And I'll take it one step further: I'm 100% out of fucks to give for Vicki. She is a casually racist, narcissist without an ounce of self-awareness. Is she alive? Good. Fine. Other than that, don't care.

This is how I feel. I said it in my original post, but I'll say it again - if Vicki wants people to rush to her side with casseroles, she should have treated them better. I guarantee you that if she hadn't pulled that scam with Brook and lost the trust and respect of all the women, Shannon would absolutely have driven ANY amount of time to go visit her in the hospital. But Vicki treated Shannon like dirt beneath her feet. I don't like Megan, but she was nasty to her from day one. If I were either of those two, I wouldn't even send a card. Sorrynotsorry.

I have to comment about Shannon and her house sale.  This was supposedly her dream house, so why sell?  Are they in financial trouble?   And , when you put your house on the market, don't you have a plan for another house?  If she's selling with most of her furniture, then what's the big freaking deal with packing in 13 days?  There are such things as movers who will pack everything up in a day or two.

I'm really confused about it too. She keeps mentioning wanting to downsize, but then she complains about how much she'll miss the amenities in her current home. And they really did personalize that place. The extra kitchen, the hospital grade air, the basketball court. Why do they want to downsize? Is it financial? Because otherwise, just hire enough people to maintain it. I don't get it.

All this attention wants to be focused on Meghan not agreeing to or feeling the desire to go to the hospital to see Vicki. I'm not sure if it was completely genuine on Heather's part to have called Meghan in the first place. It comes down to - do I call a loved one who'll take 3 hours to get there or do I call someone who doesn't like or respect her and is 45 minutes away? If my concern is Vicki, shouldn't I also be considerate of the company I'm looking to send her way to comfort her during a scary time?

But truthfully, when I consider how Heather delivered that message, she didn't really focus on Vicki being in a severe state. It was more like 'oh she's all by herself and we're too far way to make it there'. Someone should be there to keep her company right now *wink wink, nudge nudge*. I mean, the time it took to call every person in her phonebook, face time with her husband to go over the events, and then chat with a beer chugging Kelly - couldn't you have been much closer to the hospital than where you were sitting on your ass in Glamis while poor Vicki was at the hospital all by herself?

I do understand that she wanted Mudhen to take a 'guilt trip' over to see the bickster.

ALL things considered, being assessed and flown out, via chopper, is a pretty good tale in itself?

My focus was on the exact wording of one of her calls - If I remember correctly?

She starts off with "it doesn't look good" followed by something like, but it's OK!!!!! - It wasn't the call per se.

It was the wording of the call.

Pleather has NO tact.

Instead of calling up to try and wink and nudge?

"Hey called you up to give you a head's up in case you hear some twatter or social media buzz. We had a little accident here on the sand...No one seems to have been hurt badly but bicks and tam went to the hospital.

That is all, then you tell the story IF she wants to hear it.

If she is the nosy idiot we think she is, she'll ask what hospitals they were taken to - and let her go or pass on the trip.

Asking her (more or less telling her) "YOU are 45 minutes away" was a punk move and that now mudhen has to defend her position - a position that she was put in by pleather and her 'goody two shoes' phone call.

My comparing the situation to stopping at an accident on the road wasn't a literal comparison.  What I meant was that for people to compare visiting a coworker (whether you like or dislike them) in the hospital after, say, an appendectomy, or some other admission is not the same situation as Meghan going to the hospital in this particular case.  Would I go to see the coworker I don't care for after a routine surgery?  Nope.  And I wouldn't go see Vicki.  But, in this instance, an emergency happened, and the same "rules" don't apply.  I put aside how I feel because someone needs help, I can offer that help, and so I go.

Also, I don't think it was ever, send Meghan instead of Vicki's kids or anyone else.  I think it was, send Meghan UNTIL.  At least, that was my take on it.  I wouldn't have expected Meghan to drive her back to the OC.  Go, make sure she's doing ok, see if there is something she needs, let her know that you are there if she needs anything, make sure she's reached her kids, and then she's out.

