The Duggars: In the Media and TLC

Guest

As a reminder, the site's Politics Policy remains in effect.  Yes, Jim Bob is apparently running for office again. That does not make it an acceptable topic of conversation in here - unless for some mysterious reason, TLC brings the show back and it is discussed on there. Even then, it would be limited to how it was discussed on the show.

If you have any questions, please PM the mods, @SCARLETT45 and myself.

People and Us both have the statement on their sites.  Wonder if any of the leg humpers can bring themselves to defend him now.

Actually, I think there is a very real possibility that he may do something drastic.  This is rock bottom.

Oh I dont think this is anywhere near bottom for Josh.  If he was truly despondent and overcome with guilt for all the embarrassment and hurt he has caused to the people he supposedly loves most in the world then he wouldnt continue to be so fucking egocentric. He wrote "As I am learning the hard way, we have the freedom to choose to our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences." In other words, he is not sorry for what he did but he is sorry that HE has to deal with the fallout.

i just mentioned that in conversation with my husband last night. i certainly hope someone is watching out for him. that would be a brutal state of affairs for those 4 little kids, in addition to all the rest of the damage he has created in their lives.

he can't and shouldn't be speaking for anyone but himself though. He does clearly acknowledge that the injured parties were his famil, not himself.

"I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him.

I brought hurt and a reproach to my family, close friends and the fans of our show with my actions that happened when I was 14-15 years old, and now I have re-broken their trust.

The last few years, while publicly stating I was fighting against immorality in our country, I was hiding my own personal failings. As I am learning the hard way, we have the freedom to choose to our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences. I deeply regret all hurt I have caused so many by being such a bad example."

Now the link is still on the main page, but the page itself is gone. They really need to hire a competent PR person. Don't public figures usually edit and refine their statements *before* publishing them for the world to read? There have already been three different versions of Josh's "statement."

Smuggar has an interesting way of getting back at his parents and their lifestyle. Some of his problems are about urges and bad character. Some of it has to do with showing his parents how much anger he has inside and towards them. This is one scary family.

Anna needs to get out now. It is only going to get worse for her.

Yeah, the "my precious wife Anna" thing alone deserves quite a swift kick to the nutsack. Anna, I have steel-toed Doc Martens if you want to borrow them.

Yes he does, but I personally read that as the obligatory statements he had to make.  My interpretation of his statement can easily be influenced by my anger of all the pain and embarrassment he has caused Anna and his children.    I felt like if I was reading that from Anna's point of view I would be so pissed that he felt the need to talk about him finding out the hard way and his lack of control over the consequences...just fuck you!

In the grand scheme of things how I view his statement doesnt matter, I hope that Anna finds some solace in his words.

I agree, this isn't up to us to forgive or not to forgive. We are the least affected and least important people in this situation.

Except to the Duggars, including Josh and all the rest of them, who know that job one for the entire family right now is to get the heck back on television. (absurd as that ambition now is) Since the public means money and fame, we may in fact be the only people who do matter to many of the Duggars (Josh, JB, M, maybe Jessa come to mind).

Yeah, I guess the whole "I changed my pervy ways before it ruined my life" thing is moot, eh?

Why Can't All Ashley Madison Hacking Victims Be Josh Duggar?

Amanda Marcotte, at Talking Points Memo

"Cheating is about violating a deeply personal agreement between two people....It’s not the business of the world at large.

Unless you’re Josh Duggar, of course. Or anyone else who fights publicly to use government interference to mess with the private sexual choices of consenting adults. If you fight for the government to limit or ban gay people’s marriages or women’s reproductive choices, then your sex life is our business. If only there were a way to do a targeted search of Ashley Madison data for that, while leaving everyone else alone."

Anna, wake up.  If she makes the choice after this to stay with DoughBoy, then I feel no empathy for her whatsoever.  Now is the time for her to get her darling kids out of the limelight and start a new life.  Minus the cheater.

It's totally amateur hour.

It sounds like the Duggars are running the show.  I doubt TLC will have anything to do with them at this point.  And they are too cheap to hire a PR person is my guess.  Or maybe the PR person is someone they found in the Nickel Ads.  Anyway, it's a mess and they are just making it worse with each passing minute.

Next thing we will see on the news it that Boob blames Gothard for Josh's issues. If Gothard preached that dating was ok this wouldn't have e.v.e.r. happened.

I found this comment on Gawker. Loved it.

"It’s kind of heartbreaking. This guy is basically paying a monthly fee to have a normal adolescence."

I agree.  I think they are too cheap to hire a PR person.  Surely JimBoob can do that job!!

