Sounds like Jojo does for some what Arie does for me. He is the only man in the whole franchise that ever got me going, his personality and natural sex appeal were a turn on. ;)

I'm with you.  Arie is the only guy I've ever had a "crush" on from this franchise.  I thought Emily was insane for not choosing him, and I really wanted him to be the Bachelor over farmer Chris.

Arie was in the running but after Juan Pablo they took the safer bet in Farmer Chris who I personally thought was a dud.

I had never watched any of this franchise prior to Kaitlyn's season, so I just did a quick Google search for Arie...hot damn! That dark hair/blue eyes thing on a guy makes me crazy.

Let me just say how excited I am to watch JoJo continue her war against pronouns. Tonight she took things to new heights when she pondered whether her "feelings for him [ben] are the same as his feelings for mine". For MINE. That's unprecedented, people.

Yeah, I posted about that jewel upthread.  Her pronouns drive me so crazy that I was glad they picked her as TBette, because I was thinking that would drive me away from this stupid show.  It's like vocal fry--I can take it only in very tiny doses, and can FF through a "date" on this show if the girl has it.  But JoJo's pronoun abuse is almost as constant as vocal fry, and she's going to be the lead, so there won't be any escaping it.

But then people here started talked about how awesome she's going to be because of her looks and personality, with the bonus of reality-show brothers and the drinking mother, and I just don't know what to do.

And you didn't even see him in action! If you could find a video clip of when he pushed Emily up against a wall and kissed her--swoon! On these shows usually I either think the kissing looks blah (this Ben) or downright disgusting (the LAST Ben). But Arie, OMG, that man looked like he knew how to kiss! I think that's what really put him over the top with Bachelor Nation. He has a handsome face but is kind of lanky, so at first he didn't really stand out from the crowd. But, damn, if we had some type of Bachelor Nation awards, he would get the hottest kisser lifetime achievement award and THAT's why Bachelor Nation is still hoping for Arie.

I was so bummed that they chose Chris Soules and Sean over him!  I actually refused to watch the show because of that.  I still hold out the hope that they will give him his own season.

JenE4 beat me to it. I actually got embarrassed watching Arie kiss because it was ... well, sorta like watching a porno or something, it was HOT and HOT DAMN, I kept wishing I were the one up against those walls. Add Sean to the list of revolting kissers. Most of these people make horrible tv when they kiss, it's all noise and, well, slobber.

But Arie ... hokey smokes. Yeah, he def created smoke, even through the screen of my ancient tv.

If I remember correctly, Arie turned down being TB. I know there was a lot of talk about it. And he did go down a notch or two when he dated Flapjack's Courtney for a while. But still, if he were ever TB ... just, wow for ratings.

Well, staying on topic I have to say I don't get the comparison. At all. Arie was sweet and funny and actually had a personality. I'm not seeing any of that in Jojo. Granted, I fast forward through a lot of the solo dates as they bore me, but I think I've seen enough of her to defend the opinion that she's a total Barbie robot. People talk about her spunk and fire. WTF, really? I don't even remember seeing her make a facial expression, let alone express an opinion that reflects any kind of personality. To me she's just a big couple of boobs of nothing, with dead eyes and disturbingly tidy hair. That forgiving speech she gave to Ben at the ATFR was just all kinds of fake. But I do prefer her over Caila who was even more fake, and who I actually think is disturbed in some way.

I think you've just described most of the women (and men too, if you remove the boob comment) who have appeared in this franchise.  I think they use that description as a baseline requirement when recruiting.

I have to agree Cecily, I really don't see this spunky personality people speak of. I can't really put her in any category because to me she was just there. Kind of like a slightly more animated Becca. I'm not even remotely excited about watching her as bachelorette and unless there's a particularly appealing guy or two I won't make it past the first night.

Jojo's spunky personality:

The Cooking Class Date:

"Ben already tasted my taco, and he loved it."

The Pig Date:

"This is like a bar in Dallas, there's just pigs everywhere."