She definitely could go to the ER and let them know she was there to see Vicki, they would then ask Vicki if she wanted to see Meghan and Vicki could say yes or no.  I've had friends who did this for my husband when he was traveling for work, he had to go to the hospital, they rushed over, and were taken back to visit him.  Unless a dr was in the room, they were allowed to be in with him.

The Bedor's aren't hurting for money. I think that the house, while Shannon loves it, reminds her of a bad time that she has gotten past and she wants a fresh start. They both may want to do that. Also they may realize that living in such a large house is nice but now they just want to simplify and down size.  If you are not using most of your house in day to day living and only using certain rooms just a few times a year why have it and the extra expense. They may have gotten past the ego and prestige bug of having the biggest, best and newest while Heather and Terry are very into that.

Sometimes when you finally get that certain special thing you think you deserve you realize it's just a thing. An Hermes Birkin is just a bag to put things in. A Ferrari is just a sled (an auto mechanic's term). A home is where you make it and not size or location. If you are so spread out that you can't interact as a family it's just 4 walls a roof and a door.

Exactly why I don't buy anyone taking the opportunity to summarize how Meghan came across during that phone call. It's not like Heather simply provided the information and let Meghan soak it in and react for herself. Heather tried to control the situation from the get go. Of course if Meghan isn't a total idiot she's going to recognize that and maybe feel some kind of way about it. It's like giving someone a backhanded compliment. They aren't going to appreciate the 'compliment' because they're too busy giving you side eye for the insult you threw in.

That's a good point. I didn't think about that. They're kind of having a fresh start, with the vow renewal and second honeymoon. A new house might help that as well.

Shannon said they'd been in and out of escrow several times so I imagine she didn't really believe the house was going to sell this time. Plus the new owners wanted a quick escrow so she had less than two weeks to figure out which items would stay with the house and what to pack up. They could put everything into storage but they still had to find a new place to stay. Thing is, they could find a place for a month (a hotel maybe?) before finding their new rented house while they find, buy, and renovate their new family home.

In Shannon's place I would be relying on my well paid broker to find and arrange the movers, storage unit, temporary housing, and their long term temporary housing. 3% of $10,000,000 is $300,000. Then he'll get another 3% on the purchase of their new home, not to mention a commission when they find their long term temporary home. He can afford to arrange a lot of incidentals to make life easier for the Beadors.

As far as Meghan going to the hospital? Uh, NO! Anyone with a relative that is often sick and in the hospital would understand not going. Too many reasons to list out, but no.

Besides, Meghan had plans with her husband, who is often out of town. Their time together is precious and I don't blame her one bit for guarding it jealously. Plus she was trying to build a relationship with Shannon and David, that is important too.

Meghan and Shannon can make a casserole for Vicki. I think it would suffice.

And what help could you offer exactly? Comfort? If I have a very strenuous relationship with someone where we both don't respect each other - seeing their face isn't going to be comfortable for anyone, it's going to be awkward. There are so many different context where I could imagine different responses from the one Meghan gave and yet I still can't connect the dots that somehow this was the type of emergency that required a frenemy to drive an hour to go to the hospital. An old friendship gone wrong - put it aside and be by their side. You have a history that will at least momentarily erase the pain and hurt caused between thee two of you. Stranded somewhere and you need physical help to get out of it? - history and friendships be damned, you go regardless. Had Heather said Vicki seemed to be in critical condition and is by herself at the hospital - definitely go and stay there until family can arrive. Vicki's situation was not the kind of emergency (and definitely not communicated as the kind of emergency) that would require friend or foe to set aside their feelings and feel some sort of obligation toward her.

From Heather's blog:

That phone call with Meghan was odd. I told her about the accident and said I think we are in shock. She knew the severity of the accident. So, why should I suggest she see Vicki? Uh...because it's the right thing to do...let's see how that plays out next week...

That's the long and the short of it for me.  Kelly basically says the same thing in her blog.   According to Kelly,  Meghan was 15 to 30 minutes away from the hospital.  I don't know the facts of the travel time but when Meghan said 45 minutes I kinda thought, bullshit, you're exaggerating.   She just didn't want to go or feel any obligation to go.

