Jessa, Ben and Their Brood: Making a (Diaper) Mountain out of a Mold House

Message added by Scarlett45

The Duggars post about politics on social media frequently, but these social media posts are not an invitation to discuss politics here in this forum. This rule extends to Duggar adjacent families, friends, associates etc. Such discussions are a violation of the Politics Policy.

I understand with recent current events there may be a desire to discuss certain social media postings of those in the Duggar realm as they relate to politics- this is not the place for those discussions. If you believe someone has violated forum rules, report them, do not respond or engage.

If People magazine thinks the birth of Jessa`s baby will sell enough and bring them readers, she will be on the cover. People magazine could care less what the Seewalds think of them.

True, but it's hardly good business if the people on your cover are spouting to their main fanbase (and buyers of the magazine) about how they've been misrepresented or whatever nonsense they're complaining about.

I'm betting Joshie is going to get a side panel in next week's issue all to himself, if not a full cover. Something Jessa is again beaten to!

I keep seeing screenshots of some internet rant Jessa went on regarding People calling her pregnancy bittersweet, but I can't find it anywhere. Where did she post that? (It's not on Facebook or Instagram)

Ben posted it on his IG account. Be sure and read the comments. ;-)

If Josh is back and at the bottom of the barrel he will probably get to be the one to clean all those toilets.  What does that mean for Ben?  And just how many young adults does Boob have to find work for?  He must have at least eight that are of employment age (since school ends at what, 14? 15?).  The only one who doesn't seem to have a hand out (to Jim Bob) is Jill.  And she's probably worried about what will become of her "fans" and missionary supporters.

If was Jessa, I'd be pissed that my sister Jill got hooked up with the more educated & more employable husband and is spending time out of the country during these scandals and backlash. I'd be pissed daddy found Jill a guy who can, if needed, find a good paying job as an accountant. I'd be pissed she's so far removed from the situation because she's out in the field doing missionary work while I was stuck on the Duggar compound, pregnant in the Southern heat, in the vicinity of Josh, and having to go give speeches because no one is going to pay just to hear my husband alone talk (even though Gothardism says he should support me financially, not my dad and I supporting him). I'd realize that eventually JimBob was going to have to tighten the purse strings and that Ben & I really depend on the Duggar Brand (which Josh has pooped on) and Jim Bob to keep our standard of living. I'd be so pissed that Josh victimized me twice - as a girl and then as an adult by sinking any chance for another reality show. Jill got lucky with her husband - if needed, Derrick could make good money and they could be alright never talking to the Duggars again, let alone being financially dependent on them. Ben, not so much. Jessa is stuck. The rest of the Duggar girls will not have any better courtship prospects after all this. Jill is so lucky she married someone who could get her out and support her. From Jessa on down, those kids have got to be or will be so mad.

You know Jessa is mad as hell. In my mind, i like to think she divorces Ben, goes to cosmotology, and raises her kid on her own. Maybe she and Jinger will room up, and one of them will write the tell all.

Buut, she's probably going to pop out more kids.

I gotta say, if a Duggar kid ever does write a tell-all book, my money is on Jessa.  That girl is COLD.  If no one minds me getting all astrological and stuff here, Jessa is a Scorpio and when Scorps decide they've just damned well had enough of whatever situation/person has offended them, well, fucking look out.  The scorpion's sting can be lethal.

She's already pissed about the media circus around the molestation scandal, which took the focus off her marriage and pregnancy.  Now here comes another Josh-generated hit to the fame and fortune she thinks she's entitled to.

Jessa might not be willing to expose anything about JB and Michelle, but I can see her, at this point, wanting to hurt someone very, very badly for what's been taken from her.  I think Joshie had better keep a safe distance - and Jill, as well.

I think that this is a really big deal for both Jessa and Jill. Despite the Gothard rules, both of these young women entered into their marriages with some degree of power -- their family had stature, both financial and moral, that balanced out the power that Gothardism gives to men. Now, barely a year into their respective relationships, they have been stripped of that bit of self-worth. They are both so smug and so confidant of their moral superiority -- bestowed on them, in large part, simply because they are Duggars -- that I think this will be harder on them than the molestation scandal.

I agree with all of this.

The only hope for the younger girl's is to ditch the fundie world and find real world guys.

If this family wasn't already trashed in the fundie world, they are gone now.

It's like they were princesses of some weirdass kingdom of Quiverful Land and Josh was the heir apparent. Well, now the heir's committed sacrilege and has been exiled, the King is dethroned, and the princesses have lost their only value in terms of their status in Quiverful Land.

This is practically medieval.

Waiting for BinSeewald's facebook rant on adultery....

Enjoying the sound of crickets while I wait... Hey, what about the verse that says, if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off? Well, take that to its logical conclusion. Problem solved! Too bad Gothard didn't think of that for himself years ago!

And kinda nice since that's the era JB and M have sort of been aiming for. Live by the Dark Ages, die by the Dark Ages.

Are you being fair to the Dark Ages, though? They did at least pay lip service to chivalry back then.

They bathe every day in the glory of being superior to everyone, both in looks and spirituality.

Which is good, since they don't appear to bathe in the bath every day. At least something's getting clean.

Ah, Bin, you eedjit, "people and magazines are saying..." No, it's People Magazine. Y'know, the one writing you checks? For the pictures they take and the words you say?

"People and magazines" is Ben's clever way of not specifying People Magazine while subtly communicating that that's who he's talking about. He's sure the magazine will never catch on. :-)

I actually had a dream last night that JB was worried and depressed because he didn't fix up his daughter's with professional men who could support them now that the show is cancelled.

It's this forum. I had a dream the night before that I met Jana and Jill and they were cursing, smoking cigarettes and partying out in someone's backyard. And they were wearing jeans!

