I have a FB friend that moved from Virginia to a small town in Mexico. She makes her own raw cat food and says the aging cat is acting like a kitten again. She's astoundingly healthy!  But Trish didn't say if she freezes the batches she makes for Futbol.

Any idea what she makes as I have a 20-year-old cat who could do with something she might eat.

I'll ask her. I know it involves a meat grinder and a whole chicken as part of the process.

She says it's most important to get the bones into smaller pieces so they don't jam the grinder. The grinder they use they got at Cabela's to make their own sausage. She says it's made for big game hunters, so it's VERY sturdy.

She uses an ice cream scoop to ladle out portions, flattens into pucks, freezes them. Each cat gets two pucks daily, breakfast & dinner. Ho Ho, being a white cat, is prone to health issues, but the vet is highly pleased at his robustness.

Good luck.  I haven't tried it because I don't have the freezer space.

I know this is so last week, but I was watching a Duke game on ESPN Monday and they were showing ads for people up for election in North Carolina.  I was watching in Syracuse New York.  WTF?

Try living here. I'm trying to figure out how local those NC commercials were, I know some of the candidates for state level positions were not great candidates with the campaign teams to match. Some of the ads I was subjected to for weeks were painfully bad.

I was under the impression they got into an argument about putting cat food in a fridge which contains human food.

That maybe what the argument is about, but my complaint about the commercials is that the idiots in them keep insisting that their dog food is not dog food and that annoys the hell out of me.  I don't care where they keep it, but it's still damned dog food.

Geico brought back the Caveman he's still annoying. Progressive needs to retire the Dr. Rick ads. He was funny at first now he's rude who cares if people want to talk about the weather?

Like, what the hell else are people supposed to talk about at cookouts?  There's the weather and yard care, both of which Dr. Rick has banned, and sports, I guess.  Although there's usually someone talking ad nauseum about their kids.

And some people just really love the Weather Channel.  It's not my thing, but there are worse subjects.  (Politics and religion.)

With the Fresh Pet commercials I think the implication is that the rude people questioning having dog food (yes, dog food) in the fridge don't like dogs.  I mean, would any pet owner freak out over seeing someone's dog's food in the fridge?  Clearly these people who are grossed out don't like dogs.  As such they deserve to be tossed out. 😄

Maybe, but the dog owners insisting that it isn't dog food when it very clearly is still come across as stupid.  Real people would just say that it has to be refrigerated.  Or, more likely, "why the hell do you care what's in fridge?".  Unless it's someone's head - everybody should care about that.  After running away, of course.

Did anyone know that Chipotle has brisket? I do, because the commercial telling me so is on all.the.time. In the wee hours the other morning, it played THREE TIMES in the same break! It was every other spot.

The irony is, I can't really take advantage even if I wanted to, because the nearest Chipotle to me is almost an hour away.

That's why they're telling you in the wee hours: to give you time to drive there when they open.

What TH is putting dog food in the fridge such a big deal?

All my life my family has put leftover dog & cat food in the fridge after the can is opened!

Doesn't everyone?

Its just common sense!🙄

I blame the whole dog food thing on advertising companies that only hire 20 year olds. They have limited life experience. They think you quilt with knitting needles. They think there was never a car/truck hybrid before the one they’ve been hired to advertise. And they’ve certainly never seen any of their friends put leftovers of any kind in the refrigerator, especially not dog food.

I don't like the Dr. Rick commercial telling people if anyone talks about lawn care he'll take care of it. It's a barbeque in the backyard of course their going to talk about lawn care.

At least they aren't talking about brisket!

I'm sick of the commercials for Mattress Firm.  They show someone being a complete jerk (like a guy on a plane taking his shoes and socks off and putting his feet on the seat of the person in front of him), so someone else asks them how they sleep.  They happily reply that they sleep great because of Mattress Firm.  I don't find these scenarios funny and it does not make me want to do business with this company.  It would be better if the people were being jerks because they didn't sleep and needed a new mattress.  I'm also a little annoyed with Lionel Richie, assuming he has the rights to licensing of his music, for letting them use "All Night Long" in the commercials.  He should have better taste than that, as I'm sure he gets lots of offers for the use of songs.