In Meghan's defense, she's pregnant and very focused on herself; she's dealing with a husband that's been lukewarm on her pregnancy and apparently hates Vicki so maybe she didn't want to rock the boat;  she might have thought the accident was typical housewives drama and not serious.  Whatever, I still think she was wrong to not go, touch base.  Vicki needed clothes and shoes because her clothes had to be cut off.  Meghan could have brought her a dress.    She was right there.  Basic humanity imo.

I don't care anymore if Megan went or not. Bored now.

If I have to watch Megan grimace and contort her face for a dam shot I hate to see her when she has that baby! You know.the one she's going to raising alone. Because the dum dum couldn't be happy to have a beautiful home, tons of money, & a new hubby. Nope She had to have a BABY to make it all ok. Blech.

Loved seeing Tammy Sue and Eddie run to each other and hug like crazy. Then him going with her in the helicopter. True Love. Melted my hard old heart.

Finally we get some new stories out of this! I look forward to the tension with Heather/Tamra/Megan/Shannon over this hospital etiquette. I'm pretty much sick of all the drama being centered on how evil Vicki is. I have never, ever liked Megan and can't think of one memorable thing she's contributed to the series UNTIL the phone call with Heather. She earned her entire paycheck and had my screaming and dying of laughter. The fake concern mixed with trying to get out of it was just hilarious. I died and am thankful she finally did something memorable. I know everyone will go back to hating Vicki, but for at least an episode or two I look forward to seeing some different dynamics between the ladies.

YUP!   I had a notebooks both for my dad and mother that included copies of the HPOA, DPOA, HPA, also had the DNR and the POLST.  They had the legal documents, history, past and current medications list, contact info for doctors, family contact list, home health, labs, med transport services, SNF numbers and addresses, list of current medical equipment, current Dr. visit summaries and instructions, home health visit info (mom), PT info, lab work, weekly pictures of her back wound necrotizing fasciitis from a nursing home stay and past and current care instructions. For my dad it was pictorial history of his cancer and amputation wound complications. After the bad nursing home stay, we brought mama home and I took care of her for several years so I also listed her sugars, temps, BP, iv's given, special shots given, and anomalies. I also had a page at the front to write down questions to ask with space to write down their answers.

With both parents having multiple issues the notebooks came in handy when the paramedics had to come, or they had to see a new doctor, or go to a new place. I just gave them the book an they could copy what they needed and I didn't have to rattle off history and meds and forget to mention something in the heat of the moment. With my dad in and out of assisted living, hospitals, SNFs, medical board and care facilities for two years, they went with me everywhere in case I had to go to him from where I was, just threw the bag in the trunk.

.

OMG you are my Primary Care Giver Soulmate! Let’s go Tom/Luanne sending you 1 murky orange carrot.

Bunny_carrot.gif

I didn’t have notebooks, I have file cabinets. Each parent has different doctors, specialists and different hospitals that met their individual needs. I had charts or daily BP, temperature, and oxygen stats. I only kept individual current medications, dosages, RX numbers, and pharmacy info. Past meds were deleted unless they had a bad reaction to them. Those then were kept in a separate file so they never were prescribed that med again. Each parent and home health aide and myself had a list of meds on them at all times. One parent had blood sugar level charts. I had appointment charts. We have something called Access A Ride which is door to door transportation and very inexpensive. Prior to getting this for both parents, I was using car service – Holy Shit that adds up.

No way any of them would have known what meds Vicki was taking or her medical history.

Yes, I'd offer comfort.  Call me crazy, but if I'd just been in a really bad wreck, had to be airlifted out (after waiting 45 mins as we now know) for the helicopter, while strapped down to a board, and am in a strange ER, I would find a familiar face to be comforting.  If I could have anyone in the world, would I rather it be my husband? Sure, who wouldn't? But, if he's hours away, then I'd take the first person who could get to me that I knew, to make the whole thing a bit less intimidating.  I literally do not speak to a sibling of mine unless we are in the same room (which happens maybe twice a decade), and then it's as limited as I can make it.  Would I want that sibling showing up in a situation like Vicki's? Absolutely! Sometimes you go with what you've got until the reinforcements arrive.

