The twins were adorable in this episode. The dude ranch was a lovely way of celebrating as a family, I enjoyed the kids interacting with the animals.

Things I'm over:

Parker's blank stares and freaking out if someone so much as asks her a question. She seems to be just fine a lot of the time when everyone is just joking around but as soon as she needs attention it's tears and a red face. Adam overcompensating with her and not paying attention to the other kids is annoying too.

Adam praising Hazel for riding a horse because she's been through so much with her eyes but Riley is moving up a whole grade because she's brilliant and he doesn't want to celebrate her accomplishment, he treats it like it's the worst thing in the world because he's worried the sisters won't all be treated the same. His favoritism is so obvious. No wonder Riley acts up, it's the only way to stand out.

Danielle whining about her cadi fitness business to promote the juice out of it (the clothes look cheap and cost more than high end fitness brands). She's just looking for something to do.

I enjoy watching because the kids are cute but every episode seems more and more scripted (why are they still talking so much about the house situation when they've bought it way before this ranch episode filmed). It's starting to seem like branding of a family. I remember how things changed quickly with the Gosselins and I'm not saying this family is anything like them, however, the more the spotlight and money grow, everyone is going to want a piece of the cake and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a sudden fallout with Kiki and Dale because they didn't get paid enough or Mimi starts to go to the press. Hopefully this never happens and they keep level headed but I can't help notice how much this show is becoming more about the ratings and sponsorships.

I agree with all of your observations. I have also noticed that Hazel seems to act out almost as much as Riley yet they discipline her differently (if at all). They coo "Aw, Hazel Bezel" for behaving aggressively and yet Riley gets time outs etc. Riley is clever and is going to see through their favouritism. Poor Parker has been groomed to freak out whenever she is asked to say or do anything because Adam rewards her with attention each time she behaves this way. Do they not watch this show? I don't even recall if Lulu and Ava are addressed by their parents, sheesh...

I know someone said that they will all have a growth spurt since Riley is very small. I hate to say it but there is no growth spurt coming.

I cannot remember where I learned of this tidbit, but apparently one can determine a child's future height by doubling whatever their height was at 2.5 years old. Anyone else heard this?

Also, I enjoyed Adam during the first season, but now it appears he believes his own hype. If they spend time on one more episode of Adam obsessing over their budget while discussing how he needs to "support his family" makes me squirm with embarrassment. Judging by his latest camera and computer gadgets, they are not hurting for cash. He also seems to have forgotten that pre-quints, Danielle was the major bread earner which financed their travels around the world. But suddenly he is doubting Danielle's ability to earn money. I think he's just jealous of her can-do attitude given he's a can't-do pessimist.

I'm sure that Dr. Megan is a qualified ophthalmologist, but even within specialties there are specialists.  For Hazel I would look for someone  who specializes in her specific condition.  And I'd probably get more than one opinion.  This isn't something to take lightly, as it could mean the difference between her being able to see as an adult or being legally blind.

Very true, and surely now they can afford to book an operation with their original doctor who did the first operation. They just need to fly to the city he moved his practice to.

And I think both parents need to read up a bit on where four year olds are developmentally. They're expecting to much with this ridiculously non-specific "quiet time".

Pre-school daycares schedule in daily quiet time starting with 3 year-olds. The kids may lie/read quietly on the mats or have a nap themselves. I've never noticed a kid not being able to be successful during quiet time so if the quints are not buying into it, that's on Danielle. It takes patience and practise but Danielle should be able to have home quiet time scheduled within a month. (That is assuming she's being consistent.)

I think Danielle is slowly resenting Adam and his comments/ criticism re: what she can and can't manage while working as a home mother. He still doesn't have a clue the amount of effort Danielle needs to consistently exert in keeping these girls healthy and on task. Then Adam comes to care for children while Danielle is out and he immediately lets them run wild, while openly complaining about/ undermining and/or dismissing Danielle's latest accomplishment.

Yes, quiet time is good but these parents are going about it correctly. They're just saying the words "quiet time" over and over and expecting their daughters to understand what they want them to do. It's almost like they're setting them up to fail for the drama of it, so they can complain about how hard their lives are.

I just read about what is supposed to be a real magazine interview where Adam whines about the way his marriage is being portrayed, and the way he is being edited.     He also says he's going to tell TLC to change how D & A are portrayed.      Isn't that usually the beginning of the end for these shows, when the on screen people start making demands?

If D & A are smart, they're banking a lot of the income, paying off the house, and vans, and trucks, and putting away for a rainy day.  Their entire lifestyle is showing the quints that spending is a good thing.

He is such an entitled whiner.  He and Danielle don’t seem to understand that no talent brought them to this place and they aren’t proving to be particularly special or entertaining.  I just hope they’re saving their money.

