Why are they on this show when they refused to do the reunion?  Need the money, I guess.  I could never figure out if I liked Daya or not.  Was she the one who thought her ring was fake or am I confusing her with someone else?

I thought they did the reunion?  Daya is the one who thought her ring was fake.  And Brett lived with his older female coworkers.  So odd.

Brett's mother did not refuse to attend the wedding; she was "disinvited".  Brett's mom saw how nasty she was to her son and voiced her concern. When Daya caught wind of it, she accused the mother of plotting against her and gave Brett an ultimatum, "your mother or me."  The idiot chose a woman he'd known for less than six months over a woman he'd known all his life.  I hope she makes his life miserable.

I've hear through the grapevine that Daya has very expensive tastes, that wasn't just for the show. She demands, and receives, very nice clothing and things.

I may hallucinating this, but was she the one who said she had a good life with servants back in the Philippines?  I may be confusing her with someone else.  On the snarky side, I don't think she'd look that fabulous no matter how expensive her clothes were.  She was built like a potato.

From what I understand, a lot of people have servants in the Philippines. You can "live like a king" there for $20 a day, according to a Filipina door keeper at my old condo.

Until recently you graduated school at 16 those young not going on to college first job is often working as a nanny senior aid to an extended family member. If you have enough money to own a car you probably have some kind of domestic helper. If I remember correctly either Daya or a parent was a OFW, a foriegn worker, sending back money from one of the Arab Gulf states.

I don't understand why Daya was sitting on the couch with her knees tucked up under her chin and her dress pulled over her like a tent!  Not the  most appropriate attire to converse with and try to mend fences with one's mother-in-law.

It's probably her " hiding and protecting " herself from the mother in law

Wow, I really disliked Daya after watching this episode.  She looked like a greedy, hump-backed troll.  At least she got Brett to fall for her plan to stay away from her by making him buy a house that forces him to work 10-hour days and weekends.  Smart little toad.

Daya or someone in her family was an Overseas Filipino Worker who was living/working as a domestic aid in an Arab Gulf state?

Wow, I definitely missed that (to be fair, I miss a lot, because I'm usually doing 90 other things, focusing on a tv show is too much still time).

Brett creeps me out. He's not good looking at all...all I can think of is he looks like mean brother Chet from Weird Science after he got turned into a pile of doggie doo. I shouldn't snark on anyone's unfortunate appearance; you only can do so much with what you're given.

Brett's Mom is a Piece of Work.  Brett and Daya seem to be a good match.  They explained the "misunderstandings" from the first season (flowers at the airport, ring, etc) -- I believed them.  If Brett (and Daya) decided to buy a house that is $40,000 more than they wanted to spend -- so what?  People do that all the time.  He's willing to work for it and there must be a ton of reasons why that house was a good fit for them....location?  Safety?  Size? Whatever....his Mom is SO JUDGEY on everything.  LOVED LOVED LOVED that she sat there, as still and quiet as she could be, when the Step-Dad started in talking smack about Brett once Brett and Daya left the dinner.  HEH.  She's all Big Talk to Brett but shuts it when the Hubby is around.

I really enjoyed the moment when Brett and Daya stood up and his mom and step-dad seemed genuinely shocked that they were leaving.  They (mom and step-dad) both seem like assholes. I can see why Brett doesn't want to be around his step-dad.  I know its coached by the producers, but I think there were some real family dynamics on display in that scene.

Well, I've since learned that was the real Daya. She expects expensive purses and shoes. Anfisa Sr.

IIRC Brett said, " I have learned that when Daya says she wants something, you get her exactly what she wants."

Anfisa Sr. for sure.

Was it prettier or the florist convention of the proper type for the occasion?

Middle class Filipinos tend to be very, very brand conscious in my experience. It might have to do with the amount of counterfeit products on the streets of their cities.

She wanted roses, specifically.  And he brought a bouquet without roses.

The 'explanation "was, get her what she wants, OR ELSE.

But to the point of threatening to hop back on a plane if it's not perfectly right? She stuck it out this far, spoiled maybe, but Daya is in for the long run, the house, the kids and all, at least that's my read of her. She could have done better in terms of partners, but, I see it this way.

Brett and Daya paid an extra 40k for their house. It's a house, it'll pay for itself eventually, when she wants kids and they fill it up. It,s an investment. They live in it every day, she fills it up with her middle class swag that Brett pays for her, whatever I don't judge.  I think Brett would drag the line (hopefully at least) and would not buy Daya a (I forgot how much it was) thousands of dollars Chanel purse.

Anfisa on the other hand, wanted the $45,000 dress just because she could. Just because it was the most expensive one. She threatened not to get on the plane when he would not buy her a purse Keeps on saying she will leave. 45k for a dress she will wear say, three times (the time she tries it on, after the alterations and on her wedding day). Admits plainly that she's playing Georges for the chump he is.

Daya to me seems pretty reasonable. I understood that she got her GC and now has a job (may be wrong, correct me please), she got no kids, no aspiration to be a model, or famous, sure, the TLC cash comes in handy then they just spent that extra money on the house, but she seems to me a lot more low maintenance than Anfisa. So what she spoils herself (and, gets Brett to spoil her a little on top).

But that's just my two cents.

IT JUST STuck out to me that she had flown 5 zillion hours and the first thing she says is "Oh why did you get me those".LOL. I dont know why but it makes me like her because its just so outrageous!

Yes, but if I recall, very soon after she got to the US, they moved into a house (rental I believe), so they could live alone, no? Wasn;t that just before they got Brett's daughter for a whole month?

Is Daya pregnant? In the scene when they are at the restaurant and she goes to sit her shirt ride up and I swear I saw a pregnant belly. Plus the way she was carrying her purse in front. It could explain why she sat like that when Brett's mom came over

She may be but I think Daya has always had a bit of a belly and I've seen her carry her bag like that before... perhaps self conscious .  As for how she was sitting, again I've noticed her do that before as well... she tends to slouch and lay about with poor posture. I always want to scold her and tell her to sit up straight.. at least when company is over.

I actually sit that way a lot on the couch and I am hiding nothing.  Its comfy.  Although I would sit like a normal person if company were in the house.

Exactly whatever you do in your privacy whatver is comfy for you thats all good but when guest like your mother in law comes maybe sit appropriately... Dont forget the mom in law was sitting on the floor(carpet)... i would let her do that and im on the couch like that... thats just really disrrespectful...

Also, in her talking head where she was alone on the couch, she had her knee up in a posture that covered her belly.

I can understand a mother's concern that their child is living beyond their means. You don't want to see them in debt and struggling. Brett's mom seems to think that every purchase they make is instigated by Daya's greed and high expectations. It doesn't feel like it comes from a good, concerned place in her heart. Instead, it's one more way to bash her son's wife. The jerk of a step-dad made it clear that negative re-enforcement is the family dynamic. They say blood is thicker than water, but sometimes you have to remove a clot before it kills you.

we havent seen that much of them, but I clearly recall Daya complaining about the ring and the flowers when she was off the plane for a few seconds--so Brett's Mom did not get a first impression, it makes me wonder what else has transpired.

Brett's mom's smiling face when she said the words BIG! WALK-IN! CLOSET! was beyond strange.

Were her exposed teeth supposed to cancel out the offensiveness of the "You're a golddigger!" assertion?

Insult with a smile; passive aggressive at its best.

Congrats to Bret and Daiya.  Her face looks very different since her thyroid disorder was treated. A dear friend of mine had a thyroid issue which kept her from getting pregnant. After receiving treatment, she got to realize her dream of being a mommie.
