The lady whose party trick was getting her boobs out at parties? Well damn. 😂

Well...at least she seems to be a lot more fun than that old stick in the mud, Carrie.

Remember how she cock-blocked Charlotte from getting some action when Char finally decided to let loose, put on her best trampwear, and enjoy Atlantic City...and on her BIRTHDAY no less. So yeah she sucks!

The Atlantic City episode always reminds me of the jerk who was mean to Miranda after she had given birth.

“What’s your excuse you having twins”

while I was glad the rude asshole got a smack down. I hated Carrie got to do it and everyone laughed at her hilarious comeback.

Teaser trailer ALREADY????????  How is this happening?!

That's just some stock footage of NYC, a bit of typing, plus a one-sentence voice-over by SJP. Not much of a teaser if you ask me. They must be really desperate for buzz to start putting out "teasers" before anything has been filmed.

Well then.
since Kim has made it clear she has no interest in returning, I wonder if they will have Samantha succumb to cancer. I just hope there’s some meta joke on how Carrie laments that the Manolo Blahnik store is no longer there and instead it’s shoes by some celebutante she had a bad run in with. (In real life, it’s the new home of Sarah Jessica Parker’s shoe brand.)

There are possibilities of stories of being the hip women of the day only being pushed out of the social influencers of the world and say, Carrie loses her writing job at a magazine/newspaper and works for an online gossip blog instead.  But it’s in this weird vortex of trying to fix the mistakes of the second movie.  And that’s a lot to fix.

I’d be surprised if they were to kill both Big and Samantha. I feel they’d likely split Steve and Miranda. They ruined them in the first movie anyway.

I agree, it would be stupid to kill Big now.  Though, I always thought it was stupid.  Maybe a health scare, ok, but after Samantha gone it's literally overkill.

Samantha doesn't have to die.  She could just live in LA and not see them.  It makes the most sense for Samantha and Smith's careers.

I don't know if this is still the case as I no longer watch, but I do know that David Eigenberg [Steve] had been on Chicago Fire since the show began in 2012. And Chris Noth [Mr. Big] now has a role on the upcoming reboot of The Equalizer with Queen Latifah, which is set to debut right after the Super Bowl on CBS.

So, if both are busy here, I could see both Steve and Big not around for whatever reason or they could become like Maris on Frasier and/or Vera on Cheers, referred to, but never seen. But considering this show where relationships are so vital, I doubt that premise would work here. Makes me wonder - depending on those shows and schedules - if this reboot will pull a Bewitched and recast the role(s). While that is more a daytime soaps thing, it did indeed work for Bewitched as well as Roseanne with the rotating Beckys.

Ditto. I watch SATC for the feel-good factor. I'd rather not have any beloved characters killed off. Samantha living in LA is a wonderful idea.

I really hope Samantha does not die...I want her to be happy even if she is not on the show.

In all honesty, Big and Carrie should be divorced. That are both too self involved to make any marriage work long term.

They could show Carrie getting a nice little payout from her prenup and starting  a blog/vlog series about NYC

SJP was on a show called Divorce w/ Thomas Hayden Church. It lasted for two seasons. It was very much like watching an older divorced Carrie with kids. She even moves from the suburbs to the city.

Of course, it ended with a handsome incredibly rich man starting to fall in love with her. 😏

More likely contracts would be renegotiated so they can appear on this in a limited capacity. Mark Paul Gosselaar is a series regular on Mixed-ish but was allowed to appear on the Saved By The Bell reboot for 3 episodes as per his contract.

It just won't be the same without Kim Cattrall/Samantha.  The main draw (for me anyways) was the friendship between the four women.

Miranda's son Brady would be 19/20 right? And Charlotte's girls would be 16 and 12 right? So Brady would probably be off to college but Lily and Rose would still be at home.  And Charlotte would be a devoted mother so she would be involved with whatever their activities are.   Miranda would presumably still be the main breadwinner so she would have a job. And Carrie would be............Still writing books?  But knowing SJP I will expect her to have Carrie still be the Carrie of 20 years ago.

When Candace Bushnell wrote her latest book that is exactly what she did. She wrote about how her and friends had to adjust to no longer being the young hot things they once were.