Maybe he watched the PR person from the last mess for an hour or so.  If that's the case, according to Duggar thinking, he's a fully trained expert now.

I had no empathy for her ever since she stood by him and posted about forgiveness after he MOLESTED HIS SISTERS.

I don't know if Anna has any support system for leaving. I'll bet her fundie family and friends all expect her to stand by her man. I wouldn't be surprised if they all turned on her for leaving. It would suck to be in your 20's with four kids, no husband, no money, no skills, and little experience with the real world. I don't think she has any good options. Then again, she's so brainwashed, she probably has no desire to leave.

Wait...so gay marriage was legalized AFTER he cheated? But that's gonna cause the downfall of traditional marriage!

So Jill and Jessa are gonna be smiling from the cover of People in checkout stands nationwide while people say "Yo, them girls brother is one horny little bitch, ain't he?" Who is with me in betting Jessa went after his pecker with scissors while chasing him thru the TTH?

She has a sister and brother in law who left and just lead their lives as conservative Christians and she has her sister Suz who had a child out of wedlock. But it's just a matter if they have the means to help 5 people (Anna plus 4 kiddos)

So he mentions pornography. There is no mention of dating/hook-up sites. He also blames Satan. Once again, way to go on downplaying your despicable actions, Dough Boy.

I'm guessing that in Duggar World, Ash-Mad or even normal dating sites are the same as pornography.

Wait, wait.....did I see there's an ad for this week's People magazine, that just happens to have those two Duggar sisters on it - completely coincidental to this latest scandal...? Sheesh, life is weird.

Next weeks People cover: "Camille Cosby sticks by Bill, because it's only 46 women."

(Psst, it is now up to 50 who have come forward).

I've got the local news on.

I'm in a relatively small south Florida market and they just announced that the first AM outing is our very own not-so-little Josh Duggar.

What say the networks' nightlies? 15 minutes to go.

Stay tuned!

Ah. The schadenfreude, it is sweet.

The timing is impeccable since people will be able to see Jill and Jessa plasted on the cover of PEOPLE, ensuring that the family scandals stay fresh in everyone's minds. Nice job, Josh.

Radaronline is reporting that he had a secret facebook page where he friended strippers and other Arkansas ladies.

Now those are women who are more likely to come forward than anyone on Ashley Madison (made up of married people not wanting to end their marriages over this tater tot). I bet the Enquirer is already, um, inquiring about it.

I asked in the Josh thread, but what does everyone thing about the molestation documentary? Will it air? I think it'll air, but Jill and Jessa will be conveniently cut out, with no comment by TLC.

So this was the blind item that said the reality show producers knew about the scandal. They said much worse was coming out. I don't know if it's worse, but much more did come out. Gross they knew about it

I forgot about that story. You're right. Someone call those producers!

I didn't see it. How was she? What did she say? i can imagine!

Are we sure this is what they knew?

It was blind gossip so I'll keep an eye out when the reveal who it was.

Well CougarLife doesn't seem to be about cheating, just implausible male MILF porn fantasies. Both are highly unlikely to actually happen. CougarLife portrays itself as being filled with women, but I bet they're as rare as on Ashley Madison, the ads I saw on TV are clearly selling CougarLife site to men. I don't agree with what the hackers have done information. This isn't wikileaks or the NSA files, it's boiled down to aggrieved ashleymadison customers using other ashleymadison customers as ammunition, it was unethical and illegal. I wonder if they removed their own personal records from the data released. I do consider this to be more relevant than what Josh did as a 14 year old. It could be argued there mitigating circumstances in 2002. 2014 Josh is clearly just selfish and greedy, he wants his sex life life to be like his plate at a buffet.

Re his plate buffet. Remember when Josh used to obsessively post hundreds of food pix to his social media as he physically turned himself into doughboy. I kinda felt sorry for him because it seemed so sad. Who knew he'd been porking down on pasta and porn. Where did his lazy ass find the time...

Is it wrong to compare this to the tiger woods scandal. Gosh I'm hoping women come out describing his sexual tastes and how he talks shit about his family. Maybe if a woman got pregnant by him on the side he'll pay for the abortion or pay her off. Please don't hate me for thinking this!

I don't see why they would cut out Jill and Jessa. Neither of them have anything to do with this disaster, this is all on Josh. If anything, they will avoid mentioning him on the program at all and just say Jill and Jessa were victimized by a family member or something like that.

I will give Josh credit for saying he's the biggest hypocrite, because yeah, he is. It would have been better if he had included and apology to all of the LGBT people who are in committed, monogamous relationships and have never cheated on their partners, since he was working for an organization dedicated to stopping them from being able to partake in the sanctity of marriage, which Josh so blatantly disrespected.
