My grandkids got those in their Easter basket. They enjoyed them for about 5 minutes & never wore them again.
I doubt Jer & Jing wore them for any longer than it took to snap a picture before handing them off to Felicity and Evangeline.

But yeah, liking Kanye is just like that.  Jeremy & Jing should have better taste.

I'm pretty sure one of MacArthur's houses is at a golf course in Palos Verdes. Jer must still be successfully sucking up.

Aside from how hard Jer seems to work at sucking up compared to his work effort for other things, the only explanation I've heard that seems kind of plausible to me is that between the accreditation scare, the flap over the social justice letter, the serious SEC fraud accusations against his son, and his COVID doings, MacArthur has faced so much criticism from so many quarters over the past few years that he's now consumed by paranoia. And that in response he's assumed a full-time super-combative stance toward his "enemies," which tends to be accompanied by a total-warfare us-them mentality that demonizes opponents while embracing all his perceived friends like crazy......

And maybe since Jer went out of his way to be perceived as one of the friends just as this whole pile of threats started he -- kind of accidentally -- got himself counted on the "good friends" side and now continues to reap the benefits from that? I'm sure he continues to say lots and lots of suckup stuff and very little else, too. 

Here's what an "image repair analyst" (😁) says about JM's recent behavior --

"According to image repair analyst, Dr. Julia Dahl, MacArthur is using image repair tactics that leaders commonly use when caught in a crisis. Dr. Dahl says MacArthur’s statements are a “form of denial via deflection”—a way to insure that the charges against the “offender/person in crisis” are ignored and attention instead deflected to the group making the charges.

'“It is a way of saying, ‘The charges are not what matters. What matters is that these people are evil and trying to destroy me.’ Bill Hybels did this. James MacDonald did this. Yes, MacArthur is behaving like other frauds.” Dahl added that MacArthur, by crafting a narrative that evil people are attacking him, is employing another common tactic: triangulation.

This stuff is so interesting, and bizarre, and cultish.  It's like - why would Jeremy want to tie himself to such a controversial figure when Jeremy himself doesn't seem to be doing anything to align himself with JM except grift his living quarters, lots of free golf, and apparently a very good per diem to be able to eat grass-fed ice cream and locally sourced cheeseburgers every day?  I haven't seen Jeremy posting any IG Lives about how he's standing by his man or anything.  He's just enjoying the benefits.  And what good does Jere do for JM?  Again, I haven't seen Jeremy taking much of a stand on anything related to his mentor/boss, so what does JM need him for?  The relationship between the two only seems to benefit Jeremy, but he's doing nothing to earn those benefits (that we see or know of).

It all seems very shady.

Seems shady to me, too. But there are various photos out there of Jer at church and at some other Grace Church and seminary events, and, to my eye, he has these super-respectful and kinda solemn or obsequiously smiley looks on his face all the time.....

So I picture him being there and looking very supportive and "yes sirring" all over the place. And in this situation, that might be enough, I think. That voice of his -- that sounds both smarmy and dull when he's preaching -- can probably come off as successfully-Uriah-Heepish when applied in soft suck-uppy agreements as he nods and smiles to the embattled potentate. 

On the other hand, Jer may have been careful in the early going to find out where a body or two was buried. 😁

Jer/Jing are promising surprise guest speakers at the book club meetings. Who is desperate but interesting enough to do this? Cade and Gabby are interesting but not desperate. Maybe a Duggar will appear. 

The book club is also billed as a chance to join "a community of readers." The excerpts I've read are at a fourth-grade reading level, so I'm laughing here. 

Today is the first meeting. Has anyone here signed up?

I've always felt like that Jeremy was there because he actually agrees with MacArthur. But he also is a moral coward who likes being liked and likes fancy things, so he doesn't say the quiet parts out loud and hopes everyone pays more attention to him. (In this, he is doomed to fail because he is terribly uninteresting.) There's a lot of criticism and cancelling of his influencer efforts that could have been fought against by him saying what he was being accused of thinking/believing wasn't true. I think he didn't defend himself in that way because he shares MacArthur's thoughts and doesn't want to own that. He just wanted people to shut up and admire him stuffing his face with doughnuts instead of delving into his beliefs.

Wow.  So Jeremy is a fraud through and through.  He's living the poser high life in LA because he's aligned with a despicable man whose beliefs he shares in secret - because if he revealed his true self, no one would want to watch him shove expensive food into his face or order from his vast catalog of caps and candles or read his book or admire his pocket squares.

And he claims to want to be a pastor?  Don't most pastors need to have the courage of their convictions?  Jeremy wants to have his convictions under the pretense of being so cool and hip, no one will really care what's underneath.  He really is a coward.

I'll bet he's still telling himself that his big break will happen any day now and that his stardom will inevitably eclipse hers. He probably makes a fool of himself at events like this, pestering record executives that he wouldn't be able to meet on his own.

I predict that once he realizes that he's going nowhere, he'll announce that he's putting his own career "on hold" to become his wife's manager. He'll strut around like a big shot, taking credit for her success and helping himself to a "management fee" on every dime she makes. Eventually, she'll wise up, overcome her Fundie mindset and divorce him.

Well the metallic gold stuff seems to be all over the red carpets this year. 

...But I guess her publicist must have suggested going with the color trend in an avant-gardish design...and it apparently worked for her. (her publicity people seem to be on the ball) Here's the USA Today headline! --

I agree. Artsy and out-there works for statuesque models who are used to being seen in weird runway looks. Gabby is a cute girl, but she's sort and still shedding baby weight. The dress got her the attention she wanted, but wasn't particularly becoming.

Eta: I wonder if it burns Jeremy up that Cade is living an A-list life thanks to Gabby, while Jeremy is hawking fountain pens and ice cream? That's gotta be a kick in the teeth.