Sorry, I love this woman.  I remember when Kaitlyn was rejected by Chris, there were all these tweets from Anna Kendrick where she declared how hot/amazing Kaitlyn was.  I'm excited that I actually feel that way about the new Bachelorette.

Haven't posted on these fast moving threads but have been watching (with some on demand etc watching) and have to throw in my 2 cents (often contrary to others I admit LOL)

I actually "like" Ben and Lauren together - maybe a bit bland but they seem to fit well...and if they really do have a life in Denver, not LA, they may have a good chance at making it. No DWTS - that is a great sign I think. I liked Lauren and Jo Jo...and Jubilee too.

I could not stand Olivia and I would have ragged on her at the wta show too....hope she goes away from tv for good.

I don't like Calia at all....don't think she is pretty, and thought her "met cute" story and how she broke up with a guy just to be on the show was one of the most shallow  revelations ever.

I hope we have also seen the last of Amber and Becca - go away please. I disliked the twins at first but later thought the one left was ok, I am sure they will be a hit on BIP and of course that is what the producers are looking fo cast.

JMO the "love two" was also a plot by the producers to spice things up - I think Ben was very amiable and agreeable, he is a young guy and also a people pleaser.

I did think that Lauren was "it" for him - in some cases this show has to stir up plot lines when the lead falls from the beginning  (like bringing in Nick when it was clear Katlyn had fallen for Shawn on night one).

I am pretty happy - like Ben and Lauren...like K and Shawn....two very different couples but like them. I didn't mind a few minutes devoted to the likeable but boring Jade and Tanner on the "reunion - wedding" show - hated seeing Farmer Chris ugly mug and had to laugh at how fugly old Blob Guinney is looking.

It was nice to see the couples still together...always love Trista. Nice to see ones that didn't work out on the show found love, have families.

I am pretty happy about Jo Jo for bachelorette...

Good season, good show

Not quite as bad as the "tight seal" joke, but please tell me we don't have a potential Kaitlyn on our hands :(

I thought that comment was quite tacky and, to be honest, rude & uncalled for. I guess not everybody shares the same sense of humor :) Edited by ByTor

I'm happy for you then, Ms Blue. I guess all I can hope for is to be pleasantly surprised by Jojo. She'll probably turn out better, or at least not worse, than most of the leads in recent history.

[JoJo] comes from a family where her brothers rave about how beautiful she is and kiss her on the lips.

They kissed her on both cheeks, not on the lips. This is a typical greeting in Persian, French and many other cultures.

Nobody can make a blanket statement whether or not a person is hot.

I'm perfectly comfortable doing so. A guy I know described Jennifer as an "uggo." I immediately wrote him off as an idiot and he's never coming back from that. As it applies to JoJo, there were plenty of moments during the season when I could see what her aesthetic critics considered flaws or unattractive features. Her hotness at AtFR, however, crossed over into unassailable/objective territory. What a way to start her reign.

What spunky personality has JoJo shown? She was neither the most interesting or good looking of the season. Olivia, Jen, Caila, Jackie, Lauren R (?), Lace, Leah, Jubilee were all more attractive than her. It's a good thing Caila bombed or else JoJo would've never been chosen.

Edit: Can't find Lauren's last name anywhere but Lauren R is the Instagram stalker who is also a teacher from Texas and I forgot another girl, Jessica was also gorgeous.

Jen? Jackie? Leah?  Come on.  I couldn't pick them out of a lineup.  Lauren H. was dreadful looking.  I agree that Jubilee is gorgeous, but come on, Olivia?  Olivia?  Her season would be totally wild and interesting but I don't think it would do the franchise any favours.

To me Jojo is really hot when she's all dolled up and cute when she's laid back and messy... but I don't think I'd necessarily use the word 'pretty' to describe her.   If that makes sense.

I also never found her sassy.  I found her a weird mixture of very confident (obviously used to attention from men and other women)  but also kind of an insecure mess (like she's been in some emotionally damaging relationships).  She was all over the place, which is something I can really relate to.  That's why I'm excited to watch her season.