And, people shouldn't assume that those of us who are saying that Meghan should have gone haven't ever dealt with a loved one being hospitalized routinely.  You would be dead wrong in my case.  Even with that experience (more than once), I STILL think the right thing to do is go.

Brianna- I will never feel sorry for her. She left her husband and took 2 boys away from a Dad who had already been gone a lot because of deployments. Then she moves in with her Mom and bitches about not having any help. Stay on Oklahoma were your husband is ! Where your kids have friends. But NOOOOOO being in front of a camera is WAY more important.

From Meghan's Bravo blog.

"It was pretty hard to gauge the severity of the accident since I wasn’t there, so I’ve been anxious to see it played back on TV. But even then I asked myself if I was in Vicki's shoes would I want her to visit me in the ER? I said no. I thought I would feel uncomfortable. Now if Vicki was admitted to the hospital I absolutely would've stopped by. Thankfully, Vicki was released from the ER only hours later and she and I were texting throughout her time in the hospital."

I hope she saved those texts as proof for the reunion.

Let us remember Vicki made her daughter drive cross country just out of the hospital with a raging infection and then later Vickster rushed off to work after leaving her just released from the hospital ill daughter home with two toddlers. Karma is a just bitch.

That shot of Kelly's helmet flying off was pretty scary. I don't know how she escaped getting any head injuries.

Has Tamra's mom always called her "Tammy"? Anyway, I kind of felt sorry for the woman having to be "consoled" by Kelly.

I wasn't; as a viewer, I appreciated seeing the ordeal play out, and am glad the crew did what they're paid to do. Besides, it's not like they would've been of any kind of help, as they were further away from the wreck than Eddie and the others were.

If I was located 45 minutes away from him while he was in the ER and knew he was texting during his stay, I would messenger him my IPAD which has built in WIFI, so he could Facetime and keep posting on these boards while waiting for test results to come back. I would only go to visit if he had to stay at the hospital for a few days.

Yeah Megan should have gone to the hospital for Vicki like Vicki  did Brooks ... Oh wait that didn't  happen.

I was in a parking lot once saw an elderly lady trip over parking curb and fall I spoke to her helped her sit up told her I was running into  nearby cleaners to have them call an ambulance. I then followed them to ER and sat with her while being xrayed and daughter showed up.  Wouldn't walk across the street for Vick sorry.  Someone from production should have gotten on top on it.  These bitches went on a radio show after Brooks -gate and said they never wanted anything to do with her and they've all made phony nice for the camera.  It would be no comfort to have Meagan there.   I can hear the doctors and nurses asking and you are who??

I had a mother in law who would easily get admittedly to the hospital ( way  back in the day) then kept tally on who came and who didn't. Vicki's  going to do that guaranteed.  Maybe because I worked in a hospital and  my mother was an RN as well as had husband and son catastrophically  as well as Terminally ill. I  have no sympathy for Vicki who had to go to work when daughter was in distress and even makes her illness about how she can't take it.   Cold hearted bitch I am.  Yet I do donate to an organization that gives sexual  abuse patients/ victims clothes to wear home when they are taken as evidence. I'm sure the gift shop in the desert will have a lovely outfit for her to wear home. It's Palm Springs.

Yup. Hell, Vicki couldn't even stay with Brooks through his alleged chemo treatment. Because she has to WORK, you know. Fuck her. She wasn't even admitted. She was in the ER, cared for, and sent home. No one but family would be allowed in or given any details so what is the point? Production could have easily gone and bought her some new clothes to ride home in.

Quite possibly.  My cousin delivered my godson completely natural.  Not for any deeply held beliefs, but because she feared the needles too much.

Okay, so now Meghan isn't just visiting Vicky in the ER, but she has to buy her a dress too (there's no way Vicki is fitting into anything Meghan owns)?  But Vicki's kids can't even be bothered to pick her up from the ER to drive her home?  Sounds logical to me.

