Spoilers for Parenthood

Recommended Posts

If this is true, does this mean that Zeek's mother Blanche [who was seen celebrating her 86th Birthday two seasons ago] would have to deal with outliving her child and how would the family help her out? It's one thing to outlive a parent, a sibling or even a spouse but outliving one's  child?

Yes, its speculation based on this quote:

“And to me, Parenthood is about, in a way, the cycle of life,” he continued. “You see these little kids become bigger kids and this season, you saw a shift in the patriarch going from Zeek to Adam [Peter Krause]. I think I would want the end to be about sort of that kind of change, that idea that something is passing and something is starting, something is beginning.”

Since he talks about the 'cycle of life' and we've had a few births, but no deaths.  It could just as easily be Camille I would think.  I just always thought Zeke was more of the 'force' and thus his death would make for greater drama.  Or maybe they will have it be Zeke's mom.

Having Zeek's mother die would be a dramatic copout, since she was in only one episode and is never mentioned. It wouldn't feel like some big loss to the viewer. Having Zeek die would be much braver, since he's the head of the family and a central member of the cast. Of course, that nixes his chance to be in the inevitable reunion movie in 10 years.

Above and beyond the season-long arc, Katims promised “as many storylines going on as there always are,” including a likely full-season presence for Ray Romano’s Hank and hopefully a final-season encore for Jason Ritter’s Mark.

Barfy barf barf. Source.

Yes, but given the fact that she's been given so little to do during the course of the show, the real question would be, would anyone notice if she was dead?

I'm glad Amber's all zen with the guitar strumming, it's good to not have stress flaring up during pregnancy, but Sarah's right, it's time to do some brainstorming and planning.  I don't think she was too heavy-handed at all, very tactful.

Maybe Amber has some sort of pregnancy related complication and they're waiting to see a specialist?  Drew looks concerned enough.  Of course, Amber doesn't look like she's sobbing uncontrollably as she is wont to do, so probably not.

It looks like Zeke's hands/shoes in the forefront of the picture, so not totally buying into him being the one at risk.

Yeah, that's definitely Zeek -- his hands, and his shoes.

I'm standing by my theory: Crosby dies.

I'm not leaning toward it being Crosby only because that would be a lot of heavy lifting for Joy Bryant.  I definitely don't think she's a bad actress, but I also don't think she'd be the writers' go-to for the most dramatic storyline the show has ever had.

It's anyone's guess though.  I would be in favor of having a bus take someone out Mean Girls-style in the series finale.  Just because.

Like Gary on Thirtysomething!! Good lord, I just realized that was more than twenty years ago. I was a Senior in college, and now I'm fortysomething :/

I thought about this too, Amber's baby. For two reasons: the announcement that someone will die, in the usual network fashion of hyperbole. And the fact that poor Amber can, again, smoke pot and get drunk, since this seems to be the whole reason for her to keep going.

There will be a three year flash forward at the end of the final episode. Joel and Julia will have another big change coming. Pregnancy? I suspect Amber and Ryan will be back together. Will everyone else be teaching st Snowflake Academy? I suppose Haddie will return and find a place there.

I hope no more pregnancies, though the name of the show is "Parenthood".  I would rather see the various parents deal with the offspring they already have.  Especially Joel and Julia, they had their hands full negotiating a new kid, their old kid and their jobs/at-home parenting.  If Zeek does exit, or even if he doesn't, I would not be surprised to see Amber living with Camille or the both of them. They have a nice big house, she has a hovel.  Lil Zeek needs to be out of that place.
