I think maybe a long time ago it was Nancy dialogue meant for Alexis, and now that's just blended in, because they aren't allowed to ad-lib anymore.

I mean, I guess I understand her hustling, if she didn't, maybe she would be long out of a job or on Kristina Wagner status, but it's so . . . transparent.

She and Laura Wright can't possibly be too friendly though, can they? Too much alike lol.

At this point, she should just leave and TIIC should write Liz out for the time being (though I tend to find DOOL a little sketchy when bringing on new, unrelated character, they tend to be written out pretty quickly). After what happened to her character this year and not even getting a prenom  for her character going the shredder, maybe playing a different would be good for her. Now that is a little difficult now that Jake is here. Its okay to make Lucky look like a deadbeat, but nothing can tarnish Jakeson's halo.

I think if was the Bold and Beautiful (she has dabbled in fashion design and dress making) , I would say definitely jump ship.

This is the show that Finola Hughes had to negotiate for Anna to get a fucking home (and a home that didn't make much sense for her character, too big) after being on the show for few years and a much beloved vet, but lets make sure the Jeromes are all set up. I get that money is tight, but they don't even write entertaining scripts to compensate.

In the long run I'd say BH would be better off staying with GH but damn it I would like her to leave just because FV probably just expects her to take whatever.

I legit don't see him caring. He'll recast or just let her go (he's got another triangle in wait with JohnSilasCaleb).

Seems to me the actors are jumping ship. JT was a big loss, especially since he was the only contract doctor character.

But as much as I hate Liz, this would be just as bad, if not worse. Considering her character's heritage. (Even if the Webber/Hardys are just a memory now.) BH has been Liz for almost 20 years, though. Maybe she wants to spread her wings and play someone else?

I would love to see them try to recast Liz.

Would it be too much to ask JJ to come swing by and have Lucky escort Liz? Or just have Liz leave and decide to re-prioritize her life and visit Sarah even? We'll probably get Liz trying to sabotage Sam/Jason one last time and be carted off to Ferncliffe. gah.

I will always believe recast is his first choice for actors who leave to go to rival soaps.

If Becky goes, I would prefer that Liz go as well. I have been an on-and-off DOOL viewer for years (presently "off"). I'd check her out on that show and stick around if I decided the show was in one of its upswings. Last time such was the case for me was early in the Will/Sonny storyline, with the first of the adult Wills.

BH wouldn't necessarily have to be a new character on DOOL. There is such an enormous network of defunct characters with significant ties that she could come back as someone who hasn't been on in a while.

I think FV cares about the hit the show would take, and knows Liz has a substantial fanbase which producers prior to him tried to fuck with and failed. I don't think he cares about Becky Herbst beyond that. I think he treats 95% of the cast with the same casual-to-deliberate neglect and then expects to shake them down at contract time and tell 'em to take it or leave it, and I think that definitely includes Becky.

Do I think he would recast? No, and I think the network might have a say about that as well. But I also didn't think we'd be on Michael Easton Character #4.

That being said I think they will come to terms because they are in too dangerous a position, FabLife or no, to lose even more audience. But no, DAYS is not job security for anyone including their own vets who they've been casually killing off. Between that recent fad and Ken Corday's usual ADD Becky would not last there.

I dunno, the only major character re-cast quickly was Lulu. Morgan was being SORASed for the first time so imo that doesn't really count as a re-cast and Dillon hadn't been on in years. Oh, and of course, the fuck-you Kevin recast of a day.

If they want money to pay Michael Easton and to gave Maurice a raise or whatever they should fire Billy Miller none acting ass instead of trying to mess with Becky who has always been a team player especially when this s*** show doesn't deserve it

I don't think the recast would happen instantly, if they choose that direction. She'd leave to "get help" or something and come back. Regardless, I'm not saying it's happening. I just think it's always at the top of Frank's list. We've kinda had this discussion before, but I don't think his immediate thought with every character exit is "HEA!!" I think his options are always recast, kill off, and character leaves town.

People, you are missing the obvious!

Out as Liz, Becky Herbst.

In as Liz, Michael Easton.

Well, it was funny in my head for a second.

Michael Easton will be like a seat filler at an awards show. He'll replace any character. He does a great BLT impression, too.

