 I’m really going to enjoy watching Jeremy graduate from seminary into… Nothing?    At least he’ll have pockets squares to wipe his brown nose clean.

He acknowledged someone who gave his child a balloon by name and title. I don't consider that to be brown-nosing. Brown-nosing would be "Felicity was given a balloon by the great and talented and always inspirational _______. He always gives the best sermons and inspires me to be better". or something along those lines. Really I think Jeremy could say "Hey here's a guy holding my kid" and get lambasted for it.

I don't remember perpendicular. 

I get the feeling this is aimed as a middle of the road political statement. Don't shoot people; be nice to them instead! But don't criticize our leaders for doing nothing either!

I don't feel the least bit inspired by this statement, at least in any positive sense.

I was surprised by all the positive comments to this Twitter post because it is so middle of the road.  I don't expect Jeremy to go against MacArthur and specifically call out white supremacy though.  Jeremy is going to parrot whatever his idol says.

That is an Apple laptop. It’s running Mac OS. Looks to be one of the current generation of MacBook Pro. 

The teacher is draining the life out of me through that picture. At least we can count on Reverend Pompas Ass to be himself in class.

 I'm pretty sure I read that some administrative staff got laid off as a result of the accreditation brouhaha ... So that may account for some administrative details getting, uh, lost in the brouhaha ... lol

Every time I've looked at the website, their big tagline grinds my gears: "We Train Men Because Lives Depend On It." ..... The crucial nature of putting more sexist, misogynist preachers out into the world escapes me, I'm afraid. ... The big stress on training MEN drives me nuts. "It's OUR treehouse. GURLZ STAY OUT!"

And "Lives Depend On It" just seems silly when you're not training first responders or something. Although I'm sure they mean "eternal lives."

I notice that "Preaching" is by John MacArthur. So I expect Jer actually has about 20 copies squirreled away somewhere.....   ;  )

It doesn't look like the book is his, because it's on top of another computer. Those tables are normally two person tables so he should have a seatmate to the side. I don't understand the social media question, it's posted from his account.

Jeremy claims he has no access to social media accounts on his phone.  He uses Jinger's phone.  Too much temptation to be on his phone all day or too much temptation of women?          Sorry I wasn't clearer. 

How does this work if he is in class?  He texted the photo to Jinger and she posted it? Is that how Jeremy posts things?

Well he's using a computer. I'm assuming he sent himself the image and posted it through the web interface. Unless he's also said he doesn't use social media on his computer.

 That’s probably what happened. These people love the letter of the law but not the spirit of the law.  Posting from the web interface is totally different than posting from a cell phone. Just like you’re not “watching TV “if you’re watching Netflix through to a laptop instead of a 50 inch screen. 

  Just wait, in a few years he will be explaining to Jingle about how oral sex technically isn’t sex.

Unless there's a different version for a verified account, you can't upload photos from the web version. You can view your timeline, notifications, and other people's stories, but you can't actually upload without the app. I guess he could have a desktop app (like Flume - we use it at work for our work Instagram), but that seems like a lot of work to seem like you don't care enough about social media to keep Insta on your phone.

I think when he said he didn't have social media on his phone he was lying.  I doubt he even considered it as a lie.  I think he's already joined that special group of people who hold themselves up as examples of how to behave while breaking those rules in their everyday lives. 

Jeremy seems to be well versed in the fine art of 'do as I say, not as I do, and don't point out when what I do is not what I say.'  You know the type.  He's probably got his own set of rules that are just for him, because he's above those he's trying to lead.  He tells his male followers to avoid social media until their Godly wives can check up on what they want to post.  (If they're not married, I guess he hopes they have Godly mothers to give them the okay.) 

But Jeremy is a cut above them, and although he has a Godly wife, she's not as worldly as he, which is to be applauded.  But as a leader of men (and their families), and he's more worldly than Jinger, he has to both lead others in the ways of his Lord, and protect his wife at the same time.  Rather than explain his unique predicament, he simply says "I don't have social media, I run it through my wife to make sure it's fine and proper and aligned to the ways of my Lord.  You should do the same."  Then he tells himself that Jinger shouldn't be exposed to such things, she's busy being his wife and mother of his child, he knows better than her anyway, and it's a bloody pain to call her up or run home to check with her when he sees a great deal on pocket squares...  And there you go.

