was called something else last year. It's like Below Deck at Whistler. The company is owned by a guy called Joey Gibbons, who has lost a LOT of weight for this season of what is now Timber Creek Lodge. I wonder if he is the son of Billy Gibbons from ZZTop? I hope there is a forum for this, I'm going to watch it. The first season was quite good, I thought, dramatic and easy to snark on a couple of the clueless 'concierges' as they call themselves. They could learn a LOT from the Below Deckers.

Funny, it annoyed the CRAP out of me when Kate was calling it 'bitchy resting face'! Die Antwoord, by favorite band of the last few years, has a track with lyrics that refer to 'this is my resting bitch face'. And I've heard others in daily conversation refer to being afflicted with 'resting bitch face'. As in, my default expression is unfortunately bitchy so people automatically assume I'm in a bad mood. Maybe it's a southern hemisphere thing?

I also get accused for being mad or sad when I'm just serious or thinking. But when I smile it can also be the opposite like much I'm interested in the person or dazzled by something. I work retail and when I smile too big guys think the wrong things & my female coworkers think I have a secret or am laughing at them almost a Sierra effect

Lol, totally agree. I suffer from bitchy resting face... even Kate (prior to this episode) referred to it as bitchy resting face- rightfully so, as it is the resting face that appears bitchy, not a bitch face at rest... I don't get how peeps confuse it ?  There's even a funny video on you tube about BRF, worth a gander, it's funny... at least to me since I relate...anywhoodle.

It would appear this show has hit the wall/jumped the shark, which bums me out. Maybe they can clean it up and give it another go, besides Kate, Ben and Capn Lee, I don't have any investment in the others. Vanilla annoying newbies, and Kelley sucks too. Sierra is kooky but she certainly didn't deserve Kyle and Kelleys wrath. Especially unprofessional of Kelley. And immature. Not that I'm surprised Kelley is immature and unprofessional. I want Eddie back, even if he did shag Rocky and then denied said shag... sigh.

Unfortunate that there won't be a reunion...

Bravo doesn't renew its shows like that. The renewal for last season didn't come until May at the upfronts. THe show keeps improving it's ratings, I doubt the show is cancelled. Another cast shake up I could see but not cancelled.

Don't know where you read it because they don't even announce the Housewive renewals coming back until after the season has finished airing and again tend to hold the official announcement until they list a group of shows. Below Deck Med renewal wasn't announced until a month after its season finale ended and we still have another episode.

Ratings are strong so cancellation makes zero sense.

I wonder what phrase would be the equivalent of "hit the wall/jumped the shark" in Below Deck vernacular?

  • Dove overboard
  • Burned the sheets
  • Let the pool float away
  • Set the kitchen on fire
  • Dean Slover
  • Rocky Dakota

I think Kate might be the exception to that rule.  I think her face is always bitchy.  Resting or not.

When she was following Sierra around the boat with the string and zip ties, Sierra, clearly feeling harassed, told her not to take it too far.

That scene made what Ro said in the police report, plausible.  Kate seems like the type to keep pushing and pushing - waiting. and wanting, for you to snap.