NLG's been here 20 years?  OK.  I'm old.

Yep, she first aired in late 1996.

Honestly, unless it was one of the Bell soaps, with this impasse in mind, I predict Becky will either re-sign with GH, or retire from acting completely. She's been a full time working mom her entire kids' lives, and while her oldest kids are almost 15 and 12 (see, Show? Becky has teenaged kids, Liz can handle one, too!), her youngest son is five and a half. I'm sure she would love to be home with him in a way she may not have always been with her oldest kids when they were little. And not only that, no matter how great we all think she looks, she'll still be 39 in May, and while it's definitely unfair, it's not like Hollywood is likely to give her a chance, and GH is literally the only acting job she's had since she started in 1997, save for one TV movie she did about a year after she joined the show. Before that, she'd been acting since she was a child, and also competed in figure skating, too. I'm sure GH coming along gave her some relief and stability, especially once she had her kids. So...yeah, if things don't work out here, and the DAYS thing isn't true/the Bells don't call her up with anything, I think Becky is probably done with acting permanently.

Jamie Giddens just announced that the writers at DOOL have been told to stop writing as negotiations for renewal are just getting started. Don't think that has happened before.

there goes becky's bargaining chip!

Days films so far in advance, they can take a 3-month hiatus and still be 3 months ahead.

I'm trying to figure out the rationale behind telling them not to write.  I would assume that the writers have contracts and aren't paid essentially hourly, so they're still getting paid, right?  I don't see what the harm is in continuing business as usual until the decision is made, and then making changes, if needed, going forward.  Does that mean that the actors won't be doing anything?  And, if so, will they just be paying them their guarantees to do nothing?

I assume that I just gave that more thought than some suit at Sony did when making the decision?

The actors should be fine. Material is up to September (!) 2016 right now. Now, if there is no agreement before then, then time to hit the panic button.

GH-related? I'd PAY for someone, ANYONE to tell JP/SA to stop writing.

Michael Easton is... Stephen Clay. Whose brainwaves have been replaced by a Robin Scorpio-crafted datastick (remember this plot point?) with the brainwaves of... Mikkos Cassadine.

I wish it wasn't plausible, because JP has done this story before.

Not a good sign for Days, though. I don't think anything like this has happened before.

After further reading this has happened once before. The same scenario occurred when Guiding Light was in negations for renewal but was canceled instead.

That makes it even more dire considering the result. If Sony does cancel Days, I can see them funneling whatever funds may be left back into Y&R, though.

It does indeed, and I really don't want to see another soap canceled. Y&R getting a larger budget would be crazy, they are already the #1 soap!

Always nice to be the tallest midget. The thought of JFP getting an even bigger budget while GH gets its slashed partially because of what she did makes me sick.  How the hell did she become the most successful exe producer in the business?

!!!!!!!!!!!! Get out while you can Becky. Save yourself.

This times 100!  She is so much better than what this shitshow gives her to do!

Hmmmm... the article about Becky just said she got an offer from Sony, with the assumption being it was from DOOL.  Could the offer have been from Y&R instead?

Headwriters and breakdown writers are paid by the week, but I think for only weeks when the show is in production. Script writers are paid by script.

So shutting down the writers would instantly stop some, if not all, of the money flow.

Would they potentially lose a lot of writing staff with a shut down, then?

They are at the bottom of the totem pole.  There's a glut of writers fired from soaps over the years.

I don't think Sony is worried.

Which being fond of writers and good writing, is sad for me to say.

I think the writers are still under contract, so maybe not.

I would think though, that if they're telling them "you won't be working for an indefinite period of time," that has to give those people some wiggle room to look for other work.  They can't just not earn anything.

I think most of them are already working on other stuff. They just don't get enough work from Days to pay the bills.  I don't think they are captured soap writers. As long as they are doing something other than writing a soap, they shouldn't be in conflict with working on a soap.

They're writing six months in advance. They have to have other work, I'd imagine.

I'm still amazed the show can be that far ahead.

Have you seen the show lately?  Not so amazing when you see the productive values. Though, they still are a bit better than GH's.

They know how to make use of the major sets better. And not all grey walls.
