I've made a t-shirt quilt and it's pretty damn difficult, even though I've been sewing for about 40 years and quilting for about 20.

T-shirts stretch, so you can't just cut up squares and stitch them together.  They have to be cut precisely and then stabilized with a woven interfacing layer so the seams don't distort.  Then they have to be sewn together precisely so the intersections match.  They look simple to people who have never tried to put one together.

I made mine long before there were companies doing it commercially.  I would absolutely use of them if I wanted a quilt for somebody.  It's a lot of work.

I think it was a very thoughtful gift for Jerm, and I like her advertising Project Repat.

There is zero doubt in my mind that Jeremy saved all that crap as a monument to his brilliant soccer career.

Is anything ever just about Jinger? I realize she’s the photographer but it’s all baby, Jeremy, or Jeremy with baby, with an occasional requisite nod to Duggar 1.0.

He wants to remind her she married a former brilliant soccer playing dud...err...I meant stud.

I just can't figure out, for the life of me, why this dude didn't become a doctor, lawyer, or banker. I mean, he didn't even try any of these careers! It's not like he started med school and failed, so it must not have been the plan. I could see him basking in the self-importance of a medical career, the $$$ of banking, and the library of a lawyer. Why in the world would this guy want to be a minister? It's okay, Jer. Being a pastor isn't for everybody. You can be a really, really devout Christian, and work in another field that brings in a lot of money. I just can't imagine why he didn't choose a stereotypically lucrative job!

Because those careers require years of work and skill with a low probability of fame. It's not enough for him to have a high paying gig and prestige within the small sphere of a particular profession. He wants a rapt audience on a large scale without having to actually know how to do much except quote the bible and assorted religious figures and know how to schmooze with the right people.  And yes, I know I sound dismissive of that type of work. Sure, it has it's place, but it's not putting in years of hard work, brutal exams, and low pay before finally being rewarded like with medicine and law.

But isn't it normal to save that stuff? My brother has played soccer for over 20 years, however never professionally, and our mom saved his soccer shoes and jerseys over the years until he was a young adult and responsible for things like that. I only did ballet for two years and my mom still kept my ballet shoes and first ballet dress. I actually think it's a very nice idea of Jinger to use these pieces and turn them into a blanket. Personally, I find nothing to criticize about that gesture.

I kept the jerseys but not all the cleats, only the ones that still fit. I framed in a shadow box my grandson’s first town rec. league baseball shirt. He was 4 yrs.old. He’s kept the same number during all his school years and it was one of only a few that had his name on the back as well as the number.

His uncle, my other son, recently gave him a bunch of his original  LED Zeppelin, Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd tees. Grandson loves their music and gets compliments  every time he wears one. They will make a great quilt one day although The Rolling Stones tee is getting kind of ragged.

My younger son has been playing soccer since he was five - throughout elementary and high school, played college soccer, and has been on various teams since being in the Marines as well...I don't think I have any of his old t-shirts. He may have a few, but threw out most of what he didn't need anymore after joining the Marines and knowing he would probably have a number of moves in his future. We also tended to pare things down quite a bit for all our military moves, so don't have quite the mementos that a lot of families have in all those boxes and bins.

This. I have moved a zillion times and have kept almost zero mementos.

My parents moved once in 50 years and kept everything (I know, since I’m the one who got to clear it all out when they finally went to assisted living), but they kept nothing about the children. I was in ballet for years, my sister competed quite successfully in dressage...nothing.

It may just be an individual family thing.

On the other hand, I can totally see Jerry keeping all that stuff and taking it out and fondling it all while murmuring, “precious” because he is that guy.

In my head, I’ve started calling him Jermy because, no matter how much he tries to hide behind nice clothes, he is still just gross.

Eta: I’m not very creative, so I probably saw him called that here before, but I have no idea who to give the credit to.

It also doesn't say much for his brain power that he doesn't realize that.

Der -- smarter than Bin but that's not saying much.  Jer -- smarter than Der and Bin but that's not saying much.

I’m always so surprised that you only get kicked out of church for being gay. Murder a few people, knock over a couple of jewelry stores, bang your neighbor’s wife: it’s all good. But come out of the closet and it’s Armageddon for you. It makes no sense to me.

Because a lot of men are terrified by homosexuality in our culture (wasn't the same in ancient Greece, for example, as we know....)

...but most of the same men (secretly) fantasize happily about  fooling around with their friend's hot wife and getting away with it! -- (adultery!); getting a lot of great stuff for nothing and even depriving other people of that great stuff and getting away with it -- (theft and all kinds of unfairness!); and badly hurting people you hate or are jealous of or fear or despise for some reason and getting away with it (murder!).....

The things that scare the people in power (for whatever reason) are the things that most churches come down hardest on, seems to me. Not surprising, I guess, because the people in power have power over the churches, too.