It will be interesting if we find that in the years to come Jeremy has a lot of interests that he has decided not to share with his wife or followers, and then has to come up with his own version of "Satan built a fortress in my heart (Satan wouldn't have attacked me if he weren't so scared of my closeness to God).  I have confessed to God (and since I haven't been struck by lightening, I assume he forgives me), to my church (they're used to this sort of thing, as long as no one does something to send us all to jail), and my wife (blame Jinger, the frigid idiot didn't even know how to dress herself until I came along).  Now I must ask for forgiveness from you (suckers).  God has forgiven me (so you might as well, also, because our religion says so).  I will devote the rest of my life to rebuilding the trust between us (I trust that you will keep funding my lifestyle while I claim I'm better than you.  After all, Satan built a fucking fortress in my heart because I was such a threat to him!)  I'm going to take some time off (I hear Fiji is nice this time of year) to pray and understand better what the Lord wants me to do (not get caught again), but I hope to return soon to join our work (I've got some interesting fundraising ideas) in the furtherance of God's will (God willing, I'll soon be back in the saddle again.  Like I'd ever ride a horse, but if I did it would be a pedigree thoroughbred, large, chestnut or black with perfect conformation and markings, and my saddle would be bespoke from the finest saddler, made with hand tooled leather, silver trim, Swarovski crystal bling, and a place for my Gucci pocket squares!)"

You can, it just takes some maneuvering through the "Tools" menu on your browser (said by someone with an Instagram account but not a smartphone...)

Okay. I'll say it again. There's money in the Vuolo family somewhere. Among Chuck, Diana and their three kids over age 30, there's not ONE of the five who has a career that actually pays anything ... or seems to have had such a career ever, or at least for quite some time. 

Playing violin in small rock-folk-jazz bands? Writing and directing indie films on gender and immigration issues? Preaching -- along with another pastor -- in a teensy tiny church and focusing on converting the Amish? Founding your own musical charity for children? Truncated periods on a few pro sports teams then being a beginning preacher in a tiny church and then studying for the ministry while living in a $675,000 house? And yet they're all well dressed, they travel, nobody seems to struggle in the least. And there seems to have been no early angst as any of the kids set out on these fun-but-very-dicey career paths that they're all still on, apparently happily, when they're in their 30s. 

Someone somewhere in one of their clans has a great big nest egg and it's helping sustain them all. 

Jingle married secret money. Ironically, she's also one of the Duggarlings who'll have the fewest children. Lucky Jingle's children.

I don't know @Churchhoney, about family money. They all seem to live modestly and Jeremy was in a tiny 2 bedroom apartment before he met Jinger.

This house has me curious though, $4000 a month rent or a nearly $3500 a month mortgage seems very steep. It doesn't seem likely it's TLC money unless somehow J & J negotiated a great contract with them.

I also find it odd that not even super sleuths can find out what's truly in the contracts of reality show folks. It appears to be a tightly kept secret.

Since I don't watch the show, I'm in the dark here. What's been shown that shows that Chuck, Diana and the two older kids live modestly?

(and, to my mind, given what they all do as professions means they need to live very modestly indeed, unless they've got a bit of cash coming in from somewhere! ... 😊 )

Also, I guess I'm thinking that some people choose to spend a large nest egg differently. You might choose to live in a much more modest house than you could actually afford -- but still spent the money, just on different priorities. 

 LIke, in this case, perhaps their choice is to spend it allowing everybody to pursue a career of passion and not anything the makes money. And I'm not just talking about the kids -- although to me it's a rare family where all the kids gaily take up, for life apparently, careers that are really chancy in teh money realm. But, in this case, so do mom and dad. Chucks's "church" is tiny tiny tiny and does not seem to serve a congregation with much money at all -- and he's a co-pastor with another guy. There can't be any money in that. And to be a stay-at-home mom and then start a charity of the kind Diana's got -- she certainly has to know a fair number of people with serious money -- and very often that's a sign that you have some money in your background as well, as far as I've seen. ... 

I'm just baffled by the apparently casual way in which a whole family has opted for careers that don't seem to carry much of a paycheck at all. And yet they all look well dressed and well coifed. The youngest son loves designer clothes and doesn't seem to think the $85 pocket square is a big deal ...... There just seem to me to be expectations here that would be odd coming from people who didn't have at least a fairly major pile of something to fall back on ...

They had about $90-100k equity in the Laredo house, which I imagine is being used to pay the rent now. I don't think they have the cash to be paying off a $575k mortgage. The show doesn't pay *that* well, what with the pot being divvied up several different ways.

That actually sounds really inexpensive to me.  A condo (2 bed) would cost more than that where I am (90 min north).  Not that I could afford it but surprised it is so low.
