I think Steve/Cath will get married. The whole thing with Lynn definitely didn't go the way Lenkov thought it would. He's run out of ideas and this is probably the last season. Plus part of me has always thought that Steve/Cath would be endgame but he did a horrible job of making it a dramatic love story.  It's too bad that he got so caught up in soap opera type drama for this show because it used to be a good action show for Friday nights.

Jimmy Buffett's recurring character, Frank Bama (seen at least twice before, when Steve needed rescuing from North Korea [Ep 210] & when Steve & Cath needed to go into North Korea to get his SEAL teammate, Freddie Hart,'s repatriated remains [Ep 420--& I just realized the irony of Jimmy Buffett being in Ep 420...LOL]),will be returning this season.

He should be in Ep 713 (or whatever's #156 overall for the show). Lenkov said, in 1 of the "Ep 150" interviews I linked to in the Media thread they're shooting overall series Ep 156 right now, & this is 1 of 3 pics I've seen of Jimmy Buffett at the studio or on set today, when they're filming that ep. When I find the other 2 pics (Jimmy's in costume, in a US Army camo shirt, in them), I'll post those links.

Yay!  The folks doing the casting on H50 really do a great job with these side and recurring characters.  Jimmy Buffet as the hippie yet scarily-efficient chopper pilot was particularly brilliant.  I can't wait to see Frank Bama and Lou Grover together...

I think Lou & Frank have already had at least 1 scene together--but there's always room for more scenes together. I wasn't sure, when I originally posted, how many eps JB had been in, so I put what I remembered: Eps 210 & 420--the S2 ep involved Frank helping the team get a kidnapped Steve out of North Korea & Wo Fat's clutches, & the S4 ep involved Frank helping Steve & Catherine get back the real remains of Steve's SEAL team member & then-BFF, Freddie Hart, who was killed during an op involving the Hesse brothers in North Korea.

So... I just went & Googled the Frank Bama character & the show. It turns out Frank was also in Ep 518. That's the ep where Danny & Chin were both jailed--Danny in Colombia & Chin in Hawaii--for their involvement with (& killing of) Marco Reyes, the guy Danny's idiot brother, Matt, was laundering money for, stole money from, & was eventually killed by.

I forgot the team enlisted Frank's help to get Danny out of the Colombian prison (as I remember, Chin was released from jail in Hawaii after Gabriel killed IA Investigator Coughlin, who had it in for Chin as far back as when he was suspected of stealing from the HPD Asset Forfeiture Locker; since Gabriel killed Coughlin, there was no case against Chin & he had to be released from custody). Now that I remember Frank was in that ep, which was after Grover joined Five-0, I seem to remember Grover snarking the chopper Frank had acquired since S4--when the chopper in S2 got destroyed by some weird buzzards. The S5 chopper, as I remember, was perhaps newer but no less dilapidated than the chopper used in S2 to rescue Steve. If Grover didn't snark Frank's chopper, there was something else that was snarked between them.

I also read something on Social Media about Terry O'Quinn also being on set recently. But I don't know if he's in the same ep as Jimmy Buffett. As pretty much all of us know though, Terry's character, Joe White, is the guy who introduced Frank to the team/enlisted his help in rescuing Steve in the first place.

Claire Forlani's character, former FBI Profiler Alicia Brown, will be returning in a February episode. Elisabeth Röhm's serial killer character, Dr. Madison Gray, will also be returning before the end of the season--it sounds to me like they return in the same ep, but it's also not necessarily clear that they do.

Now that's good news! Maybe Claire Forlani will return first, to set up the story again, saying she's been tracking the serial killer, and then they'll both (Forlani and Elisabeth Rohm) appear again later in the season. Either way, I'm here for it.

