joelene November 13, 2016 Share November 13, 2016 Another episode I'll skip. I like Rosamund, but the rest... Nope. This really sticks out as a male heavy season. Link to comment
MissLucas November 13, 2016 Share November 13, 2016 I would not skip it. Rosamund Pike was actually great and very funny. The best guest on the sofa and I'm really interested in her new movie - it sounds like such a fantastic story that was completely new too me despite being an avid reader of Mma Ramotswe's adventures who more than once quotes Seretse Khama *hangs head in shame* 3 Link to comment
Athena November 13, 2016 Author Share November 13, 2016 Indeed, Rosamund was the best guest and generally lovely. I liked her story about Dame Judi Dench and her impression of Judi: "Oh Rozie. Kitchens!" 5 Link to comment

kat165 November 20, 2016 Share November 20, 2016 I know who Chris Martin is, but I've never seen him interviewed, was never interested in seeing him interviewed & I don't listen to his music. (Knowing he was married to Gwenyth Paltrow I expected him to be a giant ass), I never heard of Michael McIntyre or that actress and could give a shit about Andrew Lloyd Webber. And yet, it was one of the best couches I've seen in awhile. The guests got a long great, like they all knew each other beforehand. I really enjoyed the cameraderie and Chris Martin was quite likeable. They all were likeable. And even the song didn't suck too badly. I usually mute the musical guest performance. But no red chair and that was a bummer. I love the red chair. They could have left Webber out and had the chair. Joelene, I agree with Miss Lucas. It's worth watching. 3 Link to comment

Michael McIntyre was also on the show when Brandon Flowers sang "I Can Change." He seems a huge music fan in general. 10 hours ago, kat165 said: But no red chair and that was a bummer. Either way, no bueno. 2 Link to comment
attica November 20, 2016 Share November 20, 2016 I honestly have to give props to Chris Martin and his quip to Webber about where they'd previously met: "On Tinder." During a trip abroad, I happened to see a McIntyre stand-up special on teevee (it was playing on the only English-language station, so: slim pickings.) I came away thinking he's a Yoooooge douche. His presences on the couch didn't really come across that way, so I was relieved not to have to ff through his bits. I would have liked to be at a rave with a pregnant-out-to-there Pike. I bet it was fun! Link to comment
theatremouse November 21, 2016 Share November 21, 2016 I was surprised at how funny Chris Martin was. Not that he was totally hilarious or anything, but I've seen him on a few other chat shows and he'd previously seemed a bit...flat? Not dull per se, but sort of awkward-not-quite-knowing-what-to-do-with-himself-ish? So I was pleasantly surprised in this one. Still, the Dench impression was the highlight. 2 Link to comment

When they showed the photo of the actors with the current President betw them, I had a big ah-ha moment as I recalled all the mentions of the portrait of the old President (whom David Oyelowo portrays) that her father had, and her also mentioning the current President. When I read who the guests were, I wasn't too interested, but it turned out to be a lot of fun. Everyone got along so well, joking back and forth. Even Webber didn't annoy me like he did before. Has he lost weight? He looks too skinny. 1 Link to comment
theatremouse November 22, 2016 Share November 22, 2016 I know that this is wrong, but hopefully it's maybe a compliment? But the first thing I ever saw Rosamund Pike in was Gone Girl and apparently she was extremely convincing because now I have an instant reflect whenever I see her along the lines of "don't trust her! Ack!" Even though I know obviously, she is totally separate from her roles, and hell it wasn't even her normal speaking voice in that movie. But I'm sort of permanently spooked. Even during her lovely anecdotes on the show, and her fabulous Dench impression, I still felt unease just looking at her. Link to comment
attica November 22, 2016 Share November 22, 2016 She's really good in the Carey Mulligan movie An Education, making a stock 'side-piece' character really funny and touching. Plus, of course, she's the ne plus ultra Jane Bennett in the Knightley verzh of Pride and Prejudice. You know, if you need a Gone Girl palate cleanser. 1 Link to comment
theatremouse November 23, 2016 Share November 23, 2016 I've seen her in several other things since, but I can't seem to shake the feeling. Link to comment