When Meghan dragged Jim to her appt, I misunderstood, especially from the drama she put on.  I assumed there was a huge procedure, and only to realize it was a damn blood test!!!  How did she ever get that tattoo?   Jim really does look like he could care less, and he sure isn't buying into her act.

I'm the first to admit it - I don't camp.   The closest I get is today - sitting under a canopy on the beach with a drink on the table and a good wi-fi connection.   Glamis looked like hell on earth to me - and didn't seem like fun.    The only think worse would be riding an ATV.   My friends son, 21 at the time, was in Mexico on an ATV, rolled it and is now a quadriplegic.   One minor mistake in steering and it can have horrible results.

I can understand why Heather called Meghan. She was still super hyped up about the accident, and since Meghan was closer, she assumed Meghan would run over there to check on things.  It really had little to do with whether or not they were friends.  If Heather knew somebody else close to the hospital she would have probably called them.    But Meghan came across as looking vacant - and cold.   Hey Vicki didn't come see her when Meghan went through the horrific ordeal of a blood test.

He also told Kelly he was glad she had her own camper, so she could puke in there next time. I love that kid!

I thought Nicki was a very sweet kid.  He doesn't seem like a spoiled entitled kid, which is a credit to his parents, I guess.   It was also sensitive of Heather to want one on one time with him.   In some families, being the only boy often translates to a lot of one on one time from the father.  That's not the reality for the DuBrows, at least not at this time.  So Nicky is the odd one out as the only male in that household.  With his quieter personality, he may get lost in a family of extroverts. I hope he stays so sweet and funny.

Kelly kept saying Vicki is going to throw up, she’s going to throw up…

So did Vicki throw up on Kelly’s lap or did she just make gagging noises at Kelly’s vagina?

If I were Kelly, and Vicki threw up on my lap, I would have empathetically hurled the contents of my stomach onto the back of Vicki’s head.

DId that once with an old man in the parking lot at the hospital. I was there to pick up and Rx for my dad. He was not feeling good, he was having a problem walking and didn't know where the ER was. I brought out a wheel chair, rolled him to the ER and stayed with him. I asked if he wanted to call anyone and he said no they were on their way. I stayed till he was called and then wheeled him in to initial ER intake where the nurse takes vitals and history. After intake when they were taking him to the back rooms of ER he was comfortable enough for us to part ways.

I've had two sick parents. I've done things for others because one, that could be me at some point and  two, I have received so much kindness from strangers helping with my parents it's a way of paying it forward.

Still, I won't knock Meghan. It is a much harder decision when you have bad history with a person.

Just becuase it needs to be Said, Shut Up Megan!

Just because I feel the need to defend her:  Meghan, there's no need to shut up.  There's no need to go to a hospital emergency room to check on someone when you're not family...and they will definitely NOT give you any information.  Someone needed to call Brianna back.  Isn't she an ER nurse?  She'd know protocol.

Ok on to another subject.

Raising my hand I second Heathers choice for glamping. I'm ok with packing in and sleeping in a tent but if I win Powerball a Monarch Diplomat would be mighty nice to camp in. Two of my boyfriend's sporting friends have them and daaaaaang are they nice.

Heather's was a Holiday Rambler Scepter, but I'd rather have a Diplomat

Damn!  I just looked up Monarch Diplomat.  Now that's glamping.  Good luck with your Powerball!

We have a popup camper.  It's up in our backyard now.  I hang out in there with my laptop and some books when I want peace and quiet.  Works great!  We go camping.  But we camp in Rhode Island, in the woods, 5 minutes from beautiful beaches.  We go with a bunch of friends and we each have our own site in a big circle right next to each other.  It's great fun.  Beach everyday and good food and drinks at night.  That Glamis looked terrible.  Just sand, sand, sand.  Not a tree or beach in site.  It must get sooooo hot there!  I'm glad Heather's son was enjoying himself though.  I really like him.  I enjoyed every scene they showed him in.  Good kid.

