When Siggy's son came home with his permit and was all "buy me a car" she said no and I applauded her. Then she ruined it by buying him a car. I do like the relationship she has with her ex. They get along and get together for the kids but both are remarried and live their own lives, not like Dolores who is still dependent on Frank.

I have a feeling the ex was behind the car, and she couldn't have won that battle if she wanted to, so she just went along with it. Josh and Sophie have both alluded to it being more "fun" at their dads, so I can see him being the one to buy a new car.

Did I hear correctly when Siggy said her father survived the Holocaust?  She said that his family got out of Germany (or Poland) and escaped the horrors of the camps, that is not surviving but lucky enough to escape, my friend's father survived the Holocaust, was in 3 different camps, lived the horrors.  There is  difference, maybe splitting hairs but Siggy seems to exaggerate to make for more drama.

Are we taking bets on fast her kid dents the brand new car? He seems like an okay kid but I have flash backs to my son getting a new used car at 17 and well, several cars later...he is 27 now and very careful with his own money/car.

Tre needs to work on her poker face, I thought she was going to faint just to get out of answering Kathy's lunch request.

Yes1 I mentioned earlier that I was scared he was going to crash it that night, with how excited he was. It's not uncommon for new drivers to wreck. That's why, IMO, you don't buy a top of the line luxury car as their first vehicle.

I’m just going to fill in some dialog in the Joe Go/Mel conversation.

Mel: “Why are we in the movie theater?”

Not said:  Because that’s where the cameras are set up.  When we are creating dramahz for the show, we need to make sure they get the best possible footage.  Besides, I’ll sit here.  You sit there.  They are getting our best sides.  Also, we get to casually point out that our house is so big we have a “movie theater.”

Joe: “I lost a big deal today.”

Not said: By “big deal” I mean nothing at all.  I am desperately pretending that I am still a sought after builder.  The market for McMansions is growing.  Everyone wants “marble tile” that crumbles in their hands, non-working fixtures and extremely tacky décor.  Plusses for rooms to big to heat properly and highly suspect plumbing.

Joe: “I couldn’t make the auction.”

Not said: I was bidding on “educational materials” (aka porn) online and someone outbid me while I was picking up the kids.  I haven’t figured out yet how to use the app on my phone.  It works best for people who have mastered opposable thumbs.

Mel: “What do you think I was doing?  Do you think I was at the nail salon?”

Not said:  I know you were standing outside waiting to make your big entrance so we could act out this meaningless boring contrived pivotal scene.

Mel: “You’re so old school.”  Joe: “I’m so old school?”

Not said:  We are repeating the words we’ve used approximately 1,000 times before and “acting” like we don’t know what they mean.  Sure, Joe has previously bragged about being “old school.”  Mel has fluttered about how she likes her “old school” man, but for this season’s story it is suddenly an insult.

Joe: “You bring in crumbs.  I bring in the cake.”

Not said: Your RHNJ salary far exceeds what I have ever “brought in.”  I build crappy spec houses hoping they sell.  You have sold the black holes that masquerade as our souls for a superior income.  The only cake Joe brings in is the Entemann’s from the pantry.

Joe: “I don’t want no help.”

Not said: I want to pretend we don’t already have people helping us.  No nannies.  No babysitters.  No family that jumps in.  No gardeners.  No assistants.  No stylists.  Then again, Joe’s use of the double negative for once makes him honest, since they do have help his “I don’t want no help” is accurate.  Removing the dueling negatives, Joe has told us “I do want help.”  If only that help was psychological counseling, anger management, general education, and acting classes, we could all benefit.

I did find it strange that Tre's kids seemed to love the heck out of Melissa (except for Gia) and ran to her for hugs and kisses and interacted with her whereas Tre never really showed much affection to Joe's kids.

I think Joey was close to Gia when she was the only child.  Then Melissa came along and Tre taught Gia to dislike Melissa.

Or Joe doted on Gia when she was the only child and then he got married and suddenly he was no longer doting on her and she felt hurt by it.

Melissa says Joe have to purchase a book so she can sign it….where do we do that?

