Jer is a tonedeaf fame chaser. I don’t know if he even truly loves Jingle. He loves freebies and hearing himself talk.

I can’t help but wonder if he’s a little jealous that Jinger isn’t testifying at the trial. Just think of the media coverage of the two of them attending the trial and the accolades afterwards with their fans praising them for being so brave and honest.

And there’s no way in hell Jeremy knew who Virgil Abloh was. Since the man designed tennis shoes, and since all the other celebrities [snert] were doing it, Jer probably thought it’d be hip to post his photo. How tacky.

Didn't Abloh and Kanye work together quite a bit? Maybe Jeremy stumbled across him and his work during his brief Kanye stage.

Not that I think Jeremy is sincerely a fan, but I could believe the only homework he does is related to either burgers or fashion.

Maybe my priorities are screwy but with the trial going on what is the need to post such inane stuff?  Why not just lay low for a while and Jeremy be sensitive to your wife who is a victim in this mess.

Jeremy be sensitive to anyone other than Jeremy??  Surely you jest!

Well he would have a place to showcase his fabulous footwear collection and pocket scarves. He’d probably go shopping grifting for more.

Who thinks Jinger knew anything about Diehard before Jeremy mentioned it? And has she really watched it?

I have a hard time believing she's still watched Die Hard. Between "Yippee-ki-yay, motherfucker," the 80s insistence on random nudity, and all the violence, I would think she'd be pretty uncomfortable. But if she did watch it, I hope she at least appreciated vintage Rickman villainy at its finest!

Oh, he is major jealous. I'm sure Jeremy would love nothing more than to strut in and out of the courthouse in a power suit and pocket square, playing the role of protective husband as Jinger toddles behind. Right now, everyone is on Reddit thinking Derick shits glitter and rainbows for standing up to Boob ( never mind that the narrative is completely incorrect). Jeremy would kill for this kind of publicity.

I agree....Jeremy must lay awake at night weighing the pros and cons of having Jinger at the trial.  Pros: Jeremy would be able to model his tailored suits, with the pants just short enough to showcase his colorful socks - not to mention, he could sit in the courtroom and doodle pictures of his own face write poems to Cade take serious notes using his very best fountain pen and leather-bound journal.  Cons: it would mean that his wife would have to speak publicly about a horrible time in her life.

Ha, just kidding.  There would be no "cons" for Jeremy if it meant he was getting his picture taken by the paps and his name was in print somewhere, anywhere.

Is it just me, or did Jinjer have a genuine smile in the early days of her marriage?  All I see now is a smirk or a smug look, both unflattering to say the least.

That jumpsuit DOES look like she's about to change someone's oil at a garage!  Ugh.

I’m enjoying the fact that Jeremy is either not in the pictures or only a part of him is visible. I would prefer only seeing pics of their feet and torsos lol. Hide the adult faces just like the kids. I don’t want to look at their smug mugs anymore.

I think I should stop looking at this thread... the Vuolos annoy me too much!

My take on this is pretty different.

I agree completely that Jeremy would kill for publicity. Almost any publicity. Of all of the Duggars/Duggarlings/Duggar adjacents, he strikes me as the single most hungry for fame - even more so than Jim Bob. Specifically Hollywood/L.A. style fame, though he wouldn't object to some sort of prominent religious position either.

Which is exactly why I think that he doesn't want to be anywhere near this trial even if it would provide him with an excuse to wear a power suit and comment on Arkansas burgers. I would even say he's probably one of the people most ticked off/upset about this trial. Because he's been in the Hollywood/L.A. area long enough to know that those people - particularly entertainment studio executives - are certainly willing to overlook/forgive all kinds of awful to horrific behavior, and not just from the extremely famous/powerful, either.

But one of the very few places where Hollywood/L.A. draws the line is with notorious trials. And this qualifies in every single respect. Add in the CSA aspect, and yeah, I really don't think that Jeremy wants to be associated with this in the slightest.

We were watching NBC last night and there was a Peacock commercial with Die Hard.  My mom said she needs to watch it to see if it's a Christmas movie.  I wanted to immediately pick up the remote and show her, but it was after 10 and we both had to work this morning.  We will have to wait until Friday night.  IMHO, it's just as much of a Christmas movie as It's a Wonderful Life.

It's definitely one! And Alan Rickman saying "ho ho ho" automatically makes it a great one. 😁

While in LA last week daughter and I drove by MacArthur's church.  She said that's where Jinger and Jeremy go isn't it?  I said yes.  She went how long do they hope to maintain a church for mainly older, white people out here on the edge of Pacoima?

What's in Pacoima? I'm not familiar.

In general, no, but I'll repeat what I said earlier: this guy is in Hollywood/L.A., and he's ambitious for fame/a show/speaking gigs/etc. He interacts with other D/E listers and at least one person with some connections with AT&T/WarnerMedia, and he has a Big Five publisher and probably both a literary agent and an entertainment agent.