Ben and Lauren seem quite happy and seem to really know each other. I have watched every season, and all the post show interviews of all the couples. They remind me of Des & Chris and Ashley & JP. They just may make it.

I think the "Ben is in love with two women"  story was just that -  a story.   I think he like Jojo, but that both she and he knew that Lauren was going to "win".  The producers came up with the "in love with two women"  story, and he played along.  And Jojo was in on it, knowing if she played the part well, she would "win"  the role of Bachelorette.

Part of my reason for thinking this is the new issue of PEOPLE, in which Ben proclaims that Lauren "was always the one".   That completely contradicts what he said on the show.  I think he really DID fall for Lauren early on, and was convinced to play along to make the show interesting.

I dont know about this family, seem off, all this reality tv business. i dunno, maybe all actors, i mean, how much of these shows are real - ??!!??!?

what are the odds of both bro and sis being (reality) famous from dating shows?

just my two cents...pondering....

Who knows why both siblings chose to go on a dating show, but they're not actors. Jojo comes from a family of doctors. Her mom and dad are doctors, her brothers' father is a doctor, one brother was in an African country fitting the deaf with hearing aids, so I assume he's a doctor too. I noticed on Instagram a close cousin who is also entering the medical field. The brother who went on the other dating show was/is a Wall Street investment banker and was managing the finances of the Royal family in Dubai; and of course Jojo is a real estate developer. Maybe another theory is needed to put the family down because two members decided to look for love on t.v. Jojo said her brothers raised her because her parents were busy with work. I can cut them some slack for being protective.

I've already lost interest in Ben and Lauren.

You can come from a family of doctors and still be a fame whore. Not sure how those are mutually exclusive. Her family may be rich, but they come off tacky to me. Nothing wrong with that but if you're going to put yourself and your family on TV best be ready for the snark. Her brothers came off more as dicks than as protective older brothers. They are probably manwhores which is why they would assume Ben, who always gives off more of a boyscout vibe than anything, was playing all these women, or that's how the brother who already did this kind of thing acted so he assumes all men are dogs. Who knows. I don't really care. I have no interest in watching JoJo's season so I'm out...again. (I watch based on the lead. Didn't see Andy's season either, or Emily's. Of course I actually loved Kaitlyn's so what do I know? haha

Pretty good, I'd say. She saw he did it and wanted to do it too. I'd be more suspicious if they were aspiring actors, if they'd done commercials or something.

I am, of all things, a hand man.  I believe they reveal much about underlying bone structure, body proportionality, etc.  Ray Charles, famously blind, was noted for his grabbing of women's arms and hands to assess their overall physical condition.  It's also why I object to tacky 'nail art' since manicures, as the name implies, are meant to accentuate and compliment the natural form (mani=hand) and not to be the focus unto themselves.  I may be overegging the pudding but JoJo's hands were equally attractive.

Whoa. This is super creepy to me. If I knew someone was looking at my hands and thinking about how it relates to my 'underlying bone structure' I'd run the other way. Also, can't you assess someone's body proportionality simply by...looking at their body?

Ben is a super dork who is lucky enough to have a really nice face. I think he knows this and this is why he feels unloveable -- I would imagine once girls get over the physical attraction, they realize that he's kind of boring and drippy and ditch him. I could never see spunky, vivacious JoJo with him in the long run, so it's good he didn't pick her. Maybe he knew that she was really the one that was out of his league, and while Lauren is still a very overall attractive person, physically and in personality, she is the less likely to draw a lot of attention from other people (especially men). Ben also strikes me as someone who would go for a very traditional domestic, maternal woman, and JoJo is a little too much of a modern, independent woman. I think she will make a fantastic bachelorette (but then, I liked Kaitlyn too and I blame the issues with her season more on the producers than her -- they seemed to never take her seriously from the start and really shortchanged her in terms of dates, locations, etc.).

