Ashleigh, a 29-year-old mom and recovering addict who has been sober for four years. She is purusing a career in social work and drug/alcohol rehabilitation. Her husband, Zac, participated on the first season of the show.

I don't really understand her motivation for doing this program since Zac just got out.

I never understood soft porn. Ya screwing or ya not.

Zac left his baby too but nobody cared when he did it.  I wouldn't leave my baby if I had kids for this reason but I don't think it's fair for Ashleigh to get shit for leaving the kid when the kid's dad did the same thing.

I actually remember that Zac DID get shit for leaving his infant. Mom's are always judged more harshly, but in this case everyone seems to agree they are both shitty parents for leaving their infant.

I can imagine they are being compensated for their time and maybe thats why they both jumped on it. I dont have kids myself (just one furbaby, Id love to have kids someday) but the only way I would do so is if I were being offered a not insignificant sum of cash. And even then I'd be reluctant.

The sheriff wants to have sex with her sooooo much. He and the producers asked her to be part of the show, so why is the sheriff commenting now that she "doesn't look like the average inmate" and would have trouble in jail because of it? Maybe cast people better, then?

Ashleigh has gotten a pass on many things in her life due to her looks. I'm sure her addiction, DUIs, firing a gun (even accidentally), the soft core stuff mentioned above, etc. would have derailed her life completely if she wasn't as pretty.

I think anyone who has a very young infant will take crap for leaving their child--I think its the fact that they both left for 2 months back to back,

and I have to believe it is a nice sum of money. I take a dim view on anyone leaving their child so young, but I think its more that they both did it irks people. And really and truly, it seems dangerous to me--I cant imagine leaving my child and putting myself in harms way, and you have both of them doing it. Just my opinion:)

A lot of people, me included, skewered Zac for leaving his baby.  But honestly, I don't get the warm fuzzies from Ashleigh.  I have a feeling she got pregnant on purpose to either hang onto Zac or prevent him from following through with the show.  When he did it anyway she figured, "Screw you. Now YOU can stay with the baby while I go away and you'll see how it feels."  She just annoys the hell out of me.  And what's with her baring her ass for the other inmates?  Does she miss the mansion that much?

Maybe this is the reason for so many harsh comments here about her.

I'm surprised no one has called CPS on her yet.

I guess youre trying to insinuate that people are harsh because shes pretty....at least for me, nothing could be further from the case. I was shocked when during the first season when I saw he had a son that young...and further surprised that his wife left for the show soon afterwards. were all entitled to our opinions, and anyone thats puts themselves out there on a tv show sort of has to expect people to have opinions. it also does seem to be a somewhat dangerous show, which for me makes it more surprising that parents would take that risk and leave an infant for months at a time.

There are more descriptive bios on aetv.com.  I posted the full link in the media page, but thought I'd post Ashleigh's here.

Ashleigh’s mother introduced her to alcohol when she was only 10 years old and by the time she was a teenager her addiction was out of control. She finally got clean after an overdose landed her in the hospital and now she has been sober four years.

Ashleigh’s behavior could have easily landed her behind bars for several months and she wants to face the harsh reality that could have been her life. She expects to meet other women with stories similar to her own and would like to help those inmates who are struggling with addiction. At the same time, being constantly surrounded by women who remind her of her old life will be challenging. Ultimately, Ashleigh plans to pursue a career in social work or drug/alcohol rehabilitation and she sees this as a unique and inspiring start.

The Sheriff believes that Ashleigh’s past will help her relate to the multiple women in the unit who are struggling with addiction or incarcerated for DUIs. And as Zac’s wife, she could report on whether some of the Sheriff’s solutions to problems Zac identified are fixing the issues.

I am curious about the apparent blame on her mother.  I mean, my parents let me drink small sips of wine at Thanksgiving dinner when I was like 8 or 9 years old.  This was before my alcoholic father went into the program and therefore no more alcohol was allowed in the house.  So, I was also "introduced" to alcohol around that time and I have an alcoholic parent and did not become a raging alcoholic/drug addict.  I don't think it's fair to always blame the parents.  But, it COULD be her mother's fault.  I don't really know, I guess is what I am saying.

I think people may be harder on her for leaving the baby because it goes against the motherly instinct. Makes you wonder what kind of chip is missing. The instinct is not the same for a father.

Me neither, but then again she's really pursuing a career in modeling and acting, so there's that too.

Pornographic modeling and acting? The previews show her baring her ass to the other inmates more than once. I don't understand why she didn't just refuse when they asked.

In her TH she says she had several run-ins with the law but then acts like she's never been to jail before. So what kind of "run-ins" has she had? Speeding tickets?

Btw, she's not pretty without makeup IMO.

She's had "numerous" DWIs/DUIs and some kind of arrest for drugs.  I'm sure she spent time in jail before but she was probably so drunk she doesn't remember.

This would be much cooler. Somehow I doubt it with these two.

Think about it.  Ryker Baker.  Eh????  I'm older than you guys, so the first think I thought when I heard the name was 'Third Reich' -- as in Hitler's Nazis.

In regards to them needing the compensation, I agree that is a big reason why they have continued to do the follow-up shows and such.  I also recall seeing that she and Zac, along with I think Isiah and a few others started a "consulting" business where they list themselves as experts and "train" or prepare people who are facing jail time to prepare them to be incarcerated.  They have a website for the business.  They have different "tiers" you can choose, and they say they will even fly to your location.  I have nothing against them starting a business, but I fail to see how they consider themselves experts, from being there for 60 days.  They themselves had no formal training (that we saw anyhow...just the briefing) and learned the politics once inside.  I will come back and edit this if I think of the name of the company, it escapes me at the moment. (see what I did there?)