I like your dream better.  It is this forum, perhaps a thread titled Duggar Dreams is in order.

In reality, Jessa is lucky.

She got a lot of fame and I hope some money with the show.

And there was enough cash to redo The Mold House. It was a crappy, modly mess before the redo.

At least she has nice wood floors, fresh paint and a styled kitchen. Some furniture and some nice things.

Look at the other kids?  They will get zero because Jim Bob can't afford to do all that for everyone now that the party has ended.

True but you know they will be living there for a loooong time so at least it's comfortable and fixed up. They couldn't afford cheap rent in a dirty apartment with Bin's salary...hey, what does he do again?  Jessa, at least, got a decent place to live.

Too bad the Tim Tebow rumors weren't true for poor Jana. That girl is gonna be shut down.

Jessa was at least lucky she got a few People spreads and an obscene wedding registry under her belt before things imploded. In her mind she's getting screwed over because Baby Seewald won't generate as much fanfare as Baby Iz, but hey, at least Bin isn't a child molester who just publicly confessed to a porn addiction. She can still go all Regina George on Anna and rub her perfect marriage in her face.

At least with an apartment you have the lease for protection. Landlord can't throw you out without notice and effort. If Jessa doesn't tow the family line, she's out on her ass.

I bet they sell or rent Jill's princess mansion too. THEY NEED MONEY.

Baby Seewald may generate as much fanfare as Izzy, but not in the same kind of way. The headlines might be: Jessa Seewald, Sister of Josh Duggar who has Been in Rehab for Two Months has Given Birth to a Baby Girl.

If he's watched someone else do it a couple of times, then by JB's standards, yes, he's a professional.

I can't imagine what else he does for income. Soon there won't be any grass to mow... winter is coming!

Anyone else think that Jessa probably had to be physically restrained from beating the crap outta Joshie?  I can just picture her flying across the room, nails like claws, screaming at Josh while Ben struggles to hold her back.  JimBoob screaming to be heard over Jessa while Joshie forgets not to look smug for a moment.  Michelle glued to Anna's side, in her ear about how she has to step it up for poor widdle Joshie.  While Anna sits on the giant couch, glazed eyes, alternating between bouts of hysterics and staring off into no where.  While the howlers screech and scream around Anna and the shit show with one of the older howlers cluelessly film it for the "Duggar channel".  On a missionary far away, Jill feverishly prays for her family, Derrik gives thanks that now he won't have to take his wife & lil Izzy back to the shit show.   All while in an ivory tower/old shoe in Pennsylvania, a cackling Kate Gosselin screams at her kids that "it's SHOW TIME!" as she speed dials TLC.

ok, I can  see Jessa totally going off the deep end and screaming at Josh at the very least.

The benzo doses in this family must have seriously escalated. I hope Jessa has her own prescription, Michelle can't spare any.

Jill's house would come with an implied obligation to populate it.

They have nothing better to do. Jessa will be pregnant again this time next year. If they have opposite gender kids, they can't stay in that mold house, lest the toddlers get a peek into one-another's diapers. IF Jessa subscribes to that crap like Jill has admitted she does.

At which point, well, they'll need a bigger house. Whether she gets Jill's, or another of Boob's fixed up foreclosures depends on how well she continues to toe the party line. At this point, her only income is from those Southern Women's Shows (I don't think People paid them for the old photo that is supposed to be the next cover. Ben was all upset over the "bittersweet" pregnancy remark from the "family friend" *cough*Famy*cough* I don't think they were paid for this last article or cover - likely  the REAL reason why Ben is mad on Jessa's behalf.

I, for one, don't believe that these People covers are a big payday for Jessa and Jill. I used to work for People magazine -- a long time ago, I admit -- and they did not pay for content. People has a huge audience, and people want to be in the magazine to keep their names in the public eye. As other posters have suggested, they may pay for "exclusive content," like the first pictures of baby Izzy, but I doubt it. There are way too many B- and C-List celebrities who are desperate to reamin in the public eye for People to resort to paying an F-Lister like Jessa Duggar for pictures of her baby bump.

The value of regular People exposure to Ben and Jessa is that it makes them desirable high-profile speakers and allows them to negotiate highter fees for speaking engagements. People will also pay to fly them to NYC, put them up in a decent hotel, comp their meals, and maybe offer tickets to a show (like Cinderella). I think that the biggest draw for Jessa and Jill is that they were going to be able to develop their own brands, beyond being one of "those Duggar kids."

I don't think that most of us can relate to the idea of 1) being one of 19 children and 2) being raised on reality TV. I think that the biggest plus for Jessa and Jill has been the opportunity to be interviewed as individuals (or as members of a couple rather than a mob), and to be photographed as individuals, and basically, to be treated as indiividuals apart from the Duggar circus.

So, yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if Jessa wanted to gouge Josh's eyes out. I don't think that she has enough experience as an independant adult to understand what this has done to her earning potential and how economically serious this is for her nascent family, but she does know that for a few months she got some attention, and that's all gone now, and it's all because of Josh.

Thanks for providing this perspective.

On this -- "I don't think that she has enough experience as an independant adult to understand what this has done to her earning potential and how economically serious this is for her nascent family"

I'm sure about that, since it seems she doesn't even understand the effect that marrying an unemployed teenager has on her nascent family. Just to name one tiny thing that appalls me about her lack of understanding -- all that eating out that she and Ben were doing early in their marriage (and may be doing still) even as they tried mightily to quickly become parents-to-be. If she'd had any understanding at all of how their financial situation was going to affect them and their children, she would have been madly tending a large vegetable-and-fruit garden and feeding the two of them on homegrown carrots and peanut-butter and baloney sandwiches.
