Traveller519 March 23, 2016 Share March 23, 2016 I'm a sucker for R-rated comedies that bring something more to the table. I enjoyed this one, though I wouldn't elevate it to the ranks of great independent or vulgar/raunchey comedies. I liked seeing that Melissa Rauch and her husband decided to self-write and produce (with some help from the Duplass Brothers because... of course) the movie for her, seeing that she wasn't getting the type of roles she wanted. And there were worthwhile performances turned in from everyone. Though I think Haley Lu Richardson's overall precociousness won me over the most. The fact that she left Hope at the end stung as hard as anything and helped subvert the predictable. I don't think it was nearly as poor as the reviews made it out to be, even if it wasn't top rate. I was disappointed to see that it performed so poorly, nonetheless. I really want more independent, original ideas out there, especially as we crawl into Blockbuster season. Link to comment
Bruinsfan March 24, 2016 Share March 24, 2016 I ended up liking it, and eventually warmed to Rauch's character as I got used to her and she showed some glimmers of humanity. But she was very hard to take for the first half hour or so, and if I hadn't known about that hilarious sex scene with Sebastian Stan I'm not sure I would have bothered sticking around long enough to start enjoying it. 1 Link to comment
