Ok... In April 2017, I'd like to go there with my hubby : https://www.airbnb.fr/rooms/6148060?wl_source=list&wl_id=16635479&role=owner&check_in=2017-04-04&check_out=2017-04-11&guests=2

He knows we'll go "somewhere", but it was totally up to me to plan it according to the budget he gave me...

Why do I put it here ? Because of Below Deck Med'. (and if I'm a good negociator, as it's far from full season, I'll be able to not even rent two Quads (= ATVs ?) for the week, but also make a cruise on a sail ship ! Yeah !)

I guess we don't get a reunion? I turned the TV hoping to see a reunion for this season but instead it's that Shahs of Sunset crap.

Has anybody heard anything about a reunion?

No reunion for this one.  Maybe next season, if there is one.

Maybe Andy didn't like how this season/debut turned out either. I thought it was pretty much a bore, except for the beautiful scenery. I like Ben and look forward to seeing him on the next season of the original Below Deck, but I don't care if I never see any of the others again. Jules and Capt. Mark and even Hannah were ok, but it's one and done for me.

Yeah, this version of "Below Deck" was disappointing.  Something that really annoyed me about the crew was how they had no concept of "chain of command".  When a superior ranking crew member told someone to complete a task, the response was often something like, "I don't want to," or "I don't have to," or "I'll  do it later if I feel like it."   Unbelievable.   The only rank that seemed to warrant the crew member obeying commands was "Captain".

He was raving about it on WWHL.  He said it was Vanderpump Rules but on a boat.  I am disappointed.

Because I'm constantly googling yachts and yacht services for this show and the mothership, Google thinks I'm really interested in yachts. Anytime there's a new yacht concept, I'll get a new story in my feed. So when these show up, I had to share.

Gigayachts that require more than 50 staff to operate.

The Orsos Island is a super yacht designed to look like a private island.

It’s not really a yacht. If you go to their website it mentions that it has no engines so has to be attached to a cargo ship to move anywhere. It’s also ugly as shit.

That's even stupider than having a big ungainly island shaped boat. If it can't move under its own power, you may as well rent a beach villa and take a catamaran or smaller motor yacht out during the day.

Selling ridiculous stupid shit to rich people is a lucrative hustle that I wish I could break into!

As we have some chefs and strong home cooks here, is anybody able to help with a question I can't find the answer to online?

What effect does adding diastalic malt powder to a soursough starter have?

Will it make a more sour, "tangier" sourdough bread?

It "nourishes" and helps the sourdough to grow, told hubby

Thank you, Diane!  This answer does not seem to exist in baking books or on the Internet.

Does your husband happen to know the amount?  Do I replace some of the feed flour with it, or use it in addition to it?  The diastalic malt powder I have is based with rye flour, from King Arthur.

Does it change the amount of water needed?

This brought to you from an internet search.  I'd call my Mom but I already didn't commit the finer points of making bread to memory twice.  And it seemed like a lot of trial and error until it worked even though she took a class and had a recipe.  Don't use chlorinated water.  It kills sourdough.  That is all I remember.

diastatic malt powder is proportional to the flour but using too much can ruin the bread.

Double check that your flour doesn't have diastatic barley malt.  Most wheats and organics won't so your rye probably doesn't.

Most online recipes have it as optional  to 1/2 teaspoon (per 3 cups flour) to 2 tsp (per 3 cups flour) but too much ruins it so maybe start at 1/2 tsp per 3 cups flour.  I saw a few on line posts saying 2 tsp ruined the bread and made it gummy.

I don't know. He doesn't neither. He's not a baker (even if he's still making cakes, croissants, pastries, etc. ), but he told me he never used it when he was making bread (some years ago, lol !) and that you don't need it if you've got a good sourdough. But I will stop here, because we don't have the same flours, products, etc... (and I'll add that I don't like "sugary" bread at all, and we don't like the bread like you do in NA, so, of course, we don't follow the same receipes)

You don't know any of us but I can assure, most of us posters on this forum are the kindest, most caring, sincere folks you will ever encounter. That's just my opinion and my experience. We wish you well and hope you keep coming back here!

WARNING ⚠️ This is a mooshy love post to thank y’all for thoughts and prayers...it’s OT...so you can ignore the deets and move on to next post...if you’d like...just a heads up...I don’t wanna waste anybody’s time

okay....

Ya know??? Chenoa333? I totally believe what you said...the posters here are incredible!

thank you again for encouraging words throughout...y’all have been so supportive through a stressful year...thank you...

refresher...

1. Brought in 2019 with house flood...and I fell against wall...shoved 1993 cancer reconstruction breast implant...shoved it up to my clavicle...Omgosh PAINFUL...then I

2. Scheduled with Dr DuBrow to fix it.

3. Preop for Dubrow surgery presents heart issue (passed out in stress test after bad EKG....doc had to be paged give me a shot of something (should be called kick in the chest)

...but no biggie...only electrical..so I get clearance...no anesthesia issue.

4. Found out in meantime...aforementioned leak from behind wall that caused flood...created BLACK MOLD in all walls through center of my house...😕

5. I finally get to Dubrow surgery in May....and I was supposed to be in OC for 1 week...3 weeks later I finally get released...(500cc of old blood and ruptured silicone took time to drain....yup...)...it gets better.

6. Have to WAIT for further heart tests because breast surgery scars prevent ability to do necessary probing for heart ultrasound....got it done and...

7... here we are...I just had my heart procedure last week! 1 week today..

I’m sure there are so many of you can help me get the answer to this question...what happens if shocked ?

I am soooo fucking bruised...and have round burn marks on my abdomen/rib cage in front..and on my back.

