The Seewalds: Benessa and The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Name... & Henry

Recommended Posts

JB requires occasional proof that Ben is still drinking the Kool-aid in order to keep Benessa on the Duggar payroll.

He has too much time on his hands, since he doesn’t have a real job?

Seriously, how much time does it take in a day to lift weights with your BILs to stay buff and groom a beard?  He is so ridiculous.  Three little ones and he provides no income for their care.

He definitely should have graduated from Moody by now, even accounting for the two semesters he took off when the boys were born. He should be working at a real job. That is, unless he's going to grad school. In that case, I see him still employed by Boob.

Regarding the above explanations of Bin's outbursts:

Great list, folks.

I fear the answer is "all of the above."

I'd feel somewhat distraught if I already had three kids and was spinning my wheels to the extent he is. I wonder if they've now just concluded that TLC money will continue forever?

Even if I did think this, though, I'd feel as if I wasn't pulling my weight for those kids, seems to me.

It Hot Springs near where the Seewald's live?

An Arkansas couple with 4 adult children recently adopted 7 and 2 more children. Seven siblings and two siblings, making them a family with 13 kids.

Oh and they've fostered about 80 kids over 5 years.

And Jessa and Ben have adopted how many?

The Seewalds used to live in Hot Springs, but moved to the Little Rock area a couple of years ago.

I am no fan but do we know this or just speculating?

Frankly, we've been given no clues as to what he's doing. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

When fans have asked, Jessa has gotten extremely defensive, which says a lot to me.

Second fairly well-known recent appearance (Tom Brady pecks his 11-year-old son on the mouth):

Of course, the Duggars en masse would sexualize this, so maybe Ben doesn't have a really good leg to stand on (the Rock catches hell for posting a picture of his naked 3-year-old at a swim lesson):

He is probably hiding from the diaper mountain. Or it’s smell that made him even more insane.

Then he can do something about it. He's as much responsible for the diaper mountain as Jessa is. Although now that Spurgeon is walking and talking in full sentences, I'm pretty sure it's his responsibility to dispose of the diapers.

I love how intensely the boys are staring at that book. I hope this wasn’t just a photo op and that they do read to them often.

I also noticed that the curls are gone. I guess Jessa doesn't have the time to properly tousle the boys' hair now that she's got Ivy Jane attached to her boobs.

Is that a girl pajama on Henry?

I'm starting to see a bit of  a resurgence of gender-neutral clothing for young children, and I for one am happy that Jessa seems at least marginally less obsessive than the typical Gothardite about silly rules about boy colors and girl colors.

It's come up a few times with her, so I'm thinking, even if it isn't intentional on her part, she's not uptight about it, which is good.

Yes, definitely! I was pleasantly surprised by her color choices for newborn Ivy.  I had expected a pinksplosion for the first girl after two boys.

I don't think she notices at all.

If I thought she was more relaxed than her peers on gender roles, I'd give her due credit. The fact is, though, that she's lazy and slovenly and I don't think that it's an active choice on her part. I think she takes outgrown clothes from the TTH for her boys and all of the youngest kids were girls.

I wouldn't rule that either! LOL Still, it signifies to me she is not as caught up in the gender stuff as her parents were if she's not ruling out stuff because it is for the "wrong" sex.

She also shops at that NWA thrift shop chain whose name I can't recall. Once Upon a Child comes to mind, but I don't know if that's the chain. @Zella, help!

At any rate, those shops seem to have clothes marked by gender, so if Jessa did thrift Henry's jammies, they were in the boy's section.

Let me dig! I'm not actually much of a thrift store shopper myself.

@Sew Sumi is it Rhea Lana's? She posted about it back in March.

Also toddler curls are often fleeting and disappear after hair trims.

Are they just pulling stuff out of their ass? Who said a father kissing their kids is weird? And  "raw pornographic material" probably just means nudity to

Never mind. It's all been said.

Box of diapers is $28. Who is paying for everything? Ben is not making $50,000 a year to buy diapers for his kids.

Spurgie is 3 1/2, closer to 4 than 3. He should be mostly potty trained by now.

That's what I was going to say; there's a definite family resemblance.  She looks like a good eater, too.  I dig her round little arms.  Dress seems expensive, with all those little pleats - maybe Guinn bought it.

Looks like he is pulling away and saying, “The baby is touching me!” I think Ivy favors Spurgeon.

On JD/Abbie's thread, apparently Abbie is having a girl. That means that there will be five girls (Ivy; and Kendra, Lauren, Anna, and Abbie's daughters).

How much do you want to bet that Jessa will organize a little party with the sisters-in-law where she can impart her wisdom on parenting a daughter? And then she will get Jinger to attend via Facetime. And this will all be shown on TLC.

I've been thinking about good old Ben, who managed to find the motivation to chase and win Jessa.  Since then, however, I think his get up and go has got up and left, as my grandmother would say.  Ben is never going to be an influential preacher like his bud Jeremee plans--he's going to end up laying carpet and tiles for JimBob and whatever else he has his minions do~  Maybe one day, if he works hard, Ben will get to have his own used car lot.

I think a big part of his motivation back then--apart from wanting to fuck Jessa--was his belief that marrying into the Duggar family would give him an instant audience for his preaching. Little did he know that part of the TLC deal is downplaying their beliefs when the cameras are on. He's been bored and resentful ever since.

I don't know how much preaching Ben wanted to do early in their relationship. He was going to a real community college as a business major, IIRC.

He was just a kid at the time. It's hard to say what his aspirations truly were. He was doing those cringe-worthy interviews for a while too.

I'm doubtful he's even had the opportunity to think about it because whatever he pursues would probably interfere with the TeeVee show.

His parents really failed him here. The Seewalds knew what the Duggars stood for and how they viewed courtships. They sacrificed him and his future to the altar of D-list TV fame. They didn't benefit from it whatsoever except they had one less mouth to feed.

My daughter asked me why they wrapped the kid's head in a rag.  She has a four year old girl and didn't get it.  🙂
