The mystery continues with Tony Hsieh's death.

Some other sources from CT mentioned the recordings from the FD mentioning he was "trapped" in the room, another recording used the word, "barricaded".  The Courant reports he was found in the basement.  Radio transmissions can be heard here  as they are archived.

The house itself didn't belong to Hsieh or his family but a LV musician.

None of this is making any sense!

Award-winning science fiction author and editor Ben Bova has died from complications of Covid and a stroke at age 88.  He was editor at Analog in the 1970s and was the first editor at Omni Magazine, stepping down in the early 80s.  He was still publishing science fiction novels right up until his death.  I met him and heard him lecture at what I believe was the last Lunacon SF convention in the early 2017.

Maybe you were thinking of Nancy Walker, who among many other things was famous for the Bounty paper towel commercials where she played Rosie the waitress at a NJ diner. She did die quite a while back. Or maybe Jan Miner, who was Madge the Manicurist for Palmolive. "You're soaking in it!"

No, I was definitely thinking of Dena Dietrich. I remember Nancy Walker and Jan Miner (Madge) as well as Jane Withers (Josephine the Plumber), and there's no way I would have conflated any of them with Ms. Dietrich.

Noooo, not Ben Bova. I haven't read much of his work in recent years but devoured it in junior high and high school. Didn't realize his age. He was well known and well respected in the science fiction community, if not as recognizable to the general public as the likes of Heinlein and Asimov. I remain fond of The Exiles Trilogy, which I don't think is even in print anymore. Pretty sure I have a copy of Mars lying about I haven't gotten to.

What was interesting about Miss Dalton is that she spent the early part of her career playing 'straight woman' roles   on comedies (most notably the Joey Bishop Show)before playing the deeper than one expected Julia on Falcon Crest! Although she played Joey's newlywed wife, she never had any interaction with Joey's sister played by (of all people) Marlo Thomas because that show had drastically changed formats  after the first season and the character's original  sponging nuclear family were gone when he came back the new season. I wonder if Miss Dalton and Miss Thomas ever met. RIP, Miss Dalton.

A report from this morning’s (Tuesday’s) GMA (Good Morning America) on the perhaps rather mysterious death of Zappo’s Founder, Tony Hsieh. (VIDEO)

Has anyone here heard if the local, state and/or federal authorities are actually investigating what might have led up to Mr. Hsieh's death- as opposed to simply extra layers of it being reported but nothing of substance being done?

Just that article linked.
And now I'm recalling that my daughter who lives in NYC and has lost many friends to suicide over the past 20 years there says that whenever the cause is listed as unknown or otherwise missing information that suicide is usually the case.
Whether it's suicide, accident, or murder, it's tragic, and perhaps more so in one with so much to offer the world.

Per TMZ, Tony Hsieh did not have a will . Hopefully this won't devolve into a mess in the courts.

I'm certain it will considering the money involved.  Here in LV, people are demanding statues be built in his honor.

Meanwhile, it seems Hsieh had a drug problem and paranoia lead him to barricade himself in the storage area of the house.  He also liked candles for atmosphere and it would seem that lead to the fire that would claim his life. None of this has been reported in LV media for the most part.

I'm in Las Vegas too. It's only after someone dies that all the crazy stories come out of the woodwork. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a proposal for a statue downtown. But I don't think it will happen because we don't even have a statue of Elvis. There a scale model of the Statue of Liberty, a fire-breathing praying mantis, and of course showgirls in thongs.

Regarding the bolded: I went to Vegas more than once every year between 1992 & 2010, for Manilow concerts & fan club-related functions at various venues in town. There is a statue of Elvis in the lobby of The Westgate, formerly known under other names such as The International & The Las Vegas Hilton, 3000 Paradise Road (Off-Strip). I think the statue commemorates something like how many consecutive sellout shows Elvis performed in Vegas during his heyday. It may also have formerly been outside the front of the hotel... I forget.

There are also replicas of the Eiffel Tower & Arc d’Triomphe at the Paris Las Vegas resort/casino on The Strip.

The Slim Jims didn't kill him before 95 but Covid got him?  Huh.

But how many did he actually EAT? Just because he invented and marketed them doesn't mean that they were more than an occasional snack and he had a very balanced diet!

Haven't been to the Hilton/Westgate in years, but I never came through the front door and wouldn't have seen anything in the lobby.

Forbes exposé would seem to confirm all the rumors about drug and alcohol use by Tony Hsieh.

Reconciling their accounts, one word rises up: tragedy. According to his friends and family, Hsieh’s personal struggles took a dramatic turn south over the past year, especially as the Covid-19 pandemic curtailed the nonstop action that Hsieh seemingly craved. According to numerous sources with direct knowledge, Hsieh, always a heavy drinker, veered into frequent drug use, notably nitrous oxide. Friends also cited mental health battles, as Hsieh often struggled with sleep and feelings of loneliness—traits that drove his fervor for purpose and passion in life.

When I was little, nothing made me laugh more than Laverne and Shirley. Some of my favorite episodes were when Lenny and Squiggy sang. My favorite was Night After Night. It’s a song about two nights in a row.

RIP Mr. Lander.

The one I always remember is when Squiggy was sleep walking and Lenny had to keep singing him to sleep.   Mrs. Squigmond's little boy.   Oh and Lord Squigmond.

Too dumb annoying characters that made the trip to California because you couldn't imagine life without them.

I know nothing about her (and little about him beyond the food and friendship he shared with Julia Child), but this certainly endears her to me:

In lieu of flowers, Gloria wished condolence gifts should be made to the food insecurity or animal welfare charity of your choice.

As does the story of how they might dance together after dinner at home - but only if Jeopardy! was over.