He knows damn well that association with CSA/CSAM is one of the few things that can lead to actually getting blacklisted/greylisted in Hollywood.  He's already facing an uphill battle because he's conservative and boring. I don't think he's going to take any risks.

Too late - he already has the association with CP due to marrying a Duggar daughter. Not fair, but he chose it. He can’t use the Duggar connection to increase his “fame” and followers, but avoid being associated with their failures. It just don’t work that way 🤷‍♀️
ETA- he started courting Jinger after the first 2 Josh scandals, right?

I'm pretty sure he did. IIRC excerpts in their book had some passage from him about how he was shocked someone who had been through what Jinger had been through could still be so something. I can't remember the exact details--I just remember how condescending it was. it was clearly meant to be sweet and flattering, but it wasn't. Which is very on brand for him.

I don't know/remember when they started courting. But he could excuse the first set of molestations as "teenage curiosity" - I mean, his in-laws were doing just that. The second scandal is the sort of thing Hollywood ignores all the time. And he had just seen his in-laws manage to get themselves back on television despite all that. And he courted/married Jinger before he went to L.A./Hollywood.

This, though, is a federal trial that isn't just garnering significant publicity; it's proving that this wasn't just "teenage curiosity." Not nearly as easy to dismiss.

Edited to add: I'm also just going to note that I think the CP connection has already impacted their attempts to be successful in Hollywood. Not doomed, because they're just adjacent to it, but impacted. This trial is not going to help.

Honestly I don't think scandals have hurt them really. Their own ineptness at social media and influencing is why they've not gotten anywhere. They've careened from one botched sponsor to the next and zoomed through so many half-baked business ideas they abandon within weeks or months that they are basically a walking red flag. They're like a whole Soviet parade of red flags. Lol

a brother in law on trial for child pornography charges doesn't help, but it's hardly like they were on the ascent until the spector of Josh brought them down.

Exactly. They may tell themselves that the Josh scandal is the only reason they aren’t popular, but that’s bullshit. Their own incompetence has been more than enough to ensure they remain on the Z-list.

Well, no, and everything you are saying about their ineptness/various issues is true. And this ongoing attempt to be both pretentious and relatable is not helping.

But it's also a bit of a chicken/egg thing, because I think part of why this is happening is that the scandals - and, yes, Jeremy sticking with certain political views which are definitely not endorsed by mainstream Hollywood, and I'm not just talking conservatism here - has made it harder for them to find better sponsors and a decent PR person and a business manager.

And the brother-in-law on trial for pornography charges directly slammed right into one of the few projects they did complete - that first book.

So, yeah, I think they're going to be cautious here. And then they will slide right back into being inept, except attached to an even larger scandal this time.

I agree the charges hurt them on the book--the timing was horrible--but their main problem is they won't pursue sponsors who are actually compatible with their beliefs. There are conservative Christian companies they could affiliate with who would probably gladly have them. But that's not good enough for Jeremy, so he instead pursues sponsors who are inevitably going to drop them as soon as their beliefs are brought to the business's attention. The influencer version of champagne taste on a beer budget. Lol

I've talked about this before but they have absolutely no real persona or audience. If they wanted to be trendy fundie lite homies living it up in California, that could work. If they wanted to be hoity toity Christian intellectuals, that could work. If they wanted to be a wholesome but boring family who plays board games and peddles a bland podcast about faith, that could work. But they never can pick a lane and stay in it, and they can't seem to accept that those lanes come with their limits.

J & J may live in LA, but that's where their association with Hollywood stops. They're two, two-bit reality TV 'stars'. Even if they found a successful path, their success will never be anything on par with anything considered 'Hollywood'.

And if they haven't learned anything about how to improve the situation by now -- and they haven't -- they're not going to. They're clearly very reluctant learners and quite unteachable as well as inept.

That said, though, Jer clearly is a quite talented toady and a talented identifier of people who like to be toadied to. So I think he'll almost certainly find a new person to toady for even after MacArthur shuffles off. He won't reach his big goal -- fame and prominence -- but you can make a quite reasonable living being a suckup. He probably won't be really happy, but he'll still be able to buy some stuff.

(grins)

Nah, they're very definitely Hollywood/trying to be. I'd even say they're almost a parody of a certain Hollywood type who will never make the A-list, or even the C-list, but won't stop trying, or reminding you of their appearances on some barely successful show or that one time they were an AD on some studio production. This whole jumping from one half-baked idea to the next? Very Hollywood. This whole "oh, can you believe the paps caught me while I was grocery shopping?" Again, very, very Hollywood.

Their non-compete presumably ends in about three months. I doubt much will come of it, but they're shopping themselves around.

But the big question is what is suitable for them?  I could see them rejecting anything similar to Marriage Bootcamp as being too secular.  I doubt anyone is interested in some sort of Counting On reboot - "We're in LA - All the bad is in AR - J&J Moving on Up" - but that's the only thing I can see happening for them.  What else is there?
