as long as she shares the same beliefs, which she hasn't stated that she doesn't, she should be punished and penalized for that. I don't have time for companies who don't or who partner with people who literally think me + the majority my friends should burn in hell for not falling in line with her very narrow world belief. 

Just because she's wears pants, dyes her hair, and moves to a VERY liberal state doesn't mean she's just changed her beliefs 100%. She's still just as deep in her parents rhetoric.

Well, to be fair, the fallout is just as much over Jeremy's views--and the organization he has chosen to align himself with--as much as her parents' views. Jinger has never indicated she disagrees with either Jeremy or her parents, and I seriously doubt she does. If she does disagree with them, she should grow a pair and speak up.

I would be surprised if Jinger ever, even once, sat back and thought an independent thought, let alone one whereby she might disagree with Headship1 or Headship2. They had those tendencies trained right out of them as children and I can’t see RFP encouraging her to do anything now that might dent his fragile ego.

Jeremy's not a victim. He's made a conscious decision to follow MacArthur. As I've noted before, Jinger has always been a follower. Jeremy's beliefs are her beliefs. As they seem to be benefiting from the lifestyle at this point in time, I'm sure she questions nothing. Wait until they have to start paying their own rent and funding the lifestyle themselves. Things may not look so pretty then.

We live in the era of SM. If you pick a lane and then decide it's not the right one, you need to make it clear. With that said, pretty much no matter what anyone does or says, there's going to be haters and trolls.

I'm guessing it's ego, money, or both that keeps the J & J's of the world, putting themselves out there. Not to give them credit for being SM idiots, but I don't think being an influencer is for sissies.

She's not suffering. She and Jer are conducting a money-making business. And what they're offering for pay got rejected by a company this time. That happens to everybody who offers goods or services in return for pay.

They're offering their images -- and some of their attributes, like her name "Jinger," out of which you could make the word "jingerbread" -- to serve as advertising icons for other people's businesses.

They're asking to be paid to have their semi-famous faces either appear in public or be photographed and then displayed with their names on them in connection with various companies -- in the expectation that their faces and names will increase business for those companies. 

Their publicist is apparently trying to broker these deals without giving any more details about Jinger and Jeremy beyond the fact that they're young Christian parents in the LA area who have a cute little girl and photograph pretty well. 

The bakery stupidly took them up on that when their publicist presented the deal. But then the bakery found out that many people in their clientele knew much more about Jinger and Jeremy than the bakery owners had learned.

A lot of their customers told the bakery owners more facts about Jeremy and Jinger -- such as, perhaps, that Jeremy works for and embraces the ideas of a massive misogynist who preaches that parents should cut off their gay children to the point of refusing to eat a dinner with them and that Jinger and Jeremy are very much the public faces of that guy's church (and seminary, in Jer's case).

A lot of bakery customers and would-be customers pointed out to the bakery owners that Jinger's and Jeremy's professed beliefs and their position as the public face of beliefs like that are completely at odds with the image the bakery presents of itself. And that was correct. So the bakers called off the deal. Nobody wants to pay someone who symbolizes beliefs they and their customers firmly disagree with to be the face of their company.  Because most likely that won't just fail to increase their sales....it's likely to decrease them.  

The business owners should have done more research, of course.

However, hiring a publicist to make these deals for you probably feels pretty similar to hiring an accountant to do your taxes. You figure they're going to do the research and finish the work appropriately....You figure they're professionals so you shouldn't have to check their work.....Unfortunately, in this case they were wrong in that assumption.....And they've fired their publicist who failed to do due diligence here -- he's the person being punished, and he deserves to be. He didn't do his job. I assume the bakers have now learned their lesson and will vet people better the next time. 

Like the bakers, Jinger and Jeremy also didn't do everything they needed to do in this situation. They're trying to make business deals to make a living by acting as advertisements for other people's business. So as far as I can see, it's also clearly their responsibility to give people a clear explanation of who they are and what they stand for and what other affiliations they have -- because you shouldn't be the advertising icon for a business that doesn't agree with your -- well known --  fundamental beliefs.

Now, Jeremy and Jinger either didn't do this in this instance or at least didn't make it clear to their publicist that he should do it.

Probably partly because they're very eager to start making good money as influencers -- which, in the case of celebrities, means making money as advertising icons, not as subject-matter experts or the like. And, I suppose, also because they don't realize that a fair number of businesses won't consider their views and their connections to be something they want to feature in their advertising. I hope by now they realize that this is the case, though, and that they and  their publicist are more careful about these deals in the future. 

Nobody except the bakery's publicist got punished. And he deserved it.

Jinger and Jer didn't get punished. They simply failed to secure a business deal they wanted. But anyone who's in business fails to secure deals they want -- usually lots of them. It's unfortunate that the deal ever got as far as it did before falling through, of course......But Jinger and Jeremy and the bakery owners and both their publicists bear some blame for that. Hopefully they've all learned from this. 

Nobody is a suitable advertising icon for everyone's business. And if you're far out of the current mainstream -- as Jer and Jingle are -- you're going to be unsuitable as a face-of-our-brand for many many businesses. That's how advertising works. And if that's the career they're choosing to pursue, they need to realize that this is how it works and tailor their business practices accordingly.

I spent quite a bit of time looking them both up last night.  Actually they are very good singers and both released records recently.

She's making money off of being a "Duggar." If she wants to be her own person and express views outside of her parents' beliefs, she's free to do that. She hasn't, though.

I, for one, would not do business with any business that the Duggars endorsed. I have no issue doing business with people whose views differ from my own, but the Duggars are deeply immoral people who are aggressively hostile toward people who disagree with them, and who are politically active in their aspirations to deny human rights to others.

I agree.  Seamstresses are a thing if you need a tweak here or there to get it just right.  I had to, and it was worth it.  Don't go to the bridal shop, get one you love but is a little off looking and then flash your wedding guests, lol.

both male chauvinists who are obsessed with their looks and fond of things like bow ties, in Jer's case, and long curly hair, in Cade's;

both convinced that they're quite handsome, charismatic and hot (they're not, but neither of them knows this);  

both proud of a family tradition with conservative Calvinist preachers in it;

and both thinking about a future in which they use the talents they imagine they have (and Cade actually does have some pretty strong musical talent) to become the living heirs of the family Calvinist-preacher tradition and gain the fame they desire as founders of a super-trendy conservative-Calvinist-media-friendly-megachurch-for-the-young with Cade's (and Gabby's) music and Cade's and Jer's preaching. (and two pretty, submissive wives to be the fluffy bows on the package)

Given the preoccupations of both and the messages they publicly exchanged, I'd be shocked if they didn't giggle over this fantasy future together and even have some hope they might obtain it.