And they want to start filming in late spring. When the pandemic will still be happening.  That might limit where they can film.

My fear is the limited series will just be a showcase for fab clothes.

In S2 they started pulling away from her version of Carrie and creating their own. I wish they would’ve kept some of CB’s Carrie in.

I was thinking the other day how Samantha not being in this limited series might be a chance to show that not all your friendships last for the rest of your life.

Samantha would probably be leading a very different life compared to rest, two have children, and all three are married.

It is not unusual for people to get into different friend groups once they are settled down. I can imagine Samantha just wanting to do her own thing.

I doubt if the show would explore something that is this real.

There were small touches of it thrown in here and there. Lanie/Baby shower moved to the suburbs, Amalita floated in and out of her life. But they never really went there.

From what we’ve been shown of their friendship over the years, I can’t see Sam just off doing her own thing, not keeping in touch. For most friendships, losing touch due to different life responsibilities is a normal part of life but I really can’t see Sam bowing out of their lives. So how they manage to maneuver this will be interesting, heartbreaking or annoying.

In the final season Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha all moved on and had different lives than when they first became friends. It was Carrie who felt like she wasn't moving on hence her desire to go to Paris with Alek.

I could see Samantha making tons of money and retiring to someplace fabulous.  Who knows? Maybe Smith would have went with her.

SATC ended its original run in 2004, so it's been about 20 years.

The movies came out over 10 years ago?

These characters would presumably be retired by now or very close to it.  If they were going to marry and have families, it would have been done by now, the kids left the nest?

The 3 of them are reportedly getting $1 million each an episode so very good opportunity for older actresses.

As much as I loved her character, I 100% respect Kim's decision. She's in her 60s and has been in the business for over 40 years; she's earned the privilege to walk away from projects that no longer interest her, especially ones that seem like they have a toxic work environment. To quote the main character from Billions, "what's the point of having fuck-you money if you never say fuck you?"

I was watching an old episode of VH1's I Love The '80s on YT, profiling 1980, and one of the movies being commented upon was Porky's, and it was mentioned that Kim Cattrall had a role. Had no idea she was in that one...

Yes, she played an oversexed gym teacher they referred to as "Lassie."  The movie makes clear why, and it's basically like she's playing a young Samantha.

They did mention the nickname, and showed a clip of another coach/teacher howling like a dog when describing her! Just blanked on "Lassie". And did show her character going at it and why she got said nickname. Her hair in the clip was long and looked darker, so I had no idea it was her 'til it was mentioned!

Wow! I respect Kim's decision, but that is a TON of money. I've worked with some extremely nasty people in my life, and I don't think any of them would get in the way of me making 10 million dollars. Only way I'd turn that down is if I had to work with someone who could be dangerous or I had hundreds of millions of dollars already.

I've heard of Porky's but never saw it. I googled it, and Kim was so pretty. She's a beautiful blonde now, but she was also beautiful young brunette.

Eh, Charlotte's kids would be 15(?) and 12.  I think Brady would be 17 or 18.  Aside from Samantha who would be in her early 60s, I think the other women would be in their mid-50s.

Enjoy, and yes, this could essentially be her audition for Sex and the City:

After the shambles that was that the second movie (and first if I’m honest) I don’t blame Kim for walking away. The writing for Samatha was toxic and appalling. I only imagine a third movie would have further degraded her.

Sex and the City is a prime example of having too much of a good thing. I thought the series had arguably one of the best endings and both movies have continuously picked the ending apart. I really just wish they’d be done with it.

I don't think the writers were interested in writing a good story for Samantha.  Or maybe they just didn't know how.  The show went from being about four single women to the movies being  three women coupled and one single woman.  I don't know why they couldn't either make Samantha have a functional happy relationship with Smith or someone else or have her be happily single.    In the series I never thought Samantha was slutty. I thought she was a single woman who enjoyed having sex.  She wasn't sleeping with multiple men to fill some emotional hole and needing validation.  She was confident in who she was and owned everything she did.  But the movies Samantha was not that Samantha and I think Kim Cattrall knew this new version wouldn't be either.

Will I watch the new show?  Probably? Will I like it?  Doubtful.