I also don't like the ads for Tubi where they emphasize that's it's free for everyone by showing the most reprehensible people they can think of, like these mobsters smashing all the antiques in an old man's shop, and saying it's even free for them.  I know these are supposed to be funny too, but they're not working on me!

The latest Burger King ad does not use The Guy Who Can't Sing. Is it possible his reign of terror has ended?

I surely hope so but I fear they’re giving us false hope.  There’s been at least one version without him floating around for a while now and I’m pretty sure I’ve heard Mr. Ironically Off-Key during football in the past week or two.

Like others above, I’m not a fan of the Xfinity commercials with the gamer son.  This is another in a line of ads for them (“alternative” Gen Z-ers, snotty pre-teen kids, the guy in the slow golf cart) that just look like they’re trying too hard, usually to be funny.

I don't mind the weather ones, myself, 'cause, as I said in the "favorite commercials" thread, I find them WAY too relatable :p.

But yeah, seeing the Geico cavemen coming back is a wild blast from the past.

Maybe we could sic Dr. Rick on him. You know, to keep people from becoming their prehistoric ancestors.

This should totally be the premise for a Saturday Night Live sketch. "You keep human heads in the fridge with your food?"

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the 'Particle'/men's skincare ads. I'm soooo sick of hearing 'most men over 40 look in their mirror and see this'.

The before pics make them all look hungover/much older, and the after pics show them with styled hair and great suits. Their skin looks the same in both.

Learn from us ladies, guys- there are no miracles in jars.

The one that annoys me most is the woman who yells at a kid, a kid mind you, that he can't make a basketball shot because he has "weak arms". When a man says, "How do you sleep at night?" we get the tag line because she sleeps just fine on a mattress from Mattress Firm. So, their message is even assholes can sleep well on their products. No thanks.

I hate all of those commercials. I'm sure those assholes would also sleep just fine on any other mattress because they don't care about hurting peoples feelings.

SoFi - a personal finance company.  They tell people to consolidate their loans (debts) into one new one with SoFi.  Followed by people saying things like "Now I'll be able to afford my dream wedding/that trip."  ie, We'll take on your debt and increase it, because God forbid we should encourage fiscal responsibility.  Do people really thing doing what is suggested means they will suddenly have more money?  No, they'll just have more debt.

Yes, I've seen one of those ads, and I was like - 'That's not how that works.'

The whole point of a consolidation loan is to try and take the balances from high interest credit cards/loans and roll them into one loan with a (hopefully) lower interest rate.  It doesn't suddenly give you a whole lot of money to have fun with.  It can, if done sensibly and responsibly, help make one's payments more manageable but it doesn't make the debts go away.

So yeah, those commercials are ridiculous.

The version with Two Truths and a Lie confuses me (or one of them? I think there might be more than one of those). The guy says that he has a secret twin, that Geico does something great, and that he can compel trees to bear fruit. Then he says that he made up the twin. So he can make trees bear fruit? Is that just a fancy way of saying he has a green thumb?

I hate the commercial where the guy meets the person who helped him with his Medicare advantage plan. He acts like she was the person who answered his 911 call after his psychotic neighbor boiled the fish in his koi pond and left dozens of dead gophers on his front lawn.

There's a slight chance I'm watching the ID channel too much ...

I wish Folgers would go back to embracing their pleasant little nostalgic jingle.  Ever since they started "not giving a damn about their reputation", I've found their commercials really unpleasant.  If I was ever tempted to buy Folgers, that temptation has ended.

Yeah, I don't associate "punk rock" with Folgers Coffee.

Those people with complex medical needs, multiple doctors, multiple medications, will really appreciate a good broker who helps them pick a plan. We've a family member with 6 doctors, on more than 10 meds. The broker was able to sort thru the fog and found the right plan for her. It can be very intimidating, especially when one insurance company drops an entire group of doctors & hospitals, months before Open Enrollment.