According to Entertainment Weekly, there will be a MacGyver/H50 crossover, which is scheduled to air on March 10th. It sounds a little confusing as to whether it'll be 2 parts &/or characters from each show will crossover to the other show (like the H50/NCIS LA crossover back in H50 S2), or if it's just 1 ep & only 1 set of characters actually crosses over to the other show; but it says there will be filming in both Atlanta (where they film MacGyver) & H50's home base of Honolulu. I'm thinking the story involves both shows, but only characters from 1 show are in both eps. The article says the characters involved are Mac & Jack from MacGyver & Chin, Kono, & Kamekona from H50, & that Mac & Jack go to Hawaii to work on a case (the plot of which is in the linked article) with Chin & Kono.

Whether or not Kono/Grace Park will return to the show for S8 (after the S7 finale cliffhanger where she left the team to go to Carson City, NV in pursuit of another part of the sex trafficking ring involving teenage girls which Five-0 dealt with in Honolulu in 2 S7 eps), &/or what her status in the cast will be then (regular, recurring, etc.) appears to be a creative type situation, as opposed to 1 of Grace Park being tired of playing Kono after 7 seasons & wanting to move on. At least that's the way I interpreted the comments about the situation in the 4th Q&A from the top of the new Spoiler Room column from Entertainment Weekly/EW.com.

http://ew.com/tv/2017/06/16/spoiler-room-riverdale-originals-htgawm/amp/

Having said that, about 10 days ago casting information came out saying the show was looking to cast a new female regular (& keep in mind, for what it's worth, that "regular" cast members on this show don't necessarily appear in every episode in a season) who might also become a new member of Five-0. That info is/should be in the 3rd Q&A from the top of this linked article.

Damn... I thought maybe we'd lose Grace P., but I wasn't counting on DDK--either with or without Grace P. leaving. They will both definitely be missed. And so will Ian Anthony Dale, whom we presumably won't see again now since he plays/played Kono's husband, Adam. It is, however, original show canon that neither Chin or Kono were still in the cast by the time of the last season (for that matter, neither was Danny... just saying... but at least DDK said on social media, after S8 was announced, that both Alex & Scott are coming back for S8... & I'm assuming Chi McBride's Grover is too, unless they're doing some sort of massive creative overhaul for S8; otherwise Five-0 will be pretty damned short handed this coming season) but we also don't know if this is the last season or not.

And most people said, if any of the original cast was gonna leave before the end of the show it would probably be Scott Caan, because of the negative attitude he expressed/was quoted as expressing towards Hawaii at the beginning of the show. Just goes to show you, I guess...

I wonder if they'll kill off Chin Ho, since that's what happened in the original.  I was actually expecting they would kill the character in S8.

i guess we'll see, but I'm more bummed by DDK, than by GP leaving.

Hopefully they'll just have him accept the San Francisco task force offer, & have him (& Sara & Abby) move there offscreen with no blood shed.

So it looks like the team next season will be Steve, Danny, Grover, Jerry (I forgot he was made a team member last season, though I think he deserved it), & a new girl they apparently still haven't cast yet.

Daniel Dae Kim, Grace Park Exit ‘Hawaii Five-0’

In any case all three Asian series regulars on the show are now gone. Given the show's setting I'd hope that any new additions are diverse ones.

When I heard I could only think of Jayne in Firefly making his point by trying  to calculate out the percentage of nothing

I expected GP to go because her home & career are based out of Vancouver, and a seven year commute with a marriage and a baby ain't easy.  DDK kind of hurts, but they did open a door for an exit, so maybe they won't kill him off.  The reason is not a bad one: parity with AO & SC, but if CBS doesn't want to spend that for one year, then that is it.  (It's also the kind of ask you make if you don't mind getting turned down - GP will certainly find work and DDK appears to do a lot of things in a lot of places.)

I'm glad they have made it to eight years, I'm glad SC is still on, and I sort of hope that 8 is it....

Grace Park should have a movie coming out that she filmed during the season titled Public Schooled and DDK will be an EP on a ABC show that got picked up for next season.

Was this in the works during the season? Because it's kind of suspicious otherwise that both characters were already set up to leave. Chin can go run the San Francisco task force and Kono's already charged off to be a one woman crusade against human trafficking.