Wasn’t there an issue surrounding one of the movies too where Kim said she cared about the quality of the work, had to fight for the character?

It seemed like she only did that awful second movie due to a nice pay check and public demand. She knows the fans love her.

I'm not excited about the return.  I'll check it out for sure but I'm not optimistic.  I've repeatedly heard the show now referred to as "tone deaf" when put in the context of today's times.  I'm assuming they will want to update it somehow to make it current and fitting for the issues of today.  But once you shift the whole nature of a story, it no longer is what it once was.  And at that point I say, why not just create a whole new show and leave the old one untouched?  You can't resent the show for having been a representation of a different time.  I wish they would have just left it alone.

I'm on the fence about whether I'll watch it. Carrie made me nuts in the series because she was so damn self absorbed and clueless, plus she was treated like this rare and magical unicorn, and that got tiresome. And the movies - don't get me started. I didn't like the first one and downright hated the second one.

Based on the movies, I fear we're going to be in for a lot of bad, stereotypical menopause action - hot flashes, vaginal dryness, changes in libido - and I'm sure there's going to be at least one male on viagra. And if I'm right, well then meh.

Obviously, things are vastly, vastly different since the series went off the air; even ten years after the last movie, things are significantly different. I don't have confidence that the writers can navigate the challenge of putting something together that is realistic/relatable, timely and fun to watch. All of the women, except for Samantha, got on my nerves periodically and I don't know how I feel about the potential of three entitled white women sitting around pissing and moaning how hard their lives are. It doesn't seem like a good time for that kind of show, and based on the show and the movies' track records, I have a hard time believing they'll be able to come up with something different that is able to meet the moment. Don't get me wrong - I can really enjoy some good escapist fun (Schitt's Creek, for example), but based on the way the show and films went, it runs a huge risk of being tone deaf at best and offensive at worst.

All that said, I'm curious about what they put together. I figure I'll keep an eye on the forums - I'm trying to stay away from shows I don't really like because I'm trying to avoid falling down the hate-watch rabbit hole.

Now there's lots of talk about Jennifer Coolidge actually playing Samantha.  Just, no.   (She also says "no way"). Seriously, people.  How hard is it to have a throw away line "I had a great Zoom with Samantha last night. She sends her love."   Either carry on with the 3 women or bring in a 4th woman - perhaps even with some connection to Samantha - but to simply have some one else play the character is insulting to the actors and the viewers.

Ditto. There is only one Samantha Jones. I think three lead characters who all have partners (or romantic drama), and two out of the three having children is plenty enough people to carry a movie just fine. I'm not opposed to a fourth woman, but I agree that she'd have play someone other than Samantha.

Oh hell no.  If that was even briefly something that crossed their minds they should be ashamed of themselves.  As I said before they have seriously underestimated how much viewers liked Samantha and Kim. If they are trying to recreate the original series and the appeal of those four main characters they need to rethink that.  Those characters are a lot older and the world is a lot different.   If the writers can't take the characters into this new decade then they need to just not try at all.

It's going to be interesting to see how they navigate this in today's world. The world has changed so much since the show went off the air -- even the first movie seemed out of touch (although fun), and the second was just appalling. As mentioned above; the show will focus on three, wealthy white women, nobody's going to be interested in watching them moan about how hard their life is. They tried to be relatable in the second movie and that resulted in wealthy Charlotte, who had a full time nanny despite not working outside the home, complain about how hard it is to be a mother.

Personally I wouldn't mind if they reveal Carrie and Big are divorced and focus on a 50 something Carrie entering the dating scene post-divorce. I never liked Big so I wouldn't miss him and I seriously doubt would last anyway.

It does seem like for a 10-episode series at least one of the women needs to be single. Maybe that's where the talk of recasting Samantha (no) or bringing in a new character to fill out the foursome came in. But I think it will end up being Carrie.

Nice ideas.  A separation would be totally realistic for them, would be logical coming off the themes of the second movie, and possibly interesting.

They talk about how the women almost constantly mock, judge, and slut shame Samantha.

They also talk about many other problematic things about the show like how they gave Carrie a romantic fairy tale ending but the show always mocks Charlotte for wanting the same.