She said this standing in a book store

To be fair, she might have meant "which section?" Which, considering it's a book about Teresa, could be classified under Humor or Fiction genres, as well as Biography :)

Why those idiot Walkies think everyone should be putting them first has me baffled. Theresa , who had been away from her kids for close to a year, didn't jump over to their house asap, as soon as she left prison,  seemed to piss them off.  Joe, who is going away for 3 years, doesn't come to a poker game, so there pissed off. They show up at Theresas signing and try to force a lunch (aka camera time) when she wants to spend every minute she isn't working with her hubby. So that pissses them off. Get over yourselves!! Your not important to her. Deal with it. I wouldn't  piss on Rosie if she was on fire after her screaming threats of "I'll rip her head off" Yeah, No.

And I am a perfectly intelligent woman who know big words and everything and I still like Theresa.

I feel bad for Kathy.  Agreed with the comments that she must have been banking on becoming a more permanent HW, and eeep, didn't happen.  They are so obviously going to be way over their heads with the new house.  Too bad, their old house was nice.  I see financial ruin in their future.

If Melissa wanted something for herself she should have just gone back to teaching.  She could be on a similar schedule to her kids, have the summer breaks and vacation weeks.  I know this is not glamorous and high-profile, like being a pop star, or a major player the fashion industry (cough cough), but it would allow her to still do all the mom/wife things her caveman wants, and be a legit career.  Too simple!

No, that's working class kind of work and she couldn't wear her stiletto heels.  Well she could, but she'd look ridiculous especially teaching kids on the elementary level. The days are long and you're going to get dirty. She can run around town looking like that with her own three, but when your in charge of 20-30 plus little ones that don't belong to you, you can't be focusing on your "look."

We also don't know if she took and passed the state testing, but she'd probably still be able to teach with a bachelors degree until she passed those exams.

Greeting people at the door is a social norm

But handing other children flowers when they come to your house is not.  He went to the door.  How about just prompting him to say "hi" if he doesn't volunteer it?  Neurotypical little kids also sometimes need to be told "say hi" and "why don't you take _____ to go see your new toy/game/puppy" etc.

I understand the emphasis they need to put on using his words, but it's the performance art aspect for the cameras that's unsettling.

Former teacher here; there is no way Melissa could teach and do the show.  Getting permission to film inside a school is (rightly) very difficult to obtain.  It is also exhausting! Melissa wouldn't have random free weekday hours to interact.  Finally, I don't know NJ licensing requirements, NYC requires a Master's degree, but with a certain amount proper credit and an undergrad degree, one can teach while obtaining the Master's.

In one of Andy's books he comments on getting a begging phone call from the husband of a housewife who was dropped.  The guy was distraught as he had left his job go focus on his wife's "career."  I think the Wakiles built a house of cards on the shaky foundation of RHONJ.

I rewatched this morning, and I felt even more irritated by them in that scene. Not only were they trying to take advantage of the fact that Tre had an audience (she'll be more likely to acquiesce in front of fans), but it was super rude to hold up the line like that. The first time Tre brushed off lunch that should have been it.

I've wondered that myself. I imagine she would have to go through getting her teaching certificate, but it wouldn't be that bad - and it certainly would be easier than trying to launch a singing career. Teaching is hard work, but she would have good benefits, stability, and she would have more time for her kids (since that's become a sticking point). And it's a career that she could keep up for as long as she wanted, because it wouldn't be reliant on her RHONJ fame. But, there's nothing "glamorous" about teaching.

I wish several of the women on this franchise realized that there's nothing shameful in going back to previous vocations if higher aspirations aren't working out. Like Kathy. I'm not Italian, don't live anywhere near Boston's North End, but it's not hard for me to find a cannoli. Is there any Italian confection more ubiquitous than that? Yet Kathy tried to hang her hat on mail-order cannoli kits and they built that monstrous house. I'd have more respect for someone like that who says "you know what? I know I can go back to cutting hair and now that the kids are out of the house, I've got the time to do that," rather than play out the Teresa feud for a living.

I honestly don' think she could hack a teaching job. And while you do have more time with your kids over the summer and holidays, it is one of the most INflexible jobs around.  You can't work through lunch and duck out an hour early because your kid has a doctor appointment.  I wonder if she ever had a real job teaching. Based on this, it looks like she's never actually had a job teaching. http://www.bustle.com/articles/174688-heres-what-melissa-gorga-was-up-to-before-real-housewives-of-new-jersey

I also believe all of this is BS, anyway, and about a storyline. What else do they have?

In the season with that bald headed dude...Stripper Gate

Melissa claimed she was never a stripper and that she was a school teacher. On an episode of WWHL she wanted to show Andy her paystubs from Lookers where she insists that she was a bartender. She NEVER produced paystubs from the school she was teaching.