I can understand Parker being afraid of the horse -- those animals are big, especially to a four year old.  So why not have her ride with one of her parents?  Mom or dad gets on the horse, Parker is put in front of them, for a quick turn around the corral.  Or put the child on a pony instead of a full size horse.

It's possible they did try those ideas and just didn't show.  At the end of the day, it's ok to say, "If you don't want to ride the horse, you don't have to."  She'll have other opportunities.  Sometimes kids just need more time before they're ready.

Better yet, leave Parker in the hotel room with the nanny if she is afraid of everything and everyone. Or better yet, at home.

That seems a bit extreme!  She's not afraid of "everything and everyone."  She didn't want to ride the horse.  That does not mean she should be made to stay in the hotel room and miss out on everything else and not be a part of the family.

My personal guess is that when they get ready to film, the girls are told what to do, and do it right now.     The proper way to introduce Parker and the rest to the horses is gradually, and not saying you're going for a ride now.      Ponies may be smaller, but they aren't always kid friendly.    When I was little my uncle's giant (to my eyes) Quarter Horses were all huge, but they looked out for me, and I was pretty young.

The dude ranch (if I had the right one) only does riding for kids under six with special arrangements, and a bunch of four year olds on camera was probably unique for the ranch.  The dude ranch certainly looked like fun.

I can't even deal with these two.  Adam is such a whiney baby.  "It WILL stop".  How about they don't film you anymore?  That's the breaks when you film a reality show.

And a mission trip where people watch you do handstands?  I can't even imagine having 6 little ones and thinking, "yeah a mission trip without kids will fit great in our schedule! Let's leave the kids and go!" They both have gotten so full of themselves.

Also I think they are filming. What's that quote from the Bible-So when you give to the needy, do not post on Instagram and bring a camera crew sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men.

Their website says "America's only all female quintuplets" and even though it's a fact, it's very strange to see it on a family website. Like it's a product being presented. Reminds me of the packaging and branding on some popular food items.

Fly nothing. He is 4 hours away by car. Leave Houston at 6am and they are ready for surgery by 10am. Nothing to it. I dont know why they are wasting their time with Megan. The first doctor seemed much more qualified. Just my .02.

As far as growth spurts go. The same rules cany apply to these quints as they do to a single baby. These kids were born at like 2.5 pounds where I was born at 10lbs. 1oz which I know is Heavy. But i was born almost as heavy as all 5 of them combined. They should all be happy with a 5 in front of their height. like 5'1" to 5'11".

I think living in Texas with all of the junk food they are eating with no vegetables they will all be growing wider  more than taller. I see at least 4 of them being built like fire hydrants. Short and stout and ready to fight it out.

What I hate is the quints are all doing the same thing, at the same time, and all for the cameras.      I hated when Parker had to go on stage at the video group stage show.     If a kid doesn't want to go perform on stage, then don't force them.    It's not as if the Busbys don't know how Parker will react either.     They tell Parker she doesn't have to do things, but then tell them to do them anyway.   The OT said not to push it, and they do anyway.

Actually, the OT said the exact opposite.  She said to give a little push to try new things.

Yes, but a little push would be (if they show a lot on camera, they probably don't) fine, but they seem to keep nagging until the girls do what the parents want.    It would be different if it was a gradual process, but it seems to be non-negotiable.

I suspect Parker doesn't just have anxiety, but has performance anxiety about getting on stage, or being featured at something like the auditorium stage at the video group, with a huge audience.    I've read that shyness is probably hereditary, so I bet Parker will never be outgoing the way her sisters are.  It's also good that Riley is smart, but pushing her forward, and jumping grades can back fire for some kids.

If Parker has anxiety, she's not trying to ruin the fun. It just how she reacts to the world. I was similar, and as I got older, I would've given anything not to be anxious. For all I know, she could be faking to get attention like a previous poster suggested. We don't know. But anxiety is real, and sufferers are not trying to be bratty or disruptive.

I was reading about the sad story of the Dionne quintuplets, and it reminds me of the exploitation that all of these multiple shows do, and how the parents and production companies are profiting.    The Dionnes were turned into a side show, actually had a huge playroom where people watched them play, through one way screens.    Lots of merchandise with their image on it.       Their performances and other income paid for the house their birth family lived in, and the girls were treated like garbage by the rest of the family.     It took years for the surviving quints to get any money out of the government.       They even sold souvenirs of the girls (my mother had a handkerchief with the girls images painted on it).

I can see parallels with the shows, commercials, sponsored activities, and trips, and wonder how much the quints and Blayke will end up with when they turn 18?     I'm really thinking I may be done with this show, because it went from cute little kids, to rich people on constant vacations, and publicizing various sponsors, and companies, including the family businesses.    Actually, the situation with the cycle studio probably was the last straw for me.  Then the Parker  and Riley spotlight on them, really makes me uncomfortable.