You forgot molest your sisters a few times and blame it on the devil. Get caught looking at porn and secretly cheat on your wife, and you are more concern about God being angry with you instead of worrying God will be angry with you because you violated your own sisters. I do not understand the concept myself. I guess I am a terrible heathen because I secretly would like to slap JB, Michelle and Smugs until I cannot feel my hands anymore.

Ah, yes. Let's all imitate Meeechelle Duggar.

I don't think you even mean that, Jer, so you should have found something different to say, seems to me. If somebody were to molest Felicity, would you want everyone to sweep it under the rug?

And when Felicity's seven, how will you feel if Jingle hands off care of her six-month-old baby brother to her? ... Or how about when the baby brother's in third grade, and Jingle stops teaching him and tells Felicity just to make sure he completes the computer tests?

Is that what you mean by being well worth imitating?

Just asking.

Wow that's got to be one of the most unflattering pictures of Jermy thus far.  That facial expression looks like he's smelling a loaded diaper.   That giant green "gift-wrap" style bow looks silly of Felicitee.   Jinger looks gorgeous!

I believe women should dress as they want. Women should wear what makes them feel good and comfortable.  I don't believe we slut shame women for what they wear. I don't think a woman's clothing should impact how women are treated.

However Jinger is part of a family where they used to go on and on about being more modest dressers than the rest of us, and the importance of modesty, and on and on etc.  I also know Jinger has kind of left that cult where they harp women's clothes. But Jinger also praises Michelle over and over and Michelle is obsessed with modest clothes. Jinger hasn't renounced old beliefs formally and that means to me she's still one of the "modest" Duggars.

I like the shirt and I think Jinger looks great. However it isn't what I would call "modest" if I can see the whole bra underneath.

Michelle looks great in the picture with Felicity. It's also a good picture of Diana. I wish it was just a picture Jinger and Felicity without Jeremy. The Maxwells also went with one picture of Teri and one picture of Teri and Steve on their Mother's Day blog.

Yeah, and it's been posted more than once. I don't remember if it was Jer or Jingle who posted it before.

He looks like he's fighting off an imminent bowel movement or having some kind of excruciating gas pain. I'm surprised they keep posting it. I'd think they;d notice his horrible grimace. I know they have shots of the three of them where all three look fine.

This is not a new photo?  Must have been a "down" day and they weren't spiffed up enough to take a fresh mother's day shot.   I guess they can't be camera ready 24/7  sigh

I saw it sometime in the last week, probably. I remembered it because of Jer's position and the look on his face. Like he just sat on a cactus and he's trying to pretend it doesn't bother him.

The guy who took the picture posted it on his profile. I believe he is a friend that attends their church.

Okay, thanks. I knew I'd seen it. .... Now I remember the stuff about the photographer. I'm even more amazed that the photographer would post that.

I wouldn't want him to take my picture. I'd be scared he'd post all the worst outtakes on line.

Maybe Jer and Jingle just posted it because they don't want to hurt the guy's feelings after he took a special mother's day shot for them? Surely Jer notices how bad he looks.

It's becoming more and more obvious that Jer sees himself more as a upper-class theologian, rather than a pastor.  He has no desire or use for helping others less fortunate than him.  It's all about his "brand" at this point.  Perhaps his classmates at bible college will purchase expensive handkerchiefs, since they all have to dress to a certain standard there anyway.

Puts me in mind of Monty Python's "Upper Class Twit of the Year."

Protection? You want Felicity to look to MEchelle for protection? The woman who looked the other way while Josh molested four of his sisters? That's who you want to protect your daughter?

Totally agree. That would have much more genuine. But we are realizing that "genuine" and "Jeremy" may not spend much time together. Such a suck-up.

Yes, exactly. It's easy to rail against against sins you are never seriously going to contemplate. let alone commit. When it's something you do/did/fantasize about morality suddenly becomes difficult.

Me too, but I'd really rather have them actually FEEL something other than their own venal self interest. Josh never felt guilty about what he did. Boob and Michelle never felt empathy for their daughters. This whole thing was just an annoyance that was buried because it got in the way of their stardom plans. Just once I'd like the three of them to be giving a talk to an audience while they have a PTSD flashback, live and on camera, or Josh to wake up being a stranger manipulating his body.

I want to grab the three of them by the sholders and shout that OTHER PEOPLE ARE NOT EXTENSIONS OF YOURSELF. YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY PERSON IN THE WORLD. YOU ARE NOT SPECIAL.

And a fifth girl, but she was outside of Michelle's umbrella and didn't count. Not really.

I agree.  I am a quilter and have seen many Much Nicer versions of a T-shirt quilt. They are not easy to do.  I don't do them.  Several of my quilty friends do.

I did a Tshirt quilt for my sister using concert tees that is way nicer than that one.  Used very cool trim with guitars and such, too.  I presume that Repat gave him the quilt for free for the advertising value, so they did it as quickly, simply and cheaply as they could and paying customers get better ones.