Eh, I'll wait and see how it turns out before abandoning the whole show. I do expect it will be the last season. CBS has S.W.A.T. cued up to take over the nostalgia, action adventure, police procedural slot.

Grace P's departure may have been in the works during the season. There were supposedly hints she may not return at least on her last day of S7 shooting but nothing apparently seemed definite.

As for DDK, this seemed to really come out of the blue. He told TV Guide after a show his company's executive producing (The Good Doctor, starring Bates Motel's Freddie Highmore) made ABC's fall schedule that having that new responsibility plus continuing to play Chin on H50 simultaneously wasn't going to be an issue--he could do both & he planned to. I linked that article in the Media thread; DDK makes the comment towards the end.

Since this was the S7 finale, all the main contracts were up for renegotiation. I don't know when AOL and Scott Caan renewed their contracts (before the finale, I assume, which would explain their "set" fates), but this is standard practice. Leaving an "out" in case negotiations don't work out. This season on Criminal Minds a lot of contracts were up, so the finale was a huge cliffhanger in which most of the characters were in mortal danger (all except Garcia, but funny enough that actress almost didn't renew either, for reasons similar to DDK and GP). CBS wanted to have an out. They do that a lot. On Criminal Minds, only one actor was ultimately let go, and even though he was black, I actually believe that happened for creative reasons, not because of his race. That show has a core cast of 8, so it made sense to get rid of the newest addition who never really caught on. Plus they brought in Daniel Henney to replace him, so as of now Criminal Minds has more lead Asian actors than Hawaii Five-0. Namely, one.

And Daniel Henney played Adam's brother, ex-con/Yakuza head Michael Noshimuri, on H50. On CM he's playing the same character he played on the most recent CM spinoff, which ran for 2 seasons & got cancelled at the end of this 1.

Yeah as really Steve has lost all respect for me. Due to the fact of him not respecting others. And do not care about whether it had to do with his upbringing or being in the military. As really he showed the lack of respect for others, in particular Danny his partner.

Claire Forlani is returning this season, presumably as her previously established character, former FBI profiler Alicia Brown. She Tweeted about being in Hawaii & heading for work on the show. She's apparently in the episode they're filming right now, as Ep 804. Whether it actually airs as Ep 804, or not, is another matter entirely. They like to air the eps out of production order sometimes, so this might not actually be the fourth ep aired this coming season.

I was glad to hear Chin Ho is now running 5-0 San Fran. Kono is apparently working with some other task force bringing down sex traffickers. I am almost certain we will see both of them again towards the finale.

They had about as bad a break up with management as possible. Perhaps they might be allowed to guest on another NCIS episode but I doubt if you ever see either character again.

1 of the sneak peeks of this week's ep

It's a scene involving Junior (who's been staying with Steve), Eddie the dog, & Danny. Junior's trying to clean up a bathroom type mess he wasn't fast enough to avert on Steve's carpet. Danny knocks on the door, wearing a rubber type mask you pull on over your head attempting to scare Steve. Only, according to Junior, Steve's off on the North Shore escorting Dr. Brown (Alicia, the recurring character ex-FBI profiler) to the courthouse. So, then Junior says something about he heard about Danny's fall (Scott's too?).

Danny proceeds to tell Junior, basically, that he got hurt falling off a "cheap" (as in defective) ladder, at the restaurant, because Steve was too cheap to buy a better (as in, at least hopefully, safer) ladder.

So at least now we know how Danny's supposed to have hurt his arm in the show. But we still don't know if that's also how Scott hurt his arm (the falling off a ladder part). I've tried Googling for info, to no avail. The only injury of Scott's that I can find anything about is the BJJ-related knee injury during early S1 which required Scott to have surgery for real, & also required Danny to use a cane & not do anything really strenuous for a few eps while Scott was recovering from the real life surgery.

However Scott hurt his arm, I feel for him, wearing that dynamic splint. When used properly, those suckers hurt!