Anybody think that the production team at Meghan's was all in favor of Meghan and Jim staying to play golf with Shannon and David?  I am thinking knowing what a klutz Shannon is it was probably only a matter of time before they ended up at the ER with Shannon-with a divot in her head.  It would be kind of a two-fer. for production.

I am thinking Tamra getting involved in the should Meghan have visited/is Shannon mad because Vicki is a victim, is a little bit of deflection from the fact she operated the vehicle in a negligent fashion and could have caused serious injuries to her co-stars?  It seems all Tamra was worried about was her upcoming body building competition.  Why didn't her brother or someone go to the hospital with Vicki's belongings?  How is it Vicki had the where for all to take her phone to the ER?  She was texting Meghan so she was in contact.

Thanks to you all, I'll have to revise my "Do Not Fly List" to allow you all in!!!!!

We once were traveling across country and I checked my cell phone - I had a message from a doc to get to an ER ASAP, something in my bloodwork came back elevated. We were one day out and had the dog with us, I spent three night in the hospital and my wife couldn't do anything, so I had to buck up and spend it alone. That sucked - but that is life?

To all you "primary care givers" out there....

What you do is a thankless job, with calls out of the blue - you spend you days off schlepping loved ones back and forth to appointments, fixing meals, counting pills, changing bandages and bathing and just caring for loved ones. There are times when you want to drop everything and walk away, but you all stay.

And for that I stand and applaud you all, It may be a thankless job, but if you weren't there, things could be bleaker?

Don't ever stop doing what you are doing, Remember, someone out there is with you every step on the way.

For the record?

I defended Mudhen, I didn't say I'd visit bicki. : 0

Backtracking just a tad, but because I have too much time on my hands, I googled directions from La Quinta to Desert Regional in Palm Springs and it actually does say it's 40+ minutes.

I enjoy the fact that she can contort her face, unlike everyone else on the show.  She looks so lifelike compared to them.

But your judgment on what the right thing to do is solely based on what you would want to have done had you been in Vicki's shoes. But not everyone is like that or would want that. From Meghan's blog, she apparently asked herself the same question of whether she would have felt comfortable if the roles were reversed and Vicki had shown up. You both asked the same question, you both took consideration from how the other person might react to your presence, but you both came to different conclusions because your experience and expectations are different. I think either decision is acceptable so long as the decision came from a place that isn't spiteful or cold. Meghan did say in her blog that she was texting Vicki throughout her time in the hospital. Meghan clearly made the judgment call that a text was an easier way to reach out to Vicki without any in-person awkwardness. If Meghan had felt at any point during her conversation with Vicki that it was severe and maybe Vicki would want a familiar face around, she would have likely gone. Why would Meghan think the situation is so severe if she was soon after communicating via text with Vicki?

All I'm saying is that given the context of the situation and knowing what we know now especially about the text messages, etc. I don't think Meghan's decision should be clearly defined as not the 'right' thing to do. Nor do I think it should be classified as uncaring.

Am I the odd guy out here?  I can think of any number of "familiar faces" that would be anything but comforting (or welcome).  Leave me the freak alone and let the doctors do their business...even if I lie on a stretcher for a couple of hours and stare at the ceiling.  I know whereof I speak.  I didn't need no steenkin' casseroles.

That right there is the killer argument.  I defy anyone to say, "Yes, I would want Vicki to show up if I'm in an emergency situation and need calming down" with a straight face.

I realize Meghan and V aren't friends, but more casual enemies or at the very least co-workers.   Heather was 3 hours away, and Brianna was at least 2, so I got the impression it was more of a can you check things out for us - and not necessarily hold Vicki's hand.    Going to a strange hospital away from home, after an accident, can be horribly scary - a familiar face is nice.    When my SIL was in an accident, she was airlifted to a hospital, her daughter was separately airlifted and her son was taken by ambulance 3 hours away.   I was 4 hours away, my brother was 7 hours - and I would have loved somebody to have been there until we could get there.   Sadly we didn't make it in time before SIL and daughter passed away.