This season, Melissa has said I married Joe right out of college and never was a teacher.

From her first season, Melissa has claimed an extreme closeness to her 2 sisters and her mom. I don't see why these 3 can't help to watch her kids while she goes to the boutique to work along side creepy dude who breathes with his mouth open. Wait....if they do this than we won't have scenes of Joe Gorga playing Mr Mom or Antonia trying to be Milania 2.0

Kathy Wakiles cannoli kit is not carried by Marianos

Nor are her Indulge gourmet coffees. I checked today while I was there shopping, and while Mariano's carries a very, very, very, wide variety of gourmet coffee brands, alas, Kathy Wakili's seems to have been dumped from the lineup.

Whew, I am not liking Siggy's son, for some reason. The kid always has this smart-ass look on his face. Although I do enjoy Siggy. On the other hand, Delores' son, even though he seems to be out of the house a lot, seems like a decent kid.

My dislike for Kathy knows no bounds. I'm really sick of her pretending like she wants to reconcile with Teresa, and I totally understand why Teresa just wants to blow her off. Rich is a vulgar little wanker, and the less I see of him the better. I don't feel sorry for them for building that hideous house. They should have known better. I don't understand why empty nesters would want a house that size to begin with, but if they wanted an upgrade, they could have remodeled their old house, or build something normal. I don't want to think about what it costs to heat and cool those houses, or the taxes you have to pay. What a waste of money.

Sign me up for not liking Siggys kid. What a spoiled, entitled brat. I'd give him a car alright. A Matchbox car. Brat.

I'd give him a cardboard box car, with the bottom cut out so he can use his feet ala Fred Flinstone.

I thought it was a sweet throwback to when Jac and Nick visited Teresa at the hospital when Audriana was born. Anyway, it was a flower not a rattlesnake, and Nick seemed cool with it all.

I will never understand why any of these women on any of these HW shows expose their children to this kind of scrutiny on national television. The children are innocent and unable to decide for themselves if they want to be on a TV show. To my mind, they're exploiting their children for monetary gain. That's indefensible to me. Shame on all of them, especially Jac. As much as she says they want to "raise awareness" about autism, what they do is shameless self promotion. Who doesn't know about autism at this point?!

Link to comment

I think there are many people who know nothing or very little about autism. I would bet there are some who have read of a child being treated poorly on a flight during/following a behavior, for example, and that's their exposure.

To be clear, I do not believe Jac should be a representative, spokeperson or anything similar for any "cause".

Would anybody even hire her? Like, great that she got her degree but that was a decade ago. She's done nothing but be a mom and reality star since then. It's quite possible schools wouldn't want the drama

I don't think her family lives near them. One of the sisters said, "if you moved closer you could do this with us. We do this every weekend" at the dinner. I'm assuming they live too far to do random pickups

That sounds more like Simon Van Kempen and Alex McCord from RHoNY.

I know Rich lost his lawsuit against Exxon, but I thought he owned more than one gas station and some rental property. I don't think they ever really relied on the Bravo paycheck except for their building their new house.

Exxon sued Richie, not the other way around and they won a judgement against him for $113,499.

Went back and watched again.

Kathy said "Every day is a gift. Today, Victoria fainted twice. This is not fair and all this other bullshit means nothing." Then Delores went on to narrate and said "Kathy is now dealing with Victoria because her daughter has had a brain tumor that came back and had to be removed again." The rest of the conversation was about their feud with Theresa

Victoria first had a brain tumor removed when she was ten. The second time, she had surgery in April of 2014 because it grew back. So now apparently in 2016 Victoria fainted two times on the day of filming and Kathy's mind isn't focused on Theresa it's on her daughter. Of course Kathy would be nervous and worried but then why even film?

I hate Kathy, but I wonder if they need some extra money coming in to pay for Victoria’s medical expenses.

Re: Mellissa going back to teaching. She said she graduated with a degree in education. I didn’t get the impression she ever worked on getting her credential. I know nothing about New Jersey Ed, but in California I think the credential process is at least another year of course work and student teaching. I really don’t see Melissa wanting to do that.

Plus I don’t think Melissa’s wants a job. I think she wants an investment and a publicity opportunity. I have no real problem with this. Why not make money off her celebrity why she can? But I don’t actually believe that this whole Mr Mom thing is anything other then a storyline. I’m sure once the cameras turn off Melissa goes back to being the celebrity face of the store and not much else.