Thankfully, I think he might be out of it now (so maybe he didn't have to wear it all that long; just long enough to make things interesting at work for a bit--kind of like the cane in S1). At least I think Scott hasn't been wearing the splint/brace in the most recent BTS pics I've seen.

I was talking to 1 of my best friends last night, who also likes the show, about Scott's/Danny's arm injury. She pointed out that the explanation Danny gave Junior for his Injured arm MIGHT have been what actually happened to Scott--he hurt it falling off a ladder. Or maybe he was being klutzy & tripped over something. Both sound plausible to me, so I'm just putting it out there. And then again, he could've hurt it doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, like he hurt his knee in S1 (although that was actually publicized, probably because they had to make Danny injured in character).

I'm surprised that this injury wasn't just as publicized as the knee injury, given that they had to write it into the show, again, so Danny was injured too. Maybe Scott just didn't want it publicized like his knee injury, in general, or maybe he didn't want this injury publicized because Scott injured the arm in an embarrassing way, to him, like falling off a ladder or being a klutz might be; at least in comparison to hurting his knee doing BJJ. I don't know. Again, just throwing that out there.

Any chance for a McGarrett and Catherine romantic reunion on Hawaii Five-0? — Harley

It sounds like Catherine’s return is more about the two realizing they’re better friends than anything. “I think it’s an important closure episode for those guys,” Alex O’Loughlin tells me. “They’re both sussing out how they feel, what happened, why it happened the way it did. There’s a couple of moments that highlight why it’s not necessarily McGarrett’s No. 1 relationship that he’s going to stay with. There are a few little differences that get highlighted, but there’s a lot of similarities as well.” Alas, O’Loughlin is not sure these two are endgame. “There’s so much water under the bridge and so much back and forth, and I feel like that, in real life, with that amount of tumultuous and emotional movement, it’s rare for something to work,” he says. “It’s often that you push something behind a certain point and you can hurt the friendship aspect of it as well. It feels like there’s a beautiful friendship there.”

Any word on if Danny will be in the 200th episode of Hawaii Five-0? He misses a few episodes each season, and I hope this isn’t one of them!

As showrunner Peter M. Lenkov shared on Twitter, yes, Scott Caan will be in the milestone episode. Which is a good thing, since….

Any news on Hawaii Five-0‘s Steve/Danny to share with us?

In Episode 200, McDanno’s restaurant “is going to have a soft open,” Lenkov told me at Comic-Con (where he was promoting CBS’ Magnum P.I. reboot). And that in turn will lead to “a big turning point with regards to their future and the restaurant.” Bonus scoop: Already looking ahead to Five-0’s midseason finale, Lenkov reveals, “We’re doing a big sort of Expendables episode,” in the vein of the action franchise that teams up Stallone, Schwarzenegger et al. “We’re bringing back a lot of people that over the years have helped us.”

Will Eddie the Dog be in more episodes of Hawaii Five-0?

Ausiello: Not only is Eddie back for Season 9 — which will celebrate the franchise’s 50th anniversary by redoing the original Five-0‘s September 1968 pilot — but “we get to know his backstory” in a –centric episode, Peter M. Lenkov told us.

Looks like Catherine is going to be back for the finale. She is going to be uncredited though so as not to give away spoilers for the finale episode. Here's the call sheet(can't believe they spelled her name wrong!) I knew that they would be endgame. It's a crap endgame but it's not surprising.

Just because Catherine’s in it, doesn’t mean they’re end game.  John McGarrett And WoFat are also in it, so she could be in a flashback type scene.

Personally I ways thought Danny &=Rachel were more inclined to be endgame.

When all of the other love interests for Steve fizzled and they decided this was the last season, I knew Catherine had to be endgame. I didn't believe they would send Steve off alone into the sunset. He's talked about wanting to settle down and have kids. With Joe dying and Doris dying like she did, I figured Steve was really thinking about lost time. And Catherine will likely have looked at Doris' ending as where she was heading with her current career path.

If Catherine and Steve leave together at this point, it makes sense to me. And since I like Catherine, I'll be happy.