While My hubby drove me home...said nurse told him I was “shocked” 5 times...I thought that meant the electric shocks to get Afib back to normal...but just found out it was the “defibrillator paddle” patches...!!! OUCH!!!!

That explains why in recovery room...my Dr Dubrow boob felt like I was shooting out electricity rivaling Wonder Woman!

...OMG...and my pubic mound between groin incisions felt like it had been hit by a cattle prod....yes a CATTLE PROD!!!...like I saw in some documentary years ago...about why I should be a vegetarian?...I think..

(screw that noise...I EAT vegetarians! ).

im so glad it’s over but haven’t yet felt a change in AFib symptoms... ...and I’m REALLY down/depressed and still no energy...too much is going on...

STILL dealing with that original flood/mold problems...closets guys coming tomorrow.. (that’s how long it takes to get rid of and rebuild after black mold)

im over it...sad...

asking myself...should I have become a vegetarian? Would I be healthier now? 🥴 kidding of course

... bottom line… I don’t give 2 flying Fs thru the hole of a rolling doughnut...

live young...then die hard, and leave a good lookin’ corpse...

once a gain I jest..but we HAVE to laugh...right????...if I don’t laugh...I’ll cry...

thank you again for the well wishes you beautiful people!

can anybody please tell me about defibrillator ramifications? I’m sure it’s all normal...it’s just A LOT right now...hoping what’s happening should be expected...and my cardio doc left for vacation when my concerns came to mind...

thank you again

to 2020 dammit! 😂

🙏👊

I had to blow off the cobwebs.  I got sent here to talk about cruises. I've been looking at Viking River Cruises, and yes, they are pricey but for ten days, not too bad.

Are the Viking Cruises the low key ones?   I think I've seen ads on Antiques Roadshow and it seems like they are a little more for older adults, a little more educational than these Disney cruises which seem to be NUTS!  I would LOVE to take a low key cruise like that somewhere fun.

Yes, I feel like they are for an older crowd. The last thing I want is someone else's kids ruining my vacation. To me it looks better than a yacht, maybe because I don't want to spend a vacation so drunk I don't remember it. I want good food and good views, and if I'm lucky, good company.

ITA!  Explore the world in comfort  that sounds like my kinda cruise!  Floating down the Nile while sipping wine and enjoying views from a nice balcony--yes please!

GO FOR IT!!  If you can afford it do it!

I let my passport lapse. No one wants anyone from the US. I just set up an appointment to get a "Real ID" so I can fly within the US. They want proof of where I live, like bills. I went mostly paperless so I'm like I can't show you bills. My stress level is up.

Oof I was going to ask if there were any restrictions for Americans traveling to Eastern Europe.  I guess you've had your vaccine so your safe in that dept.  I pay all my bills online too so maybe pull up your acct for water, electric, etc and see if you can print past bills...

I hope it works out for you

Good point about printing bills, but they said they don't want a copy or a printout.

Yes, I am vaxxed but waiting on a booster.

I also should just get the passport renewed. I should probably bring in my own photo for that because the DMV does me wrong already. They always manage to make me look like I was arrested for shoplifting. At least the post office lets me decide which photo was less serial killerish.

They're like book your cruise by September 30! So tempting. I was looking at the Elbe cruise.

You will love it!! We leave for our 4th VRC in November, Lyon to Avignon, I could not travel any other way now, I am so spoiled by Viking, the ocean cruise was amazing too, (Barcelona to Rome), not one bad thing to say about any of our trips.

Another vote for Viking here. Husband and I did the Basel to Amsterdam river cruise a couple years ago. There’s an included excursion each day and optional excursions (additional cost) most days. The staff was wonderful, our cabin was a decent size with a balcony, and the food was very good. There were no children on our cruise - I think Viking's rule is no kids under 12 (or maybe 16).

It was an older crowd than a big ocean cruise but not too old. Mostly folks in the 40-60 range, or that’s how it looked to me. The evenings were lively and fun in the lounge. Most of the folks we met up with were just there to relax and chill, and we had a great time. And not everyone was there just for the scenery... One set of 4 women in their 60s or more were traveling together and got pretty plastered every night and most of the days. They made a couple of the excursions kinda lively!

We did that trip too, we did two days in Amsterdam pre cruise, that trip was amazing.  Lot's of Brits and Aussie's on that cruise and a lot of spirited partying!

Also, I do spend time in Leesburg/Ashburn if there is a Virginia meet up count me in.

Thanks for the info!  I've been trying to convince my husband to do one of these cruises with me.  It would be a retirement gift to ourselves.  He still sees cruises as the Disney/Princess cruises with lots of screaming kids and cramped cabins with no real privacy.  About how many people would you guess were on the cruise?

Glad to help! According to the Viking site, the ship we were on (Idi) had 95 staterooms, so 190ish people or fewer, I’d guess. There was plenty of room between the bar/lounge, the open air upper deck, and a couple small sitting areas. No casino or pool, but we never use the casino on a regular cruise and we really didn’t miss the pool. The scenery along the Rhine was just gorgeous. I hope you go!

My husband started a group on Facebook called NOVA World Travelers, to talk about trips and cruises and such. It’s still a small group but growing. Give it a try! Maybe we’ll end up meeting someday!

I'm so happy I found this forum. I found out about Below deck by accident when I saw it on my tv. Then after a few months I found out that there was a season in Croatia. Which is great because I live in Croatia.

I saw a couple of days ago that that Season 2 available on Netflix. And then yesterday I found out that the new season was also  filmed in Croatia this summer. In the same place I was on vacation this year.

So yes, after season 2 I am looking forward to seeing season 6, and I am so happy our Adriatic See is in this show