^^^ My opinion on Kaitlyn for what it's worth (probably not much haha)...I think TPTB wanted Britt, but popular opinion seemed to imply Kaitlyn should have been chosen. I think this angered production, so they presented Kaitlyn in as bad a light as possible as a sort of "you wanted her...well you got her!"

Kaitlyn was sort of the female Juan Pablo. Both started out okay, then turned into ... well, themselves. And by that time, it was too late to change up. Although that could make the most dramatic season ever, switching TB and TBettes in the middle of the season!

I think Ben was fine for this franchise. He kept pretty much on script, including the DRAMATIC double ILYs, which means he got a pretty decent edit and, you know, is now on Chris Harrison's Mt. Rushmore. Whether he ends up getting married to F1 is anyone's guess, with his chance of getting married as good as any pairing. These days it seems no one stays married for long to the same person. I kind of hope they do make it as both seem pretty low-key, like Des and Ashley. Those two married their choices and went back to real life.

I don't see how they were fame whores or tacky, but maybe you have more inside information than I do. Good luck to Jojo in her search for love. That Ben would instinctively go to her when he needed clarity or comfort and that she shared her clothes with the other women speak volumes for me about her as a person. None of the unearned badmouthing on this site has changed my mind about her. I wish her well.

Personally, I never warmed to her after she faked like she was Jubliee's friend and then talked about her behind her back. I hate people like that, so she lost me right there.

Yeah, I never liked her after this either. She cuddled up to Jubs when she was talking about being complicated, then walked away with Becca when Jubilee said hello to the group after Becca said she needed lipgloss. JoJo was the one who went on about being shocked that Jubilee got a rose saying "Ben, could ACTUALLY see a future with her" as if Jubilee was some sort of monster. She also told Jami to interrupt the massage to "see what would happen next" and then ran to see Jubilee in the bathroom as if she was actually concerned about her.

I have very mixed feelings about JoJo. I can see both sides of this "like or dislike" of her. I think she does dress a little too suggestively but I'm not sure if she's fully aware that she doesn't need to always dress like a sex kitten or it's just a less than classy part of her. If she's not fully aware than it's kind of sad. If she is than it comes across as tacky and a little desperate.  I agree her family is somewhat shady but on the other hand I do think she showed a lot of spirit and seemed for all her wealth very down to earth and relatable.

Regarding your post though, I don't remember the part where she told Jami to interrupt the massage. Not saying your wrong just that it's a good example of why I have mixed feelings about her. I've said before that I believe there was a lot of heavy editing going on during the Jubilee fiasco. I saw myself a interview online with Jubilee at the WTA where she stated she wanted JoJo to win and called her, "my girl". At this point Jubilee herself had watched the show back so if she noticed these slights of JoJo's why would she have made such positive statements about her.  Becca was the first one to hug Jubilee at the WTA after her emotional time on the coach. I didn't like JoJo either for her role in the Jubilee drama but from what I've seen and heard from the WTA I have to believe there was a lot of misguided editing going on.

Maybe JoJo and Becca were standoffish because they didn't want to take sides or be involved in all the drama. Who knows? I'm sure though that we'll see many sides of JoJo in her upcoming B'ette stint. I'm sure there will be plenty to like and dislike. It always happens. The leads never come away untarnished.

How tacky is Andi talking about her FS time with Josh (so amazing!) vs. Nick, including actually quoting him "in the moment", more or less?  She's the kind of person who would HATE if a guy had written a book discussing what he felt her flaws "in the bedroom" were. And yet, if she does it to someone else, it's fine.

All her talk about how "at the rose ceremony I realized that being on The Bachelor was the dumbest thing I'd ever done". And yet she came back for a whole season centered around her.

I thought she was a good b-ette, but was the kind of woman I could never like IRL. Everything I've seen and read about her since just confirms that (and, no, I didn't buy the book. Just read the excerpts that are all over the place this week.)  But I guess Josh got a reality show out of the new attention, so I suppose he's happy (unlike poor Nick).