I'm not sure I understand the concern about Riley moving up just one grade. She's 4 and in kindergarten and will be 5 when kindergarten "graduation" rolls around in June. If she always stays one grade ahead, she'll be 17 when she graduates high school. Is that really such a big deal? I have a late May birthday, never skipped a grade, and had just barely turned 18 when I graduated high school. Also, I'm 4'11" and was always the shortest kid in the class. I somehow miraculously survived both my late birthday and my diminutive stature to achieve adulthood and a law degree. I'm sure someone as plucky as Riley will succeed, too, despite the formidable obstacles of being young and petite.

How would May be a late birthday? My daughter is a May birthday and that makes her one of the older kids. Her best friend born in December is one of the youngest and won’t be 18 when graduating and still not 18 until near the end of the first term of university.

When I said "late May birthday" I was referring to my birthday as occurring late in the month of May. I did not say that having a a birthday in May means that you have a "late" birthday for purposes of school cutoff dates and whatnot. I was just trying to point out the wide range of ages in any particular grade level, without even factoring in kids who skip grades. For example, the cutoff date when I entered school back in the day was October 1. With my late May birthday, I had turned 5 only a few months before kindergarten started, but there were kids in my class with birthdays in October, November and December who had missed the cutoff the prior year and were about to turn 6 as school got underway.,

I looked it up and Texas does the 5 by Sept 1 so fall babies are held back. It has never been like that here. I am in my 40s and my sister is an Oct baby and started kindergarten at age 4. It is so strange to me the fall holdback. So I guess April kids would be near the median age, not the older but not the youngest.

I had watched a movie about the Dionne quints several years ago,  Beau Bridges played the doctor.   At the time,  I asked my mom,  who was about the same age,  if she remembered the controversy.  She said all she really remembered was having the Dionne quint dolls.

I have always thought this show is no different than what happened to the Dionne quints, just the 21st century version.

In terms of exploitation of the children for profit, I do think it is comparable to the Dionne quintuplets. I think the difference is not in the manner of exploitation, but rather that the Busby quints are growing up in a loving family with doting parents, which the Dionne quints lacked. That's why the Busby quints are in a better situation than the Dionne quints.

As to whether I think the exploitation is wrong, I don't have a black/white viewpoint on that. I think I would likely at least draw more boundaries than the parents have with respect to filming.

Also, how did Parker all of a sudden get behind in school?  It was Riley and Parker who were moved ahead of the other 3.

It could be both, but if that's the case, then they're failing her because instead of giving her techniques that can help her quell the anxiety, they're reinforcing it.  She's been alive a little over 48 months, so she's learned whatever primitive behavior that works to get what she needs. Also, she may be behind in school because she can no longer "perform" well enough to demonstrate what she knows.  I really wish they'd address it.

When the teacher was reviewing Hazel and Parker, she said that Hazel did not answer all the questions.  But she felt that Hazel was kidding and fooling around and really did know the answers but just chose not to tell her.  With Parker, she said something like she did not necessarily feel that she knew the answers.  She was not as sure of the amount of knowledge that Parker had.  She felt Parker might not be answering because she did not know the answer.

I wonder how difficult it is to try to determine the ability of a child who just does not want to talk, participate or answer questions.  I guess the teachers have to observe someone like Parker during the course of the day to see what her behavior is with others.  Because if it all depends on a specific test and the child (for whatever reason) refuses to answer questions, how can the teacher know if the child has the knowledge and just won't speak or if the child does not know the correct answer.

I agree with others who have said that Parker might have found out that she gets a lot of extra attention by NOT speaking up and just being quiet.  I am sure it can be rough to get personal attention when you are one of 6 children.  So maybe not answering questions is her way of having the light shine on her for a while.

So Danielle and Adam are in Brazil with Ashley while Kiki and Dale are in Napa at the same time. Who is watching all these kids lol??

in Brazil now (ie November) while school is in session? So someone else has the responsibility of getting them to/from school, lunches, homework, activities, etc..

Prayers go out to Mimi. she might not be the main sitter in charge but I am sure she is involved in some kind of way.

I'm all for traveling seeing the world, and reconnecting as a couple - but these 2 are doing a little to much, too far away,  in that category given the ages of their children. There are plenty of places in the US they could do the same and might not be gone as long, or should something happen or just to check in, they are more accessible by phone/internet.

I wonder where they are going to travel to go once all of kids are grown....

I'm also a lover of travel and feel that one should grab the opportunity when it arises and go for it, but within reason and using good judgement.  Didn't we see/hear Adam practically in tears several times because he thought that he was missing everything and the girls were growing up so fast?   Ok, fine, but then they go away on an international trip?  WTF is that?
